Jaden woke up early the next morning to the pleasant aroma of sizzling bacon and eggs. The smell would have been welcoming if it wasn't for the fact she still had the reminder of the house fire in her mind and besides, wasn't she supposed to be alone in the house whilst she recovered?

With this notion in mind, Jaden leapt up from her bed and ran over to the kitchen, where she found none other than Mickey Mouse standing by the replaced stove. Jaden groaned as she approached behind him. "What the hell are you doing in here?" She questioned him, trying to keep her voice light as she knew Mickey too was also still shaken by the recent experience involving the explosion.

Mickey turned to her and smiled. "Cooking you breakfast." He said, puffing out his chest proudly, as if he had just accomplished something great.

Not wanting him to fuck up her house a second time, Jaden roughly grabbed Mickey by his rather large, distinctive ears. To further get her point across, she dug her long nails in to cause a nasty sting and pulled Mickey away from the stove, making sure to turn it off in the process before the mouse could cause any further damage to the house.
Once she let him go, Jaden sighed at seeing Mickey's terrified and ungrateful expression. She didn't mean to scare the poor guy. "Look, I appreciate what you're trying to do, but perhaps you should leave the cooking to someone who can actually cook. Wait, how did you get in here? Merlin locked the door when he left." Jaden questioned, slightly puzzled.

Mickey seemed to brighten at her more friendly-approach. "Oh, it's only locked from the inside. You know, so you can't leave. I understand Merlin told you to rest." Mickey added that last point on, as if to remind Jaden why the door should be locked.

Jaden glanced over at the door in a panic, hoping the mouse wasn't stupid enough to close the door behind him, leaving him trapped here with her. But, much to her relief the door was left somewhat ajar, giving Jaden the beginnings of an idea.
"You know, maybe I'm being too harsh, breakfast sounds great." Jaden made sure to keep her voice light, trying her absolute best to sound optimistic about the whole thing. "Just try not to cause another fire." She mumbled under her breath, sneaking backwards towards the door at the same time so Mickey wouldn't notice what she was doing.

By the time Mickey did realise what was going on, Jaden already had one foot out the doorway. The pair locked eyes for several seconds in total silence, neither daring to make any sudden movements in fear the other would try to make their move. Mickey, never the one who could keep up these types of games, bolted from the stove towards her in his haste to get her back inside the house, only to be greeted with a door slamming in his face. The only noises he could hear coming from the other side of the door was Jaden laughing at his misfortunes and the sounds of her footsteps getting further and further away.
"Jaden, get back in here!" Mickey shouted in mixed frustration and fear.

Jaden ignored his desperate cries and walked away. However, she didn't get very far as she realised there was awfully little for her to do, considering Merlin wanted her to rest and as well as waiting for Remy's house to be built, which wasn't until another two weeks away.
Walking further down the pathway, she noticed a small crafting station located in the garden behind her house, where an idea came to mind. Glancing at her missing right arm, Jaden frowned in consideration. She would quite like her arm back, but she had no idea how to make one. It wouldn't be the first time that it needed replacing.

Not knowing what else to do, Jaden made the quick decision to ask Scrooge for help. Perhaps he knew how to construct an arm from scratch.
Taking the small walk down the road, Jaden entered Scrooge's shop, taking in the shocked expression on Scrooge's face.

The elderly duck walked over to her, jabbing his cane in front of her. "Shouldn't you be at home, you know, resting?" He enquired her, earning a groan from Jaden.

"Seriously? I feel fine, really. I've been through worse, trust me." Jaden said absently. "Anyway, I could use your help." She said as she gestured to her missing arm.

Scrooge examined Jaden's right side for a few seconds before nodding briefly. He led her over to the counter, signalling for her to take a seat beside him. He pulled out a metal arm from under the counter and placed it on top for Jaden to see. "You're lucky I have this, Jaden. That'll be fifty star coins please."

Not even bothering to ask him why he had an extra metal arm lying around, Jaden handed him the money and picked up the arm, testing its weight in her left one. As she attached it to her right arm socket, she saw Scrooge reach into his pocket, where he pulled out a ring.
Jaden gave him a funny look as her eye caught on the ring in his hand. "You're not trying to propose to me, right? I know you've already seen me naked, but-" She stopped mid-sentence as she realised it wasn't just any ring the duck was holding out. It was her wedding ring. "That's…" Jaden trailed off, her voice caught in her throat.

Scrooge nodded. "Mickey saved it from the fire when Merlin dragged you out."

Jaden blinked twice, the surprise registering across her features. "He did? But why?" She asked as she took the ring from Scrooge, slipping it onto her ring finger.

Scrooge shrugged. "Perhaps you should ask him."

"I will. Uh, thanks for the arm…" Jaden found herself leaving the shop in quite a hurry, suddenly finding the need for some fresh air. She felt the beginning sting of tears reach her eyes as she trudged up the pathway to her house, her unfamiliar emotions hitting her like a tidal wave. Could it be possible that she was missing Leo? Jaden didn't think she had it in her to feel anything towards her estranged husband, but here she was on the verge of tears. She scoffed at her pathetic display of weakness. She knew this marriage wasn't going to work since the absolute disaster that was called her wedding day, the supposedly best day of her life. To Jaden it was just something she'd rather forget. But for all of Leo's faults, Jaden couldn't deny that she still cared about him, even if the love there was only one-sided.

Sniffing back her tears, Jaden opened the door to her house and was immediately greeted by Mickey Mouse running up to her, hugging her tightly around the legs. She was taken aback somewhat by the hug and found herself reluctantly hugging him back once she realised he was trembling slightly. She never took him to be the type to be claustrophobic.

Jaden made sure the door was still ajar before picking him up in her arms, carrying him over in her arms like he was a child. The act reminded Jaden of how she used to carry her own children to bed whenever they were sleepy or scared. She sat herself down on the edge of the bed with Mickey sat in her lap, her arms around his small, skinny frame. As much as she was hating every second of this moment, there was a small voice at the back of her brain that told her to embrace this moment. She was still rather shaken up from her feelings towards Leo that even she had to admit she needed somebody right now, and if that somebody was going to be that mouse, then Jaden would just have to live with it.
She was only just vaguely aware that she had started crying when she saw two stray tears fall onto Mikey's arms.
