CHAPTER 2: Wandering in a Godless Land

(PERCY)

This wasn't the place I thought I'd be. I had expected to be in the Underworld after I had been stabbed but somehow I had ended up here…wherever here was anyhow. I went to push myself up but ended up falling because of my lack of strength. The stab had sapped more of my strength than I had thought. Giving it more effort, I tried again. This time, I was successful in pushing myself off the ground. As I looked around, I saw that I was on a beach with a forest. No road nearby and no visible signs of life. Feeling the familiar weight of Riptide in my pocket, I would forge on, into whatever unknown I had ended up stumbling across.

I was walking in the forest for roughly thirty minutes before I ran into a road. It was a small road, only allowing one car to travel in either direction. Unable to tell which way a town might be, I decided to go right, down the road hoping to find any sign of life. With only my tattered Camp Half-Blood shirt and a pair of jeans, I was starting to feel the cold of whatever land I was in.

As I walked on, the temperature began to drop dramatically. I hadn't run into any monsters yet. A breather from the hell scape I was usually in. Day began to turn to night, the temperature dropped to below freezing. Being a child of Poseidon, I was able to resist the cold and keep going down the road for a short amount of time, but even that had limits. It began to snow and the longer I walked, the weaker my body became. I started to lose hope that I would find anything or anyone.

Walking for another ten minutes, my body wanted to collapse. A lack of food and a snow storm starting to develop overhead, I knew that my time was running short. I could feel my strength being sapped out of me every step I took. I only made it another mile before I nearly collapsed but the Gods happened to be on my side for once as I finally spotted a house in the distance. It was less a house but more like a cabin. There was smoke coming from the chimney which made me assume that there was someone home.

I began to make my way up the steps and made my way to the door. As I was going to knock on the door, I felt my exhaustion quickly catch up to me. I was about to get two knocks on the door before the world around me began to spin. I could hear footsteps make their way to the door as my body began to shut down. During my last final moments of consciousness, I was able to see the door open and the shadow of a person from the lighting within the house and with that, I entered the realm of Morpheus.

(UNKNOWN)

As I opened the door to see who would be knocking at this late hour, I saw a person I thought I would never be able to see again. There were far too many thoughts racing within my head but my biggest question was the one I would say out loud, speaking to the wind. "What is thou doing here.."

I know it's been a long time since I've written anything for this story. No it hasn't been abandoned. I'm still gonna try and get chapters done. Life has been catching up to me so I haven't found much time nor had much motivation to write but most recently, I decided to try and hop back in it and see if I could bring myself to do it again. hopefully you all enjoy the chapter. Until next time - MS
