Chapter 8
The two police officers searched the treasure room, until one of them spots something different. "Hey, you need to come and see this." The other police officer walks over and sees three old shoeboxes. "Shoeboxes? Why are they in here?" One of them sniffs the air and then covers his nose. "Ew, what's that smell?" "I think it's coming from those shoeboxes. But why?"
One of the police officers slowly opens one of the shoeboxes, and then shuts it quickly. "You're right. It is coming from these boxes." "But what's in them?" The police officer gulps and says: "I think they're bodies." The other police officer stares at the shoeboxes and says: "These aren't shoeboxes, they're coffins." A few minutes later, the two police officers carried the shoeboxes up the staircase.
They placed them on the table and one of them said: "Okay. Whatever Randy's talking about it's got to be in one of these coffins." "Wait a minute, did you say coffin?" says Amanda. "Yes miss. These were placed in a room full of treasure for a reason," says the other police officer. "A room full of treasure?" says Victor. "Anyways, let's see what we got here."
The two police officers opened the shoeboxes and inside were three animal skeletons. "Oh my god," says Amanda. "I know, it's a messy job," says a police officer. Victor stares hard at the skeletons, then he realizes something. "Wait a minute, there's a dog, a cat with boots and another cat with boots. And this one has a hat as well." "Do you recognize these kid?" says the other police officer.
Victor nods and points at the skeletons one by one. "Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws and Perrito. This is Team Friendship!" Everyone gasps and Amanda says: "So they were under our feet the whole time?" "Whoever built this mansion, must have made it a hiding spot for them," says a police officer. "My dad must have found them ages ago. But why would he want me to see this?" says Victor.
"I see something, with Puss in Boots," says another police officer. He then pulls out a pair of tweezers and reaches into the shoebox. The police officer slowly pulls out a small paper and places it on the table. Using a camera, Amanda zooms in takes a photo. Then she shows it to Victor and says: "Does this look familiar to you?" Victor looks at the photo and gasps. Puss in Boots had drawn a picture of The Wolf.
"It's Mr. Wolf. From my drawing," says Victor." "How is that possible?" says Amanda." "Wait a minute, I think I can see writing," says a police officer. Amanda shows the photo to the police officer and says: "What does it say?" The police officer looks at the photo and says: "Apparently, Puss in Boots used to call The Wolf: "Muerte." "What does that mean?" says Victor.
Amanda then turns on a translator and types in Muerte. "Oh my god," says Amanda. "What is it mommy?" says Victor. "Muerte, is Spanish, for Death."
