With the low flicker of the candle flame, the room looks so dark and shadowy, almost mysterious and almost ominous. Perhaps not the perfect place for a pillow fight, and perhaps not the most serious activity for a couple to do. Especially when there's early meetings in the morning, and a ball to prepare for in a week or two.
It may be early into their marriage, but that doesn't mean life really slowed down. There's too much to do as the next Head of the Seiran Estate, too much planning and prep work, and too much busyness for a bit of a break.
So, they're taking one.
Hisame looks perfectly relaxed, book in hand, preparing as if for a long, late night of reading, and Kiki knows better, knows that they are both adults, married adults, but maybe there's an allowance for overworked adults needing a bit of a break.
And Hisame looks perfectly defenseless anyway, though this could be a hint of her tiredness showing, as she snags a pillow off the head of the bed, and eyes her husband.
"What are you doing?" He doesn't look up, but Kiki knows when she's been called out.
"Nothing?" She probably should be honest, but she's also pretty sure that he knows what's coming next.
"Nothing involves stealing one of our pillows?" He asks, perfectly at peace, and then finally looks at her, "What are you about to do, sleep on the floor? Am I that poor of a bedmate?"
"No." Kiki feels a little bit like Obi perhaps even Zen, back when they had a pillow fight not too terribly long ago.
"Then you're not upset with me?" Hisame's lips are pulling up at one corner; he's delaying her attempts at starting a pillow fight and is amused by this all.
"Maybe." She goes for deadpan, but the way, Hisame raises one eyebrow makes it feel like it came out a bit too colored in tone.
And either way, if she doesn't start now, perhaps it won't start. And so, she bats it against his wrists, with just enough force to knock his book from his hands and onto the floor. That's a sure fire sign to initiate this anyway.
"Really?" But he reaches for a pillow, and Kiki prepares herself like they're about to have a duel, sword against sword, and not a pillow fight where the victor is a little less important.
And when the pillow smacks her in the stomach with Hisame as the culprit, she knows it's now begun and grabs a second pillow. Perhaps she'll need a spare.
Their bedroom's a mess, and Kiki's laughing as she collapses next to her husband. Perhaps this is not what heirs to heads of estates should be doing, but honestly, Kiki's pretty sure she needed that.
And besides she hasn't had this much fun in forever!
"I didn't realize you weren't as good of a fighter with a pillow as you are with a sword." And Hisame's close enough that she can hear his teasing remark right at her ear.
She rolls over onto her side, "I took pity on you, with your poor fighting skills." Kiki shrugged.
"So, you say." Hisame was smirking, though she could hear the laughter in his voice clear as day, "But that last hit definitely was a good one."
"So you say." Kiki still feels like laughing, and when Hisame leans closer and steals a kiss, she knows that her teasing remark bounced off of him.
"Was that your prize?" Kiki asked her husband.
"Maybe." Hisame joked, "But perhaps it was yours. If you really did win, like you say you did."
"Didn't know we were rewarding prizes." Kiki leaned closer, just to kiss her husband, just being close to him like this is absolutely wonderful and leaves a warmth like a small fire in her chest. It's beautiful to just be this close to him, to be able to goof off after a long day, and end up snuggling right back up to each other after too.
"What is a duel without a reward?"
"There were no swords involved." Kiki informed him.
"A pillow and a sword can both be weapons though." Hisame pointed out, and Kiki shook her head at her husband, sometimes he's truthfully just a little silly, especially when it's just the two of them together and his walls come down.
