Chapter 1: The Story Begins! Michael Gains A New Friend?

Michael slowly opened his eyes, finding himself in his bed. He then slowly sat up, clutching his head in pain.

? - "He's awake everyone!"

Michael turned towards the source of the voice, watching as a young girl with red highlights yelled out of his bedroom door down the hall.

Michael - "Is that you Ruby?"

Ruby - "Mhmm."

This is Ruby Rose, one of Michael's many childhood friends since they were little. Michael clutched his head in pain again.

Ruby - "Easy big guy. You're still recovering and just woke up."

Michael - "May I ask what happened to me?"

Ruby - "I'll let your parents be the ones to do that."

Michael - "That's fair."

Michael and Ruby then watched as his parents entered the room. Ruby moved out of the way to let John and Tracie hug their son, happy to see that he was awake and alive.

? - "Nice to see that you're alive and well kiddo."

Michael - "Thanks Qrow."

This is Qrow Branwen, Ruby's dad. Qrow works as a Pokémon Ranger, whose job is to help other people and Pokémon in need. Michael then slowly turned himself as he sat on the edge of the bed with Ruby's help. Soon 3 others joined Qrow.

? - "Nice to see you're finally awake Michael."

Michael - "Thanks for your concern, Winter. Same to you Tai-Yang, Ghira."

Tai-Yang is Qrow's Brother-In-Law. He also has a daughter with Qrow's sister Raven, named Yang Xiao Long. Ghira is also a fellow father, having a daughter named Blake Belladonna with his wife Kali. As for Winter, the lone female of the group of 4, she was actually the oldest of 3 siblings for the current generation of the Schnee family. Michael then turned back towards his parents.

Michael - "So may I ask what happened to me?"

Tracie took a deep breath before answering.

Tracie - "First off. You've been asleep for a week."

That news hit Michael like a sack of bricks.

Michael - "Wait... So then today's..."

John - "Yes."

Today was Michael's tenth birthday. He then started crying, happy that he survived what happened to him a week ago.

Michael - "Wait! What happened to Lady Reshiram and Lady Xerneas?"

Qrow - "Oh don't worry. Teams Galactic and Plasma had already fled by the time the 4 of us and your dad arrived on the scene. Then Lady Arceus appeared, freed the 2 of them from their prisons and healed your injuries to an extent as a thank you for saving them."

Michael was stunned at hearing that.

Michael - "Wait! Arceus is a woman?!"

Taiyang - "Pretty much. We were just as surprised when we saw her come down and free Reshiram and Xerneas before healing you up."

Ghira - "Anyway. Now that's Michael's awake, what say we get him downstairs so we can celebrate his birthday and becoming a trainer."

Winter - "I agree."

The adults left the room, while Ruby helped Michael stand up before he got his bearings under him. They then quickly followed everyone else downstairs. Alongside Michael's sisters, there was also Ruby's mom Summer, aunt Raven, and cousin Yang, Ghira's wife Kali and daughter Blake, Winter's parents Jacque and Willow, as well as her younger siblings Weiss and Whitley. There were also Michael's six other childhood friends in Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy, along with their families as well. He then saw that seven of the eight regional professors were here as well.

Michael - "Nice to see that most of you could make it Professor Oak."

Professor Oak - "Not at all Michael. It's always a big thing for us professors when a new trainer hits the age of 10."

Professor Elm - "Professor Magnolia and her granddaughter Sonia do apologize for not being able to make it."

Michael - "It's ok. When I do get to see her, I'll get the Galar starters from her then. For now, though, I'll just take the starters I've made my decision on."

Professor Rowan - "That's the thing Michael. We're actually gonna be doing something different this time."

Michael - "What do you mean Professor Rowan?"

Professor Birch - "While the 7 of us would normally let you just pick only 1 of the 3 starters from each of our regions, due to what happened to you a week ago, we decided to let you just take all 21 starters instead."

Michael couldn't believe what he was hearing right now.

Michael - "You're kidding, right?"

Professor Sycamore - "We aren't Michael. According to your dad, Lady Arceus said that the beam that struck you was supposed to take away the powers of Reshiram and Xerneas. However, neither Cyrus or Ghetsis ever bothered to see what would happen if their machine's beam hit a human."

Michael then turned back towards his dad.

Michael - "What did Lady Arceus tell you exactly dad?"

John - "To be frank, Lady Arceus said that the beam had 'awakened' some kind of dormant power within your soul. In a sense, you were 'turned' into a Pokémon that has a human body."

Michael stood where he was, taking everything his dad just told him.

Michael - "If this is all true, then I just need to learn to control this power on my own for the time being until I can find a teacher to help me learn better control and usage of them."

Tracie - "Good plan Michael. But that's down the road. For now, let's say it together everyone!"

Everyone - "Happy birthday Michael!"

Michael - "Thank you everyone."

Soon the cake was cut and everyone enjoyed the party. During the party, Michael returned all 21 starters to their Poke Balls, then brought them back out again.

Michael - "Sorry about that everyone. Just needed to do something first."

Fennekin - "That's ok Michael."

Everyone else was shocked at hearing Fennekin talk, while Michael just chuckled.

Michael - "Well mom. Seems like your and Akira's invention is a complete success."

Tracie - "It would seem so."

Professor Kukui - "Invention?"

Akira - "You all see the devices on the Pokémon's heads?"

Professor Juniper - "Yes."

Tracie - "Well Akira and I have been working on it for a while now. But we finally created a communicator that also allows Pokémon to speak on the same level as us."

Professor Oak - "I must say that is quite the achievement after all."

Akira - "Sadly there's only enough that one trainer can have them. Since Michael's birthday was coming up, mom and I thought it was only fair that his Pokémon should be allowed to use them."

Professor Elm - "That sounds fair. Technology like this would be dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands."

Professor Birch - "Agreed. I'm guessing this also allows Michael to keep in contact with his Pokémon in case they get separated."

Tracie - "Exactly."

Rainbow - "Hey Michael. How about you show off that cool aura trick you can do with telling a Pokémon's gender?"

Michael - "Good idea Rainbow. Single file side-by-side guys."

All 21 starters stood next to each other.

Michael - "Kanto first."

Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle stepped forward. Michael then concentrated his aura and pointed at each of them.

Michael - "Male, male, and male."

The Kanto trio smirked.

Michael - "Johto."

Next was Chikorita, Cyndiquil, and Totodile,

Michael - "Female, female, and male."

All right again.

Michael - "Hoenn."

Third was Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip.

Michael - "Male, female, and male. Sinnoh."

Fourth was Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup.

Michael - "Male, male, and male. Unova."

Fifth was Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott.

Michael - "Female, male, and male. Kalos."

Sixth was Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie.

Michael - "Male, female, and male. And finally, Alola."

Seventh, and final, was Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio.

Michael - "Male, female, and female."

Professor Rowan - "How is it that you can use aura to tell their genders Michael?"

Michael - "By concentrating my aura to my eyes, I can see both an outer edge and inner body of aura on any Pokémon. The outer edge tells me their gender, while the inner body are their types. If the outer edge is pink, the Pokémon is female, blue is male, and gray is genderless."

Weiss - "Which ones are genderless?"

Michael - "So far it's just the entire Magnemite and Beldum lines. I guess you could throw in Lord Dexoys and Lord Genesect too, but I'll wait till I can see those two legendary Pokémon for myself."

Applejack - "And what about the other legendries?"

Michael - "It more depends on their physical traits. The legendary Birds are a good example where Articuno and Moltres are both females, while Zapdos is male."

Fluttershy - "What about another trio like the legendary Beasts?"

Michael - "Raikou and Entei and both males, while Suicune is female. As for anyone else, I truly need to focus my aura on them."

Tracie - "By the way Michael. Before I forget. You are fully healed, but I do want you to stay home for an extra day just to help you get your physical strength back after being stuck in bed for a week."

Michael - "Ok mom."

After that the rest of the party went off without a problem. Then Michael admitted he was feeling tired and was going to bed. Twilight, Ruby, and Weiss helped him upstairs, followed by his Pokémon. Michael opened his bedroom door to let his Pokémon in, then quickly closed the door behind them. He then turned to the female trio.

Michael - "Thanks for helping me up here you 3."

Ruby - "Will you be ok by yourself?"

Michael - "Sure. I'll just follow my mom's advice and take that extra day of rest here before I start my journey in Kanto."

Twilight - "You've always been a quick healer anyway."

Weiss - "You're not wrong about that Twilight."

Suddenly, all 3 girls leaned in and kissed Michael square on the mouth. It then took him a few seconds to process what just happened to him.

Michael - "Never knew you 3 felt so strongly about me."

Twilight/Ruby/Weiss - "We have for a while now."

Michael then surprised the girls by suddenly kissing them in return.

Michael - "Guess I can admit the same thing to you girls then."

All 3 girls felt their faces go bright red. Michael chuckled at their reactions.

Twilight/Ruby/Weiss - "It's not funny!"

Michael - "Not unless you 3 give off those cute reactions."

The girls felt their faces burn brighter.

Weiss - "Just get some rest ok."

Michael - "Yes 'mom'."

The 4 shared a quick laugh, then went on their own ways as Michael entered his bedroom, while the girls went home. Michael fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow, while his starters found different spots around the room to sleep as well. Michael woke up the next morning full of energy. He then noticed Fennekin and Popplio had slept in bed with him. He lightly shook them awake, followed by calling out to the others. After having breakfast, he worked on his daily chores to the best of his abilities while his Pokémon helped him out. Once the chores were done, he had his mom give him a once over to make sure he was back to full health. After a few minutes, Tracie said that Michael was indeed back to 100% health and could start his journey in the morning. This was quickly followed by a celebration dinner for the whole family. After that Michael went to bed to get ready for tomorrow. He then woke up the following morning early to make sure he had everything packed and in order. He and his family then got on the train, which had a station built across the road from their mansion, to the harbor. Michael then saw that everyone else was here to see him off. He also noticed that 10 certain girls were missing.

Michael - "Where are Ruby, Twilight, and the rest of the girls?"

Tracie - "They're unfortunately busy right now so they couldn't make it."

Michael - "Ok then."

Michael knew his mom was lying but said nothing of it. He then turned towards everyone.

Michael - "Well everyone. This will be the last time I see you all till the Indigo League starts."

Summer - "You got this Michael!"

Raven - "Yeah! Show the world just how amazing you truly are!"

Michael - "Yes ma'am! And I'll be sure to tell uncle Red, aunt Delia, and Ash that you all said hi."

Michael then gets on the ship. He waves bye to everyone as it sails away from port. He then looks out along the sea.

Michael - "Look out Kanto! Here comes Michael!"

While on the cruise ship, Michael brings out his Pokémon as they all relax, enjoying the trip to Kanto. After a few hours, Michael and his Pokémon finally arrive in the port that connects to Pallet Town. Fennekin and Popplio (With Snivy's help) are on his shoulders. Mudkip, Piplup, and Froakie are also on the ground by his feet.

Fennekin - "So what's first Michael?"

Michael - "Well first I need to see Professor Oak at his lab so I can register for the Indigo League, then go see how uncle Red and his family are doing."

Popplio - "I thought all Pokémon Trainers had to register at a Pokémon Center to enter that region's Pokémon League?"

Michael - "They still do. But, besides Alola, the leagues gave their respective Pokémon Professors the power to do the same, especially for new trainers like me."

Mudkip - "That makes sense. This way more Trainers have a chance to enter the league and make it more challenging to see who can win it all."

Piplup - "Bring on the challenge then! We'll beat anyone that goes against us!"

Froakie - "Easy Piplup. Being confident is one thing, but too much will lead to our own downfall."

Piplup – "I know. Sorry. I'm just so eager to be part of all the fun battles we're gonna have."

Mudkip - "So is everyone else. But it's entirely up to Michael to decide when and where we battle, if at all."

Michael - "Thanks for the vote of confidence Mudkip. And Froakie's right Piplup. You underestimate your opponents at all, and that's just asking for trouble during a battle."

?/?/? - "Michael!"

Michael turned towards the sound of the voice. he then saw 3 familiar females running towards him.

Michael - "Ruby! Weiss! Rarity! What are you girls doing here?"

Rarity - "Out promise to you Michael. That we'd join you on your journey and learn to become Gym Leaders for the League that we'd create."

Michael then remembered the promise the eleven of them made 3 years ago.

-3 Years Ago-

A 7-year-old Michael was standing on the beach in Sunnyburg, looking out to the sea as Twilight, Ruby, and the rest of the girls were standing on each side of him.

Michael - "Let's make a promise here and now girls."

Twilight - "What kind of promise Michael?"

Michael - "When all eleven of us are fully fledged Pokémon Trainers, let's start up our own Pokémon League."

Ruby - "That's a big promise to make. Even more so to keep."

Michael - "I know it is. But I know we can do it if we all work hard and work together to achieve."

Weiss - "What about our League's Elite Four?"

Michael - "I'll talk with my sisters about it."

Pinkie - "Artoria and Azura are pretty strong in their own right. So they alone should be a part of the Elite Four."

Michael - "My thoughts exactly."

-Flashback Ends-

Michael - "I do remember our promise fondly."

Ruby - "What sucks is that Artoria and Azura may not be around to see it happen though."

Weiss - "I don't think so Ruby. I most definitely say that those 2 will return to us long before our League dream for Pokémon Island gains any ground to be made a thing."

Rarity - "I second that statement Weiss."

Weiss - "Thank you Rarity."

Rarity - "Not at all."

Ruby - "Anyway. So what are you gonna do first Michael?"

Michael - "As I just told these five, I'm gonna go see Professor Oak to get registered for the Indigo League. Then stop by uncle Red's house to see how he's doing."

Rarity - "Then what are we just standing around for? Let's get moving!"

Michael/Ruby/Weiss - "Right!"

The group of four made their way out of the harbor and towards Pallet Town.

Weiss - "So what's one Pokémon you're hoping to catch here in Kanto Michael?"

Michael - "Vulpix. I've always had a soft spot for them and their evolved form Ninetales."

Rarity - "Didn't you also say that you were gonna make an all-female team starting with Ninetales too?"

Michael - "I did. I can't wait to get started on it too. Along with a bunch of other team ideas too involving the starters."

Ruby - "We're also excited to see what combo move ideas you come up with as well."

Michael - "That won't start till everyone's pretty much fully evolved, along with their move sets being fully fleshed out as well."

Fennekin - "Think you girls can give the 5 of us an idea of how our trainer here thinks when it comes to battling?"

Weiss - "Well Michael's always about giving you guys some very diverse move sets to cover your type weaknesses."

Rarity - "As well as giving you a move for each of your own types, especially if you're a dual-typed Pokémon."

Ruby - "And he'll never have you guys use status moves, or any moves with a lot of drawbacks."

Mudkip - "Wow. Anything else you want to add Michael?"

Michael - "There are 5 categories that your move sets will fall into depending on what the difference between your attack stats is. They are: Purely Physical, Mostly Physical, Mixed, Mostly Special, and Purely Special. Mixed attackers are those where the difference between Atk. and Sp. Atk. is 10 or less. Their move sets will be 2 each of Physical and Special Moves. Those in the Mostly category will have a stat difference of 11 to 20, learning 3 moves of the higher stat and 1 move of the other. Finally, there's the Purely category. The stat difference will be at least 21, meaning that you will learn 4 moves of the higher stat. However, there are times I may give you a move set of a different category. If that does happen, then just know that I have faith that you guys can get the job done regardless."

(Author's Note: This is my thought process for when I'm making my Pokémon's move set in the games.)

Piplup - "Are there any exceptions to these rules?"

Michael - "There are 3 moves that I'll allow to be used despite my rules. First is the Status move King's Shield, learned only by Aegislash of Kalos. Since this move is the only way for him to achieve his Shield Form through his Stance Change ability, I'll allow him to have a 3 attack move set. The other 2 moves are Solar Beam and Thunder."

Froakie - "I see why. Compared to the other moves of the same power, Hydro Pump, Fire Blast, and Blizzard, they can be used more often."

Michael - "That's exactly right Froakie."

Popplio - "It is?"

Michael - "Yes Popplio. All moves you guys can learn can be used a certain number of times. Moves like Hydro Pump, Fire Blast, Blizzard, Hyper Beam, and Giga Impact can be used only 5 times due to how strong they are. But moves like that will always have major drawbacks, so I make sure to stay away from them when planning your move sets out. Therefore, all moves you guys WILL learn can be used at least 10 times. And this includes Solar Beam and Thunder."

Fennekin - "That makes sense. Makes it easier for us to battle without putting us in a tight spot. Why don't you like status moves by the way?"

Michael - "Waste of a turn that you could've spent attacking your opponent."

Mudkip - "That's fair."

Michael and the girls then came to a clearing by the river.

Michael - "Let's stop here and take a break for lunch."

Weiss - "Good idea Michael. My feet could use a break."

As they were unpacking to eat lunch, Michael noticed something floating in the river.

Michael - "What's that?"

Ruby - "What is it Michael?"

Michael kept his backpack on in case he had to hurry for some reason. As he got closer to the river, he saw what he had spotted in the river.

Michael - "Is that a Pokémon?"

Michael picked up the body, seeing that it was in fact a Pokémon.

Weiss - "Michael?"

Michael felt the Pokémon's forehead, and it was very hot.

Michael - "Pallet Town girls! Quickly!"

Michael rushed off towards Pallet Town, the girls returning their backpacks and rushing after him.

Ruby - "What's wrong Michael?"

Michael - "There was a female Pokémon floating in the river! And she's got a very high fever! Listen! I need you 3 to go to my uncle Red's place and explain to him what's going on!"

Weiss - "What do you want us to tell him?"

Michael - "Tell him I found a Riolu floating in the river, and that she's got a very high fever. I'll be over at Professor Oak's lab getting her checked on."

Rarity - "OK Michael. We'll see you in a bit."

The girls rushed off, heading towards Red's house to explain what was happening to him. Meanwhile, Michael quickly made his way towards Professor Oak's lab.

Michael - "Rowlet!"

Rowlet quickly came out of his Poké Ball and flew next to Michael.

Rowlet - "What do you need Michael?"

Michael - "Can you head towards Professor Oak's lab and inform either him or one of his assistants that I'm coming over there with a very ill Pokémon that needs instant medical care?"

Rowlet - "Sure thing!"

Rowlet quickly flew off to deliver the urgent news. After a few minutes, Michael saw that the gates to the lab were open, with an assistant waving to him.

Assistant - "Over here Michael! Your Rowlet delivered your message. We got Nurse Joy over here quickly to help too just in case."

Michael - "Good idea."

Michael quickly made his way into the lab, then handed the mysterious Pokémon over to Nurse Joy.

Nurse Joy - "Don't worry Michael. Professor Oak and I will make sure she's well taken care of."

Michael - "Thank you Nurse Joy."

Michael watched as Nurse Joy placed the Pokémon on a gurney, then wheeled it into another room so she could do her job as a Pokémon Nurse.

Michael - "Please be ok..."

5 minutes later Michael's uncle Red showed up alongside Rarity, Ruby, and Weiss.

Red - "Michael."

Michael - "Uncle Red."

Uncle and nephew embraced each other for a few moments, then broke apart.

Red - "The girls showed up and told me that you found a Pokémon that was floating in the river and that it had a high fever. So, you decided to bring it to Professor Oak to have her looked at?"

Michael – "Yes. You see..."

Michael quickly explained everything to his uncle, from when he spotted the mysterious Pokémon up to right now.

Red - "I see then. What did this mysterious Pokémon look like?"

Michael - "That's the thing. It looks like a female Riolu, but at the same time is doesn't as well."

Weiss - "What do you mean by that Michael?"

Michael - "You guys will just have to see for yourselves."

Ruby - "If you say so then."

Then Nurse Joy poked her head out of the door. Michael walked over to her.

Michael - "How's our little patient doing so far?"

Nurse Joy - "Just fine. Her fever broke very easily. Also, she's been using her aura to tell us that she wants to see you, Michael."

Michael pointed at himself.

Michael - "Me? Ok then."

Michael followed Nurse Joy into the room, quickly followed by Ruby, Weiss, Rarity, and Red. The five of them then looked towards the table. Their sitting on it was the Pokémon that Michael saved.

Red - "Well nephew. Guess I owe you an apology after all."

Michael - "Apology accepted uncle."

Like Michael said, the Pokémon he saved looked like a Riolu, if Riolu's had pink fur, a more dragon-like tail, small dragon wings, stubs for what was believed to be horns on her head and pointed appendages for claws at the end of her paws. Michael slowly walked over to her.

? - "I'm guessing you must be Michael?"

Michael - "I am."

? - "Then thanks for saving me."

Michael - "You're welcome. May I ask for your name then?"

? - "My name? You can call me Riagon."
