Pain erupted on every part of his body.
Everything hurt.
Henry woke up with the biggest headache imaginable beyond anything he's ever experienced before.
He squeezed his eyes shut, hoping the pain would subside. He had just woken up from however long he'd been out and all he could think about was killing Drex. The pain was almost indescribable, it felt almost like a hundred knives slicing into him all at once with no end near.
Henry focused on his breathing realizing he was near hyperventilating. He focused on the chains that were no longer lingered on his wrists. He focused on the ground beneath him. The soft, fluffy, cozy ground—
Wait. soft, fluffy, and cozy? Was he going mental?
His hands fell to his sides and felt the ground beneath him.
A towel.
Henry attempted to open his eyes fluttering slightly trying to open them but for the life of him, he just couldn't. He was too weak. Too hurt. Too helpless.
Henry was never one to admit when he couldn't physically do something but at the moment his body felt like a ton to him.
No, he wasn't weak. He didn't have a choice. He had to get up.
With everything he had, Henry pushed himself up, letting out a cry in his body's protest. He finally gets around to opening his eyes, half lidded. He felt dizzy so he pushed himself against the wall. He doesn't realize it till now but it's day which means he must have been out all night. The sun's heat radiates off of him giving off some warmth at least in the seemingly cold basement.
Henry can't help but wrap an arm around his abdomen his hand covering one of the big slits performed on him on his side that was still spewing blood. He removes his hand and he gazes upon his palm. Blood covered. Drex didn't seem to have the audacity or even the sympathy of stitching him up or even covering his wounds.
'Why would he.', He thought.
Henry grabbed the towel he had previously lied on placing it on his side, soaking up every last drop of blood.
Drex wasn't going to get away with this.
Henry swore by it.
—
Ray sent Charlotte and Jasper home for the day reassuring them they would continue searching for Henry.
It had been a week since Henry was taken. No leads or approximate locations of where he might be.
Ray couldn't help but think what Henry must be going through right now. Drex can do anything to the Kid, anything but provide mercy. Ray burrowed his head in-between his arms. They didn't have a plan B to this let alone a plan A to follow through. Ray has uncovered many missing person cases over the years. Nothing like where he became a witness to the actual crime itself. He couldn't stop the dreadful quote repeating over and over again in his head,
"The longer someone stays missing, the less likely they'll be found."
The guilt was building up again, not that it had left. It was all his fault.
All of it.
His thoughts were cut short by Schwoz's interruption,
"There's a robbery in progress downtown on 25th Ave, you have to go now if you want to have a chance at stopping them."
Standing up, Ray pulled out his gumball tube from his back pocket and stared at it for a moment.
This was the first time he'd go out to fight crime without his sidekick since he had been taken. His heart sank.
Schwoz noticing the situation walks up to him, "Don't worry, I'll keep searching for him and any leads. Go do what you do best. The city needs you."
'So does Henry', Ray thought.
He nodded and popped a gumball and transformed into his infamous Captain Man suit. Beneath the tubes he looks to his right where his sidekick was supposed to join him on this next adventure. Ray takes in a deep breath and calls out,
"Up the tube"
—
He had no idea how long he had sat there staring aimlessly at the wall and clock in front of him when he heard footsteps getting increasingly louder and louder.
Henry could practically hear his heart pump his chest away.
The doorknob was messed with until it finally opened. The figure beyond the shadows appeared.
Drex walked in with a bottle of alcohol in hand. Drex looked like he had just walked out of a murder scene.
"How you handing things down here? A week goes by and you look just as pathetic as ever" he taunts.
Henry's eyes widened
'No way he's lying. No way its been a week.'
Henry started to lose even more hope.
Drex squat down to his eye level and unpredictively made his finger's way in one of gashes.
"AGHHHHHHH" Henry cried.
He tried to slap his hand off of him but he was too disoriented by the pain to do so. Black dots began to swarm.
"Believe me this pain is no real pain compared to what I have for you today pup." was the last thing Henry heard before all things went dark.
(graphic and mature scenes begin here)
His vision was foggy. He doesn't remember much. A lot of gray area.
Henry is awoken by a bright light shined on him. For a moment, Henry had thought he died and headed towards the light. A little humor for his broken self.
There was a lot of unreasonable amount of pressure around his wrists. They felt numb and it hurt. They felt—
Tied.
His eyes shot wide open blinking away the bright light that shined on him. It isn't until he realized he was standing on his tippy-toes and his hands are bound by a rope hanging from the ceiling.
Panic began setting in.
Henry tried to remain calm, maintaining his breathing while he was crumbling inside.
"Swellview's very own Kid Danger is finally before me in need of mercy.", Henry hears behind him.
He goes to face the wicked man who he barely makes out of from the bright light.
Drex walked up to the kid facing him eye to eye,
"I don't think I've ever enjoyed doing something in my life till now. This is my life's work in your downfall."
'No way he's getting away with this.', Henry reminds himself of his earlier thought.
His only defense is spitting Drex in his face just as he had done before.
"g-g to h-hell" he manages.
Drex smirked and grabbed the bottle of alcohol that sat nearby and soaked his fingers in the liquor and traced his finger across his side gash. Henry loudly cried.
"Oh I intend to."
Drex laughed beneath his breath at Henry's cries. They were like music to his ears. He finally pulls away letting the Kid come back to himself. He wasn't going to let consciousness slip away from him this time.
"Let's begin. The City of Swellview needed another hero. A sidekick to their very own Captain Man. That hero wasn't supposed to be you."
Drex soaked more of his fingers in the liquor and harshly pressed and traced his wounds. Henry's heart was pounding outside of his chest, whimpering and his teeth shuddering.
"Even after your little winning election you still seemed to let people down on your behalf. Remember Sarah?"
Henry's eyed widened,
'Sarah'
Sarah was a girl Kid Danger had met and saved from a threat posed on her parents targeted to be hit. It ended up thought to be a hoax so they were let off the hook. Sarah looked up to Kid Danger and always reminded him he was an amazing sidekick and that his parents would be proud of him just as much as she was. She was a nice girl and dare he say was his favorite person that he had saved in the entirety of his sidekick career. He would even meet up with her at times and she would always thank him over and over for saving her and her family both, even if he didn't really save them.
Unfortunately the "hoax" was never a hoax.
The hit on her parents became made when their house was subsequently lit on fire. None of them made it out alive, no arrests were made or was anyone charged of the crime. Not even a suspect.
Ever since Henry has held onto that guilt knowing he could have probably done something to prevent it. Looking further into it, but he didn't.
How did Drex know about Sarah? The public had no knowledge of the incident. There was never any news coverage or media spread. There was no way of Drex knowing this unless...
Drex was the hitman.
Everything came together.
"y-you y-you k-killed-d h-her d-did you?" Henry managed.
Drex laughed through his teeth. Tired of stroking his wounds Drex decided to just pour the alcohol right onto Henry's wounds.
"AA-ARRGGGGGGGGGG!" The pain was getting to be too much. He didn't know how much more he could take. His body was on fire.
"Would if I did? What are you gonna do about it Kid?" Drex snared.
Furious and full of rage, with his withering but still bare minimum vision, he focused on the pocket knife to the right side of Drex's pocket. All he had to do is grab it and stab him.
He'd be free.
Luckily while Drex was off storytelling Henry had managed to loosen the rope around his wrists gaining back some feeling in his hands. He was waiting for the right moment to go for his attack.
Drex turned to face him and then turned around to put the cork back on the liquor bottle,
This is it, it was now or never.
Henry set one of his hands free and reached to grab his pocket knife and just as he managed to get the blade open Drex turned around and Henry managed to slice a large slash on the side of his check.
but for some reason Drex hadn't seemed to notice.
Drex grabbed the blade right back from Henry's grasp and with his other hand grabbing whits end of his wrist, he sliced right across Henry's wrist without hesitation quite deep for his liking.
Henry let out the loudest cry imaginable. His vision began to blur. He tried focusing on the large amount of blood that began to spew from his wrist. There was a lot of blood. Too much blood. It began running down his forearm and dripping down onto the floor. His hand began going numb.
At one last attempt to free himself he let his other hand free to throw a punch but then he felt a sharp pierce in his abdomen once again.
Drex had stabbed him.
Henry with both hands grasped onto Drex's hand whimpering and breathing heavily. Drex still held onto the blade that was inside him, blood beginning to flood out of his mouth. Drex then quickly removed the blade and he would've hit the hard concrete if Drex hadn't caught him.
He wasn't going to let his captive die just yet.
The conscious world left Henry before he even knew it was no longer existent.

Ray finally made his way to the robbery downtown. He felt a sense of something missing from this crime fight.
That something was Henry.
He shakes his head and tries to think not much of it. Captain Man makes his way into the burglarized location finding three goons attempting to cash open a cash register and bags of stolen items over their shoulders.
"Stop right there you goons"
They all looked up to face him. Dropping their bags of items and stepping away from the register then came out to face him looking buff as ever. They cracked their knuckles and necks seemingly ready to fight.
"Well well well if it ain't Captain Man your not stopping us this time, we're taking it all. Its three against two, one more than you. In matter of fact where is that little pest of yours? I'd like to give him a good whooping."
The goons bringing up Henry brought up another lump of guilt, the villains' voices no longer audible.
'Where are you, Kid?'
—
Henry let out a moan. He was back in the basement.
His back and abdomen were on fire. He didn't know how much more he could take, in fact he had no idea how he was still even alive.
His hand where Drex slashed his wrist beneath was completely numb. Panic started to set in once again.
He couldn't feel it let alone move it. It was immobilizing, almost like his hand wasn't even there.
His heart was pounding against his chest and his ears were ringing. His head was throbbing and everything just hurt for goodness sakes.
His abdomen pain was almost non-existent from where Drex had stabbed him.
He couldn't take it. Thats it.
This is how he was gonna die, lying on the floor pathetically dying the night away.
'If not Drex God, kill me now , I don't know how much more I can take...'
If Henry was completely honest with himself, he was so close to believing no one will find him. Ray and the others will just find his corpse and nothing more.
He was dreading tomorrow and the next day and the next day after that.
God knows Drex can do so much worse than what had happened today.
'Stop'
He's thinking too much, it was making his head hurt even more.
Henry closed his eyes and made his functional hand into a fist.
He promised himself he was going to get justice for himself for everything Drex had done to him so far. He promised he wouldn't let Drex keep him here to die. He promised himself Drex will be the one pleading for mercy from him. He promised he would keep fighting till the very end.
Henry promised to keep every promise.
He intended it to be that way.
