Chapter 13 - Night Kids

The next day,

Han had drove to downtown Tokyo - coordinating a business deal for the upcoming horse races. Later, he grabbed a bite where he'd heard something interesting from a group of high school students."Nakazato hasn't been the same since he left the Night Kids; some guy in a Z33 took him out ! The other person replies, No way! It'll be a bad thing if Shingo hears about this.

The Night Kids had fell under Shingo's lead since Nakazato left to pursue his own goals. Shingo was one of the top drivers in the Myogi Night Kids - famous for the Gum tape battle with his Civic EG hatchback. Not many racers are able to handle the lack of range when one's hand is taped to the steering wheel; a dangerous way to race especially in the mountains. Han thinks to himself, "Seems like these guys party on a whole different stage - that guy's crazy enough to tape his hand to the wheel? Hmm that's wild!" He then approaches the students ,asking how often are the Night Kids battling? One student replies, "They haven't battled in a while but they've been just hanging around the mountain at night - no one wants to race them out of fear of the gum tape battle". Han's phone beeps with a notification as takes his leave "Thanks for the info guys".

That night…

Han arrives at the mountain pass where there were a few people gathered. As he glances around, cars with the "Myogi Night Kids" banner: Toyota MR2, Toyota Supra and a Nissan S13 - but Shingo's Civic EG6 was not present. Miyahara (driver of the MR2) approaches Han's car asking "Hey you're new here; are you here to watch or are you with a crew?" Han replies "No I'm solo, I heard that the Night Kids were out and wanted to see the action for myself." Miyahara looks back at the other drivers and explains to Han that the only action is for official runs on the mountain. This means that Han's only option is to race rather than watch. Han asks, "So what are the conditions?". Miyahara states if he wins he can join the Night Kids, but if he loses, Han can never go to the pass ever again. Han agrees and says "Sure…why not." First run versus the S13 on the downhill , then versus Toyota Supra for the uphill and then finally the MR2 on the downhill.
