Chapter 2: Three heroes and the dragon
Plot: Taylor Hebert's first evening as a super-heroine will be unforgettable, first she risks being burned to death, she is saved by three heroes dressed in purple and black, then she is healed by one of them.

Narrator's POV
About twenty minutes before the fight with Lung.
Something strange happened on the roof of an apartment building with a view towards the port.
A phenomenon has begun that science may call a wormhole, also known as the Einstein-Rosen bridge, that is, a special portal or tunnel created to quickly travel from one place to another, regardless of the distance between them.
The phenomenon in the field of Magecraft can be defined as a commendable imitation of Second Magic combined with the natural powers of a planeswalker.
The whole magical phenomenon began with the appearance of a runic symbol composed of five lines, the mark is transparent in color and seems to radiate power and authority.
A few seconds later, five more symbols started to appear around the first rune, these symbols are white, blue, black, red and green.
Slowly, the main rune and the five major runes released magical energy, starting to "weave a transparent web" in space, forming a perfect circle with a circumference of three meters.
Then, a spiral formed by countless minor runes that can barely be seen with the naked eye began to appear on the canvas.
Finally, all these mystical inscriptions emitted a strong glow together, creating a circular portal that slowly changed color.
The first being to emerge from the bear is... a female raven with obsidian feathers, blue eyes, and a silver beak and claws.
The bird began to fly around the building, while its blue eyes turned gold, allowing its owner to look through them.
Shortly after, a witch, a hunter, and a knight passed through the portal, ending up in Brockton Bay.
For almost all the inhabitants of the world, their arrival has gone unnoticed, but some more "special" people they felt a profound disturbance.

In an unknown corner of North America, a woman wearing a felt hat has completely stopped performing her duty, her path to victory... has been profoundly shaken.
In orbit, a creature resembling a naked woman who hides her modesty via numerous wings has placed her full attention on Brockton Bay, studying an unknown factor that can ruin all her plans.
In one of Brockton Bay's elite neighborhoods, a 12-year-old girl is suffering from a terrible headache, her brain having just rewritten the entire probability table of future events.
In the Birdcage, the prison for the most dangerous super-criminals in the world, a woman with the appearance of a little girl with blond hair and green eyes has stopped drinking her tea.
The "fairies" of the woman they announced that in the "theater" a new "theater band" has just arrived. and among them there is a "king" with its unique group of "fairies".
In Europe, a "golden man" who was rescuing a cat stuck in a tree stopped for a single moment, then, as if he were a mindless robot, went back to doing his routine.

Unaware that their mere presence has shaken the fate of the entire world, the three purple-clad heroes have taken their first steps onto the Earth-Bet.
The portal dispersed into a hundred multicolored particles of light, leaving behind a small light show and possibly some strange radiation or energy emissions.
" We have finally left Ravnica and I hope to return soon." Saver said as he holds what appears to be the artifact used to create the portal.
In Saver's hands is a black cube of pure obsidian, decorated with complex geometric and runic symbols on the inky surface small lights appear and disappear in its depths.
"I agree with you, Senpai. Ravnica is a unique place where we can find some of everything and every type of person. But it doesn't take much to end up in secret conflicts between the guilds." Shielder said, sharing Saver's sentiments.
The witch approached the edge of the roof, starting to look around very carefully.
" Bruce, Mash, we haven't made it to the Boiling Isles." He declares the witch, with a disgruntled tone, using the real names of Saver and Shielder.
The Latin woman wanted to return to her second home populated by Witches, Demons, Liminals.
Instead, she and her two friends arrived at an unfamiliar, shabby-looking place.
" Senpai, I think you should do maintenance on the Daedalus Cube, we've come to the wrong place." The knight girl said, looking in Saver's direction.
" Maintenance? Are you telling me we traveled across the Multiverse using an artifact that was not tuned?" The witch asks, raising an eyebrow, wanting a clear answer from her friend.
" Luz, I've been working at Daedalus Cube for over seven years, actually ten years if we count the time spent in Chaldea." Bruce said in a stern voice, using the witch's real name.
"My Black Cube is one of my greatest creations, containing a hybrid of Fuyuki City's Holy Grail program and Chaldea's FATE program, as well as the many technologies I've incorporated into it over the years.
The Daedalus Cube does not need maintenance, it is indestructible and never fails."Saver declares with a protective tone, defending his cubic masterpiece.
" If your Cube is perfect, why are we on a parallel Earth instead of the Boiling Isles?" Luz asks, wanting to know why she hasn't returned to the Boiling Isles.
The witch wants to hug her dear girlfriend, Amity Blight, who hasn't seen her for a while; of time.
Saver remains silent for a moment, opens his mouth and prepares to give his answer.
"Senpai, please don't blame Lord Zelretch." Mash said, aware that Bruce has a tendency to blame Zelretch for most problems or mishaps involving interdimensional travel.
" I was going to say that the cause of this unexpected deviation in our journey may have been caused by a unique dimensional interference of this Earth.
But I personally believe that the universe wanted us here." Saver said, laying out his two theories on how they got here.
Hearing this response, Luz seems slightly irritated, while Mash seems minimally upset.
" Your philosophy of being a leaf at the mercy of the wind of the universe is sometimes irritating." The witch said, not liking the sudden change in their travel plans.
"Luz, you knew Senpai long before me. You should already be used to unexpected events, they are practically a regular occurrence if you stay by Senpai's side.
Years ago, my first visit to Modern London was interrupted by a Symbiote invasion and the appearance of an Ancient Symbiote Dragon." Mash said, in an affectionate voice, mentioning an old unexpected event that was the beginning of a tiring job for Chaldea, but that's another story.
Unlike the witch, Shielder doesn't seem to have a problem with arriving in this unfamiliar place.
The knight girl is happy to stay close to her Senpai and travel through the Multiverse, embarking on a thousand adventures.
" You're right, Mash." Luz said, pushing her bad feelings aside.
Mash is right, things like this happen to Luz and Bruce a lot, basically once a year they get stuck in another world or end up participating in something extremely dangerous.
" I'm sorry for my five minutes of nastiness. But I really wanted to go home and hug Amity.
I'm happy to have the means to talk to her and see her whenever I want.
But it's not the same as being really close to her." Luz said, apologizing for her "bad mood." shortly before.
The girl knight stands beside Luz to talk woman to woman.
"I think I understand how you feel, Luz, sometimes I feel that way about Senpai.
Physically, we are together day and night, but every now and then an invisible barrier appears to keep us apart.
Being so close and yet so far away is a horrible feeling." Mash whispers, placing a hand over her heart, as if she were speaking from her own experience.
' Being friendzoned is bad. I should help Mash out of the friend category and into the lover category.' Luz thinks, feeling pity for Mash's situation.
Saver while making his Daedalus Cube disappear, approached the witch and the knight girl.
" As you already know, the Daedalus Cube will need a week to open a new portal safely." Bruce said, reminding his two friends that their mode of transportation needs time to function properly.
"So, Master, do you have any idea where we are exactly?" He asks for Luz in a friendly and playful tone, wanting to joke a little.
The androgynous boy's face remains stoic, but he raises an eyebrow slightly when the witch is calling him, Master.
"First of all, Luz, you don't have to mention me, Master.
You are not a true Servant, you are not even a Demi-Servant like Mash or a Pseudo-Servant like Ishtar.
You are Good Witch of Boiling Isles, my first and best female friend, I prefer you to treat me as a friend and not as a Master or King." Bruce said, feeling uncomfortable when Luz calls him Master or Majesty of him.
" To answer your question. The three of us are on top of an apartment building near a run-down port in a city with economic problems and a high crime rate, located on the East Coast of the USA, north of Boston." Bruce said in an androgynous, stoic voice, being able to state their location without looking at a map.
" Senpai, as always, your tracking skills are impressed, not even Enkidu has such extra sense." Mash said, complimenting Bruce on a trait of his unique abilities.
" Okay, we have an idea of where we are, but exactly when are we? "The Witch asks, not sharing Mash's enthusiasm, wanting to know the date and time.
"The date is April 10, 2011, 10.20 pm." Bruce responds, being able to set the date and time without having to use a calendar or clock.
" Out of curiosity, if we were at home, Earth-2126, what would the date be?" Mash asks, unable to remember the date of their home world due to their constant travels across the Multiverse.
" On Earth-2126, the date is July 7, 2021, 8:20 pm." Bruce said, being able to establish the date and time of another Earth.
" It means we've been traveling for almost seven months together." Mash said with a blush on her cheeks.
The girl knight realizes that she explored the Multiverse for six months with her Senpai, then Luz joined the journey for reasons she did not explain.
" Last question, do you have any idea which Earth we have arrived on, have we already been there or is it a new Earth?" The witch asks for more information on their location.
If they have been to this world before, it means they probably have a friend who can host them and someone who holds a grudge against them.
If this is a completely new world for them, it means zero friends and zero acquaintances, but at the same time zero enemies and zero criminal records.
For a moment, Saver doesn't respond, as if he couldn't answer this question right off the bat.
Taking an inhale, Bruce's Magic Circuits slowly ignite, neon purple circuit-like lines manifesting across his entire body.
The air around Bruce heats up, the large number of very high quality Magic Circuits have the secondary effect of making him a kind of living stove.
Saver looks up at the sky, his good eye observing the sea of stars, as if he were about to speak to them.
' Time to see our Heimdall in action.' Luz thinks, knowing full well what her best male friend is about to do.
"Sjálfr Sjálfum Mér." Saver recites in a low voice, saying the magic words that allow them to use his Rank-EX Mystic Eye.
In the moonlit world, Mystic Eyes of Gold level or higher often contained great magical arts that had long been lost in the modern era.
Gold level Mystic Eyes can earn a seal designation with one wrong step.
For the Jewel and Rainbow ranks, they are so rare that their very existence is hypothetical and cannot even be verified.
An example of a Jewel-category Mystic Eye is Ophelia Phamrsolone's Mystic Eye of Prolongation.
Saver's Mystic Eye belongs to the Rainbow category, its operation is difficult to describe, but in simple terms it can be compared to a combination of Odin and Heimdall's sight.
Saver's good eye has undergone a change, acquiring an unusual pattern and coloration, as if the night sky was held captive in his eye.
"Earth-99998W. It's the first time we end up on a five-digit Earth, which means there will be a lot of differences from the Earths we know." Saver states, as he continues to use Sjálfr Sjálfum Mér to see the entire world.
" It's nice to have a best friend who is basically a GPS and Clock for space-time travel on a multiversal level. It makes everything easier." The witch said, appreciating this skill set of Bruce's, without them their journeys would have been much more complicated.
" Bruce, can you tell us if you see something unique in this world, should we be worried about something?" Luz asks, not wanting to wake up surrounded by zombies or killing machines.
" Senpai, don't overdo it, use Sjálfr Sjálfum Mér at full capacity for more than a minute, it hurts you." Mash said, with a worried voice, not wanting her Senpai to get hurt.
" Earth-99998W is a... messed up world." Bruce murmurs in a cold, distant voice, bringing his right hand close to his temple.
" This is a bad sign." The witch and the knight girl said at the same time, standing on both sides of Bruce, ready to catch him if he falls or faints.
The Last Master of Chaldea turns off his Mystic Eye, returning his color to normal, then appears to stagger for a moment.
'Human society is close to collapse, at most they have fifty years, before ending up becoming a post apocalyptic world like Mad Max or Fallout.'Thinks Saver, having seen for a few moments the enormity of the problems of this world.
" We should seriously find alternative methods of obtaining information about a new earth and traveling through the Multiverse." Mash said, longing to have different means to not be so dependent on Saver's abilities.
"When is it until Da Vinci-Chan finishes building the Horizon Border. Traveling by ship would be much more convenient for all of us." Luz said, sharing the same sentiments as Mash.
" Girls, my migraines are nothing serious, there are more important things that need our attention." Bruce said, finding it cute, yet annoying when girls worry about him.
Taking a couple of steps forward to inch away from the girls, Bruce pulls from his utility belt, a capsule containing pills made of a mix of phenethylamine, adrenaline and a couple of other substances.
" In a minute I'll be as good as new." Saver said, before swallowing a single pill that is supposed to help him with his migraines.
" Don't try to make your problems smaller. This isn't just a headache, you reacted worse than usual, you must have seen something shocking or received information overload." The witch said, not letting her male friend sweep her problems under the rug.
" Senpai, maybe you should lie down for a while. of time, we can sit on the edge of the roof and look at the view." Mash suggests, not wanting his Senpai to do anything when he suffers from migraines.
" We can do this later, now we have something extremely important to do." Saver said, summoning his high-tech bow into his hands.
" Give me a reason not to use a sleeping spell on you." Caster said, pointing her staff at her male best friend.
Bruce is a workaholic to make him stand still, you need the combined strength of Three Mothers or Seven Witches or at least Three Heroic Spirits (Altera, Nero Claudius, Tamamo-no-Mae).
" In the port near us a beast is about to burn a girl in an insect-themed costume." Saver said, pointing to a bright spot in the harbor caused by the flames.
After saying this sentence, Savert activates his Magic Circuits again and begins running towards the harbor at superhuman speed, leaving a trail of neon purple electric sparks behind him.
" This is a good reason to act." Shielder said, calling upon her cross-shaped shield, ready to step in to protect someone.
Mash activates her Magic Circuits, neon blue circuit-like symbols appear around the Demi-Servant's legs, a sign that she is strengthening her legs to be able to move just as fast as her Senpai.
In an instant, the armored girl took off in the direction of the port.
" We, heroes, can never rest, there is always someone to save or something to do." Caster said, with a small smile on her face, unable to do anything but love his work with his ups and downs.
The witch also activated her Magic Circuits, first of all a golden yellow glyph appeared on her chest, after which other circuit-like symbols spread across her body.
The blue-eyed crow that was flying around watches as three bright spots, one purple, one blue, and one yellow, are running together towards the harbor.

Present, inside the port of Brockton Bay.
" Saber-Hammer-Lightning Maneuver." Saver said, explaining the entire strategy in a single sentence.
Running as fast as the wind, Saver dashes forward, zigzagging to avoid several fireballs launched by the Asian supervillain.
Once close enough, Saver suddenly increases his speed, disappearing from Lung's sight, becoming too fast for the naked eye to perceive.
' Where's the boy!?' Lung thinks, with an alarmed look, not used to fighting such a fast or invisible opponent.
Not knowing where the shot would land, the Asian Super-Villain covers his entire body in flames as a defensive measure.
Unfortunately it moved too slowly.
SLASH !
Saver performed a double deep gash on the left side of Lung's waist, cutting several tendons of the leg.
Lung clench his teeth, ball a wild shot with his left hand, aim for Saver's head.
"Slow." Saver states, ducking low enough to dodge Lung's strikes.
The golden-eyed hero wastes no time thrusting his sabers into Lung's left leg, further damaging his movement abilities.
The Pseudo-Dragon, instead of screaming in pain, prepares to breathe fire at the hero.
" Predictable!" Saver exclaims, releasing his grip on his sabers to deliver a double punch, aiming for Lung's lungs and jaw.
These shots forced the Asian supervillain to shoot a jet of flames into the sky.
Saver took advantage of the moment to deliver a kick to Lung's gut and pull his swords out of his foe's flesh.
Lung swings his arms wildly, wanting to tear the hero apart.
But Saver leaps backwards, easily dodging Lung's strike due to their large difference in speed.
Once again, Lung prepares to roar and spit a stream of fire at Saver, but at that moment, Shielder intervened.
SMASH!
The girl knight darted forward with the speed and force of a train, using one side of her shield as if it were a warhammer.
The supervillain was hit in the upper chest, shattering much of his rib cage.
In addition to broken bones and internal bleeding, Lung was thrown into the air, eventually rolling violently against the asphalt road.
" You are strong, but I am stronger!" Lung shouts with a voice full of anger, looking at the girl in armor as an enemy to be killed at any cost.
The Pseudo-Dragon wasted no time in standing up on two legs, especially when they were damaged.
Lung gets on all fours, distributing his weight and strength so he can leap towards Shielder.
' He does not possess technique or use strategy of any kind, he relies purely on physical strength.
He must be used to fighting inferior opponents.' Mash thinks calmly, managing to learn a lot about his opponent simply by observing his movements and how he reacts.
" Stupid." Saver declares, holding his mechanical swords down, confident that the fight will be over in the next few moments.
As the armored girl moved, Lung could see Caster moving her staff to draw a circle in mid-air.
The movement was not purely dramatic, by moving the staff the witch was creating a line of golden yellow light.
Once the circle was completed, the air felt "dense," as if something invisible and powerful had been concentrated within the circle.
The feeling got worse when a complex-looking glyph appeared in the center of the circle, granting the circle a mystical, fantastical glow.
" Lightning Spell: Triple Throne Sphere!" Caster shouts, touching his magic circle/glyph with his hand, as if he's giving them a little boost.
The witch's handiwork lit up like a beacon, then gave birth to three large orbs of pure electrical energy that were fired in Lung's direction.
The Asian Super-Villain couldn't move fast enough to dodge the electric spell, but he could put his arms in front of his head to protect himself as much as possible.
BLAM!
The Pseudo-Dragon's arms were hit directly, severely damaged, receiving third-degree burns and losing most of his scales.
Lung fell onto the inert ground, filling the asphalt with numerous cracks.
" The beauty of lightning magic can paralyze the enemy, affecting the nervous system, dulling the senses and brain-body coordination." The witch said, walking slowly towards the Pseudo-Dragon, ready to cast another spell if necessary.
The witch's offensive spell didn't just damage Lung's arms, instead the energy traveled through Lung's body, reaching his brain, causing a "short circuit."
Saver and Shielder also approached the dazed and partially fried super-villain.
"Weak." Saver states, making his sabers disappear and give a small nod to Mash.
" Goodnight." The knight girl said, throwing a "moderate" to Lung's head, enough to knock them unconscious.
"This is better than any rest or medicine." Saver said, seeing combat as an alternative method to traditional healing.
Slowly, the Asian supervillain began to lose scales and shrink in size, with each passing second he became less of a beast and more of a human, until he completely reverted to his original form.
" Because not all people capable of turning into huge monsters can't have the common sense of the Hulk and keep some pants on." The witch said, looking away from Lung's naked form.
Mash did the same thing, shifting her attention to something else.
' My female friends are weird. They have seen and defeated horrors straight out of Lovecraft's nightmares, but they feel uncomfortable with simple nakedness.' Bruce thinks, not being able to understand how the head of the witch and the knight girl works.
Saver takes a capsule from his utility belt and throws it at Lung, who is covered in an adhesive foam similar to Spider-Man's webs.
This made Caster and Shielder feel more comfortable.
" We defeated the ugly dragon, let's go and see how the damsel feels." The witch said, walking towards the teenage superheroine, not wanting to be near Lung in this state.
" You go, I'll stay and do a quick scan of this guy." Saver said, starting to work on the touchscreen of his minicomputer hanging from his left arm.
The two heroines dressed in purple and black approached Taylor, who was still lying on her stomach on the street.
' I feel like I'm a creep.' Taylor thinks, having wanted his first encounter with heroes to be more decorous.
" Are you hurt!?" She exclaims the witch in a worried tone, now realizing that Taylor has been partially burned by Lung.
Caster and Shielder immediately knelt next to Bug-girl to better examine the young super-heroine's wounds.
" No life-threatening injuries, but you need medical attention." Mash said, feeling relief that the younger girl isn't in danger of coming to a bad end in the next few minutes.
Taylor released a sigh of relief she didn't know she was holding, obviously she got hurt, really bad, but worse could have happened.
" I'm not going to lie, your injuries are serious, third degree burns over a large part of your back and legs, normally you would need surgery, a month spent in hospital under supervision and a lot of physiotherapy." Caster said in a stern voice, speaking as if he were some kind of doctor.
' Surgery, hospitalized, physiotherapy!? '
I can't afford such treatments and how will I explain to dad where I got these burns from?' She thinks the teenage superheroine, slightly panicking, completely unprepared mentally and financially.
" Don't lose your mind, normally you would be rushed to a hospital.
But these are not normal circumstances, we are here to help you." Caster said, creating a circle of light with a small glyph inside with a wave of her hand.
The witch held her spell towards Taylor, targeting the teenage super-heroine's injured back.
The horrible pain Taylor was feeling was lessening every few seconds, to the point where it had completely disappeared.
" Are you a healer!?" Taylor exclaims in a surprised voice, feeling like a new girl.
Capes with healing powers are incredibly rare, those who also possess offensive abilities capable of defeating Lung, almost unheard of.
The young heroine prepares to get up, but is stopped by the girl knight.
" Don't try to get up, you risk worsening your injuries." Shielder said in a stern voice, sounding like an older sister scolding her younger sister for trying to do something stupid.
" But I don't feel pain anymore, am I not well?" Taylor questions, confused as to why she can't get up.
" I'm a battle witch, not a support witch. Healing isn't my strong point, I'm trying to get better, but I'm limited to the basics.
All I did was soothe your pain, in short, I gave you a powerful painkiller." The witch explains that she used her abilities to prevent Taylor from feeling the pain of her wounds and that she did not heal them.
" Caster took care of preventing you from suffering needlessly, Senpai will heal you." Shielder said, providing some comforting information to Bug-girl.
The witch and the knight girl turn their heads in the direction of Saver who remained next to the unconscious Asian super-villain, continuing to do scans.
" Saver, come here and prove that you are worthy of the title you bear." Caster said, interrupting Saver's work.
Shaking his head, Saver finishes doing his scans and turns his attention to his female friends.
' I hope I can continue later. This Pseudo-Dragon's brain contains something interesting.' Saver thinks as he walks towards Caster, Shielder and Bug-girl.
" If you called me, it means something has appeared that you can't handle." Saver said, standing in front of Taylor, keeping his arms crossed.
" Senpai, you could be less Kuutsundere, the girl needs to be fixed up, before she gets an infection or the effect of the anesthetic wears off. Shielder said, wanting the girl to be healed as soon as possible.
" Little girl, you will feel a subtle pain for a moment, followed by a warming or tingling sensation." Saver said in a stoic voice as his right hand underwent some sort of metamorphosis.
Saver's entire right forearm is covered in a white viscous substance that changes on its own to become a kind of mechanical glove with five needles/syringes instead of fingers.
" Is it a safe procedure?" Taylor asks, somewhat intimidated by Saver's claws/syringes.
" I am an elite doctor and scientist. I have done delicate surgeries and medical procedures in extreme situations with a high success rate. I'll fix you up in less than a minute." Saver said in a serious voice, before raising his arm and...
SLASH!
He pushes his claws/syringes into Taylor's back, penetrating the protection offered by Bug-girl's costume with ease.
" I feel like I've been bitten by a spider!" Taylor shouts, unable to help but shudder, the experience of this healing is not pleasant.
" Senpai, you could be more delicate." Mash comments with a slight note of disapproval, aware that her Senpai is perfectly capable of using less sadistic ways.
Saver doesn't respond, he gives his full attention to Bug-girl's healing procedure.
Inside Taylor's little body, a white substance is spreading throughout his body, starting from the spinal cord, reaching the circulatory system and continuing to spread.
" Little girl, do you want me to just take care of your burns or I can make you 100% healthy." Saver asks in an indifferent, yet professional manner, treating this situation with seriousness.
" Do your best, you are the healer." Taylor replies in a shy voice, not knowing what she means 100% healthy, but it's probably something good.
" Don't exaggerate, the girl wants to be healed, nothing more, nothing less." The witch said, reminding her male best friend to stick to healing her.
" My code of conduct prevents me from making changes of any kind without the consent of the person or those responsible for him if he is a minor or incapable of making a decision. Saver responds, in a serious voice, taking the patient's freedom of choice and explicit permission very seriously.
The white matter inside Taylor's body has been fixing every single bit of damage ever sustained, starting with the burns and dismantling the invasive material.
Healing continued by working on the microfractures present in the skeletal system, followed by hundreds of other operations, repairing all damage that can be found in the human organism.
Towards the end of the recovery process, Taylor underwent the equivalent of a very long list of extremely effective vaccinations and gene therapy to improve the immune system.
" Finished." He declares Saver, pulling his claws/syringes out of Taylor's back, having removed any trace of the healing substance.
" How do you feel now?" The witch asks as she holds out her hand to help Bug-girl to her feet.
" I feel great, in fact I don't think I've ever felt better!" Taylor exclaims in a voice full of energy, feeling like she can run all night.
" Who are you three?" Bug-girl questions, wanting to know the names of the three purple-robed heroes who saved her life and healed her.
" I am Caster, the witch of the glyphs, I have a thousand tricks at my disposal." Caster said in a dramatic voice as she moves his staff, leaving a trail of lights like stars behind it.
