The Chronicles of Sir William

Ch 20

In the Eye of the Observer

OPEN ON:

INT. STELLAR OBSERVATORY, GRAND CHAMBER

The Observer guides Hunter into the largest chamber in her

observatory in the sky. At the center of the room is a

massive orrery of shining bronze gears and gyros, spinning

slowly.

THE OBSERVER

Behold!

Hunter gazes up at it with awe.

HUNTER

So, what is it?

THE OBSERVER

The Demon Realm's undoing.

She pulls a mechanical lever in the floor. With a deafening

groan of metal, it lurches into motion, it's gyros

beginning to rotate and whirl at higher speeds.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

A last resort I hoped wouldn't be

necessary...

Hunter's eyes darken and he prepares a spell-circle, aiming

it at the giant mechanism.

HUNTER

Good to know...

He prepares to unleash a massive fire-ball, but his spell

begins to sputter. Instead, he squirts a stream of soap-

bubbles.

HUNTER (cont'd)

What...?!

Hunter freezes awkwardly as the Observer glares at him.

With a snap of her fingers, a pair of clockwork automatons

spring out of silos in the floor and seize him in

mechanical pincers.

THE OBSERVER

Oh, dear. I hope that wasn't some

ill-conceived attempt to betray me.

HUNTER

I know everything! About who you

are! About what you're trying to do!

THE OBSERVER

Really? Well then...

The Observer primes a spell-circle and aims it at Hunter.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

I suppose I'll have to dispose of

you. Pity.

Hunter gulps in anticipation of the death-dealing blow.

Instead, her spell sputters as well, emitting an explosion

of confetti like a large party-popper.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

*cackles* Oh, that was rich!

*laughs*

HUNTER

Wha-what's going on?! What happened

to our magic?

Though Hunter appears panicked, he furtively fumbles with

his phone in his back pocket. The Observer doesn't notice

in the midst of her laughter.

CUT TO:

INT. THE OWL HOUSE, KITCHEN - MORNING

Luz walks into the kitchen for breakfast only to discover

Eda and Camilla half-buried in a mountain of whipped cream.

LUZ

(awkward)

Whoa...am I...interrupting

something...?

They are in the middle of brooming the cream up into dust-

pans. Hooty cheerfully helps scarf down as much as he can.

CAMILLA

Ay, ay, ay! We were just starting

the stove to make maduros...

EDA

But when I tried to cast a fire

spell, I doused the whole thing with

whipped cream instead.

Lilith returns with trash bags to contain the mess.

LILITH

Maybe you just need some time to

adjust to your magic again after

being cursed for so long.

KING

It's not just her...

King comes in through the back door, his fur covered in

bubble gum.

KING (cont'd)

I was out training when I tried to

cast a water-blade spell. Instead, I

ended up like something you'd scrape

off Eda's school desk.

He stops and sniffs his fur with morbid curiosity.

KING (cont'd)

(revolted)

Uggh! And it's freshly chewed too!

LUZ

Huh, weird.

Luz tries to cast a light spell. An orb of light briefly

appears over her finger before transforming into a bullfrog

that tries to eat her hand.

LUZ (cont'd)

Agh!

She flings it out the window.

LUZ (cont'd)

It's like all our magic's gone

haywire!

Suddenly her phone rings.

LUZ (cont'd)

Just a second, I've gotta take this.

She turns away and answers her phone, while the others

continue cleaning the kitchen.

LUZ (cont'd)

Hello? Luz the Human speaking! Now's

not really a good time, if you could

maybe call ba-

HUNTER (VOX)

(prompting)

Quit yucking it up and tell me what

you've done!

THE OBSERVER (VOX)

Oh, it's quite simple, really...

Luz freezes, recognizing the voice.

THE OBSERVER (VOX) (cont'd)

This orrery allows magic-users

across the Demon Realm to cast

spells intuitively...

Luz runs back into the kitchen and puts her phone on

speaker.

EDA

What?! Who is-?

Luz shushes her, prompting them all to listen quietly.

INT. GRAND CHAMBER

THE OBSERVER

They need only visualize their

intentions while drawing a circle in

the air and the device takes care of

the rest.

The Observer continues pontificating to Hunter, pacing in

front of the orrery.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

With the mechanism out of kilter,

their magic will be shapeless-and

they will be helpless.

HUNTER

(prompting)

But so will you. Even your magic

seems affected.

Hunter's tone of voice seems to indicate that he's speaking

to the eavesdroppers through his phone as much as to the

Observer.

THE OBSERVER

Alas, it's true.

(leering)

But I won't need magic to bring ruin

to those fools in the Boiling

Isles...!

INT. THE OWL HOUSE, KITCHEN

The residents of the Owl House trade shocked glances.

INT. GRAND CHAMBER

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

Or to you...

Hunter's eyes widen.

HUNTER

(nervous)

W-what are you going to do to me?

THE OBSERVER

Why, nothing at all! You're far

too...valuable.

Hunter looks confused for a moment before he is seized by a

sharp pain. He winces, doubling over in the arms of his

captors.

HUNTER

What's...*groan* happening to-

His eyes cloud over with a black ichor which slowly drips

from his tear ducts. The darkness slowly spreads over his

face, his irises glowing green.

THE OBSERVER

Don't strain yourself. I have big

plans for you...my little Titan.

*chuckles*

INTRO

SEQUENCE:

OPEN ON:

INT. STAIRWAY

The Observer descends down a dark spiral stairway, her

automatons dragging Hunter along.

HUNTER

I can't believe I listened to you!

All this time, you're the one who

cursed Belos, just like the Owl

Lady!

The Observer pauses on her way down the stairs.

THE OBSERVER

(frustrated)

It's also thanks to me that you

ingrate witches even exist! I

created "magic" as this universe

knows it, and all I get credit for

is a few tawdry curses?!

Hunter is shocked into silence.

HUNTER

You created magic?

Hunter clutches his cell phone in his back pocket and

steels himself.

INT. GALLERY

They arrive in a hallway lined with stained-glass windows

that tell the observer's origin story.

THE OBSERVER

Folk call me "The Observer", as my

people were called. For that is all

we did.

(bored)

Observe.

They pass beneath a window showing god-like beings watching

the movements of heavenly bodies through the cosmos. Their

bodies are constellations of tiny stars with planets or

moons for heads.

The stained glass figures begin to move as if enchanted.

THE OBSERVER (V.O.)

Never interfering with the grand

design. Naturally, a few billion

years of that grew tiresome.

They move on to one depicting strange nexus of glowing

light.

THE OBSERVER (V.O.) (cont'd)

(reverent)

But then I discovered a mysterious,

wonderful force in the far reaches

of the aether.

It warps nearby planets and stars, turning deserts to

oceans, day to night, futuristic utopias to medieval

kingdoms.

THE OBSERVER (V.O.) (cont'd)

It was pure chaos-unbridled change!

But it needed a semblance of order

if it was to reshape this dreary

universe...

The moon-headed Observer takes the nexus and sorts it into

nine distinct wavelengths of light. She then inscribes

glyphs into each color, one for each type of magic: light,

fire, ice, plants, earth, lightning, wind, water, and

darkness.

THE OBSERVER (V.O.) (cont'd)

However, my kin did not approve of

my work, and conspired to destroy

it.

The other Observers surround her and whisk away the nexus,

breaking it into pieces and scattering it across the

universe.

THE OBSERVER (V.O.) (cont'd)

But one cannot destroy change-only

scatter it in a vain attempt to hide

it from me.

The moon-faced Observer lashes out at the other observers

in anger. They combine their powers to shrink her to a

human-sized form and leave her stranded on a desert world.

THE OBSERVER (V.O.) (cont'd)

They then imprisoned me in this

mortal form and left me to rot.

The Observer draws an arrangement of glyphs in the sand and

escapes her desert prison through a portal.

THE OBSERVER (V.O.) (cont'd)

But I was not defeated. I searched

creation for magic made manifest.

She explores the cosmos in search of magic.

THE OBSERVER (V.O.) (cont'd)

Little of it was usable for my

plans. Galdor stones were too rare.

Palistrom trees took too long to

make too little.

She then stumbles upon a mass of bluish black ichor feeding

off a jungle planet.

THE OBSERVER (V.O.) (cont'd)

But then I found a strange entity

that fed on the life-force of entire

worlds. It resonated with magic!

She tries to approach it, but is halted by a sun-headed

Observer. It's face is reminiscent of Belos' mask.

Undeterred, the moon-faced Observer flings the ichor at the

sun-head. The ichor infests his body, mutating him into a

skeletal, rotten corpse.

The ichor infects other colossal creatures from the jungle

world. Together, the necrotic host scours the cosmos in

search of worlds to consume.

THE OBSERVER (V.O.) (cont'd)

Nothing would stop me...until I

arrived at this infernal world!

The Titans are dispatched by the demon warrior, Haligor.

THE OBSERVER (V.O.) (cont'd)

While I pondered a means of

resurrecting my Titans, I studied

the peoples that sprung from their

remains. Demon Empires. Witch

Kingdoms. It was quaint-even

fascinating at times...

The Observer bides her time, studying the rise and fall of

the Demon Realm's civilizations.

THE OBSERVER (V.O.) (cont'd)

But the experiment must continue...

The Observer continues down the hall, Hunter struggling to

keep to his feet as he's yanked along by the automatons.

HUNTER

(haunted)

So...that's all I am? I'm the next

Titan...like Belos was going to be?

THE OBSERVER

Yes. The "incantations" you've been

studying have begun your

metamorphosis. As the years pass,

you will grow into your role as a

devourer of worlds!

They arrive at a door leading into a dark dungeon chamber.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

But of course, we no longer have the

luxury of time.

She throws a switch, illuminating a row of cylindrical

tanks lining the wall with ghoulish green light. Looking

into the tanks, Hunter sees his old street-urchin friends

suspended in a clear slime, Titan's blood being pumped into

them through tubes.

HUNTER

(horrifed)

Z-Zach?!

He frantically looks into another. This one looks even more

mutated.

HUNTER (cont'd)

JESSE?! SPEAK TO ME!

Hunter breaks free from the automatons' grip and pounds on

the glass.

HUNTER (cont'd)

(trembling)

W-What are you doing to them...?!

THE OBSERVER

They are undergoing an accelerated

version of the process. This will

only make them into lesser Titans,

But they should still be powerful

enough to destroy the Boiling Isles.

HUNTER

N-no! They'll stop you!

THE OBSERVER

With what? Their befuddled magic?

She summons a swarm of butterflies from her finger to

remind him.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

It's over, Hunter.

The automatons seize him again and march him back to an

empty cylinder at the head of the chamber.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

You could have been a good little

swine, prancing along to your

slaughter with delusions of grandeur

ringing in your empty little head.

HUNTER

(struggling)

No-Grr! NO!

The automatons force him into the cylinder, sliding shut

with a hiss. He bangs against the glass as it begins to

fill with slime.

THE OBSERVER

Now I have burdened you with the

knowledge of your true purpose...

Enjoy the rest of your wretched

existence as my slave.

The Observer then takes her leave, her cackles echoing

across the chamber. Hunter can only hang his head in

despair as the slime fills up past his pockets, short-

circuiting his phone.

HUNTER

(solemn)

Now you know her plan...Make it

count, guys...

CUT TO:

EXT. BONESBOROUGH, TOWN SQUARE - DAY

Luz cradles her phone as Hunter's call drops, breathing a

silent prayer.

LUZ

Thank you, Hunter...We will...

She turns to see the town square outside the Bonesbrough

council chambers swarming with activity. Lord William and

General Tarak are busy mobilizing their troops to defend

the city.

There is a pall of dread hanging over the citizens of

Bonesborough as they either duck inside their homes or are

pressed into service with the militia.

The other members of the council approach William with glum

looks.

ALADOR

Lord Regent. We have taken a vote

and decided it would better to

evacuate Bonesborough than risk

confrontation with the Observer.

WILLIAM

Even if we had time to get everyone

out, the Observer and her pets would

just slowly hunt us down and pick us

off. What fate is that for our

people?

(determined)

No. I overrule the council. We will

stand and fight!

THE KEEPER

But what chance do we have without

our magic?!

WILLIAM

Witches had other ways of waging war

when magic was only a luxury.

He nods over to where his guards assemble massive siege

engines and train with bows and spears. General Tarak nods

to his warriors who train with their glaives.

HETTIE CUTBURN

(shaking her head)

It still won't be enough...

LUZ

You're right, it won't.

They all turn to the normally optimistic Luz in surprise.

LUZ (cont'd)

(pondering)

But magic may not be off the table

after all.

Luz takes a piece of paper from her pocket and inscribes a

light glyph on it. It crumples up and successfully turns

into an orb of light.

LUZ (cont'd)

The Observer's doohickey doesn't

create magic, just gives it form.

(hopeful)

But if you already know how to give

it form...

MASON

But how is a whole city going to

learn these glyphs by the time the

Titans come?

LUZ

You just need a really good teacher.

She turns to Principal Bump. He smiles in turn, knowing her

plan.

LUZ (cont'd)

"There's hope", is what I'm trying

to say.

She paces in front of the council, making a rousing,

hopeful speech.

LUZ (cont'd)

You may have built Bonesborough on

magic, but magic isn't what makes

you who you are! It's seeing things

differently-doing things

differently. That's what makes you

people so awesome!

After murmuring uncertainties, their spirits finally seem

leavened.

LUZ (cont'd)

(determined)

And pretty soon, The Observer's

gonna learn that the hard way.

WILLIAM

(to the council)

Ensure she has whatever she needs.

Once more, our fate is in the hands

of Luz, the Human.

BEGIN MONTAGE:

The soundtrack begins a hopeful overture as we see scenes

of the Boiling Isles preparing for the storm.

INT. HEXSIDE GYMNASIUM

Principal Bump has gathered all the students in the

gymnasium where they all transcribe glyphs onto paper cards

by the thousands.

BOSCHA

(whining)

Ugh! I'm getting blisters! Why are

we doing this, anyway?! Magic from

paper sounds so lame!

PRINCIPAL BUMP

Aside from it being our only hope of

escaping annihilation...?

He takes the stage and speaks through the school's PA

system.

PRINCIPAL BUMP (VOX)

Because those students who meet

their quotas will finish this

semester with straight-A's!

The whole school erupts into cheers and they redouble their

transcription efforts. A few students gather the piles of

finished glyph cards in messenger sacks and fly off to

deliver them to Bonesborough.

EXT. CITY WALLS

The students deliver the first batch of glyphs to the city

guard, who use plant spells to hoist their catapults onto

the walls.

Alador Blight takes some glyphs and uses them to activate

his fleet of abomatons. He arms them with nets and

grappling hook launchers before sending them off to defend

the walls.

Mason and a gang of Construction Coven witches use their

glyphs to carve trenches and fortifications around the

city.

The Potion Coven's head-witch takes some glyphs and uses

them to stir enormous vats of foul liquid and pours them

into massive glass jugs.

The Beast Coven head-witch commands a flock of gryphons and

giant birds to carry the jugs into the sky and wait to drop

them on the city's attackers.

Hettie Cutburn prepares hospital tents for the wounded...

Their deliveries finished, the Hexside students take to the

air again.

EXT. SKIES OVER BONESBOROUGH

As they fly over the city, they dump out the remaining

glyphs from their messenger sacks, sending thousands of

glyph cards floating down to the street like snowflakes.

The citizens of Bonesborough marvel at the sight. Some

brave souls test the glyphs for themselves and cheer at

having newfound hope of retaliation.

END MONTAGE:

INT. BONESBOROUGH COUNCIL CHAMBERS - DAY

Luz gathers with her friends in the council rotunda to plan

their attack.

LUZ

Okay. Lucky for us, Titan-blood

magic also seems unaffected. So we

still have a way in to the

Observer's lair.

William takes his sword and cuts open a portal to a random

location to demonstrate.

LUZ (cont'd)

While Bonesborough is under attack,

a small team can sneak in and take

her down once and for all.

EDA

Hear, hear!

LUZ

Sorry, Eda. You won't be a part of

it.

EDA

What?!

LUZ

Even without her magic, the Observer

is still dangerous. I need witches

who know the glyph designs by heart.

Luz gestures to William, Lilith, Amity, Gus, and Willow.

LILITH

(smug)

And you flunked out of that class,

remember?

EDA

Ugh!

Eda face-plants on the table with a frustrated groan.

LUZ

-Or, people who are awesome even

without magic!

She nods to King who twirls his glaive with a flourish,

Hooty who undulates with glee, and Camilla who looks

confused.

CAMILLA

Me?! But I barely even know what's

going on-!

Luz hushes her and gives her a knowing wink.

LUZ

Cosmic Frontier: The Next

Millennium. Season Four. Captain

John Picardy confronts the M

Continuum!

Camilla's confusion vanishes.

CAMILLA

(realizing)

Oh, I remember! So that's what's

going on. Hah!

At first looking proud of herself, she quickly comes to a

dreadful realization.

CAMILLA (cont'd)

(horrified)

Dios mio...THAT'S what's going on?!

LUZ

See? We're on the same nerdy

wavelength. That's why I need you

for this one!

CAMILLA

(serious)

I'm not sure I even want you going.

LUZ

Mamá, we knew it would be this way.

Remember what Captain Avery always

says. "The needs of the many-"

CAMILLA

"-outweigh the needs of the few."

(pained smile)

I'm starting to regret telling you I

was into that show.

Camilla finally relents at Luz's trusting smile.

CAMILLA (cont'd)

Alright. Just...let me get ready.

LUZ

(solemn)

We'll all need some time.

CUT TO:

EXT. THE OWL HOUSE, FRONT YARD - DUSK

Everyone begins suiting up for what may be their final

mission.

Amity adorns herself with Blight Co. Armor and weapons. She

then gives her boyfriend, Gavin, a final kiss.

Gus and Willow also don some new gear and hug their parents

goodbye.

King and General Tarak confer as well.

GENERAL TARAK

Fight well, my apprentice. Should I

not return from battle, our tribe's

leadership will fall to you.

KING

Don't talk like that. We'll both

make it out of this. I still need

your guidance.

GENERAL TARAK

I have little left to teach. You

have grown into a fine warrior. Your

father would be proud.

KING

I'm sure you'd know.

King wraps his arms around Tarak in a hug. Letting out an

emotional whimper, the old warrior embraces him back.

INT. LIVING ROOM

Camilla suits up for battle. She straps a tool-belt to her

waist, fitting it with a hand taser, a can of pepper spray,

a baseball bat, and a size eight sandal in its own

special holster. She then paints some glare marks on her

cheeks and gives the camera her best war face.

Sitting on the couch, Raine rosins his violin bow while Eda

finishes carving a palisman.

RAINE

Is that a new one?

EDA

Nah. I've been working on it for a

while now. I just didn't want to

leave it unfinished in case...

(solemn)

In case, you know-

RAINE

(lightening the

mood)

-In case you have a blowout sale

when you get back! Commemorative

merch is a hot commodity!

EDA

*snort* Yeah. That's why...

They smile and hold hands, leaving to go upstairs.

EXT. TURRET

Lord William stands at the parapets of the Owl House's old

turret, looking pensively at the sea. The sky reddens with

the ominous approach of a solar eclipse.

He remembers a similar view from his old castle.

BEGIN

FLASHBACK:

EXT. OSSIGARD CASTLE - DAY

Sir William and his father, King Wulfric, walk out onto the

walls. They laugh and reminisce, both in good cheer.

WILLIAM

(laughing)

And before I cut it off I said,

"That's how you get ahead!".

King Wulfric howls with laughter and wipes a joyful tear

from his eye.

KING WULFRIC

Oh, It's good to have you back, son.

I missed your banter.

The King looks off into the horizon, suddenly more composed

and grave.

KING WULFRIC (cont'd)

Your return from knight errantry was

well-timed.

KING WULFRIC (cont'd)

Ossigard is facing new threats from

within. It will need a strong King...

(solemn)

...when I am gone...

WILLIAM

(concerned)

Father? You don't appear ill. What's

wrong?

KING WULFRIC

Oh, it's nothing like that. It' only

that my perspective has changed as

of late. I find myself looking to

the future more than to the past.

WILLIAM

Quite to my surprise.

KING WULFRIC

You'll know the feeling when you get

up in years. But in the mean time I

want you to remember something.

William listens intently.

KING WULFRIC (cont'd)

Your magical arts will not make you

a King, nor your skill in battle.

Not wealth, fame, or glory, but your

bond with your people.

WILLIAM

Wise council, father.

KING WULFRIC

It is more than a proverb. It is

truly a sacred power that you can

draw strength from in times of need.

WILLIAM

Like magic?

KING WULFRIC

Stronger...We've known it since our

human ancestors came to this world

from the Rhineland.

WILLIAM

Teach me, father.

KING WULFRIC

It cannot be taught in a lesson.

Only forged between a King and his

people. When the time is right, when

you have their trust, it can save

our Kingdom.

Wulfric clasps his son's shoulder.

KING WULFRIC (cont'd)

Remember, the greatest triumph is

moving the hearts of your people...

END FLASHBACK:

William continues staring at the eclipse in the sky as Luz

joins him on the turret.

LUZ

It's always the Day of Unity when

these things happen, huh?

WILLIAM

Yes. Quite the inauspicious event,

isn't it?

LUZ

So, Whatchya up to?

WILLIAM

(distant)

Oh, just dwelling on some wisdom my

father gave me.

LUZ

Anything good?

WILLIAM

I'm sure it was.

(troubled)

It just didn't arrive in time to

help our Kingdom.

Luz senses his disquiet and clasps his shoulder.

WILLIAM (cont'd)

The people are frightened, Luz. When

they look to me, do they feel

courage? Pride? Confidence?

LUZ

That's what I'm feeling now.

She locks her fingers in his hand and rests on his back.

LUZ (cont'd)

And I was plenty scared before.

He smiles and strokes her head.

WILLIAM

Well. There's a small triumph there.

Luz lights up, just remembering something.

LUZ

Hey, I wanted to give you something.

She takes a small plastic toy out of her pocket and hands

it to William. It's the gaming device she had previously

given to Amity.

WILLIAM

(confused)

Oh...Erhm, it's very nice. What is

it?

LUZ

(gentile)

Consider it a token of your lady's

favor.

His eyes light up, realizing the significance of the gift.

LUZ (cont'd)

May it bring you good luck in your

battles.

CUT TO:

INT. STELLAR OBSERVATORY, DUNGEON - DUSK

The Observer paces between the glowing green specimen

tanks. The mutated humans floating inside twitch and

shiver. They are barely recognizable now, more like tar-

coated skeletons.

THE OBSERVER

They are ready. It is time!

She gestures over to one of her mechanical minions. The

construct throws a lever and the pods begin sliding into

the floor.

EXT. STELLAR OBSERVATORY

Small pod-bay doors open in the underside of the floating

asteroid, shooting the tanks out like missiles.

The denizens of the Boiling Isles watch as the pods fall to

the surface of their world like shooting stars. They land

out in the wilderness with a loud crash, followed by

several moments of tense silence. Eda, Raine, General

Tarak, Principal Bump, Warden Wrath, and Gwendolyn

Clawthorne all arrive in the city as it's defenders

scramble to their stations.

Then, they see the boughs of the trees tremble. A cadence

of deep rumbles can be felt in the city, heralding the

approach of the Titans. One appears, it's massive head

cresting a hill before the rest of its body. It unleashes a

cavernous bellow.

It's followed by one, then two, and finally a total of nine

other Titans behind it. The denizens of Bonesborough steel

themselves for the assault.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

(laughing)

Farewell, Boiling Isles. I knew ye

too well.

The Observer turns from her balcony and heads back into her

study. She then pulls a lever on a console at her desk.

Klaxons sound all throughout her Observatory, sealing blast

doors and dispensing legions of her mechanical guards to

secure the grounds.

The Observatory is locked down tight.

INT. THE OWL HOUSE, LIVING ROOM

Luz, William, Camilla, Amity, Gus, Willow, King, Lilith,

and Hooty gather in the living room, preparing for their

counter-attack. William unsheathes his sword and waits for

Luz's signal.

LUZ

All ready?

KING

Born ready!

LILITH

(smoldering)

The Observer will pay for what she's

done...

Luz turns and nods to William. He then takes his sword and

cuts a glowing rift in space-time.

WILLIAM

Show no fear! Show no mercy! Show

that harridan nothing but your fury!

They all tense up for battle, ready for the charge.

WILLIAM (cont'd)

Attack!

CUT TO:

INT. THE OBSERVATORY, BASILICA - DUSK

The army of clockwork guards aimlessly shuffle around.

William's portal appears at the center of the room,

deploying the attacking witches.

They leap into the fray, dismantling hordes of the

clockworks with their paper glyphs or weapons. After

substantially thinning them out, Luz pauses to give orders

to her troops.

LUZ

Alright, we've got a foot-hold, but

now we need to divide and conquer.

Amity, Gus, Willow. I need you guys

to find and free Hunter. We'll need

him for this fight.

WILLOW

(nodding)

Right.

GUS

On it!

AMITY

Do we really need him, though?

The trio of young witches set off.

LUZ

Will. King. Mamá. The Observer's

invited us to a tea-party. Let's not

be late.

LILITH

What about us?

HOOTY

Yeah!

Luz takes them aside and shows them a specially drawn glyph

on a piece of parchment.

LUZ

I've got a special mission for you

two.

CUT TO:

EXT. BONESBOROUGH, CITY WALLS - DUSK

The Titans encroach on the gates, thundering over the

countryside.

The city guards load the catapults with huge balls of

burning pitch and take aim. Archers loose volleys of arrows

with glyph cards attached. At best, this only slows down or

enrages the Titans.

One of them manages to duck under the hail of fire and

draws near the gatehouse. Eda and Raine are there, hastily

drawing a massive glyph circle in the dirt.

EDA

Come on! Come on!

They finish and activate the glyph just in time to dodge

the Titan's massive feet. The counter-spell glyph bathes

the Titan in golden light, slowly shrinking it down.

Eventually, the creature is transformed back into a human,

collapsing into Eda's arms.

The city guards rejoice at the small victory.

RAINE

That was great! Think we can do that

again?

Their celebration is short-lived as the other Titans come

charging at the walls.

RAINE (cont'd)

*gulp* About a dozen more times...?

INT. OBSERVATORY, HALLS

Luz's infiltration team keeps fighting their way through

the Observer's lair, carving a path through the mechanical

guards. As they make their way through a long corridor, a

series of blast-doors close in their way.

King steps forward and takes a deep breath.

KING

WEEEEEEEEGH!

He unleashes his magical roar, blasting a hole through the

thick steel doors. He stands tall with pride as his friends

cheer him on.

But before they enter the rupture, a turret extends from a

silo in the ceiling behind them. It takes aim at Luz and

fires a magical ball of energy. Camilla notices it just in

time and flings herself in the projectile's path.

CAMILLA

Brujaaaaa BASH!

She takes her baseball bat and knocks the magical

projectile back at the turret, destroying it.

LUZ

Whoa, mom! You saved me!

CAMILLA

(rattled)

I was never even good at baseball.

Luz hugs her mom, everyone relieved at the close call. They

then turn and rush through the ruptured doors, the turret's

partially broken telescope lens following them.

INT. OBSERVATORY, OBSERVER'S STUDY

The Observer watches the intruders through a feed in her

desk's console.

THE OBSERVER

Curious. I thought I destroyed that

meddlesome human already. But then

again, who stays dead these days...?

Isn't that right, my old apprentice?

She swivels around in her chair to see Belos' ghost

watching her.

BELOS

Your pawn, you mean? You continue to

underestimate them, even after

seeing how they defeated me. But

then, I never truly had your

confidence, did I?

THE OBSERVER

Not so. I selected you for qualities

I prize in myself. Cunning.

Determination. Utter lack of regard

for the consequences. It's a shame

you never lived up to them...

BELOS

Don't be so certain.

Belos' ghost dissolves away, leaving the Observer alone in

her study.

INT. OBSERVATORY, DUNGEONS

Amity, Gus, and Willow fight through the Observatory's

lower complexes. After destroying a contingent of

mechanical guards, they pause to catch their breath.

AMITY

This place is a maze. How are we

going to find that kid in all this?!

GUS

(trembling)

Uhh...I think someone's trying to

answer your question...

Gus nervously points over to where Belos' ghost appears in

their midst. He wordlessly points them down one of the

hallways before disappearing again.

The trio trades nervous glances.

WILLOW

(shrugging)

I can think of worse people to ask

for directions.

They nod in agreement and set off through the catacombs.

EXT. BONESBOROUGH

The Titans have broken past the outer defenses of the city,

the inhabitants fighting for their lives. The guards pepper

the Titans with Glyph arrows and catapult volleys.

Eventually, this manages to fell one of the Titans.

The guards briefly cheer at their success, before having to

retreat as the other Titans plow over their positions.

Elsewhere, Eda and Raine hurriedly tries to paint the

dispelling glyph on the side of a building. General Tarak

and his warriors come running around a street corner,

luring another of the Titans into the trap.

GENERAL TARAK

Hurry! They're gaining!

RAINE

We've almost got it!

One of the other Titan's takes notice of the trap and hurls

a massive boulder at the wall. Eda and Raine leap away just

before the boulder demolishes the side of the building and

thwarts their plan.

RAINE (cont'd)

(coughing up dust)

What now?

Eda turns and looks at the encroaching Titans, her gaze

drifting to the skies above them.

EDA

...I think I have a plan.

EXT. BONESBOROUGH, SOUTHSIDE

Another Titan rampages through the poorer parts of town.

Some of the city's residents manage to leap from the

rooftops and clotheslines of the tenements and climb up

their backs. They slap a large number of glyphs onto the

Titan's skin and leap off after activating them.

The Titan is then engulfed in massive explosions of fire,

ice, water, and lightning. It collapses into the alleyways,

defeated.

Meanwhile, Eda puts her plan into action with another of

the Titans. She and Raine fly on their staves, trailing

smoke behind them from clay pots. They circle over the

Titan, trying to draw the dispelling glyph in the air with

the smoke.

Noticing them, the Titan tries to swipe at them. They dodge

around it's arms, still desperately trying to finish their

sky-writing. One of the Titan's swipes finally lands on

Raine, knocking him into the window of a multi-story high-

rise.

EDA (cont'd)

RAINE!

Despite her dismay, Eda tries to keep a cool head and

finish the glyph. Once it is fully formed, Eda activates

the trail of smoke, causing it to glow and consume the

Titan in Golden light. As the creature shrinks back into

human form, Eda lands on the high-rise and digs Raine's

unconscious body from the rubble.

EXT. BONESBOROUGH, MARKET SQUARE

The city guards and citizens continue to hold out against

the Titans, but notice their reserve of glyphs beginning to

dwindle.

GENERAL TARAK

We need more Glyphs!

MASON

What's taking those kids so long?

ALADOR

(gasping)

The school!

INT. HEXSIDE GYMNASIUM

Hexide's students continue furiously scribbling out glyphs

when they start hearing tremors. The tremors grow louder

until they see the gymnasium roof ripped off by a Titan.

The students flee in terror as the creature hovers over

them.

PRINCIPAL BUMP

(to the teachers)

Get the students to safety. I'll

hold it off.

The teachers shepherd the students out of the gym as Bump

takes his stand. He levels his staff at the Titan, but it

merely slams it's fist down on top of him.

ILLUSIONS TEACHER

Hieronymus!

The teachers lament the Principal's apparent death. But

before the Titan can finish it's roar of victory, it's fist

is seized by tentacles squirming out from cracks in the

gymnasium's floor.

The Titan staggers back, confronted by a horrid, tentacular

abomination nearly as large as itself. Principal Bump rides

on its back with a confident smile.

PRINCIPAL BUMP

This detention entity has been

consuming the angst and humiliation

of our students since my

predecessor, Principal Faust.

(formidable)

It shall now feed on your regret.

The Titan screeches with fear as it is dragged into the

abyss of the school's dungeons by the eldritch creature.

EXT. BONESBOROUGH

Only five of the original ten Titans remain now, but the

city's defenders are too exhausted to fight anymore.

GENERAL TARAK

Pull back! Pull back!

The guards sound a horn, signaling everyone to retreat

further into the city.

CUT TO:

INT. OBSERVATORY, OBSERVER'S CHAMBERS

Luz's infiltrators finally arrive outside the doors to the

Observer's study. King demolishes the doors with his howl

and they storm inside, assuming battle-ready poses.

LUZ

Surrender, Observer. Your days of...

uhm...

(awkward)

-observing our suffering are over!

The Observer calmly sits behind her desk, steepling her

hands.

THE OBSERVER

Quite resourceful. You've learned my

pictoglyphs well, Luz the Human...

But they are my glyphs.

The Observer flips a switch in her desk, causing a

mechanical device to descend from the ceiling of her study.

It resembles a large, crystal constellarium surrounded by

brass gyres and telescoping lenses.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

I inscribed their magic into the

fabric of the universe. Your mastery

will never compare to mine!

The constellarium lights up, shining beams that etch glyph

shapes into the walls and floor. The infiltrators scatter

as the room is engulfed in magical eruptions.

They try to dodge the explosions while advancing, but are

held back at every turn. The Observer cackles with

amusement at their futile attempts.

The only one seeming to make headway is Camilla, who seems

to go unnoticed by the constellarium's targeting matrix.

She slowly creeps to the other corner of the room, finally

leaping out at the Observer from behind a wingback chair.

CAMILLA

BRUJAAAAA BAAA-Whoa!

The Observer reaches out and seizes Camilla's arm while

she's in midair. She then rises to her full, towering eight

feet of height, letting Camilla dangle from her grasp.

THE OBSERVER

(menacing)

While I may be mortal...I am still

far from human...

Thinking quickly, Camilla reaches for her belt. She takes

her pepper spray and spritzes it into the depths of the

Observer's hood. She screams in pain and crumples on the

ground, releasing Camilla.

CAMILLA

Not far enough, perra!

Camilla then takes her chancla and alternates between

beating the Observer with the sandal and stabbing her with

the prongs of her hand-taser.

INT. OBSERVATORY, DUNGEONS

The trio of young witches are guided down the causeways by

Belos' ghost, reappearing and disappearing at every turn.

They finally arrive in the chamber containing Hunter's

slime tank.

He slumbers in the gel, his body slowly mutating into the

black ichor of the Titans. Before the young witches can

approach him, the chamber is rocked by a deep mechanical

groan.

A silo in the ceiling opens, dropping several large

mechanical pieces that magically assemble themselves into a

huge automaton guardian.

GUS

(to Belos)

Uh, a little help here?

BELOS

I'm a ghost, not a guardian angel.

Belos' ghost disappears. Leaving them to fight the

mechanical guardian.

Amity shoots slime grenades into its joints to slow it

down. Amity bombards it with exploding seed pods. As

they're fighting, Gus sneaks over to Hunter's tank and

breaks through the glass.

Hunter staggers to his feet, slowly rousing awake.

GUS

Take it easy. We're getting you out

of here.

Hunter examines his mutated arm and left side of his face

in the glass tank's reflection. He then turns to see Willow

and Amity fighting the guardian.

He wordlessly steps toward the mechanical construct and

unhinges his jaw, inhaling a stream of magic from the

swirling gyrosphere it has in place of a head. The guardian

slowly weakens and falls apart.

HUNTER

The Observer wants me to be a

monster...?

His eyes menacingly glow blue, frightening the other young

witches.

HUNTER (cont'd)

...I can be a monster.

INT. OBSERVER'S STUDY

Camilla continues beating on the Observer.

LUZ

Go, Mom!

Finally losing patientce, the Observer seizes Camilla and

throws her into the wall.

LUZ (cont'd)

NO, MOM!

King manages to throw his glaive into the constellarium,

shattering it.

Before they can make it across the room, the Observer

rushes to her desk and throws another lever.

INT. GRAND CHAMBER

The massive orrery slowly churns into gear, spinning it's

gyres with increased velocity.

INT. OBSERVER'S STUDY

The Observer is nearly mobbed before she can finish her

spell circle, sending her attackers flying to the corners

of the room. William is tossed out onto the balcony,

crashing into a potted plant.

THE OBSERVER

Enough of this! I'll find another

way to destroy the Boiling Isles.

Just so long as I can destroy YOU!

A fierce battle erupts in the Observer's study as William

staggers to his feet. Exhausted, he leans on the balcony

railing, groaning a silent prayer.

WILLIAM

(panting)

Father...whatever sacred bond you

were blustering about...*groan* I

could sure use it now...

It is then he looks up to see the sun fully eclipsed by the

moon. The Day of Unity is at hand. William has flashbacks

to the sight of Belos using the celestial event to harvest

the magic of the Isles.

WILLIAM (cont'd)

(realizing)

The Day of Unity...Well, if that

isn't an ancient power-

William takes a knee, leaning on his sword and gazing into

its reflection.

CUT TO:

EXT. BONESBOROUGH, DOWNTOWN - NIGHT

The City's leaders all try to shepherd the fleeing citizens

of Bonesborough away from the path of the Titans. The Head

Witches wave people into the Library or Convention Center

to take shelter. Warden Wrath points to the old

Conformatorium.

WARDEN WRATH

Everyone, into the Conformatorium.

The citizens blink with hesitation, trading awkward

glances.

WARDEN WRATH (cont'd)

I promise it's just temporary.

INT. CONVENTION CENTER

Panicked citizens pool into the convention center. The

Healing Coven has set up a makeshift hospital to tend the

wounded. Eda brings a wounded Raine to one of these beds

and sets him down.

MASON

How long can we hold out in here?

GENERAL TARAK

Just long enough to get the people

out through the sewers. From there

we'll have to take our chances in

the wilderness.

ALADOR

So...this is truly the end?

THE KEEPER

Don't say that. We haven't lost yet.

EDA

We sure aren't winning any time soon

either...

The Coven Witches all hang their heads in defeat.

WILLIAM (V.O.)

No, there is still hope!

William's voice echoes in their heads.

WILLIAM (V.O.) (cont'd)

People of the Isles. Hear me!

The people look up and around, astonished. The refugees

hiding in the city, the students of Hexside-everyone can

hear his voice.

WILLIAM (V.O.) (cont'd)

These past few years I have striven

to do right by you, to protect and

lead you through our darkest days.

But there is only so much I can do

alone.

EXT. OBSERVATORY BALCONY

William speaks through his sword, its blade glowing with

green light.

WILLIAM

After winning the right to use your

magic freely-after having given so

much of it on Days of Unity past, I

know I have no right to ask it of

you now.

The eclipse comes to completion, bathing the Demon Realm in

it's golden light.

EXT. THE BOILING ISLES

WILLIAM (V.O.)

But I beseech you, as your Lord

Regent-no, as your KING! Give me

the power to vanquish these usurpers

and build us a bright and glorious

FUTURE!

The people of the Isles are inspired by his words. They

looks up at the eclipsed sun and then to their wrists. Many

of their Coven brands are faded or covered up, but they

raise their hands to the sky now, letting them glow

brightly.

Tendrils of magical energy bleed from their arms and race

up into the sky by the millions. They then veer towards the

observatory and slam into the hilt of William's sword.

INT. OBSERVER'S STUDY

The Observer has nearly trounced her attackers, having

either blasted them into the wall or grappled them in her

telekinetic hold.

THE OBSERVER

A valiant effort, my odious friends.

But still in vain-wuh? AGH!

The room is flooded by a blinding golden light emanating

from the balcony.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

Ye gods! What now?! *gasp*

All in the room are transfixed by the sight of William,

transformed by the magic into a radiant being of light. He

has grown into a giant, clad in shining plate armor. His

head is ringed by a halo, his eyes glowing gold and his

hair lengthened into a billowing bronze mane.

GOD-EMPEROR WILHELM

Observer...bear witness to the might

of my people.

He levels his sword at the Observer and lunges into battle.

The two of them clash, their power unleashing a shockwave

that demolishes the tower around them. Instead of

collapsing in on them, the rubble is frozen in time,

suspended in zero-gravity.

The others take cover and watch as the Observer and William

continue their clash, slamming into each other at blinding

speeds. They both become a blur of indistinguishable gold

and blue streaks.

After a harrowing melee, the golden streak overcomes the

blue one, slamming it down into the floor of the ruined

tower. As the dust clears, William can be seen looming over

the vanquished Observer, holding her at sword-point.

GOD-EMPEROR WILHELM (cont'd)

(panting)

Yield...Call off your Titans.

THE OBSERVER

(coughing)

I can't...They're beyond my control.

I couldn't stop them now even if I

wanted to!

William hoists her up by the cloak.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

But with your power, you could slay

them easily!

(devious)

It would only mean...leaving me

alone with your friends...

His eyes widen and he looks over at Luz. She runs up to

him.

LUZ

Go. We can hold her off for a little

while.

GOD-EMPEROR WILHELM

No...I can't leave you in the

clutches of this-!

LUZ

-Your people need you...

She gives him a pained smile of reassurance.

LUZ (cont'd)

...even more than I do...

He bitterly turns away and cuts open a portal with his

sword.

GOD-EMPEROR WILHELM

Be strong. I'll be back soon.

He then disappears into the portal. The other infiltrators

surround the crater where the Observer catches her breath.

THE OBSERVER

(panting)

Oh...so close. And yet, so far.

She then starts to chortle, hovering in the air and

charging up her spells. The witches brace themselves for

the fight of their lives.

CUT TO:

INT. CONVENTION CENTER - NIGHT

One of the remaining Titans lifts the roof off the

convention center to attack the people inside. A shower of

rubble falls on the fleeing citizens, but Eda reflexively

casts a spell to levitate the crumbling debris away.

EDA

Hey, I actually managed to cast a

spell!

She then turns to the Titan, summoning her staff with a

look of fiery determination.

EDA (cont'd)

You're in for it now.

She rises into the air engulfing the Titan in her most

powerful magical attacks. It staggers back from the

building, frightened of her power.

She then weaves between it's flailing arms as it tries to

fight back. Landing on a rooftop, she conjures several

massive stone tendrils from the surrounding pavement and

masonry, all in the shape of an owl's head.

They wrap themselves around the Titan, restraining it for

her final finishing blow. As the dust clears, she pats her

hands off with a look of accomplishment.

EDA (cont'd)

Yup. The Owl Lady's still got it!

Raine watches the spectacle, smitten.

Nearby, another Titan begins charging at Eda.

RAINE

Look out!

She barely has time to turn before the Titan is pulverized

into the ground by what looks like a golden comet.

RAINE (cont'd)

(astonished)

Whoa! "Still got it"?! You're even

stronger than before!

EDA

(confused)

That one wasn't me...

Just then, William emerges from the smoking crater. He

magically grows even larger in size until he is equal in

height with the last three Titans.

Enraged, the monster charge at their new challenger.

William cuts one of them down in a single swipe of his

sword. The other two manage to grapple his arms,

restraining him.

Eda flies into the air and bombards one of them in the back

with a massive, blast, allowing William to shrug it off.

The Titanic battle continues with the people of

Bonesborough cheering on their saviors from the streets

below.

EXT. OBSERVATORY

Luz's friends barely manage to hold their own against the

Observer's onslaught. King manages to keep her at bay with

his sonic howls, but she eventually manages to weave behind

it and blast him across the pavement.

LUZ

KING!

Luz rushes over to him. His skull-covered head is covered

in a web of cracks. Enraged, Luz turns and unleashes her

mightiest spell, a single attack containing traces of all

the magical glyphs.

The Observer manages to weather the blow and spirals

towards Luz to unleash a torrent of her own. Luz summons a

shield to protect King and Camilla, but it instantly

shatters, leaving them all at the Observer's mercy.

THE OBSERVER

Finally. Now you see how futile all

of this was.

She restrains them all in tendrils of golden light,

preparing to erase them from existence.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

But I suppose this wouldn't have

been as much fun if you'd been wise

enough to give up. Watching mortals

struggle against the inevitable is

the spice of eternity, wouldn't you

say-?

She is interrupted when her tendrils of energy seem to be

sucked away. The Observer turns to see Hunter standing at

the edge of the arena, distending his mutated jaws to

engulf the Observer's magic.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

(struggling)

Gagh! No! You're rushing the

process!

The Observer tries to float away, but Amity, Gus, and

Willow arrive to restrain her. She tries to cut herself

free, but is drawn ever closer to Hunter's maw.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

You want magic? Fine! I have plenty

to spare!

She manages to get a hand free and fills Hunter's maw with

a magical sphere of light that makes him choke.

With another spell, the Observer blasts the remaining

witches off their feet. Now no one is left with the

strength to fight her.

EXT. BONESBOROUGH

William brings the battle to a close by bifurcating one of

the Titans with a mighty swing, and decapitating the other.

The battle won, William collapses to his knee with

exhaustion. Above his mighty panting, he hears the cheers

of his jubilant subjects.

The sight of their adoration is nearly enough to bring a

tear to the sovereign's eye. However, he quickly remembers

he is needed elsewhere. He shrinks back to his former

(though not normal) size and turns to Eda.

GOD-EMPEROR WILHELM

I must go. This battle isn't won

yet.

He then tries to slash open another portal with his sword,

but it instantly collapses. Shocked, William inspects his

hands to see the golden glow of his aura beginning to

diminish.

GOD-EMPEROR WILHELM (cont'd)

No! It's fading already!

He looks back up toward the Observatory in alarm. Mustering

his remaining power, he rockets off into the sky.

EXT. OBSERVATORY

The Observer has all of her attackers restrained,

telekinetically floating in the air.

THE OBSERVER

(panting)

Why...do you fight so hard...to

protect such short, meaningless

lives?!

Those with the strength left to do so, chafe and struggle

against the Observer's grasp.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

What little significance they held

was thanks to my magic-my

innovation! And I have the sole

right to take it away!

Their bodies begin glowing gold and dissolving into dust.

EXT. SKIES OVER THE BOILING ISLES

William streaks through the sky like a shooting star,

racing toward the Observatory. From both the blinding speed

and his desperation, his eye leaks a tear.

He clutches Luz's game-device, the last token of her

affections, tightly in his golden talons.

EXT. OBSERVATORY

Their bodies slowly start dissolving as the Observer

continues her tirade.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

You can show your gratitude by

ceasing this asinine resistance...

and yielding to oblivion...

Camilla turns and looks at Luz, both of them shedding

tears.

EXT. NIGHT SKY

William closes in on the Observatory, but his aura of demi-

god power has faded away. His palisman transforms back into

a staff to carry him the remaining distance.

EXT. OBSERVATORY

CAMILLA

Mija...I just want you know...I

don't regret anything. I'm so glad I

could share this adventure with you.

LUZ

Mamá...

THE OBSERVER

Oh, how touching! *laughs*

The Observer's final, triumphant chortle is interrupted

when a piece of parchment floats down on top of her head.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

What in blazes...?

She bemusedly crumples the letter in her hand and looks

around.

HOOTY

Since it wasn't official before,

here's my letter of resignation!

Lilith and Hooty hover over her head with smug looks on

their faces.

LILITH

I'd let them go if I were you.

Incredulous, the Observer flies up and meets her, face to

moon-face.

THE OBSERVER

And just why should I?!

LILITH

(blasé)

Look down.

The Observer's hood slants down towards the ground. She

gasps with horror.

THE OBSERVER

No...NO!

The Observer climbs higher in the air and spins around,

taking in the sight of her Observatory.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

No! No, no. NonoNOnonNONONONOOOOO!

This can't be happening!

Deep furrows are carved into the buildings and

thoroughfares of the Observatory complex. From the air,

they all converge into the shape of a truly massive

dispelling glyph.

Enraged, the Observer charges at Lilith, but is halted as

she waves a magical spark at the tip of her finger.

LILITH

(wagging a finger)

Nuh-uh-uhhh! All it takes is a

little spark-!

HOOTY

-And BOOOM! All your hard work is

up in smoke!

THE OBSERVER

You wouldn't dare!

LILITH

Try me...

The Observer waves her arm, releasing the trapped witches

and letting them fall to the ground.

THE OBSERVER

Please! You don't know what you're

doing!

HOOTY

(happy flailing)

Gee, what else is new?

LILITH

(sarcastic)

So, we're not thwarting your attempt

to end all civilization...?

THE OBSERVER

It will be the end if you activate

that glyph! With the blood of the

Titans depleted and my millennia of

work gone, magic will have no way to

manifest itself in your world

anymore-in any world!

Realms like The Boiling Isles might

never emerge again!

LUZ

Then instead of trying to destroy

them, why don't you help make them

last?!

THE OBSERVER

Oh, you foolish child...

The Observer floats down to Luz, circling around her.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

Nothing built by mortals can last.

Their empires rise and fall like the

sun-change like the moon! The only

way your kind can know magic from

one era to the next is through

timeless beings like me!

(suspecting)

But you already know this, don't

you...?

Luz betrays the slightest hint of nervousness.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

(laughing)

You do! This is all just a bluff,

isn't it?!

You wouldn't risk eliminating the

one thing that gives your life

purpose! How could you ever bring

yourself to destroy something as

powerful-as special-

(enraptured)

As wonderful as...magic?!

Luz deliberates with herself for a moment...until she looks

back at Camilla. A determined smile crosses her face.

LUZ

My life had magic in it long before

I came here...

LILITH! NOW!

THE OBSERVER

NOOOOO!

Lilith flings the spark down at the ground, igniting the

glyph. The ground begins to thrum with power, a golden glow

slowly traveling through the furrows in the asteroid.

Horrified, the Observer brushes past the witches and flies

into the remains of her Observatory tower.

LUZ

Let's get outta here!

The witches all take to their staves and fly clear off the

floating asteroid.

Meanwhile, the Observer frantically tears through the

remains of her library, trying to salvage whatever scrolls

and instruments she can.

THE OBSERVER

I can still make it! Just the

essentials and I can start over!

Yes! Yes! NO! NonoNO!

As fast as she darts through her research, she can't keep

up with the magical glow enveloping the entire complex. The

spell crescendos louder and louder until the whole asteroid

is bathed in golden light.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

NO! NONONONONO!

The Observer flies out of her tower with whatever material

can fit in her arms. She bolts straight for the witches as

they hover in midair, watching the palace being consumed.

THE OBSERVER (cont'd)

NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo...!

The Observer's protests slowly fade as she, her trappings,

and her entire Observatory dissolve into dust and float

into the sky.

After several moments of haunting silence, the only thing

that greets the sun as it moves past the moon is a

featureless asteroid orbiting the Demon Realm.

LILITH

(reflective)

It's finally over...

Luz sheds a single, mournful tear.

The melancholy is then suddenly broken as William collides

with Luz's staff. They are sent careening in a flat spin

toward the bare asteroid, crashing together in a heap..

WILLIAM

LUZ! Oh, Luz, mein gott! I thought

I'd never make it!

LUZ

(laughing)

Will!

As they stagger back to their feet, William impulsively

draws her in for a hug...and then a kiss...

Surprised at first, Luz slowly gives in.

CAMILLA

Umm...*erherm*

After a few moments locked together in bliss, they

awkwardly break away to see Luz's friends donning

mischievous smiles and Camilla nervously milling around.

WILLIAM

(awkward)

*erherm* Ms. Noceda. With your

blessing, I would take your

daughter's hand in courtsh-

LUZ

-A little late for that, don't you

think...?

Luz smiles and pulls him into another kiss. Their friends

all cheer as the camera pans away.

CROSSFADE TO:

INT. GRAVESFIELD, THE NOCEDA RESIDENCE - MORNING

An envelope slides through a mail-slot and is quickly

picked up by Vee. She takes it into the living-room and

opens it as she listens to a national news program,

headlined: INTER-DIMENSIONAL INVADERS?

Jacob Hopkins is the guest speaker.

Vee opens the letter and reads.

LUZ (V.O.)

Dear Vee,

Not much has happened since my last

letter, but I just wanted to follow

up...

INT. BONESBOROUGH HOSPITAL

The humans who were mutated into Titans undergo physical

therapy and treatments under Head Witch Cutburn's

supervision. Luz and Hunter watch them from an observation

room.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

Some of the human kids who were

transformed into Titans will be

ready to leave the hospital soon.

They are approached by several odd-looking witches. Luz

doesn't recognize them at first, but then remembers they

are the witches who were cursed into beasts by The

Observer.

They embrace and have a friendly chat.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

In time, there will be nothing left

of the Observer but a bad memory.

EXT. PARADE GROUNDS

Hunter straightens his new city-guard uniform and prepares

to receive a model of commendation from Lord William.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

Hunter is ready to begin his new

life as a city guard for

Bonesborough. We're all so proud of

him.

He turns and is filled with pride as the other assembled

guards salute him and shake his hand.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

He ships off to basic training

tomorrow...which I think Will is a

little too excited about.

The officers then brandish long sticks with crab claws

growing out of them. Hunter gulps and leads them on a chase

through the town square. William joins them with relish.

EXT. MARKET SQUARE

Eda and Raine put the finishing touches on a new store-

front. The sign reads: Clawthorne Creatures and Creations.

They are joined by Lilith and Gwendolyn for their grand-

opening.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

Eda has opened her new store in the

marketplace. It's so cool! Palismans

new and old will find loving homes

there!

Prospective customers flood the store, marveling at the

scrimshaw, wood-carvings, art, and of course the cute

little palisman waiting to be adopted.

Warden Wrath helps his son, Braxas, pick out his first

palisman.

A framed portrait of Dell Clawthorne is mounted above the

counter, watching over the store with pride.

EXT. BONESBOROUGH MUSEUM OF ANCIENT HISTORY

Lilith welcomes visitors to the Museum and shows them the

artifacts that led to the discovery of the dispelling

glyph.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

The Bonesborough Museum just

celebrated it's remodeling. They had

to add an entire wing just to house

all the cool artifacts Lilith and

Hooty discovered.

Hooty gives tours to children, amusing them with his

antics.

EXT. BARGHEST VILLAGE

King strides up a ceremonial altar, surrounded by his

fellow tribesmen. General Tarak smiles and bestows him an

elaborately carved glaive and then garbs him in the robe of

the Tribal chief.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

King was anointed as the Barghest

Tribe's new chief last month.

He raises his weapon in the air with a savage war cry,

followed by the jubilant howls of his kin. The Clawthornes

roar almost as loudly.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

Sure, he's a fierce warrior now...

(cutesy)

But he'll always be my wittle boo-

boo buddy!

Luz marches up to give King a hug and mess his hair.

INT. OWL HOUSE, SPARE BEDROOM

Camilla begins packing a bag.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

I was worried Mom was going to leave

the Boiling Isles after the close

call we had with The Observer.

She goes out the door with a determined expression.

INT. VETERINARIAN'S OFFICE

She arrives at a clinic to perform a dental exam on a

slither-beast under Gwendolyn Clawthorne's guidance.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

But, to my surprise, she's embraced

the weirdness even more since then.

She's trying her hand at beast-

taming now.

The slither-beast opens it's fang-filled maw to reveal

parasitic worms wriggling between its teeth. Camilla

grimaces with disgust, but steels herself and plunges in

with a pair of tweezers.

EXT. PALISTROM TREE GROVE

Willow oversees Odalia Blight performing community service

by helping to plant Palistrom tree seedlings. Odalia wipes

her brow, leaning on her rake with exhaustion.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

The Palistrom Grove is coming along

nicely. It'll be even more important

to keep it growing now that the

Palistrom trees are our world's only

source of magic.

She's surprised to see Amity, Ederic, Emira, and Alador

taking shovels and joining her. She smiles and happily

works alongside them.

INT. HEXSIDE GRUDGBY COURT

Willow celebrates her first Flyer Derby tournament win,

being carried off by her cheering team and doused in green

sports-drink.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

When Willow's not tending the grove,

she's dominating the Flyer Derby

scene. I know you don't care for

sports much, but it felt worth

mentioning.

They put her trophy on display in the school award cabinet

next to Boscha's Grudgby Championship Cup. In the

Gymnasium, Principal Bump passes the mantle of Principal to

the Illusions Teacher and retires to become a gardener.

INT. TV STUDIO

Gus gives a presentation for a news segment, demonstrating

the usage of various human "artifacts" to his viewers. Matt

is his camera-man.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

The Human and Demon worlds will

collide eventually, so the

Bonesborough Embassy has put Gus in

charge of its human education

program.

Gus' father watches proudly from a director's chair.

INT. SUBTERRANEAN LAB

Mr. Wayde oversees an experiment on a book from the

Bonesborough library, housed in a plexiglass cube. As he

examines it, it turns into a toothy, tentacled monstrosity.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

Speaking of, have you heard anything

from the Bureau lately? They haven't

been returning my calls...

He gestures for a technician to pull a switch, activating a

trifecta of antenna's assembled around the cube. They pulse

with a purple energy and suddenly the monstrosity morphs

back into a normal book.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

We didn't exactly part on the best

terms...But I'm sure everything's

fine...

Mr. Wayde returns to his desk and steeples his fingers as

he examines several files on Luz, William, and other

persons of note in the Boiling Isles.

EXT. ROC'S LANDING, GARUDA CANYON

Empok T'Zoah stands over his legions of bird-men warriors,

whipping them into a frenzy.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

On our end, we've been hearing some

worrying things from the scouts we

sent to Roc's Landing.

A map of the Boiling Isles is hung behind him, marked with

troop movements and battle plans.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

There may be trouble soon. *sigh*

Oh, well. At least things are never

boring here...

INT. NOCEDA RESIDENCE

Vee finishes reading the letter.

LUZ (V.O.) (cont'd)

So, yeah. That's pretty much

everything. Wish you were here!

With love,

Luz, the Human

Vee squints her eyes at an addendum written in another

person's hand-writing.

CAMILLA (V.O.)

(whispering)

?Qué tal, cariña? We're planning a

little something and we wanted you

to-

The voice trails off in Vee's head. She smiles excitedly

and grabs her day bag.

INT. ABANDONED HOUSE

Vee morphs into her basilisk form and slithers through the

portal door into the Demon Realm.

CUT TO:

EXT. THE OWL HOUSE, FRONT YARD

Vee morphs into her basilisk form and guides Luz outside,

blindfolded.

VEE

Hurry, hurry!

LUZ

Hey, what's going on? What's with

the blindfold?

VEE

You'll see, just hurry.

Luz can hear hushed whispers and excited murmuring all

around her.

VEE (cont'd)

Okay, take it off!

EVERYONE

Surprise!

She removes the blindfold to see all her friends and

relations gathered to celebrate her Quinceañera. Everyone

applauds as William walks up and kisses her hand.

LUZ

(shocked)

You guys! What is this?!

EDA

Well, since you spent your fifteenth

birthday helping us rebuild the

Isles-

KING

-And sixteenth, and seventeenth...

WILLIAM

We thought we'd make up for lost

time!

WILLOW

Camilla told us all about your

Quinceañeras from the Human Realm.

GUS

And they sounded a lot less haunted

than our birthdays.

LILITH

(unfurling a

scroll)

Nevertheless, I made sure we

followed Camilla's instructions

perfectly!

CAMILLA

I, uhm...

Hooty has made a structure with a Snaggleback hanging

downwards. It is titled "Pain-yata." The Bat Children come

by holding a purple dress made of spider webs. Hooty takes

a bite of Good-Witch Azura themed cake. Hundreds of spiders

pour out and engulf him as he smiles widely.

CAMILLA (cont'd)

Great work everyone!

(thumbs up)

Muy bueno!

WILLIAM

Well, in Ossigard we'd celebrate our

birthdays with ale!

(shouting)

Haul it out!

General Tarak and Warden Wrath haul out enormous casks of

ale over their shoulders and pour them into steins. The

Bards start playing a festive tune and William invites Luz

to dance.

LATER

After the festivities wind down, Luz sits on the edge of

the seaside cliff. Eda and King join her.

LUZ

Eda, King, thank you. For

everything.

EDA

Right back at ya, kiddo.

LUZ

(offering her hand)

Weirdos?

EDA & KING

Weirdos.

The two take her hand as she tearfully smiles.

WILLIAM

I suppose these days I'm as weird as

they come.

William marches up and sits down beside Luz.

WILLIAM (cont'd)

(to Eda and King)

Might I have a word with the

birthday girl?

They nod and rejoin the party. William then takes out a

parcel and hands it to Luz.

WILLIAM (cont'd)

I wanted to give you my gift.

She unwraps the parcel to see a shining green emerald

embedded in the box's foam lining.

LUZ

Oh, hey! It's that green gem you had

in your tiara thingy.

WILLIAM

-Circlet...

Luz takes the gem out of the foam to discover a brass ring

attached beneath it. Luz's eyes widen in shock.

LUZ

Is...is this-?

WILLIAM

(smiling)

-You don't have to answer straight

away. Just promise that if ever

again I'm asleep to the world...

you'll be there to wake me.

They look into each others' eyes and crane together for

another kiss.

EDA

Everybody inside for dessert! We've

got ice cream in the fridge!

HOOTY

Don't fall for it! She buys it from

the night market!

Everybody laughs and follows Eda inside. William gets up

and joins them. Luz slips the ring on her finger and

follows as well. One by one, they disappear inside the

door.

LUZ (V.O.)

No matter who you are or where

you're from...if you're a weirdo,

there will always be a place for

you...in The Owl House...

The Owl House's eye-shaped window blinks-or rather,

"winks"-at the camera.

FADE OUT:

THE END

Thank you for reading. Though I love the Owl House, I felt

like this was the ending the show truly deserved. Farewell.
