Chapter 38

Violet came into the room. "What do you got here?" She questioned smoothing out the legs of her pants that she was wearing. Her brows furrowed looking at the dead creature that was upon the table. This was the thing that she was called in for? It wasn't the first time that she was called in for something odd like this, but she could only hope that she wouldn't have to deal with another death of her colleagues. It had been a rough few years since Howard and his beloved wife had died, but she promised Howard that she would keep Shield going for as long as possible.

"All life on Earth is carbon-based, not this guy. Whatever he runs on, it's not on the periodic table." The medical examiner said, looking back down at the body.

"You're saying he's not from around here?" Fury questioned crossing his arms.

"Hey, how's your eye?"

"Well, I'd say fine. But it can't believe what it's seeing."

"You said that this thing looked like Coulson?" The director questioned looking at Fury.

"Talked like him too."

"The woman said that there were more?"

"The word she used was infiltration."

"Believe her?" Violet questioned coming over.

"Not 'till I say this."

"What's your plan?" The director questioned.

"I got to find Blockbuster girl. I got word on a motorcycle thief which fits her description. She can tell us why these lizards are here, maybe she can tell us how to kick them to the curb."

"Good. Do it alone though. Can't trust anyone. Not even our own men."

"Yes sir."

Violet shook her head following Fury out of the room. "You can't do it alone Fury." She said following him.

"Howlett thought you wouldn't want to be out on the field again."

Violet rolled her eyes. "Must you always bring up the last time that I was in the field? All I want to do is help. That creature…"

"Skrull."

"Right. It's not human and shouldn't be here."

"Well you of course want to help because that's who you are."

Violet nodded her head. "Exactly. Now care to tell me who we're after?"

"A woman that goes by the name of Vers."

Violet's brow raised in confusion. "Vers?"

"I know what you are thinking Howlett."

"What kind of name is even Vers?" She shook her head lightly in thought. "Guess that is what we get for dealing with people in this world." She followed him down to the garage.

Fury unlocked the car. "You know the director wanted me to do this alone."

"Something didn't feel right about him."

"What do you mean?"

"His smell."

"You and your sense of smell. You could be wrong, you know."

Violet got into the car. "Now, my nose is never wrong, Fury, you know that."

Fury let out a breath shaking his head knowing that Violet was right. She was hardly ever wrong when it came to things. "Sometimes I wonder about you."

"Well, you can stop wondering Fury." Violet said with a small sad smile. "It's something that won't go away any time soon. I'll always be like this."

"Sometimes I wonder about your story."

"One day maybe I'll tell you it Fury."

This is the end of Chapter 38. I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. I'm going to try to make this better than what the movie was. I mean the movie to me was alright, but adding in Violet maybe will make this more interesting. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. I am going to try to get the next chapter out as soon as I can. Reviews help me keep going when it comes to writing. Until next time.
