Unova Region – Area 28

Professor Icarus was working in his lab, getting some work done around his home. When he needed fresh air he went to sit at the back porch, watching the sky, remembering when he and his friend flew in the sky together on his prototype.

"Excuse me, Professor Icarus?"

The middle-aged man of fifty-seven turned, thinking it was someone from town, and asked tiredly, "What is-Aaahh!"

He fell on his rear when he saw a Liepard, a Slaking from the Hoenn Region, and a Rhyhorn from the Kanto region standing there. But his surprise of these two non-native Pokémon wasn't compared to what he heard next as the Slaking spoke, "We were told you could help us."

"Wh-What are you?!" Prof. Icarus asked, scared out of his mind, thinking that they were like that Meowth from Team Rocket from before he continued, "I'm not letting any of you Team Rocket grunts use my research for your criminal-"

"Whoa-Whoa, chill out, we're not with that copy-cat." The Liepard, sounding like one of former his students, assured him. This surprised the Astrophysicist even more.

"We don't mean you any harm Professor." The Slaking said, politely, "We only need a few moments of your time to explain; but please be assured we're not associated with the criminal organization Team Rocket or any others you've heard about."

Professor Icarus looked between the three of them and asked, "Wh-who are… all of you?"

The Slaking looked to the Rhyhorn who nodded and said, with a deeper voice, "You might as well tell him if he's going to trust us."

The Slaking also nodded, before turning to the professor and said aloud, "Optimus Primal: Maximize."

He then changed forms to look like a robot with the Slaking body and fur over his metal frame, after he took on his robot mode, the Slaking introduced himself, "My name's Optimus Primal. Leader of the Maximals."

Prof. Icarus couldn't believe what he was seeing or hearing as the robot before him added, "And we're in need of your help."

Kalos Region - Entering Route 14

Ash and his friends were enjoying another day on their journey throughout the Kalos Region.

Earlier, Prof. Sycamore was about to do an experiment involving a Mega Stone and Keystone that he had found. There they discovered that the Mega Stone related to Garchomp, so Prof. Sycamore named the stone he found as Garchompite. But the day was ruined because of the Predacons and Maximals ruining things because of their war. Prof. Sycamore and Garchomp were able to beat Team Rocket back.

Ash was especially glad the robots left before they could try and convince Prof. Sycamore to get involved in their dumb war…

Since the night he and his friends left the maximal base, things had been… strange between him and his friends; even Pikachu was acting weird. Like he did something wrong. But he had not done anything wrong. It was the robots and their war that did that. Especially since both sides didn't care about them or the Pokémon they pretended to be, like that spiderbot that wanted to dissect Pikachu said… It just was too much for Ash to deal with.

And what was that thing that Clemont said about not really being Ash…?

He was Ash. He has been Ash Ketchum since he started his journey last year and a couple of months. The only thing that changed was him realizing that neither Maximals or Predacons were exactly the same and focused on their stupid war instead of trying to talk things down. But… that new Maximal… Airblazor, she just flew in and used herself to protect Prof. Sycamore and Garchomp…

Why would she do that? Wasn't she like the other Maximals? Too focused on their stupid war? This did not make sense to Ash… and why did her doing that help him launch an attack on the con that tormented him and threatened to dissect Pikachu and his Pokémon team like that… Ash sighed heavily, catching the attention of his partner Pikachu, who asked, in his language, if Ash was alright.

Ash smiled at his partner, assuring him, "I'm Okay Pikachu. Just have a lot on my mind…"

"Ash!"

"Hurry up Ash, we're gonna get there before you do!" Bonnie called, waving at him. Ash smirked and ran to catch up to his friends, unaware of someone watching them from above.

Once they were inside the Astrophysicist's lab, Optimus and the other two Maximals: The liepard Cheattor, and the Rhyhorn Rhynox, explained their situation and how they had heard from a reliable source of him making a reverse engineered version of a Space vessel. Professor Icarus couldn't believe it… other than his friend Elgyem, he got to meet an non-biological alien life-form that had the technology to scan and replicate organic tissue over their metal frames as a means of protecting them from an energy source he never heard of. Especially how their technology was so advanced enough to withstand the power of time as it did, though it saddened him to hear about this secret war between the two factions…

After getting all the info he needed, Prof. Icarus looked and asked, "Just… how did you come to know of me and my work with my proto-type?"

Optimus' face took a smile and answered, "Ash."

Prof. Icarus stood up and asked, "You met him?"

Cheattor nodded, "Ah-huh and we're friends… only…"

"Only what?" Prof. Icarus asked, worried for the boy after seeing how Cheattor had become somber.

Optimus sighed and said, "After a dangerous encounter with the Predacons, Ash decided to take a small sabbatical from helping us find our missing crewmates… When he's ready to rejoin us, we'll be happy to have him with us again."

Prof. Icarus noticed how Cheattor had been quietly clutching his hands, showing he was upset about how things must have went between Ash and these robotic aliens. He had seen it happen to fellow researchers and some students in the universities he taught in… This proved how Cheattor and Maximals truly do care about the boy he met… and also how truly alive these robots were like the Steel-type Pokémon.

Prof. Icarus thought everything over, "Before I make my decision. I need to talk it over with my friend."

"You mean Elgyem?" Cheattor asked curious.

Hearing its name, Elgyem came floating over and staring at the three Maximals. Elgyem made a joyful commotion as it went to the three Maximals before Cheattor laughed, "Yeah that's right little buddy we're from space too."

Prof. Icarus was surprised and asked, "You can understand Elgyem's language?"

"Well yeah, since he's talking like a Pokémon." Cheattor said as he went to play with Elgyem.

The professor was surprised at this and made it known, even though he'd been focusing on the blinking lights that Elgyem used on its hands, "Fascinating."

Seeing how Elgyem trusted them greatly, Prof. Icarus was convinced of the Maximals' good intention and asked, "how can I be of help to an advance technological race as you?"

Ash was walking with his friends when he saw a shape; it looked like a flying Pokémon… but it's size… it was unnatural-

The boy froze, remembering what Cheattor said about unnatural life-forms, meaning only one thing. Knowing what that one thing meant, Ash hurried off with Pikachu on his shoulders, ignoring the cries of his friends.

He went somewhere to keep his friends safe, especially Bonnie and Pikachu, and shouted, "I know you're there! Come on out now!"

"Easy kid, you don't need to shout." A familiar voice said as the Talonflame landed. Airblazor preened her feathers and said, "I was hoping to see you."

That didn't make Ash feel any better. He was about to reach into his coat for a Poké Ball only for the transformer urged, transforming into Robot Mode, "Wait. I just came to talk."

"Why should I!? I'm NOT going back to your dumb war and put innocent people or Pokémon in danger!" Ash snapped, his emotions building again.

Airblazor held her arms up, "I already told you, I just want to talk."

Still cautious, Ash lowered his hands and asked, "Alright then… what do you want to talk about?"

Airblazor sat on a rock and said, "I have a general idea about how you kids met Optimus and the others, and how you separated, but I want to hear from you first."

Ash snorted, "That's it?"

"That's it." Airblazor assured him.

"Fine." Ash stated, telling the story from his point of view.

When he finished, Airblazor exhaled, sad to hear how Ash's story with the Maximals had ended, "I'm so sorry that happened to you… believe me when I say it, I don't think any of the Maximals want to fight this war any more than you want it to happen.

"Then why can't they just stop the fighting and settle things peacefully." Ash asked, angrily.

"If only it was that easy." Airblazor pointed out, "From what I learned, the Predacons and Maximals have had an uneasy peace between them since the war between our Autobot and Decepticon ancestors ended. And the bad blood has been going on for centuries."

Ash huffed angrily, feeling annoyed at her words. Airblazor looked at him before she held one arm to another, "I think you shouldn't try and see this in a binary way… between Humans and Maximals. Optimus and the other Maximals are doing all they can to end the Poké Wars."

Seeing how the boy didn't believe her, Airblazor took another step closer just to ease herself so that Ash can trust her.

"Maybe you should try and see things from Optimus' point of view." Airblazor offered, "He feels the weight of the world on his shoulders because of his responsibility to us, and how much he cares about making sure no one suffers or gets hurt. That's why he jumped at the chance to help you kids when the Predacons attempted to use Prof. Sycamore's Garchomp for their Mega Evolution experiment. He cares so much that he is willing to risk his life in defense of everyone on this planet. Human and Pokémon alike. Every one of the Maximals are willing to make that same sacrifice."

"Ratitrap doesn't seem to share that… especially that night…" Ash muttered, remembering the smaller Robot's uncaring feelings towards Pokémon getting hurt in the conflict that night he was kidnapped and almost eaten by Ariadosus.

Airblazor became silent when she heard this, before speaking to the boy, "You know, there's something about soaring through the sky all day, seeing everything from a distant height, that makes one a keen observer."

Ash remained silent, which allowed her to continue, "I know you are mad at what you thought was the truth… But that's not the whole truth about how you feel, is it? I think you're more afraid of what would have happened to you and your friends, than angry with us."

Ash remained silent. Again Airblazor spoke, "At start of this you saw us as heroes, but because of how you were captured and threatened you turned all that anger and pain on us when Ratitrap opened his big mouth and said something that you didn't want to hear, it made you feel like we're not completely different from the Predacons. Seems to me like you're just using his words to justify your anger and mistrust of us while hiding your fear."

Ash remained silent when she spoke, but then points out, she added, "Optimus feels very guilty about what happened to you. So much so he blames himself for everything wrong… trying to look out for us, the inhabitance of this planet, and the Pokémon that you care for. And the desire to find our scattered comrades throughout your planet."

Ash looked unconvinced, Airblazor asked, "If you had so many lives you want to protect and so many concerns running through your head, would you act any differently?"

That question made Ash quiet as he thought about it. As a Pokémon trainer he had to take care of his Pokémon team and ensure they were all healthy… and Pokémon battles were almost like fights, but it's good for the Pokémon to work together with their trainers and there were rules to ensure that battles won't end up becoming like that town where those two gangs used their Pokémon to fight in a gang war and almost destroyed the town they were trying to make a Gym for…. But there's a difference… and for some reason Ash hated the thought of war like he seen something like this before the Poké Wars started… Why couldn't he remember?

"All I'm asking is for you to take time to think about this because we're all more than meets the eye." Airblazor beseeched, she turned to leave.

Before she felt someone placing their arms around her. Airblazor looked back to see Ash there pressing his face into her body and she can feel tears agains her feathers. Airblazor turned to face him and placed comforting arms around him as the kid let out all the feelings he's been bottling since their last meeting, "It's going to be okay, Ash… just let it out…"

Ash does so as he kept crying and letting out the rest of his emotions that he didn't do back at the Kalos Power Plant. The boy from Pallet town remained that way for what felt like an eternity. All that time Airblazor let him do what he can. The Two were spied on by Pikachu who watched his best friend with a concerned expression, feeling as though he failed Ash as his partner. However, seeing how Ash was talking to one of the Maximals gave Pikachu hope that Ash can be the same person who risked himself for Pikachu that night when the Spearrow Flock attacked them. Pikachu turned and left, going back to the others while Ash did what he needed to.

Once Ash had finished letting everything hurt and bottled up feeling out. Airblazor changed back into Poké mode and flew off with a bird cry. Leaving Ash alone with his thoughts now that he is thinking with a clearer head.

Initially surprising the Maximals, Rhynox spoke, "An earlier confrontation with the Predacons had damaged our ship. We were able to repair some of the damage. We were hoping since Ash mentioned you had made a semi-space worthy craft, that you could help us repair, or even reverse-engineer our generator to our base."

Prof. Icarus was very surprised at this request. It was true that he had made a ship with Dark Energy… but to actually help a species with their own ship and learn more about it… it was a dream come true for him. But then came the thought of the war… and what it would mean if the Maximals' enemies, much less Team Rocket, learned of his involvement… what would mean for the people he cared about… to Elgyem…

Optimus, seeing the expression on the astrophysicist's face, stated, "You don't need to give us an answer right now, Professor. Think this through."

This surprised the human professor remembering how they needed the main generator of their ship to work otherwise… He shuddered to think about this… would he abandon these brave protectors just to keep himself and Elgyem safe or would he put the two of them at risk?

After what felt like an eternity, and a nudge from Elgyem who had come over, concerned for Icarus. The Astrophysicist stood and approached the Maximal leader, "It would be my honor to help you."

A smile broke out on Optimus' face and he accepted the human's hand, "Thank you, Prof. Icarus."

The two shook their hands.

Ash came back to his friends, thinking about what Airblazor said to him. Talking to her seemed to convince him that the Maximals might not share the exact same views as Predacons, but that didn't mean he can trust them fully. At least… not yet…

(As some of you Pokémon fans might have guessed it, the man who Rhynox was talking about was the astrophysicist, Prof. Icarus from the Unova Region's Area 28, in the hopes that he could assist in repairing the main generator for the Maximal base, so that it can be capable of defending the Maximals and any who dwell within safe from any who wish to harm the occupants whether it is the Predacons, human criminals like Team Rocket, or even Pokémon who do not trust what they see like the Rayquaza who wanted all 'invaders' to leave or be destroyed...

What will happen to our hero now that he's able to expel all of those negative emotions out of him after talking to the Observant and thoughtful Maximal Airblazor? Find the answers to this and many more down the line... Stay Tuned, as the Journey Continues.)
