I know Capcom would never be so brave, but I really wish we could have seen some interaction between these two at the end of SoJ. As always, I don't own any rights to Ace Attorney. Enjoy!

Apollo sighed as he lay back on the mattress, his eyes staring blankly up at the ceiling above him. His mind raced with everything that had happened in the past few days. Was he really ready to start his own law firm? Could he leave them all behind after everything they had done for him? Maybe it was time to move on. Mr Wright seemed to think he was ready, at least. But Apollo knew that none of that mattered if he himself didn't believe it. For the first time in a long time, he had finally found somewhere that he could call home and a group of people that he could call a family. He just wasn't sure if he was ready to leave it all- Mr Wright, Athena, The Wright Anything Agency... Trucy- behind him. He found himself reaching into his pocket for his phone. He dialled a number he was surprised he knew by heart and his finger hovered over the call button for a brief moment before pressing down. He put the phone to his ear and listened to it ring, until finally someone picked up.

"Herr Forehead?" Klavier's voice sounded down the phone and, for a moment, Apollo wasn't sure what to say.

"Klavier," Apollo sighed in relief. But, whether he or Klavier was more shocked at hearing the prosecutor's first name come from his lips, he wasn't sure.

"Is everything okay?" Klavier eventually managed to say, even if it was just to break the silence.

"Not really, no," Apollo said truthfully, slowly sitting up.

"Do you want to tell me what's wrong?" Klavier asked softly; his gentle tone of voice was something Apollo wasn't quite used to yet, but something about it made him feel safe and warm. So, Apollo told him everything that had happened. And, when he was done, his chest felt ever so slightly lighter than before.

"Hmm..." Klavier mused over the phone, taking in everything Apollo had just told him. He still wasn't quite sure why Apollo had called him in the first place, but he wanted to help in any way he could. Despite everything that stood between them, he still considered him to be a good friend.

"This is a stupid thing to panic about, isn't it?" Apollo muttered, shaking his head.

"Of course not! If the past few years have taught me anything, it's that going out on your own for the first time is scary," Klavier reassured him.

"So do you think I should go for it?" Apollo asked, his voice wavering slightly.

"As cheesy as this may sound, I think you should follow your heart," Klavier said softly.

"Okay, that really was cheesy," Apollo laughed and Klavier smiled, pleased he had been able to at least cheer Apollo up a little.

"I know, but it's true. If this is really what you want to do, don't let anything stop you,"

"Thank you, Klavier. Not just for this, but for everything," Apollo said quietly and Klavier's smile only got wider.

"Hey, it's what friends are for, right?" Klavier felt the slightest pull in his chest as he said those words, but he quickly pushed the feeling aside; now was not the time for such things.

"It's going to be weird not seeing you around anymore," Apollo laughed, thinking back on all the times they had managed to quite literally bump into each other around the courthouse and the cases they had shared together.

"Yeah, the courtroom will feel so much bigger without your huge forehead taking up all that space!" Klavier joked and, after a slight pause, both of them collapsed into laughter.

"I mean it, though, I really will miss you," Apollo sighed once their laughter subsided, closing his eyes and running a hand through his hair.

"I will miss you too, Apollo," Klavier replied quietly, nervously biting at his lip as he spoke.

"I'll come visit, I promise," Apollo said with a slight smile, and he meant it.

"I will hold you to that," Klavier huffed a quiet laugh, a smile returning to his lips, "good luck, Apollo. With everything,"

"Thank you, you too," Apollo replied, his heart skipping a beat although he wasn't entirely sure why.

"I'll see you soon. Until then... goodbye," Klavier almost whispered.

"Goodbye, Klavier," Apollo sighed. He paused for a moment, then eventually hung up the phone. Taking a deep breath and leaning back, he lay in the silence for a while. He was still worried and there was a lot that needed to be done. But, in his heart, he knew he was making the right choice.
