Merida's bouncy curls flounced as she stepped out from the circle as she prepared to give her verse. Except…That was when swarms of black-clad figures surrounded them all.
Some of the girls recoiled at the sight of people clad head to toe in black. The people from the balcony rushed down to the ground with levitation charms.
Bruno froze momentarily until he threw himself into action. His small, compact body slammed into the much taller figures, delivering forceful shoves between their shoulder blades with his head, shoulders, and hands.
"What do you think you are doing?" a dark voice demanded, "you stupid Spaniard?"
"I am not from Spain, and I probably write better than you in English with it being my second language," Bruno retorted. "I'm defending my nieces and nephews." Then he jabbed the man with a knobby elbow. The breath was knocked out of him.
Regulus went out on a frenzy, casting spells left and right, and yet trying to throw shields on as many performers as he could. One person's robes had been set on fire, revealing more black attire. Elsa got him in a single blast.
"You monster!" his closest comrade shouted at the Snow Queen. That stopped her in her tracks. It had been so long since she had heard that terrible moniker. That was the opening he needed. She was hit with an unknown curse.
"You are the monster," Anastasia cut in, seizing him up. "You have not paid for your crimes. You have killed over a dozen people in cold blood because your parents abandoned you when you were young and therefore have not had the best childhood. The cycle is hard to break." Rapunzel hit him with a frying pan when he was in the middle of his stupor.
Rapunzel went out on a whacking spree, not missing a mark. The princess was unaware of a cutting curse until it shore off her hair at shoulders and went through her dress, causing her to cry out.
"Rapunzel!" Anna screeched, delivering the offending figure a precise kick to the groyne. The scream that was produced was blood-curdling, painful to Dolores' ears.
She had wished that she had Bruno's visions, the ones that he hated and Asha had granted that wish. In a large bag around her waist, she smashed the figures over the head with them, dark eyes glittering with fury. She had never been this loud as she declared, "NO ONE CALLS MY TÍO BRUNO STUPID!"
With her steps so silent and her super hearing guiding her to the most unsuspecting intruders, it was very satisfying when they were distracted by the sand that they were eating. Sand was coating the stage floor wherever she went.
Regulus was too busy to realise that bright green curse was heading his way. "REGULUS!" a craggy voice bellowed, forcing him to the ground. The curse sailed over their heads, crashing to the ground behind them. Grey eyes met his own. The man was a bit broader, but yet still considered slim by societal standards.
"Grand-uncle Regulus," Regulus stated in astonishment.
"Nephew," Regulus I replied firmly. "I am greatly pleased with what my namesake has done with his life." The younger man smiled as he scurried behind the other to watch his back. Together, the duo charged at an unattended area full of unwelcome visitors.
"REGGIE!" Sirius shouted, rushing up to the pair.
"There's this concept called subtlety!" Regulus I declared irritably.
"You're not Reggie," Sirius retorted.
"I'm not Reggie, I'm Regulus I," the elder man shot back. He and Sirius shared a look. "I'm not going anywhere without him." Sirius nodded and rushed off.
"I'm so sorry!" Alice cried, forcing masses of people through freshly made portals. "I seriously should've closed the portal when everyone had been through!" She was only a few feet from the pair of namesakes.
"The damage is done," Pocahontas answered with a sigh beside the distraught girl. The athletic girl manipulated the wind around them to lift the sinister people in a tornado. When they were sufficiently disoriented, they were released only to be dispatched against a wall with a mighty thud.
"Eugh!" a disgusted Isabela exclaimed as she noted the vomit pouring out of their slack mouths. She sent vines to tie up the stragglers in their vicinity. The ones she wasn't able to get, she impaled them with very prickly cacti. Isabela grinned as a man in colourful damask robes dispatched a figure who was escaping from their thorny bonds. "Thank you…?"
"Alphard!" the man supplied. "Sirius III's maternal uncle!" However, an Impedimenta caught him off guard, tripping him. That reminded Isabela of her father.
A cry interrupted them as Lilo exclaimed, "Antonio's jaguar just ate an evil person! Ate them whole!" They all grimaced. She danced through a battle between a relative of Regulus and Sirius' and three of the intruders. She got two with a kick and a punch, while the relative had gotten one.
Luisa hated it, but she used her strength to squeeze the figures until the air had nearly left them. They'd be out cold for a very long time. Cygnus III appeared next to her and levitated her out of the path of a quickly forming crater.
"She could have done that herself!" a figure taunted. "Do you have the need to help everyone too?"
"Shut up!" Cygnus roared with fury. His wife, Druella, accompanied that statement with an effective bone-shattering curse.
"Don't listen to them, Señorita!" the woman declared, burning a hole in another's robes.
Another shout joined theirs halfway across the stage. "You don't belong here!" a girl with thick dark brown hair shouted furiously, staring angrily at those who had interrupted their performance.
"The House of Black doesn't belong here either!" her opponent retorted.
"At least they haven't hurt us," the girl said in return. She called him colourful names, but refrained from using profanities. The seemingly endless masses of people dropped to the ground as if they had been stabbed in the chest.
"Skye!" a girl with a deeper voice shouted as she appeared right on top of an unsuspecting menace. "I accidentally took out Camilo as he was impersonating one of them to get them to fight one another," her friend said sheepishly.
"Oops," Skye said. Cassiopeia shot the pair a stern glare as she stepped between an angry red curse heading their way and deflected it. Then Skye's friend, Maddie, spotted a purple curse that she absorbed with a shadow. After that, they passed Elena, who was exhaling magic to use it as a force to crush her opponents. Beside her, Sofia was sucking her into jewellery pieces.
"I hope that they are done with it soon," she lamented.
"Soon," the patriarch of the Black Family, Phineas, assured her firmly as he blocked a curse that had been meant for her. He pitied the victims of Tiana's work as she stuck them to the floor with frog mucus, where they were still out in the open as they were ready targets.
Skye and her friend delighted in how a group of the intruders crowded around Ariel and Aurora, standing in trances, captured by their voice and hypnosis respectively. Unfortunately, Sirius' cousins by marriage, the Lestrange Brothers, had been caught in them as well.
They spotted their friend, Kate, using a long, slender, aluminium rod to whack their opponents. A blinding smile with pearly white teeth grinned at her as he took inspiration and picked up his own cane to use it for the same purpose. Across the way, another elderly Black was using a gun to take out enemies. "Go Marius!" Dorea cheered as she threw a shield on her elder brother.
"Dorea!" Marius responded as he turned just enough to see her get a gash to the head.
On another part of the battlefield, Cinderella was controlling time to allow Eilonwy to brew concoctions to dump on them. Kida was leading a continent of Black Family members, Lycoris, Violeta, Ursula, and Cedrella for leadership strategies and then implementing them. They created a square formation with Sirius II inside.
Eilony's most potent concoction boiled its victims to a skeleton within moments. There hadn't been time to scream.
Vanelope drove her car like a madwoman, crashing into as many people as possible. However, one crash took her out after the tenth one.
Wendy was watching over the performers who couldn't fight anymore, but she was ready if needed. On the other hand, Mulan used her sword and other old weaponry to take out anyone close to the non-fighting princess.
Raya used her own magic to anticipate the magic her opponents used. She deflected the intent back on themselves, so they would lose. However, she missed one and succumbed to a bone-crushing curse.
Tinker Bell was one of the few performers who were left unscathed as she was so tiny. Her opponents weren't so lucky as they went to sleep via Pixie Dust.
Mawuli left her targets' ears ringing with the curses they'd never understand as they came from every language, living and dead. There was a predatory grin on her face when her mark struck. Her dark eyes were sparkling, adding an eerie picture as she was dark-skinned, thanks to her heritage from Ghana. An orange spell lit up her dark features in a brilliant glow as it connected with Sirius III's paternal aunt, Lucretia. "Lucy!" Orion bellowed.
"What!" Lucius answered, fighting his way through a crowd. He had to grab Snow White and drop to the ground to avoid a spell.
"Lucretia!" Orion clarified. Mariano had been able to make rounds and observe the House of Black as they fought. It was a marvel to point out the similarities and differences as they all had signature features that they shared. Maid Marian modified the movements of a batter in baseball to hit the ball at her targets. The ball would return to her. That strategy cost her though as she was the victim of a sickly, bright yellow spell that made her innards spill out in an ugly way.
The battle was, now, only starting to slow down. Giselle used her flexibility to reach for opponents from a remote location, only to fling them away forcefully.
Nala manipulated objects like the piano seat to take out people. Yet, she also used her strength to do that as well. The shock that they had come face to face with a lioness would forever be hilarious.
Off to the side, Sirius had thrown his body over Mirabel's, protecting her. She wondered what he would do with the bouquet of flowers, but said nothing as she directed sewing needles into places where they didn't belong. The man above her enforced that by adding extra painful spells. Narcissa came by, adding to the colourful array of spells nearest to her.
Nearby, Fiona was transforming into different forms of herself to use the different properties in an unpredictable way to surprise the intruders she was dealing with.
Additionally, Harry Potter and the Tonks Family were using patronuses to send them into a weakened state of shock to finish them off.
A maniacal cackle could be heard over the wiz of spells as Bellatrix, Andromeda Tonks' sister, delighted in their shock as she helped dispose of them.
Shanti was telling story after story to captivate the rest of the intruders until they couldn't harm anyone. Megara had spoken to Zeus to borrow his power to control lightning while Meilin cursed some of their families to turn into an animal when they had a particularly strong emotion. A vindictive grin lit up Walburga's face as she made Meilin's victims permanent. Her parents placed their hands on her shoulders in a scolding manner.
"I don't do that to everyone!" she protested.
Buttercup used her teleportation to round up the bodies to be removed when the battle was finished. There were only stragglers left. Belle induced a few heart attacks as she shocked a few of them. Her speed was used to save more than a few in the heat of the battle. An example being Esmeralda. She calculated where all of her allies were to ensure their safety.
Jane's parkour skills caused the intruders to lose another soldier. Now it was one on one with the leader and Regulus. Regulus I was still on his back. Spells were flying, red, green, blue, deep purple. It was an amazing kaleidoscope of colour that reminded Harry of battles in the past.
While that was happening, Odette and Jasmine were checking each of the performers. Kate was using her healing gift to revive and heal the people that had lost their battles on their side. Bruno was also offering healing food that he had.
Moana memorised the directions of the spells to help Regulus better. Sally was conversing with the dead as the souls of their opponents were received accordingly.
A desperate "Bombarda!" finally finished the leader. A strangled cry escaped two pairs of lips as he collapsed from exhaustion.
"All done," the couple whispered. The affirmation fell on deaf ears.
"Let me see him, Sir, Madam," Kate requested. They nodded, only because they had witnessed what she was capable of. Her magic seeped into him, healing any physical ailments and lightening the load mentally and emotionally.
When her magic dissipated, his eyes opened. "Hey," she said.
"Hay is for horses," he grumbled. The princess laughed.
"You need to rest, Kate," Mirabel said from behind her. Kate smirked.
"I know, but I'll do it later," she appeased.
"Everyone is fine physically," Esmeralda said. "You may, now, rest."
"We can rest while we are listening to music," the royal retorted. "But it won't be here as it has been destroyed."
"Where can we go?" Sirius I asked.
"The music room," Rapunzel supplied.
"How about we sleep first?" Bruno cut in tiredly. "Although, we should eat before."
"My mom can get us a meal," Mirabel offered. Her family members separated to help Julieta prepare. It was a bunch of Arepas Con Queso and a chocolatey dessert.
The rest of the performers could finish when they were all rested.
A/N: All other House of Black members will be mentioned in subsequent chapters. The Weasleys have too many people to be included. Only the people on J.K. Rowling's hand-drawn tree is included.
A/N2: This is AU and thus many of the previously dead family members are alive and have been well. On average, a wizard lives 137 years or more. More will be explained.
