Time for the next chapter to begin. Kara is now reunited with the Doctor with a new face. Let's see how the pair act now that they're together again.
CHAPTER 9-
DEO:
"The Daxamites!" The Doctor walked out the cell block where the telepath was headed towards the team. "The Daxamites hired our telepath to control Mon-El to kill Kara. The Daxamites went after Kara by using Mon-El; a normal person would think you two were a couple." The Doctor explained.
"We playfully flirted but nothing more." Kara explained which surprised the Time Lord. "It's not much different from you flirt with the TARDIS. Or when you almost married Cleopatra." Kara pointed out which made The Doctor shut up before he could speak.
"Anyway, Queen Rhea was the one that placed the bounty." The Doctor spoke as he looked up at Mon-El. "I might have an idea but I need two things: Kara and Mon-El." The Doctor told them which got them all puzzled.
"The President doesn't want us to fight them; it could start an intergalactic war." J'onn told him but The Doctor shook his head then placed his hands on J'onn's shoulders.
"Trust me, I know what I'm doing." The Doctor told the Director and J'onn nodded. "Right then, let's get going." The Doctor spoke as the trio ran into the TARDIS.
Inside the TARDIS:
While The Doctor was preparing the TARDIS, Kara and Mon-El looked around and while Mon-El was surprised, Kara was slowly looking at the new design.
"What happened to the last console?" Kara asked as she was curious. The Doctor chuckled as he flipped two small switches and pulled a coil out then pushed it back into place.
"When I regenerated, the energy damaged the TARDIS then over time, she self repaired and created this. What do you think?" The Doctor asked as Kara sat in a chair that was near the stairs.
"I like it; very odd. Suits your style." Kara complimented and The Doctor chuckled. "What's the plan?" Kara asked and The Doctor smiled.
"Mon-El here will call the ship and ask to meet her mother," The Doctor started, which got Mon-El's attention. "But first, we need a location to meet." The Doctor then used the giant screen to look at locations to meet.
"The Fortress!" Kara shouted then she used the typewriter to type in the co-ordinates. "Is this where you type the location?" Kara asked and The Doctor nodded with a huge smile.
"Together?" The Doctor asked as he placed his hand on the accelerator lever, then Kara placed her hand on top as they both pulled it down; powering up the TARDIS engines and causing the Police Box to dematerialise.
Fortress of Solitude:
In the Fortress, Mon-El stood in front with Supergirl while The Doctor stood near the TARDIS. After a while, a beam of white light then Rhea stood in front of them.
"Krypton on Earth? And I thought the last location was vile." Rhea moaned in disgust which angered Kara.
"We know it was you, Mother." Mon-El spoke which confused Rhea. "We know it was you that put a bounty on Kara." Mon-El added which caught Rhea by surprise.
"I know how much you love your son, your Majesty," The Doctor spoke as he took a few steps forward. "But being here on Earth makes Mon-El happy. He has friends, a family, that love him for who he is." The Doctor spoke and it made Mon-El smile.
"Call off the bounty and maybe we can still have a relationship." Mon-El told his mother but she didn't look happy.
"I know our worlds have had their differences," Kara spoke as she stepped forward and stood in front of Mon-El. "But it's the more reason why we need to fight to make peace. When Mon-El and I first met, we didn't understand each other but over time, we found a connection through our kindness." Kara explained as she stood next to Mon-El.
"You see now, your Majesty?" The Doctor asked as he walked towards her. "If you truly love your son, then try to understand that letting him stay here is the right thing to do." The Doctor suggested as Supergirl stepped forward. She was about to speak when Rhea slashed Kara's face with a sharp green object.
"Kryptonite? Where did you get it?" Kara asked the queen as she felt weak. The Doctor and Mon-El knelt beside Kara while Rhea looked down on them.
"Our planet is littered with the corpse of yours." Rhea told the Kryptonian as she was about to strike again. Mon-El held his arm up to block the attack but Rhea kicked him back then she kicked The Doctor back. Supergirl got back up to fight but Rhea quickly stabbed her in the left leg with her Kryptonite blade. "I crossed an ocean of stars looking for my son. I'm not going to let you get in my way now. Your family awaits for you." Rhea was about to finish off Kara when Mon-El bolted in front to stop his Mother.
"I'll go with you!" Mon-El shouted as he held back his Mother from stabbing Kara. "Whatever you want. I'll go back to Daxam, I'll be your prince. Just stop hurting Kara and my friends." Mon-El told his Mother which made Rhea slowly put her blades away.
"I have your word? No tricks? No resistance?" Rhea asked and she watched Mon-El nod.
"You have my word!" Mon-El told her then he hugged Kara before going with Rhea. Kara then ran over to The Doctor, who was still unconscious.
"DOCTOR?" Kara screamed as she hopped over to him as she was still in pain. She knelt down beside him then hugged him. The Doctor slowly started to wake up which made Kara feel relieved. "I'm glad you're okay." Kara smiled as tears rolled down her face. The Doctor smiled back then he looked at his hands holding Kara's, Kara looked down in time to see The Doctor's hands glowing yellow; it was his regeneration energy. "What are you doing?" Kara asked as she tried to let go but The Doctor wouldn't.
"Look in the TARDIS window. Then look at your leg." The Doctor suggested as he let go of Kara. Kara stood up and looked in the TARDIS window; the slash on her face was gone! Kara then looked at her leg where Rhea had stabbed her, that wound had also healed.
"You used your regeneration energy to heal me?" Kara asked and The Doctor nodded. Kara was walking over to him then she punched him in the shoulder
"Now that you're healed, we've got work to do." The Doctor told her which confused Kara. "You care about Mon-El, so we'll save him." The Doctor told her and it made Kara smile as they ran into the TARDIS.
Daxamite ship:
In the cellblock, Mon-El was sitting alone while looking at the floor. When he looked up to see the guards, a blue Police Box was now in front of him. The front doors bursted open with The Doctor and Supergirl.
"Remember the plan?" The Doctor asked and Supergirl nodded. "Right! Let Operation: Trick And Escape start!" The Doctor smiled as Kara ran towards the bridge while The Doctor took out his Sonic Screwdriver and began work.
"How did you get in here without making a sound?" Mon-El asked as The Doctor worked.
"By putting the TARDIS into silent and stealth," The Doctor explained. "We're friends, aren't we? We never leave a friend behind." The Doctor told him which made Mon-El smile.
On the bridge, Rhea and Supergirl were fighting and just as Rhea was about to stab Supergirl with her Kryptonite beam, it didn't hurt.
"They don't work on me." Supergirl spoke as her eyes glowed red, transforming into the Martian Manhunter. Suddenly, a blue portal appeared and out came Supergirl who knocked out a guard. Rhea and Lar Gand were fighting hard until a gust of wind pushed back as a blue Police Box materialised behind them then out stepped Mon-El and The Doctor.
"Word of advice; if you don't want me messing with your consoles, don't use tech that I can hack into in under 45 seconds." The Doctor advised with a smile then he helped Kara onto her feet. "GERONIMO!"The Doctor shouted as he activated the Sonic Screwdriver, turning off the anti-gravity; causing everyone to float. The Doctor then grabbed the Kryptonite daggers and threw them into the TARDIS. "And, back on." The Doctor smiled as he activated the Sonic again, putting the gravity back on as the TARDIS doors closed.
"STOP!" Lar Gand shouted to the guards. "He's made his decision!" He shouted as he looked at Mon-El. The Doctor snapped his fingers and the doors opened, the team started to walk inside until Mon-El stopped.
"I'm glad you're both alive." Mon-El spoke as he looked at his parents. "But this is the last time we'll ever see each other." Mon-El told them which made Rhea shocked. "Doctor, take us home." Mon-El requested and The Doctor nodded then they walked inside. Rhea and Lar Gand watched as the Police Box slowly faded as the TARDIS echoed through the ship.
Kara's loft:
"Thank you again, Doctor. I owe you one." Mon-El thanked as he and The Doctor shook hands.
"It's no problem, anything for a mate." The Doctor smiled and Mon-El chuckled. The Doctor then checked his watch and his eyes widened. "Blast! I gotta go! Some friends have just finished their honeymoon and they asked me to pick them up; they want to go on a few trips and see everything and anything." The Doctor exclaimed then he hugged Kara.
"Don't be a stranger, Doctor." Kara told him as the two locked eyes. "Once you come back; date, you and me." Kara told him and The Doctor chuckled.
"It would be my honour." The Doctor smiled then he looked at the pair. "Take care of each other and see you soon!" The Doctor shouted as he walked into the TARDIS and they watched as the Police Box faded away.
Next day:
Supergirl was flying around the city whilst looking around: she had just the DEO after finding out there were no crimes at all. Supergirl then paused when she heard a familiar sound, she blasted towards her loft. As Supergirl got close, she saw a blue Police Box near an alley and she knew what that meant.
"He's back!" Kara exclaimed as she flew into the loft and saw The Doctor; he was cooking! "The legendary Time Lord cooking like a normal person? That's amazing!" Kara exclaimed which made The Doctor smile.
"Hey Kara. Don't mind me; I thought I might do some baking. I'm currently baking…!" The Doctor opened the oven and pulled out a cake. "A cake! When you travel alone, you can basically eat whatever and no one can tell you what to do." The Doctor explained and Kara nodded.
"Well, I've been feeling bored: no crime and being unemployed is officially boring too." Kara explained as she walked out of the bedroom wearing dark blue jeans, a grey long sleeve top and black shoes. Just before Kara could say more, they heard a knock on the door. Kara walked over to the door while The Doctor got started on decorating his cake.
"Hey Lena!" Kara exclaimed and Lena Luthor smiled back. "What brings you to the rent-controlled side of town?" Kara asked with a smile as she allowed Lena to walk in.
"Are you grief-baking?" Lena asked, then she watched The Doctor stand up, holding a bowl of blue icing.
"No, that's my… boyfriend." Kara answered and The Doctor waved as he put the bowl on the table. "Lena Luthor, meet John Smith. John, this is Lena Luthor." Lena held her hand out as The Doctor cleaned his hand then shook her hand.
"Wonderful to meet you, Ms Luthor." The Doctor smiled. "If you like, I can leave so you two can talk." The Doctor offered and Lena shook her head.
"It's fine. I just wanted to ask Kara for some help." Lena spoke which got Kara's attention as they sat on the couch while The Doctor continued to work on the cake. "Today, there is this press conference for Spheerial Industries' new unveiling. Whatever they announce is gonna be the next big thing that everyone wants." Lena explained as she looked at Kara.
"Are they your competition?" The Doctor asked which surprised Kara and Lena. "Sorry. Anything about tech gets my curiosity." The Doctor explained but he could see there was something else.
"Their CEO, Jack Spheer, and I, we…" Lena paused as she felt embarrassed. "We used to be close. Just before I moved to National City." Lena told them which surprised Kara.
"Oh, I see. So, this… This is a recent closeness." Kara stuttered and Lena nodded. "How long were you two together?" Kara asked and Lena looked at the floor.
"Romantically, two years." Lena answered with a smile on her face. "But we had a start-up together for five. Worked out of a garage, trying to find a cure for cancer." Lena chuckled as she remembered the old times. "He's given me a personal invite to this press conference." Lena told her friend and Kara looked at her.
"Are you gonna go?" Kara asked her friend and Lena looked at her.
"Jack's my Kryptonite," Lena spoke and Kara could see how Lena was unsure. "But it's just gonna bring up a lot of painful things, and I'm not sure I can relieve it." Lena then looked up at Kara.
"But if your good friend Kara came with you… and had your back…" Kara started as she walked over to the coat stand and picked up her jacket and handbag. "It won't be so hard to face him." Kara suggested and it made Lena smile.
"Thank you." Lena thanked as she walked over to her friend and opened the door. "It was nice to meet you, Mister Smith." Lena smiled and waved. The Doctor waved back with one hand as he decorated the cake with his other hand. "So Kara, what's your Kryptonite?" Lena asked as Kara closed the door. As the door closed, The Doctor's head shot up and realised something.
"I'm Supergirl's boyfriend!" The Doctor exclaimed as he just realised what he agreed to.
Spheerial Industries:
After the launch, Kara and Lena walked out whilst talking about the event when they saw The Doctor standing by the railings.
"How did you get in here?" Lena asked with a curious smile. The Doctor tapped the side of his nose twice and smiled.
"We all have secrets, Ms Luthor. If I gave all mine away, how could I impress Kara?" The Doctor asked with a smile which made Kara blush.
"Please, call me Lena." Lena requested and the pair shook hands. The trio were then later joined by a fourth person.
"Lena," Lena looked behind her to see Jack Spheer walking over to her. "I'm so glad you came." Jack smiled then the pair hugged while The Doctor stepped back.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world." Lena smiled as the pair stepped back. "This is Kara Danvers; she is one of the best reporters in National City." Lena introduced them as Kara and Jack shook hands.
"Stop." Kara laughed then she looked at Lena and realised something. "I should go. I have to tell the readers about the next medical breakthrough." Kara explained with a smile then she headed down the stairs until she was approached by a man in beige trousers, a dark blue jumper and brown shoes. "Do I know you?" Kara asked as she was unsure.
"Kara Danvers, I have some information for you; about Jack Spheer." The man told her which made Kara curious. "Meet me in the parking lot at Fourth and Main tonight. You're the only reporter I can trust." The man spoke then walked off without leaving his name which both worried and concerned Kara.
"Everything okay?" Kara looked behind her to see The Doctor. "Who was that?" He asked with worry in his voice.
"Doctor, I was wondering if you could help me later." Kara asked and The Doctor nodded.
Fourth and Main:
The TARDIS materialised silently near a deserted building. Kara walked out wearing a beige coat while The Doctor stayed inside.
"Be careful, alright?" The Doctor and Kara nodded with a smile. "If anything happens, tell me." The Doctor told her and Kara nodded then she started walking towards a parked car. Meanwhile, The Doctor closed the TARDIS door and ran up to the console to start doing research.
In the car, Kara had just got to speak with the mystery man that asked her to meet; she wanted to know what he knew about Jack Spheer.
"Why me? All the reporters in National City, why me?" Kara asked as she was curious.
"You warned the aliens about Cadmus. You wanna help people," He explained, which gave Kara a bit of relief. "My name is Joe Watkins. I was a lab technician at Spheerical but I was fired last month." Joe explained as Kara got a recording device.
"Does this have something to do with the Biomax nanobots?" Kara asked as she was curious.
"I was archiving files on the mainframe computer," Joe started to explain. "I noticed that the results from the human trials hadn't been entered. I went to the public records, they seem fine, the operative word "seem." But why isn't there anything in our own achieves?" Joe asked, which also got Kara's curiosity. "I think the human test trials were faked. Jack shouldn't be launching Biomax right now, it's not ready. These nanobots are dangerous." Just as Joe finished speaking, the car blew up as Kara jumped out.
Over by the TARDIS, The Doctor ran over to see Kara's clothes on fire but she was still alive. And while he was okay with that, they were both devastated that someone had just died.
Spheerical Industries:
After a lot of research and thinking, The TARDIS appeared in a corridor and the doors opened, out stepping Kara and The Doctor. They walked directly towards a door but it was locked with a security code.
"It needs a badge to open it." Kara moaned but then The Doctor stepped in front and used the Sonic Screwdriver to hack it.
"Who needs a badge when you can have a go-anywhere Sonic Screwdriver?" The Doctor joked and it made Kara smile. "Shall we check out what Jack is hiding?" The Doctor asked as they slowly walked into the room and Kara nodded.
"What made you want to check this place out?" Kara asked as her journalist instincts kicked in. The Doctor smiled as he looked around.
"After your chat with Joe Watkins and Snappy's chat with his source, I did some research and they were both right," The Doctor explained, which surprised Kara. "As for how we got here, I scanned the building plans and found out where his office was." The pair then walked into Jack's office and started to look around.
"Doctor, Jack's computer." Kara pointed out as she sat down and straight away, she had trouble. "It's password protected. Any ideas?" Kara asked then The Doctor pointed his Sonic Screwdriver at the screen then activated it; getting past the password as well as loading up all the files on it.
"Let's see what Jack has on Biomax's human trials." The Doctor suggested then Kara opened up the file which surprised them both. "It's empty. The whistleblower was right." The Doctor was now confused.
"Doctor, there's a file called Self-trials." Kara told him which got his attention. "Shall we?" She asked and The Doctor nodded as he pressed the Enter Key: it contained a video file with Jack Spheer.
"Biomax: version 38." In the video, Jack was holding some kind of injection device which had an orange bottle. "Human trial one. Begin." Jack then placed the injection device on his arm and injected himself.
"Oh my god." Kara exclaimed as they watched Jack scream in pain. They watched Jack's body change: making his body made out of Biomax chips. "The human trials weren't missing because there weren't any; he tested them on himself." Kara realised and The Doctor nodded in agreement.
"Jack must've known the nano-swarm was dangerous from the beginning," The Doctor started as he looked up at the door. "That's why those two men died: to keep the whole thing quiet." The Doctor looked angry and Kara had no idea what would happen if this new Doctor got angry. "Kara, use this!" The Doctor tossed over his Sonic Screwdriver and Kara caught it. "Sonic the footage, I'll copy it into the TARDIS and that way, no one will find out if anyone has seen it." The Doctor explained and Kara nodded. She pointed the Sonic at the computer while The Doctor ran into the TARDIS to check if the download had started.
"Doctor?" Kara shouted then The Doctor ran out the TARDIS to see the Nano-swarm outside the window.
"Kara, run!" The Doctor shouted and Kara ran towards the TARDIS. Kara just got in as The Doctor closed the door and locked it. "Kara, on the console panel, there's two big green buttons; press them. It will activate a short EMP, pushing them back." The Doctor explained as he used the Sonic Screwdriver to lock the door. Kara ran up to the console and hit the two green buttons.
"Let's get out of here!" Kara suggested as she pulled down the accelerator, causing the TARDIS to roar as it dematerialised. "How much of the footage did we get?" Kara asked as The Doctor checked the Sonic Screwdriver.
"Not sure. I'll check on it in a bit." The Doctor answered as he walked up to the console. "First things first, let's get away from here." The Doctor suggested as he put the address of Kara's loft into the TARDIS and pushed up a red and blue lever.
TARDIS:
After he dropped Kara at , The Doctor started doing research about Jack Spheer, Spheerial Industries and Biomax: he wanted to know as much as he could about everything until he found something.
"Lookie what I have here!" The Doctor exclaimed as he stood up from sitting on the stairs, he picked up the phone on the console and made a call.
"Hello Doctor, got anything new?" Kara asked while The Doctor placed a folder on the TARDIS console.
"Yeah. Are you still at ?" The Doctor asked as he was looking into the paperwork closely.
"Yes, I am. Snapper gave me back my job. And I found out something." Kara told him and The Doctor looked up with a smile.
"Beth Breen!" They spoke at the same time which made them both chuckle.
"It seems that Beth Breen signed for the human trials that we both know, never happened." The Doctor spoke first as he looked at the paperwork he copied.
"She's Spheerial Industries' chief financial officer; who has a lot of money riding on the success of Biomax." Kara added which made The Doctor think.
"Kara, come straight to the TARDIS, NOW!" The Doctor shouted then in a flash, the TARDIS doors burst open and there was Supergirl. "Lena's gone to Spheerial!" The Doctor told her then Kara ran up the stairs and pulled the accelerator.
Spheerial Industries:
Meanwhile, Lena was being followed by Jack, who was being controlled by Beth Breen. Jack had been ordered to inject Lena with Biomax. But before Jack could get near, a blue Police Box materialised out of nowhere and was now in front of Lena.
"What the hell is that?" Beth asked then the doors opened and Supergirl flew out, she landed next to Lena to protect her.
"Beth Breen; chief financial officer of Spheerial Industries and your everyday control freak." Lena looked at the Police Box to see the man she knew as John Smith walk out.
"Mister Smith?" Lena asked but he shook his head.
"I'm The Doctor; I go around and save people from all sorts of trouble: from aliens who want to turn people into machines to stopping misused tech." The Doctor introduced himself which surprised Lena. Beth made Jack release some of nano-swarm to attack Supergirl while Lena tried to stop Beth.
"Doctor, that's the control." Lena shouted as a white device fell away from Beth as Lena kicked her in the stomach. The Doctor nodded as he jumped and slid across the ground, snatching the device from Beth before she could get it.
"Finder keepers." The Doctor smiled as he took out his Sonic Screwdriver and started trying to alter the programming.
"The mainframe!" Lena suggested then she ran over to the computer and she tried to find a way to override it.
"Even if you did override it, it could destroy the nanobots and kill Jack as they've merged!" The Doctor told her as he ran over whilst still Sonicing the control device.
"DO IT!" Lena and The Doctor looked at Jack who was in pain. "Do it!" Jack shouted and as Lena started to cry, she activated the override: the nano-bolts inside Jack bursted out of his body while the ones covering Supergirl bursted away. Supergirl climbed down while The Doctor and Lena knelt down beside Jack. The Doctor used the Sonic Screwdriver to scan Jack's body until he looked at her with sadness in his eyes.
"I'm sorry, Lena. I'm so, so sorry." The Doctor apologised as Lena cried. Supergirl next to Lena then hugged her for comfort. "Supergirl, take Ms Luthor wherever he wants to go. I'll take care of everything here." The Doctor told her and Kara could tell that the Time Lord was both sad and angry about what happened. "Why are Humans so evil and cruel?" The Doctor shouted as he kicked a table then smashed his hands down onto the table, he then started to collect the data and equipment to take to the DEO.
This is the end of chapter 9 and I hope that you liked it. What was your reaction to the Doctor and Kara becoming a couple? Prepare for a lot of surprises in future chapters.
