Chapter 14 - Battle
Han pulls up to the starting line to take on the S13 for the first downhill battle. Miyahara explains that the rules are simple, sudden death to the bottom, if chaser overtakes or leader is more than 3 lengths ahead - the race is decided. Miyahara adds," this is our home course so you're going to chase…try to keep up..". 3…2…1….Go!
The S13 drives off with good speed with Han in his S15 close behind. The power difference was apparent art through the start in the high to mid speed section. The S13s entry point into the first corner catches Han off guard as he's feeling out the course, but he's not far. Both drivers enter the slow section after the first hairpin as they continue to move towards the consecutive S curves. Han realizes that the S13s speed through each corner flows consistently but it's nothing when racing versus the AE86. As they enter the straights the gap becomes closer. Han realizes that if he can keep a close gap he'll be able to win the battle - the Supra may be a bit more work, but Han knows that the S13 is the slower car. Both cars make it to the bottom with less than a length between them. Up next is the Toyota Supra A80 on the uphill battle!
