AUTHOR'S NOTE: What? How am I... what is this?! Isn't this fanfiction from 2014? Isn't this from the guy that said he'd eventually finish all his Peanuts stories? Surely this couldn't possible mean...!

It's 2023, no longer 2014... so these two are college students now! Enjoy this twoshot!

Plink, plink, plink... ba-da-ba...

Sounds of one of Schroeder's favourite songs filled the music room, but Schroeder was not the one playing the piano. He waited, patient and purposeful, for the piano player to pause their playing.

"I suppose you were learning this song to surprise me?" He spoke aloud.

BADABA! A chord of wrong notes were played as Lucy whipped around. She frowned, and stood up, waving her hands around. She chose to put them on her hips and huffed.

"I kept this secret for so long! How could you find out now?"

He had a hint of a smile. "I only stopped practicing in the mornings because of my class schedule. I had a class swap."

"This late in the semester?" She fell back in her seat.

"Welcome to American education..."

He sat next to her. He gave her a look, and she rolled her eyes and wiggled a little to give him some space. There was a small gap between them.

He started playing some notes elegantly. "It was nice of you, but you don't have to keep doing things for me. Someone else would appreciate it more..."

She snifflaughed. "Yes, I know. You've said it countless times. I like doing these things for you anyway. Especially for notable days."

"Today's a notable day? What's the occasion?" He asked, playing a peculiar melody. Lucy could play well enough with the white keys, but Schroeder often used any scale he pleased.

She raised an eyebrow. "You don't know?"

The peculiar melody started to crescendo.

"What do you mean I don't..." DUNNNN! He played a chord filled with shock and finality. "No."

Lucy turned to him with a smirk, but tried to sound more kind. "Yes."

"No!"

"Yes..."

He flipped his phone open to check the date, and groaned. "It really is his birthday."

Lucy shrugged, and lightly tapped his side. "Hey, don't stress it. This happens to you sometimes."

His hair was all a mess now, somehow. "It shouldn't happen... not to me..."

"But it does. And it did." She smiled, and stood up, giving them more distance. He turned and looked at her. "It did happen, and that's okay. And you know what Beethoven would say?"

"That I should never face him or play his music ever again for forgetting his birthday?"

"NO, YOU BLOCKHEAD!" Schroeder jumped, as Lucy put her fist to the sky, a strong expression on her face!

"He would say, Schroeder, thank you for being my greatest fan! Schroeder, thank you for learning all my songs, and then some! Schroeder, thank you for doing your darnedest to celebrate my birthday every year when maybe no one else in the world would! Your passion for music is clear, and you share that passion with the world, inspiring more people, like your cool friend Lucy to learn the piano..."

She grinned, and locked eyes with him. "So thank you, Schroeder. Continue sharing music with the world! You'll be great at it."

Schroeder blinked twice, then smiled, and breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Lucy. The way you express your passion is sincere and unique. I really... appreciate it."

"Sincere and unique, huh?"

"Yeah...?"

She sat down next to him again, leaving a small gap, and smiled. "You just mean I'm loud, don't you?"

He smiled, and moved a little closer to her, as he resumed playing.

"Yes, Lucy, I mean you're loud."
