This is about a young girl named Marina. Until she was seven years old, she had a great life. She lived faithfully with her mother and father in a gorgeous house in Illinois. It was a great life, they had each other with their hopes and dreams and desires.
Then one day, a terrible thing happened on the ride home from a carnival. A drunk driver crashed into them and killed Marina's mother and father. Now this as you can well imagine was a rather horrible experience from two gentle parents.
Their troubles if they have any at all were over in a speeding bullet. At least it was quick, they were dead and gone in forty seconds flat. For Marina, however her troubles were just the start.
She was sent away to live with her father's step sister who is her step aunt. Her name is Henna and she's a really horrible person. Right from the beginning, she started to beat up Marina for almost no good reason at all.
She made her wear rags and do all of the chores in the house. She even had to sleep in the basement. As time went on, Marina became sadder and more lonely than ever before.
After Marina lived with her step aunt for two years, there came a time when she has had enough abuse.
