The figure had used a laser his gauntlet to get through the window of the building and got in. He found his way to the security room so that he could disable it. He them climbed onto the walls and started exploring the building until he found a certain lab where Mason was packing up his stuff along with Flash. "...All I am saying Mr boss man is that you or Doctor Kingsley could have a talk with Ms Hammer about my proposal... A collaboration between Hammer and Flash Mob... Influencers are the present and future, a whole new way of revealing new announcements!" Flash was telling Mason who was trying to at least pretend that he was listening in.
However the figure then dropped from the ground causing Mason to jump and Flash to take a step back as he tried to reach out for his backpack which had his phone. "You... Were on the ceiling... You have..." Mason muttered out and the figure came closer.
"The anti-gravity boosters you made when you worked with Toomes... Was interested in them and I managed to find your old hideout before Damage Control got to it.." the figure then told Mason as he got closer. "Now you are going to tell me where you have the other weapons stashed." the figure then warned Mason who gulped.
"What other weapons... I make rescue stuff for Hammer now... Creating and dealing weapons on the black market is behind me now..." Mason said as the figure shook his head.
"You remade your old boss's wings for rescue... Plus I got intel that says otherwise so you should stop treating me like a fool..." the figure warned Mason as he pointed to the Hobgoblin wings and then picked him up.
"Leave him alone masked bad guy!" Ned said dramatically as he then charged at the figure and got him down and then started punching him as Flash was in awe but the figure got him off. The figure then noticed Mason running away and then started following.
He then caught up to Mason and he then shouted "I will talk... Let me show you..." Mason then showed him to a special door and entered a code and used his ID to get in and showed some other gadgets including a sword device. Mason then picked it up and turned it on which turned to creating a glowing heat handle. There were also handheld devices; "Flame sword hot enough to get through most stuff and miniature bomb devices..."Mason explained.
"Sales pitch is over purple guy..." Peter said making himself known as Spider-Man webbing the figure's hand to the desk and he used his gauntlet's laser to cut himself free. Then Felicia came to whip the figure's hand. but he used this to pull her away.
"Webbing my hand again Spider-Man like you did all those years ago, me stuck to my car... Right after I gave you intel on where Gargan and Toomes were meeting and gave you advice on being better on that part of the job. You can call me Prowler." the figure then said shaking his head. "Plus Black Cat... I must say that you left a hole in the thieves community when you went hero; more stuff for the rest of us to steal..." Prowler then said dodging some kicks that Felicia was sending his way as Peter then went to fighting him with punches with Prowler barely able to hold on.
"Well then Prowler... I like my new line of work better..." Felicia then replied and he was using his laser to give warning shots with Peter then pushing Felicia to the ground for them to avoid.
"Well I can barely remember what you are talking about Prowler but nice suit and gadgets... Well what have you been doing with yourself?" Peter then joked as Prowler shook his head.
"I was sent somewhere some time ago and I barely managed to get home using some sort of machine using chaos of the place of Spider people doing big brother type stuff to the Multiverse I think they called it... Most of them CGI looking like people and I felt like I was in Roger Rabbit... Pretty sure one of them looked like my nephew... I was sent there after finding myself in some strange world where I was picked up by British punk rock Spider-Man..." Prowler told them as they just stared at him.
"Okay... I admittingly don't know too much about the Multiverse or the magic that was used but sorry that it happened to you..." Peter said as Prowler leaped at him and Peter dodged and tackled him until he got up and then leaped through an open window. Peter and Felicia followed him down as he ran down the wall as police cars and trucks turned up but soon came cars and bikers with guns that started firing at the police officers as they had rocket launchers with them.
Peter and Felicia began focusing on fighting the criminals as Prowler went up to one of them and said "What are you doing... I didn't need back up... Plus you really think that you can take on the police, Spider-Man and Black Cat?"
Prowler then found guns firing at him and he was sent to the ground. "We don't need to outfight them... Just keep them distracted until we take care of you... Boss wanted us nearby for if Spider-Man showed up and if it became clear that you wouldn't be able to pull this off... Can't let you spilling Prowler..." one of them said aiming a rocket launcher at Prowler but then a figure from the sky soared down and then sent bomb devices to their trucks blowing them up. The criminals then began firing at the figure as it went down.
It turned out to be someone wearing the Hobgoblin suit and flight pack and he got out the Flame Sword turning it on. He then flew up to the trucks and bikes to slice them in half and the criminals came closer and he knocked them down with his strength and speed. Peer and Felicia then noticed him and the police officers and some civilians who were lured in by all the noise and catastrophes with their phones.
"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds and I am the Hobgoblin to put a stop to the end to the foolish consistency of crime!" the figure then said as the heroes and police officers then took care of the criminals with most of them surrendering when they saw that their rides were taken care of. Peter was open mouthed behind his mask as Felicia was confused. "Spider-Man... I hope that this is the beginning of a new partnership for us and lovely to see you Black Cat... Until our next meeting fellow heroes." Hobgoblin said as he then used the wings to fly up to the sky again and using a Sling Ring on his hand, he then opened up a portal to go through.
Peter and Felicia had decided to start leaving as the Prowler took advantage to make his escape. "So now we have a Hobgoblin hero who not only has some tech but can create portals..." Felicia asked as Peter was deep in thought.
"Tech and a suit that was made by my employers; my work station has been working on those wings and suit..." Peter then told her and she was taken aback as they thought of the implications. "Whoever this Hobgoblin is; they are a co-worker..." Peter then continued.
The next morning MJ went up to Ned's house to furiously knock on his door, she was greeted by Ned's Lola who let her in and called for Ned. MJ then went up to meet Ned at the door of his room as she barged in. "MJ; what are you doing..." Ned asked as she started looking through his stuff.
"Where are you keeping them Ned? The Hobgoblin stuff..." MJ asked as Ned took a step back. Ned got her arm as she got out her phone and put it on a news app to show a news article revealing that Spider-Man and Black Cat had tackled a masked criminal who broke into the Hammer Industries building, criminals had intercepted the police called but they had help being taken down by a figure called the Hobgoblin in a flying winged suit and disappeared through a portal.
"So... Hammer Industries used their stuff to create a new hero and they must have wizard on the payroll... Awesome..." Ned then said looking surprised as MJ looked at him shaking her head. "You... Think that it's me..." Ned asked.
"Ned; don't try and treat me like a foolish idiot... I know that it's you! He used a magic Sling Ring, he used the Hobgoblin quote that Doctor Kingsley used... Wonder where he got that from... I saw it happen before going home after the Hobgoblin left... I saw you enter through the entrance and never come out..." MJ told him putting the pieces that she had together but Ned held firm.
"I just wanted to see if I can help but I was pushed aside... I realised how scary it was..." Ned then said as MJ then managed to look more serious.
"Do you not know how serious this is Ned? I know you want your superhero origin but taking the Hobgoblin stuff for your suit... Hammer Industries who we work for; will be wanting to investigate to find out who stole their stuff and how they knew about it... Only a matter of time before they realise who it is!" MJ warned him as Ned thought it over.
"Suppose that I am this new Hobgoblin... How could I hide the stuff in here?" Ned asked gesturing to his room.
"You have a portal ring... You could have somewhere else to hide them that you go to with this..." MJ said reaching for the Sling Ring in an open box with another magical artefact. however MJ then ended up accidentally touching it...
"You better... if you don't... I'm just gonna figure it out.. I've done it before, I can do it again..."
MJ blinked in shock; "Okay... What was that..." MJ asked in disbelief as she held her head as some sort of memory appeared in her head as Ned looked confused and concerned.
Doing an expansion on the MCU Prowler having made a costumed cameo in Across the Spider-Verse and I took the opportunity to use that as an excuse to add the animated Sony Spider-Verse movies to the works tab of this story on AO3:)! Plus Hobgoblin has some precedence in using magic as in the miniseries Symbiote Spider-Man: Alien Reality, the altered reality there had Black Widow as the Red Cat and Spidey's girlfriend, Uncle Ben was alive, Kraven the Hunter was a friend and ally of Spidey's and the Hobgoblin was Sorcerer Supreme. Plus here he uses the Flame Sword used by the Phil Urich version just like he uses the wings from that version.
