"MERRY CHRISTMAS, FAIRY TAIL!"

The cheers which came from Team Natsu nearly raised the roof from how loud and jolly they all felt. They were in good spirits from the fun they were having at the annual Fairy Tail Christmas party. The youngsters were stood around a tall Christmas tree - at the foot of which sat brightly-wrapped presents, each one with their names written on the labels.

"Think it's about time we opened our Secret Santa gifts!" Gray suggested. "Don't you guys agree?"

"Sure do!" Erza nodded. "Spent a real fortune on what I'm giving. Would hate to see it just sit here, unloved and untouched by the lucky person it's for."

"Ohhhh!" Wendy squealed excitedly. "I can't wait to find out what my present is - whoever it's from!"

"What d'you say, Natsu?" Lucy asked the namesake of their guild. "Should we open our Secret Santa gifts now?"

"Why not?" Natsu grinned widely at his teammates. "Let the unwrapping begin!"

"Yay!" Happy cried jubilantly. "It's present time!"

"Whoop-de-doo…" Carla muttered dryly.

Nobody wasted any time in grabbing the gifts that were labelled to themselves from under the tree. They tore off the wrapping, throwing it over their heads and shoulders. They were all eager to find out what they had been given for Christmas by unknown givers.

Every single one of them cried with great astonishment upon finding out what their Secret Santa surprises were.

"A choo-choo?" Natsu stared in bewilderment at the toy train in his hands. "Is this a joke? Who would give me something I have travelling on?!"

"Hair dye?" Lucy's jaw dropped at the tub of brown hair colouring she was holding. "What's this supposed to mean? That I don't look good as a blonde?"

"A picture of me and Natsu?" Gray narrowed his eyes at the framed photograph of himself and the pink-haired boy. "Why would I want a pic of him on my wall? Unless I use it for a dartboard…"

"Non-alcoholic drink?" Erza shook her head at the beverages that didn't have any chance of getting her intoxicated. "This sucks! I was hoping to get drunk over Christmas!"

"Umeboshi?!" Wendy winced with disgust at the pickled plums which she had an intense hatred for. "Eww! What kind of sick person would give me these gross things?"

"How to Pick Up Tomcats?" Carla's tone was filled with disbelief as she read the title of the guide in her paws - which she proceeded to claw to pieces. "Why would I wanna know how to have male kitties stalking me!"

So far, nobody in Team Natsu had expressed joy over their Secret Santa surprises. They were not happy to be given gifts which they clearly hated. They exchanged irked glared with one another. Whoever had sent them their respective presents from was not being cool or clever by sending them things they would not appreciate.

"Woohoo! What an awesome gift!"

Everyone snapped out of their irritable states upon hearing the delighted cry which had escaped from Happy. They turned to see him dancing with joy over what he'd just unwrapped. The blue cat was the only one who was pleased with what he'd been given as his Secret Santa gift.

To the surprise of no one, it was a large, juicy fish.

"Best present ever!" Happy declared merrily. "Thanks, whoever sent it!"

The rest of Team Natsu exchanged gazes with one another. All silently smiled over Happy's reaction to his gift. What he'd received for Secret Santa may not have been the most original or imaginative present to give the cat - but it was something he appreciated, and that was all that mattered…

…even despite the fact he was going to get a lot more fish to open on Christmas Day.

Not that Happy minded getting heaps of his favourite food. He always asked for fish every single Christmas. The more fish Santa Claus brought him, the more he lived up to his name.

"Merry Christmas, Team Natsu," Happy said with his mouth full of fish.
