With You I Fall so Fast
AN: Hi all! This is my first proper attempt at a QuiObi one-shot. I love this ship, but I've never published any fics with it in until now! The writing style might seem a bit odd at first because of this, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. Constructive criticism allowed as usual but must be phrased politely. Thank you! Enjoy.
DISCLAIMER: Prompt was 'Your prompt: Person A and Person B watching a horror movie. Person A can't sleep that night and Person B comforts them in a cuddle' from , by eliasz, all credit for the prompt belongs to them. Title is from the Ashlee Simspon song, "Pieces of Me", I do not own it. I don't own Star Wars or the characters I use in this fic (or any of the pre-existing characters in any of my fics, for that matter). WARNING: Slash M/M (obviously lol), Qui-Gon Jinn/Obi-Wan Kenobi pairing.
Qui-Gon woke up to see that the room was almost pitch black from the Coruscant night sky – the only light was from the streetlamps on the lane outside of the house he shared with his… 'roommate', Obi-Wan Kenobi. The two had had a… complicated relationship with one another; when Qui-Gon had first moved into the house for college, he'd slowly gotten to know Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the two had gradually become good friends. It was much later that Qui-Gon finally began to realise he was starting to fall for his housemate, even though he was a little older than Kenobi. It was just his luck, however, that Obi-Wan had secretly returned his feelings – it had taken a long time for Obi-Wan to confess this to his friend, though. But it wasn't as long as Qui-Gon had; no, he'd planned to keep the way he felt about Obi to himself forever, in all honesty. He'd been delighted and extremely surprised when he'd found out the feelings were mutual. There were moments when he still didn't know if it had all been a dream or not. Alas, it hadn't been, as fast forward to the present day, and the pair of roommates were now both lying in the very same, large double bed.
'Why have I woken up?' Qui-Gon thought as he gazed into the darkness of the room. He wasn't hungry or thirsty or anything – and that's when he felt the person next to him, quivering like a leaf. He turned his head to his right to see Obi-Wan, shaking to no end, causing the whole bed to vibrate.
"Obi?" Qui-Gon murmured. When he didn't reply, the older man placed a soft hand on his shoulder gently. "Obi-Wan?" he said again.
"Uh!" Obi-Wan yelped, leaping up in fright at the other man's contact. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Qui-Gon.
"Oh my! Obi-Wan, what's up?" Qui questioned, panicking as to why the man was so disturbed.
Obi-Wan sighed. "Oh, I'm sorry Qui-Gon… I just.. I can't sleep…" Obi confided.
"I think it's a bit more than that, Obi-Wan. Why are you shaking?" Qui wondered, suspicious that his boyfriend hadn't given him the full answer.
"Nothing! I'm just… cold..." the other man insisted.
Qui-Gon narrowed his eyes; he suspected he knew what was really going on here. "Oh, Obi-Wan, are you scared?" he asked.
"Scared? Of what?" Obi scoffed.
"That horror movie we watched earlier tonight," Qui replied. They'd watched some ever-so-cliche flick about a doll that came to life at 3.a.m and murdered people because it felt like it.
"No! Why would I be scared about that?!" Obi denied.
"You had your head behind a cushion for most of the film," Qui chuckled.
"That was… that was just because I didn't like the gore factor! I don't think films should have to be so violent for them still to be good these days, you know?" Obi said.
"If you say so," Qui said. "You can trust me, Obi-Wan – it's not as if I'm going to tell anyone about how you were frightened by some film," he promised.
Obi-Wan exhaled. "Fine, Qui. Yes. Yes. I mean that doll was f*cking terrifying! You're telling me you didn't find it creepy?" the man shuddered.
Qui shook his head. "Stuff like that isn't really the sort of thing that scares me, Obi-Wan. I'm more frightened by serious situations, ones that are life or death in reality."
Obi cocked his head at Qui with a slight smile on his face. "You don't show it," he said.
"That's because I try to look calm on the outside when stuff like that happens, but believe me, I am anxious as anything when it does," Qui told him.
"Well, you're always great at appearing level-headed, Qui-Gon Jinn. Not like me," Obi-Wan responded.
"Don't worry, Obi-Wan. That doll isn't coming – and even if it does, I'm here. I won't let it get within an inch of you," Qui assured, wrapping his arms around the other man tightly. Obi-Wan grinned – Qui-Gon was so warm, it was really comforting to snuggle up with him.
"Thank you, Qui-Gon. I love you…" the ginger man whispered.
"I love you too, Obi-Wan. Now, get some sleep…" Qui wished, and kissed his partner on the forehead. Within seconds, he could hear Obi-Wan quietly snoring. Qui smiled to himself, and closed his own eyes.
