Sayu chuckled quietly as the cigarette was passed back to her. "So… Mister Beyond. What makes my brother actually seethe about you?"
The raven shrugged nonchalantly. "This is the worst I've ever seen. Maybe because he has a pretty little sister and I'm your stereotypical drug dealer?"
The brunette giggled as she took a drag off the cigarette. "Dear, there aren't too many things that are stereotypical about you."
Beyond shrugged once again while accepting the cylinder back. "If you look at me superficially, I am a little stereotypical, what separates me from the herd isn't noticeable without knowing me. But, isn't that how humans work? Aren't we all a little stereotypical until you see behind the curtain?" He winked at her as he took a long drag. "You for instance, are you a goodie two-shoes, or are you a suppressed woman who is just looking for a good time… the answer is neither. You're, you, nothing more, nothing less. It's human nature to try to compartmentalize everything and everyone. But, in real terms, it doesn't work. Humans are too dynamic to stay in a static box."
Sayu blinked a couple of times as a smile grew. "Oh, so philosophical."
Chuckling while passing the joint back to her. "Stick around and find out how smart I actually am."
Taking the item back, Sayu smiled briefly before inhaling from it. "I will, if you'll have me."
Narrowing his scarlet eyes in mild suspicion. "You're not using me to piss your brother off are you?" He licked his fingers and put the joint out after she took the last hit.
Discarding the end into the trash next to the bed, she sighed while flopping herself directly next to Beyond. "I'd be lying if I said it doesn't bring me a little joy. But, if I was going to use you for anything, it wouldn't be that, it'd be…" Her eyes trailed down to his groin. "Probably for a little more intimate reason. But, I, personally, have had a blast, at least what I can remember." She giggled out at the last part. "And for more reasons than last night and today."
Beyond ran his fingers through his onyx tresses and scoffed playfully. "At least you're honest." He laid on his side to face her. "So, what makes Sayu tick, tell me about yourself, and not the favorite color and food shit."
She narrowed her resplendent eyes playfully. "You gonna use it against me later?"
He smirked at her while answering. "Probably. Tell you what. I'll tell you about me too, then we'll be even."
She took a deep breath and sighed out. "At least you'll listen. I've always been kind of an attention whore. It's really only gotten worse in recent years. Growing up, I felt invisible next to my brother, like I only mattered as long as he was involved. No matter what I did, I never seemed to be seen. I wanted to be a painter. No one cared. But, as soon as Light didn't some great art projects, now we have art supplies in the home. I got a good grade in math? Doesn't matter, it wasn't perfect scores like Light did. I've spent my whole life in his shadow, clinging to any scrap of affection that was tossed my way."
Beyond crinkled his nose as she spoke. Once she had finished, he made a mock puke sound. "That was so relatable, it made me sick." She raised an eyebrow and tilted her head. "Mine and L's parents… Our mom was a bioengineer and our dad was a literal astrophysicist. So, even when I did get perfect scores, it didn't matter, because it was a milestone that had already been completed by someone in the household. And, fuck, L was the fucking perfect child. Never deviated from perfection. Him, deciding someone like Light, was a good match, really didn't surprise me. I've always just been second best, even though I excelled in everything I tried, L had already done it. It felt like no one noticed me until I started screwing up. The cold demeanor of even punishment didn't make it worth the trouble. So, I started seeking out affection from all the wrong sources. Decided once my needs were met, I didn't need anything else to do with them… it's just how I was raised."
"Oh god. At least our parents were mediocre. My mom is a stay at home and my dad is a police chief."
Beyond rolled back onto his back, resting his head on the pillow behind him. "I would think that would make it worse. Ah shit. Did I just sympathize with Light? Gross." Sayu rested her head on his shoulder and draped her arm over his chest while humming a questioning tone. "I can see it. He was the perfect kid, the type you'd want to grow up, get married to someone just as amazing and have more amazing kids… Only for the dipshit to turn out gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but imagine the crushing blow your dad's ego took. Maybe he doesn't even care about who he loves, but the lack of grandkids. I hear it drives some people nuts."
"Ever since Light got married, it got worse. The overbearing weight, I just feel like, my parents push me in one direction because they want what any parent wants for their kid; be normal and successful. Maybe that's why he pushes me the way he does. To escape the pressure of our parents, maybe if I can be successful and crap some kids out they'll stop looking at him so hard." Beyond snickered at her remarks. "I don't want kids, at least not right now, hell, I don't even want to go to college."
"It's a waste of time. I didn't go. I took the money they left in their will for college tuition and invested it."
Stretching her neck to look up to the raven. "So we're both the overshadowed ones. How much did they leave you?"
"200."
"Euros? That isn't munch. Can't even get into a public university… is it free here?"
Beyond stared at her blankly and blinked slowly. "Thousand. Two hundred thousand."
Sayu choked slightly. "Oh! My parents could never!" She let out a nervous laugh. They both flinched at the sound of a loud knock at the door. Her eyes drifted up to his, to gauge their reaction. She felt the pit of her stomach drop when he seemed to be gauging her reaction as well.
He furrowed his brow reaching for his clothing. "What!?"
A monotone voice came from the other side. "Beyond, can we talk?"
Scarlet eyes rolled in frustration as a sigh of relief was heard. "No."
"Very well, even though I'd very much like to talk to you. Answer me this, is Sayu with you?"
A deep sigh resounded from the raven as he slipped his clothing back on. "Fine, fuck it. Give me a second." His stare landed on her as he whispered towards her. "Get dressed."
Sayu scrambled to get her clothing on as Beyond waited at the door. A devious smirk crossed his lips as he pressed his index finger against his lips. She snickered as she threw her clothing on and flopped back on the bed. The door opened and L stepped through the door trepidatiously. "Thank you. I really just wanted to check on you. And you both left your phones at home. And, I feared for the worse when your car was located at a warehouse."
Beyond folded his arms and left the door close behind the other. "Get to the point."
L released a tiny smile. "This is the point. I just wanted to make sure you guys were fine and someone hadn't stolen your credit card."
Sayu bit her lower lip and glanced towards the sliding door of the balcony. "How's Light?"
L chuckled and shoved his hands in his pockets. "Frantic. He wanted to come but I told him, even if I did find you, you'd likely bolt again if you saw him. I've talked him down. He's willing to be civil."
Beyond scoffed in disgust. "Civil is the bare minimum. She's his sister for fucks sake, an adult one. And last I checked, she dropped a nuke of revelations on him. Nope. I don't trust him. She can go back if she wants, or she can stay here, I'll pay for it. But, I'm probably going to skip town. Every single year, L, I try to come and spend time with you, and every single year, he blows some form of a gasket and I end up leaving."
L's charcoal eyes fell onto Sayu as he sighed. "I won't stop you Beyond. And, I thank you for trying."
"One of these times, I'm going to stop coming. He needs to understand not everyone is like him. It isn't his life that anyone else is fucking up through their own decisions. I've never once asked for help, it isn't likely to start happening. So, I really don't understand the issue with me."
L sighed and slouched his shoulders. "I'm not sure. Perhaps an inferiority complex? I'm not going to try to push you two to get along. I've done what I can do. Maybe I'll come visit you next holiday and send him home." L smirked at his brother which caused him to chuckle. "Make him choose, play nice with your or his dad."
Beyond leaned against the wall and folded his arms. "I'm significantly more chill." A scarlet gaze drifted towards Sayu. "So, what'll it be, princess? Are you going to head back with L, stay here for a while, or skip town with me?" L shot a worried glance towards Beyond. "Oh come on, I'll take care of her."
L glanced down to the floor. "That would be the worry."
Sayu knit her eyebrows together at L's concern as her nostrils flared slightly in frustration. "I'm going with Beyond. I'm not a little kid, and he's the first person to treat me as a woman, not a little girl. Maybe after some soul searching, I'll know what I want out of life."
Beyond clapped his hands together. "Then it's settled."
L sighed solemnly and reached into his back pocket. "Very well. I brought your phones in case you decided not to come back today."

Sayu stared at the screen of her phone, forty-five missed calls from Light. Beyond glanced back to Sayu from the check in counter of the airport. "You sure?"
Her golden eyes left the phone screen as she finished blocking her brother's number. "I've never been more sure about anything." The raven smirked as his attention returned to the clerk. Sayu's phone lit up with another call. She sighed as the caller ID read her mom's number. "Hi mom, wait, whoa, slow down." She listened to the phone for a moment before sighing. "Mom, I'm fine. I'm with L's brother. I'm not in danger." Her eyebrows raised before glancing at Beyond. "Uh. Okay? I'll send it to you after we hang up." The raven raised an eyebrow as Sayu cleared her throat. "My mom wants proof I'm with someone?"
He chuckled and rolled his eyes. "Alright. Like what? Like a picture?"
Sayu nodded cheerfully as she readied her camera on her phone. She leaned close to the raven and had a brilliant smile, he leaned in and rested his head on her left shoulder while holding up a peace sign behind her head creating bunny ears. She giggled at the picture and sent it to her mom along with a text, 'love you! I'll text you when we land!'
She crossed through the gates while taking in the sights of the airport. "You know that picture is going to make it back to Light, right?"
Beyond shrugged as he continued with his hands in his pockets. "Good." She smiled at the photo one last time before turning her phone screen off. "So, we're going to head to my house so I can replenish my stash, and then, if you want, we can hit up Australia. Warm this time of year." Sayu stared at him in disbelief for a moment before he turned and gave her a lopsided smile. "Unless, of course, adventure isn't calling you, and you want to chill. I can deal anywhere."
