"Jess, you know how you've been spending a lot of nights at the bookstore." She was having lunch with him before he went there.

"Yeah," He digs into his nacho.

"Do you think you could at least sleep in the apartment? I know it's stupid and needy but I miss your presence." She missed curling up next to him.

"You miss me or your body pillow." Jess wasn't a cuddler but he tolerated it.

"Can't it be both?" She pouts. "I know it is hypothetical of me to ask you this when you moved here for me and are supporting me both financially and emotionally and…"

"Stop!" He put his hand up. "I choose to follow you here and I'm glad I did. If I didn't I wouldn't be with you and I wouldn't be opening my own business. As far as supporting you in every way I can, you need to stop feeling indebted to me. You have done the same for me. Even when you had no reason to, you put your faith in me. That belief is why even when it was hard and felt pointless I got my GED. Even though I hate work, I am motivated to go to my day job every day, because I loved coming home to you. If anyone should feel indebted to anyone, it should be me to you. If it wasn't for you I would be couch surfing in New York bouncing from one shitty under-the-table job to another because I never got my GED. So, promise me, you will try to stop feeling that way."

"I will try." She needs to nip that depressing thought in the bud.

"The guys have agreed that we've been burning ourselves out." He ate a nacho.

"All of you have been working seven nights a week." The guys were keeping their day jobs also until the store opened.

"So, we agree on one day a week. A real day off that matches our day jobs. We're way ahead of schedule." When Chris fell asleep sanding a bookshelf they knew they needed to take a break.

"So, I was vulnerable for nothing." She could have stayed quiet and had her problem solved.

"No, it's nice knowing you miss me." He smiles. "I'll come home to sleep. Besides, the crappy couch Matt bought at a garage sale has been killing my back." He rubs it.

"I've been sleeping great." She stretched out like a cat.

"Then why are you begging me to warm the bed for you." He teases.

"Alright, don't let your head get too big." She rolled her eyes.

"I'm parking. Stop rushing me." Anna was on the phone with Thomas.

"It's a limited edition. It's going to sell out by the time you get there." He huffs.

"I'll get the damn Gucci belt. I'm getting out of the car…. Walking to the store." She gave him a play-by-play. "Going to enter the store."

"You're in front of the store… stop!" He yelled.

"What?" She was getting frustrated with him but did as he told her to.

"Look at the showcase window." He instructed.

"Holy Fuck." Her jaw dropped. Thomas was on the poster dressed all in Gucci. His hands were tucked into the waistband showing off the belt. "I know him. That's my best friend." She screams to the people passing by. They gave a who cares to look before moving on.

"Stop before you get mobbed by all my adoring fans." He laughed.

"How did this happen?" She stared at the poster.

"A model agent was at one of my mom's galleries, saw me and that's it." He gave a short story.

"So I guess being a pretty boy will be your profession." It was something their friend group would joke about when he didn't have an idea of his future.

"It's one gig." He shrugged.

"A big gig. I want a copy." She went into the store to see if they had one. Thomas was able to talk the lady into giving her an extra poster.

"My mom called me." Jess came home earlier enough to see her awake tonight. He crawled into bed with her.

"She has been calling you once a week." She smiles at Liz keeping her promise to keep in touch.

"Yeah, but don't get excited. We are never going to have the sickness that you do, calling your mom and sister every day." He thought it was too codependent.

"It's not every day. Maybe a few times a week." She shook her head.

He let out a hum. "She said the renaissance fair is coming near us."

"Oh my gosh, please say we're going." She shot up to smile down at him.

"I said we would go this Friday. She says you don't have to dress like that." He let her know.

"I'm going to pick up my fairy dress from the play on Thursday." She was glad to get a second use of the fancy dress.

"You're going to drive that long for a dress." He thought it was less money to buy a new dress than waste gas.

"I'm going to visit friends and family too." She defends her choice. "Today was such a good day. I find out Thomas is a Gucci model and I get to go to a renaissance fair."

"Thomas is what?" He questions.

"Look." She got out of bed to show him the poster. "He called me to get me an exclusive belt that was only being sold in America and when I got there it was in the window."

"Did you steal that poster?" He tilts his head.

"No… The lady gave me the extra one." She put it back on the side. She was going to get a frame for it.

"Did you pester a poor worker until she gave it to you? I hope you at least bought something." He thought she could at least give the girl some commission.

"No, I gave her the phone and Thomas convinced her." She corrected.

"If only he used his powers for good instead of getting you free dessert and posters." He chuckled.

"We also use it to get discounts on things." She joined him in the bed.

"Oh, I stand corrected." He scoffs.

"Mom, I'm here." She walks into the house.

"We're in here." She yelled from the living room.

"Hi Sookie, Davey." She greeted her mother's guests. She picked up the baby and coos at him. He giggles while grabbing onto the loose hair hanging in her face. "What are you guys doing?" She saw them looking through magazines.

"Deciding on the lamps for the Inn." Sookie shows Lorelai a lamp.

"Too Swedish." She dismissed it.

Davey started to cry. "What's wrong? What did I do?" She panicked.

Sookie got up to take him. "It's not you. It's the bells. He hates them."

"The bells? I don't hear anything. When did we get bells?" Anna asks.

"In Stan's will, he left money to fix the church bells? Now they ring every half an hour driving the town mad." Lorelai informs. "Why is he crying the bells aren't ringing?"

"Because he's gotten used to their cycle and cries in anticipation of them." She covered his ears when they rang.

"Oh, they're kind of nice." Anna enjoys the sound like the rest of the townspeople did the first time they rang.

"Not every half an hour. I missed what Tim Gunn said to make that girl cry on the project runway." Lorelai couldn't watch tv without missing a few lines.

"Maybe they can ring once a day around noon or something." She thought of a way to honor the man without driving the town crazy.

"I'm going to mention that at the next town meeting… No, I'll go to church after this." Sookie couldn't wait for the end of the week while Davey was suffering.

"Did you know Luke was living in Litchfield with Nicole?" Lorelai wonders if he told her.

"No. I didn't know they were back together. It's good that they're not letting being married ruin them." She always thought it was silly that they broke up.

"You don't think that it was a big deal that he moved and didn't tell anyone." She thought she would be upset considering how she saw the man as a father figure.

"It's Luke. He doesn't tell anyone anything about his personal life. He could be a spy or work for the CIA or something." She wasn't going to be offended when she knew the man liked to keep his business private. "It's not like it's personal, he doesn't like people commenting on his life."

"Yeah. So, why are you so bothered?" Sookie hands Davey back to Anna now that the bells are done.

"Because I thought we were 'friend' friends, but we're just coffee friends. I buy the coffee and he's my friend. It's like a dog and a liver treat. If you have a liver treat, the dog will like you and that's us." She pouts.

"Or you the liver treat or the dog?" Sookie sat down to look through magazines.

"Well, I am a liver treat. I thought I was a collar or at least a cute leash and I'm not." She leaned back into her seat.

"Wait, if Luke is the dog, the money would be the liver treat and you're the person trying to befriend the dog. You're upset because all this time you thought you were building a connection with this dog but you realize he only let you pet him while he was eating the treat." She tried to go along with the analogy.

"Yes." She nods after thinking about it.

"Okay, did you tell Luke about Jason?" She wonders.

"No, she didn't. She finished her phone call with him before going into the diner the other day." Sookie ratted her out.

"So, what's your point?" She glares at her friend while talking to her daughter.

"Why didn't you? Luke is your friend. Why doesn't he know about your new relationship?" She turned the tables on her.

"Because I don't know." She whines.

"Because he gets jealous and weird every time you're in one." Sookie once again answers for her.

"She is asking me the questions, not you." Lorelai reminds her.

"Well, you're not answering them." She wanted to help where she could.

"What is the point?" Lorelai wants to get back to picking out lamps and complaining about the bells.

"My point is that is the answer to your question. You get jealous and weird every time Luke is in a relationship. You had to force yourself to be nice to Rachel and she was the nicest." She remembers when Luke's old flame came to town.

"Because she leaves him high and dry every time." She hated the way everyone made it like she wasn't going to hurt Luke again.

"My point is that you and Luke enjoy the possibility of each other. It feels consistent and safe. It's upsetting when someone takes that." She bounced Davey on her hip.

"Are you studying psych or cooking?" Sookie was amazed by the analysis.

"Cooking because she's wrong. Aren't you here to get a dress? Are you going to a chef ball or something?" Lorelai brought up why she came.

"Jess's mom is selling her jewelry at a traveling renaissance fair. It's gonna be near us, so we're going. I thought I would use my fairy dress." She put Davey down to go upstairs to get the dress.

"Woah, you can't walk away after that sentence. Jess is talking to his mom again? She works at the renaissance fair?" She stopped her from leaving.

"Yeah, having to admit she couldn't handle Jess made her check herself into rehab where she learned to make jewelry. The renaissance fair was the first place that would let her sell her stuff. She met her fiance there. She wanted Jess to walk her down the aisle, so she came to visit us. It's been going well, so we're going to visit her at the fair." She gave the full story.

"That's great. I'm happy for him." She was glad that the broken kid that came to Stars Hollow was healing himself.

"Me too." Anna nods before going to get the dress.

"No way, CBGB. That is an amazing Lane." Anna stops by Luke to have lunch with Lane during her break.

"I know. I can't stop smiling." She has been gushing since she got the news. "I need the perfect cover story."

"Why? It's one in the morning. Your mom goes to bed at nine at the latest, so if you guys leave at ten. You can sneak out, do the gig, and come back before she wakes up." She thought it was perfect.

"My mom wakes up in the middle of the night to check on me. I'm not talking about opening the door and closing it. I'm talking about looming over me to see if I'm sleeping." She wishes her life could be that easy.

"That's creepy and invasive. Have you ever thought of moving out?" She would scream if she woke up to someone staring at her.

"Are you kidding me? I thought about moving out more times than I can count. I can't afford a place." She sighs.

"You could get roommates. People from your college, there have to be more people like you there." She suggested.

"I thought so too but I have yet to find one. I'll come up with something. I always do." She was determined. "So, do you have any more stops after this?"

"I got tea with Emily." She gave the rest of her plan.

"Well, make sure to call me and tell me about the renaissance fair. I am fascinated." She hopes it comes near Stars Hollow soon.

"Will do." She laughed.

"Can you believe it?" Anna screams in the car.

"Yes, I can. We're in a small place, don't scream." Jess was driving to the fair.

She took a deep breath and spoke at a normal volume. "You don't do that. You don't kick your kid out when they have nowhere to go. You don't reject them just because they have different interests than yours. And my mom who holds a grudge against my grandma for stating her strong opinion is pitting Mrs. Kim. She shamed Lane all her life to the point she had to hide everything about herself. My mom never had to hide. No matter how much she screwed up, my grandma had her back." She got the phone call before she got into the car. She was livid.

"Breathe babe. She is safe with Rory." He tried to calm her down.

"I have to get it all out, so I can enjoy the fair. That woman should have gotten a dog if she wanted complete obedience, not a kid. Okay, I'm done." She let all the anger flow out of her. "I feel bad for Lane. She must be feeling so unloveable right now." She would cry for her friend later when she was in the shower.

"It sucks. If Lane ever needs it she can stay with us." He parks the car.

"That's sweet, babe." She was surprised by the offer.

"She hated me for that little while after Rory's arm broke but other than that she's cool." He got out of the car. He helped her out so she wouldn't trip on the long dress. "I can't believe you kept the elven ears and everything."

"I hoped I would need it again." She walks into the fair to smile at all the people having fun in costume. "I feel the magic in the air."

"That's one way of putting it." He thought it was a little sad. These people were running from something and that's why they were diving into fantasy.

"Thank you, sir." She took a map from the jester that was passing them out.

"Thank you for gracing us with your presence, forest elf." He smiles.

"He has a good eye." She was impressed he didn't think she was a fairy. She looks down at the map to see they have selections for games, food, and shopping.

"We should get our outfits for the wedding here. They're doing a renaissance theme." She thought it would be the perfect opportunity.

"I guess." He wasn't looking forward to dressing silly for this.

Anna's arms were filled with shopping bags. She got a whole outfit with accessories. They were walking up to his mom's stall. "Hello, madam." She greets.

"Hello." She got up to hug them. "TJ, this is my son Jess and his lovely girlfriend, Anna. Guys this is my fiance, TJ."

"Hey, great to meet my future son and daughter-in-law." He jumped up to pull them into a big bear hug. Anna laughed while Jess wanted to die on the spot.

"It's great to meet you too," Anna said.

"I'm happy you guys could make it." Liz smiles.

"A reason to dress up is Anna's favorite." Jess watches her buzz around the apartment. Until the call, she was talking in an old English accent.

"It's every woman's." TJ teased.

"I got a gift for you, Anna. It's a thank-you gift for helping me reunite with Jess." Liz pulled out a jewelry box.

"What? You didn't have to." She opened it to see purple and silver dangling earrings. "Thank you, it is beautiful and it matches the dress that I just bought for the wedding."

"She got a sixth sense about these things." TJ put an arm over Liz's shoulders.

"So, what do you guys recommend doing here?" Jess asks. TJ went off on the games he liked, the food stations, and the shows that took place in the center of the field.
