Chapter 14: Is Selfishness Really Bad?
It was after school as Danielle was on her way home. She had gotten a text that Danny would be doing something after school, so she decided to get going.
If Danielle were honest, she felt a little disappointed. She was hoping to hang out with him, but that'd have to wait.
She was passing by the park when she saw a bunch of children around her age. Or rather, her physical age. They were all playing and having fun, totally carefree.
The young girl recalled what she was speaking with her family about during their trip. How she needed to make more friends on her own.
Okay, Danielle. You can do this. You can show Danny and Mom that you can make friends your own age. Easy peasy… She thought before taking a deep breath.
The dark haired girl soon headed to the playground and tried to see who she could be friends with.
She saw a little girl by the jungle gym and smiled.
Here we go… She thought as she went to greet her.
However, as she did, she froze up, feeling a sense of uneasiness for some reason. That's when, to her surprise, someone tapped her shoulder.
"Fenton?" A familiar voice went.
Danielle turned her head, seeing a familiar face.
"Sophie?"
Before her was a girl of Spanish descent on her mother's side, Irish on her father's. She had slightly tanned skin with blonde hair. She wore a light blue jean jacket with a yellow shirt underneath. She wore jean shorts and light yellow tennis shoes.
"Whatcha doin' here?" She asks.
"Uh… I was on my way home." Danielle said quickly.
"Huh…" Sophie then had her hand under her chin. "Come to think of it… I almost never see you go down this route unless it was with that cute brother of yours."
"First… eww." Danielle went in response to her complimenting Danny. "Second… he's got an after school thing."
"I see. Well, wanna hang out?" Sophie asks.
"Uh… I'm not sure…" Danielle said, darting her eyes away.
"Sophie!" A voice they both recognized.
Danielle, turning her head, saw who it was.
"Carly?" She asked.
Before her was a girl of Chinese descent, one with a red dress down to her knees and a yellow jacket. She had a yellow clip in her hair, which was short, brown and with noticeable bangs.
"Hey, Danielle!" Carly went with a cheery voice, making Danielle recoil at her voice. Carly was then laughing nervously. "Too loud, right? Sorry…"
"It's… cool…" Danielle went, sounding unsure.
The two girls greeted each other, before turning to her.
"We're gonna go grab a bite. Wanna join us?" Carly offered
Sophie had a smile on her face as both girls had their arms around each other.
Danielle was silent, unsure on how to respond to this.
I mean...isn't this what I wanted? To make friends? They offered to invite me, I might as well take it... She thought as she considered her options here.
"I'm not exactly in a hurry to go home..." She muttered under her breath.
"What do you say?" Carly asks.
Danielle pondered.
On one hand… I don't know these two. On the other hand, if I spend at least an hour or two with them, I'll prove to Danny and Mom I can make friends…
"Sure, sounds fun..." Danielle said, really wanting to prove she can make some friends.
As Danielle followed the girls to where they wanted to eat, hoping it's something worth telling her family about.
Meanwhile
The trio were among the other students in the gymnasium, here for a special assembly.
Danny was looking at his phone, wondering if Danielle will be okay.
"Really hope she'll make it back safely." Danny said to himself.
"Danny? She'll be okay. You know she will, she's a smart kid with the skills she needs…" Sam assured him.
"I sure hope so." Danny said.
It was then his phone had a ping. Looking at the screen, he saw Danielle took a photo of herself with two girls he figured were Sophie and Carly. There was a smile on his face, thinking she was making friends. He did notice the smile on her face seemed off, but brushed it aside for now.
"Students!" Mr. Lancer called out. "As an extra assignment, you all will be doing special assignments to set up the grand re-opening for the Nasty Burger.
"Why are we doing this, exactly?" Sam asks.
"To welcome the ideal changes the FDA is making for Nasty Burger and for your health… Also, because we get a wonderful donation in return in order to pay for repairs caused by the fire damage last week." Lancer stated.
"Ugh… I don't want to do manual labor!" Paulina was heard groaning. "Why can't we do a nice little bake sale, like last time?"
"Because the last bake sale caused the fire damage." Lancer reminded her with a scowl as he glared angrily at Sam and Paulina.
Flashback
The kids were selling what they made for the bake sale and two in particular were trying to make a sale.
"Cookie?" Paulina offered.
"Egg free, dairy free, tofu chip?" Sam offered instead.
The customer started to step away from discomfort.
"Don't listen to her! These cookies are yummy!" Paulina insisted.
"Don't listen to her! How could you eat that over processed junk that's filled with eggs and milk, when you can eat something that causes no harm to the environment or harms poor, innocent animals?!" Sam argued.
The man ran away, causing the two girls to get into each other's faces.
''Way to go, Suzy Nobody! You scared away another customer with your vegan junk!" Paulina yelled.
"ME?! You were selling your actual junk food and it's ultra-recyclo vegetarian!" Sam yelled back.
The two girls began to show more hostility.
"Stop trying to shove that vegan junk down everyone's throats! It didn't work with Fenton! Why else did you two break up?!" Paulina yelled.
"I'm not shoving! I'm trying to show what a better alternative it is and how dare you mention that!" Sam yelled.
Paulina scoffed, seeing a way to mock her further.
"I can see now why Fenton dumped you, but that's no excuse to take it out on someone with your garbage..." Paulina said in a mean way.
Sam screamed.
"That's it! You want me to shove something?! Here!" Sam shouted, shoving her immediately.
Angered, Paulina shoved Sam back and the two continued yelling at and shoving each other, unaware that Paulina shoved Sam into the oven and knocked over some cooking oils on the counter.
The end result was the oils being ignited and the walls getting lit on fire.
It's only now did someone notice.
"FIRE!" Lancer shouted as he came running in with a fire extinguisher, doing his best to put it out.
Unfortunately, the fire was already spreading quickly. Lancer glared at both Paulina and Sam, who both looked like a pair of deer in headlights now.
"Um...oops?" They went in unison.
Flashback over
Both girls sweat profusely at Lancer's icy glare.
"It was her fault!" They went in unison, pointing at each other.
"But… didn't we make enough money from that car wash?" Valerie asks.
"No… we didn't… Why do you think we had the bake sale?" Lancer questioned with an edge in his voice.
Flashback
It was 1 week earlier and the students of Casper High were having a car wash.
"Just finish this one and we're good to go." Danny said as he began washing another car.
However, Dash was bored and decided to mess around with his favorite target.
"Get soaked, Fentony!" Dash shouted before firing the hose at Danny.
"HEY!" Danny went, shielding himself.
Dash and his cronies laughed mockingly at him.
"Loser…" Dash said.
As he turned his head, a sponge hit him from the back, causing his hair to get soap in it.
"What was that? Speak up!" Danny said mockingly.
Dash gritted his teeth in anger as he picked up the brush and readied to throw it.
Kwan, seeing Lancer nearby, gasped as he tried to stop Dash by grabbing his arm.
"Dude, not worth it!" He went.
"Yes it is!" Dash said as he threw the bucket at his intended target.
Danny gasped and managed to duck, making Dash miss. However, they suddenly heard a crash.
Both of them saw that the brush broke through a car windshield. It was not just any car either.
"CHRISTINE! MY CAR!" Lancer shouted in dismay and anger as he ran to the scene.
Both Dash and Danny were frozen in fear as the teacher examined the damage..
"Uh… Mr. Lancer?" Danny asks despite the fear growing in him.
"FENTON! BAXTER!" Lancer shouted in fury.
Both boys dropped what they were doing and made a break for it.
Flashback over.
Lancer glared at Danny and Dash as well, both avoiding eye contact with him out of fear.
After taking a deep breath, Lancer pinched his forehead in frustration.
"Just try not to cause trouble… For once, in your lives… JUST! TRY!" He went before walking away.
Once he left, that left all of the students to group with each other.
They all began to get ready as Sam approached only Danny and Tucker.
"Okay… I think if we-" She then noticed another face. "Uh… what are you doing here?" Sam asks.
Valerie narrowed her eyes in response to her.
"For your information, the limit is 4. I just figure I may as well group up with people I know." Valerie said.
"Right… we should partner up with the same girl who dissed us when she was popular and tried to hunt down Danny over a grudge." Sam reminded her.
"Sam…" Danny said to her as a warning.
"Watch it, Manson!" Valerie said in anger.
"Well… those of us already in this group will have to take a vote." Sam said in overconfidence. "So… if they want you to join, they just raise the-" Danny and Tucker raise their hands before she could finish, to her displeasure. "No, put your hands down. Tucker, you owe me. And Danny, you're playing favorites because you two dated."
"No offense, Sam… but it's two against one." Danny stated.
"Besides, she works there so that's valuable intel." Tucker added.
"Fine! I'll go with…" Sam turned her head and saw numerous groups.
Some were only two people, some were only three, and yet she scowled at all of them.
"Right… go fraternize with other people… you do so well with that." Valerie said with sarcasm.
Sam scowled at her before crossing her arms.
"Fine… I'll stay… but you're not calling the shots." Sam insisted.
"Of course…" Valerie said with an eyeroll.
Sam turned her head away and saw Kwan with the A-listers. She felt a tinge of disappointment after what she went through.
I can't believe him. Just when I thought that he might be decent, he goes and shows he's still loyal to them… She thought, irritated.
"Sam?" Danny asks, getting her attention.
"Huh?" Sam responded, having zoned out.
"I asked what kind of piece we should do. Maybe a collage or statue?" Danny asks.
"Yeah, sure, whatever…" Sam said as she noticed Kwan still talking with his friends.
"Lemme grab a drink..." Kwan said as he went to get a soda from a nearby vending machine.
"I'll be back…" Sam said, following him.
Danny raised an eyebrow in confusion, only for Tucker and Valerie to roll their eyes at this.
"I see she's taking issue with her new BFF." Tucker said.
That got Danny's attention.
"What are you guys talking about?"
Kwan had finished inserting coins before making his selection. As he pulled the bottle out, he turned around and saw a VERY grumpy looking Sam staring at him with arms crossed.
"I see that you're back to the usual stuff..." She commented.
"Oh, hi Sam..." Kwan waved at her with a smile.
She just frowned at him harder than usual.
"Don't "Hi Sam" me. Don't act like it's okay to just flip on a dime like that..." She grumbled.
Kwan felt a sense of confusion at her actions.
"What's eating you?" He asked.
"Gee, I wonder..." Sam said sarcastically.
"Is something wrong? Why are you acting so… miffed?" Kwan asks her.
"If I'm feeling so "miffed" as you say, it's only because you reminded me why I look down on the A-List." Sam responded.
"Okay, why are you acting even more of a sourpuss than usual?" Kwan asked, annoyed.
Sam grew angrier.
"First of all, that was sarcasm when I said I was miffed! Second, I'm angry at you! You're being another poser, and a selfish one at that." She said.
"Selfish? Poser? What the heck are you talking about?" Kwan asked.
Sam groaned and lightly slapped her forehead at his words.
"How about acting like we didn't even hang out in front of your so-called friends who are all as shallow as a puddle and then playing nice when they aren't around? That's… what I call selfish." Sam said, acting not dissimilar to how she was with Danny.
Kwan frowned at her attitude.
"Okay, maybe I was kinda cold to do that, but it's rich that you are calling me selfish just for hanging out with my friends..." He said.
"What is that supposed to mean?" An angry Sam demanded as she raised an eyebrow.
Kwan rolled his eyes, showing an attitude she's not used to getting from others.
"You call me out for hanging out with my "shallow friends" as you call them, but you only seem to hang out with Fenton and Foley. You don't even hang out with the other goth girls or F-listers at school. At first I thought it was because of some kind of reputation or just unpopular opinions, but now I think it's because you haven't even tried to make actual friends..." Kwan accused.
Sam was taken back by this accusation as she got angrier.
"Excuse me, but I only hang out with people I like! I don't need a large group of friends." She said angrily.
"Fair enough, but how can you tell if you like someone if you don't even try and get to know them first? You thought I was just another jock, but you saw that I know CPR. You actually think you got me figured out when you only see me a few hours out of 5 days a week?" Kwan pointed out.
For once, Sam had no answer for that.
She stood there, unsure how to process the fact that someone she deemed unintelligent is calling out how she acts.
"I'm done with this. I got people I actually want to talk to waiting for me..." Kwan said before walking away, leaving a stunned Manson behind him.
That same goth, who was usually so confident and sure of herself, was left in shock over how Kwan of all people called her out.
An hour later
The group was in the middle of making a collage. One about how Nasty Burger is changing its sauce and how it'll be safer to eat in more ways than one.
"So, this is your bright idea?" Sam asked in her snarky way.
Val rolled her eyes at that.
"And what do you suggest we do?" She asked.
"We could make a replica of a cow so people can stop killing them for food." Sam suggests.
Valerie rolled her eyes as she pulled her head back far as she could.
"First off, cows aren't used to make beef, steer are. Second, this is to celebrate the sauce being healthier." Valerie states in irritation.
The goth girl frowned at her attitude.
"Well, excuse me for wanting to tackle a serious problem!" Saml yelled.
"Sam, this is about a sauce replacement for a local fast food joint. Not the time or place, especially since I work there..." Valerie reminded her.
"Even so, I say that's what we should talk about over some sauce..." She said, being stubborn as usual.
And she wonders why she only has two friends? Valerie thought with an eye roll.
As they argued, Danny shook his head as he and Tucker took steps away from the carnage that would unfold.
"So… while they discuss what we do, how was the trip, dude?" Tucker asks.
Danny rubbed the back of his head. He mentally went over the events and what he should tell them.
"Well… not much outside of coming face to face with evil…" Danny responds.
"Are we talking Dash level evil or Vlad level evil?" Tucker asks.
"Honestly? The kind that makes Vlad look like Dash…" Danny admits.
"Really?" Tucker asks, sounding interested in that more than what Sam and Valerie were doing.
"Long story short...we went to Canada to take care of some supposed ghosts. I tried to make some new...friends...it kinda worked. Sorta. We dealt with flesh eating zombies who were not remotely close to being ghosts, Danielle and I helped seal a cave of them and Emb-"
He stopped himself, realizing what he almost said.
"Em… what?" Tucker asks.
"I'll… tell you later…" Danny said.
"We can't let the man keep exploiting poor innocent bovines like this. We need to fight for their freedom!" Sam argues, getting their attention.
"And get me fired? Not a chance!" Valerie said.
Sam turned her heads towards Danny and Tucker.
"Guys! Back me up here!" She insisted.
Danny shook his head disapprovingly.
"Sam? Remember what happened in Kentucky? Your inability to compromise?" He reminds her.
Sam was about to argue, but recalling how her actions almost cost her friendships, and made her and Danny break up, made her stop.
Upon reflecting, she gave a defeated sigh.
"Fine… I won't like it… but fine…" She said.
Valerie felt a little sense of relief at that, though her curiosity grew.
"So… what actually happened in Kentucky? And what happened while you were out of town?" Valerie asks.
"We'll tell you later…" Danny said, looking at his phone. "I gotta jet now."
"You do? We don't have a patrol tonight and for once we have no major homework." Sam said.
"I just… want a little time alone. Besides, I'll have to check on Danielle, make sure she's having fun." He said.
"Understood. Well, take care, dude." Tucker said.
"Thanks. Let me know when we meet to make the collage or whatever later." Danny said as he took his bag and left.
As Sam and Tucker waved to him, Valerie raised an eyebrow at the two.
"What kind of ghost gave you trouble in Kentucky?" Valerie asks.
"Sorry, but it's not like any member of our team is going to give away-"
"Aliens." Tucker said before Sam could finish, much to her irritation.
"Aliens?" Valerie asks. Once Tucker nodded, she scoffed. "Aliens don't exist…"
With Danielle
She had joined Sophie and Carly at a nearby diner called Marmel's since the Nasty Burger is out of the question for the time being.
They were currently eating and chatting.
"And I survived the big battle royale. My brothers didn't see it coming." Sophie said, talking about her weekend as she held up a fist with a smile.
"No way, for real?" Carly asked, taking notes.
Danielle was nodding along, hoping that she was coming off as friendly.
Sure sure… I fought a literal monster but okay… She thought, hoping that she was doing well in making friends.
"Anyway, long story short, never bring your own condiments to a dinner party." Sophie finished, before directing her attention to Danielle. "What do you think, Danielle?" She asked.
"Huh?" Danielle asked, realizing her attempts to pretend she was listening were turned against her.
"You know, about family dinner at my uncle's? Do you think I'm the selfish one in this?" Sophie asked.
"Oh...uh...well, I think that...well, as long as you had good intentions, then you're not in the wrong..." Danielle answered, smiling nervously and hoping that she didn't sound like a fake right now.
The two girls had friendly smiles and nodded.
"The math checks out." Carly said, taking down more notes before taking a sip of her soda.
"Yeah, I see what she means..." Sophie said with a giggle.
Danielle sent them another nervous smile, hoping that she can pull this off well.
Meanwhile
Danny was on the computer in his room.
He sped up as fast as he could, not sure if he was ready to tell his friends about Nat just yet.
His reasoning was that it was still not long after breaking up with Sam and part of him wanted a relationship that was all his own and with someone who didn't know about his friends at home.
He was in the middle of a video chat with Nat.
"So, how's it feel to be back home?" Nat asked.
"Warmer..." Danny answered.
Nat laughed.
"Well, after all that craziness, still glad I met you." Nat admitted.
"Me too."
"I will admit...I feel bad that I originally hung out with you to get over my ex. That was pretty selfish of me..." Nat said, feeling remorseful.
"It was no more selfish than I was.." Danny admitted.
Nat then smiled and sat up.
"But… I don't think it's wrong to be a little selfish, y'know?" Nat admitted.
"How so?" Danny asks.
"Well, nobody is perfect and no one can expect someone to be 100% selfless. However, it's not always a bad thing since...well, sometimes you should put yourself before others...I mean...as long as doing so doesn't end up with anyone getting hurt that is. Plus, I wouldn't have gotten to know you so well if I hadn't." Nat said.
"That's true…" Danny said.
"All things considered, I did like hanging out with you Danny..." Nat said.
Danny smiled, happy to hear that.
"Likewise..."
They kept chatting for about several more minutes before Danny noticed what time it was. After bidding her bye, Danny decided he would check up on Danielle before dinner.
As he left, someone followed him.
He spotted the diner from her picture.
Phasing through the wall, he peeked at her with the girls, finishing their meal.
That's a relief… He thought.
Danny pulled out and decided he'd head back home.
However, as he was a block away, his ghost sense went off.
"Back to our regularly scheduled ghost butt kicking…" He said, readying himself for battle.
He noticed a blue fire on top of a nearby building and figured that's what was the cause. Flying in that direction, he was stunned to see the ghost had just disappeared.
Raising an eyebrow, he noticed something on the ground. It looked like a postcard. Picking it up, he read what was on it.
Hey, Dipstick! Welcome back! Care to finish what we started up North? Meet me at the roof of Bucky's Mega Music Store. No team, no fighting… promise. He read, thinking of Ember's voice.
Danny raised an eyebrow before his face felt warm. He shook it off.
"This so has to be a trap… but… since what happened… I am finding myself really into her…" He reasoned with himself.
Danny had arrived on the roof of Bucky's. He recalled this was the store where they had their first fight, where she put that love spell on him that made him obsessed with Sam. Now, things were different. Now, it was Ember that he found himself attracted to. "I'm here." He said, looking around "Hey Dipstick..." A familiar voice was heard. Danny turned around to see a smirking Ember McLain. "So, this isn't a trap?" Danny asks. "What took ya so long?" She asked, ignoring his question.
"Not every time someone who tried to pummel me with a guitar asked me to meet them somewhere." Danny responded, feeling awkward.
"Aww… don't worry, I'll be gentle…" Ember said with a mocking coo.
If Danielle, Jazz or Sam ever find out about this, I'll never hear the end of it. Forget what Mom and Dad would do... He thought as the ghostly diva walked up to him and smiled.
"So, ready to talk about us?" She asked.
Danny sighed with a hand to his forehead.
"As ready as I'll ever be..." He said.
"Works for me..." Ember said as she sat down by the sign of the store gestured for him to come join her.
Danny, against his better judgment, did so.
Now, he was seated next to the ghost diva whom he had very complex feelings towards.
Never thought that I'd be in a situation like this… with her… He thought as Ember brought her face closer to his.
"So..." She began.
"So..." Danny repeated, looking awkward.
"Is this the part where we make out or do we really need to have some long, boring talk that would lead to us either leaving or punching each other?" She asked in a snarky way.
Danny frowned.
"I'd rather actually talk and...address the ghostly elephant in the room..." He said.
"If you say so. You first, though..." Ember said, choosing to make things more difficult for him as she still placed her gloved hand on his.
This made the ghost hunting superhero feel his temperature rise.
Life was so much easier when I didn't know she had a thing for me… He thought before gulping.
"Ember I...I've been thinking and… well, since Nat's not into long distance relationships and Sam and I are too awkward to restart a relationship… I think… I might… want to have… something with you. I mean… I admit it, you're hot and… kinda cool, all things considered." Danny said, which pleased the rockstar. "But...we can't let anyone know about this..."He said.
"Aw, wanna have a secret little tryst, is that it? I didn't realize you had a sneaky side, Dipstick..." Ember teased.
"I'm serious. No one can know about this. If my family and friends find out about this, I don't even wanna imagine what they'd do. To me or to you..." He said.
Ember just smirked.
"Willing to lie and keep secrets from your folks, huh? I must say, I didn't think you'd be so selfish..." Ember teased before getting closer to his face. "But hey, I'm game if you are..." She said, winking at him.
"I'm not being selfish...okay, maybe a little, but it's not like this is gonna hurt anyone...Just as long as you don't leave any signs… kiss marks or even bruises..." He said.
"I'll try to pull my punches..." Ember said.
"I would also...appreciate it if you...don't hurt anyone while we're seeing each other..." Danny said.
Ember crossed her arms.
"What's in it for me?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Seriously? Isn't this good enough?" Danny asked as Ember sent him a flat look.
"Hello, self-admitted evil rocker wanting world domination here. I never said I wasn't selfish..." She said flatly.
"Point..." Danny said in a sigh before thinking fast. "If you promise to play nice and not cause too much trouble, we can spend as much time as you want..."He said.
She grinned.
"Deal..." She said, raising her hand from his.
Wow...she accepted that easier than I thought she would… He thought.
Those thoughts were cut off as he soon found himself in the ghostly musician's arms.
She sent him bedroom eyes and grin.
"So... we gonna have a little fun?" Ember asks.
"Yeah. I mean... uh... I guess... this is a date now?" Danny asks.
"Is now..." Ember said flirtatiously as she inched closer.
Feeling his face turn red and his lips break into a smile, Danny darted his eyes away.
"So... I guess... we can catch a movie... or get ice cream or... something..." He said.
"We could..." Ember said with a mischievous grin. "Or..."
She then kissed him before taking advantage of his surprise and pushed him into the floor, never taking her mouth off his.
Danny and Ember were still on the rooftop. They were not fighting, far from it. Instead, they were enjoying each other's company for once.
"Mmm..." Ember was heard moaning.
Danny and Ember were in the middle of making out and on the floor, Ember on top of Danny as she wrapped one leg around his..
Muah!
Danny had to pant a bit to take a breath.
"Don't forget that I need to breathe..." He said, still panting.
Ember smirked mischievously as she grabbed his collar.
"One good thing about ghosts...breathing is no longer an issue..." She said before pulling him back for more.
Danny was frozen up as her tongue tried to dominate him.
This is so wrong… but doesn't feel like it. He thought as he resumed kissing her.
"Good… you're getting into it…" Ember mused as she resumed kissing him.
If anyone told me a year ago that I'd ever be making out with Ember McLain of all things, I would have called them a crazy person. He thought as they kept kissing.
Ember tried to get more aggressive by deepening the kiss and pushing herself into him more. However, Danny pushed her back a bit.
"Woah there, rockstar. That's a little much, don't you think?" He asked, blushing deeply.
Ember pouted until she then decided to tease him a bit.
"Come on, Babypop. It's just us and there's no trouble around..." She said before she exposed her shoulder a bit.
What is she doing? Danny thought as she looked at him with a coquette look.
"Come on, I'm wide open..." Ember said as she gestured to her shoulder that didn't have the strap.
"Wait, what?" Danny asked.
"Did I stutter? Just kiss me there." She ordered.
Danny blushed and gulped.
"Isn't that a little too...intimate? Especially since we only recently stopped wanting to destroy each other..." He said.
"Don't be such a prude. You're a teenager, I'm one too, at least physically, so let's just let our hormones have a free run..." Ember said, smirking at him.
Despite his reservations, Danny decided to give in.
He placed his lips on Ember's shoulder and placed a soft kiss on it.
Ember smirk widened as she sighed lustfully.
"Yeah, now we're talking..." She said as Danny began to kiss her shoulder more.
He felt somewhat perverted but also kinda excited and free as he never went this far with Sam.
Oh, what the heck? I've made it this far, may as well enjoy it... He thought as he decided to let his hands wander and go up and down Ember's back.
Ember felt this and felt a surge of pleasure. She grabbed him by the collar and let out a sigh of lust as she pulled him up.
Danny was now on top of her, still holding her in his arms as she wrapped hers around his neck.
She decided to bring his face to her neck, allowing him to kiss her there.
"Yeah...took you a while, but better late than never, Dipstick… She whispered as he kept sucking on her neck.
However, what she just said made Danny stop.
"What?" Danny asks as he pushes himself up.
Ember frowned.
"Hey, we were finally getting into it. What gives?" Ember questioned, quickly annoyed.
"What did you mean by better late than never?" He asked.
"It took over an hour and a half of kissing before you finally laid a real hand on me. It was finally getting super exciting since Skulker would never have used his hands for anything but punching or holding a weapon..." Ember said as she tried to pull him back for another kiss.
However, what she said startled the ghost boy and caused him to look up.
"It's night?! I've been here for over an hour!" He shouted, getting up and dusting himself.
"Hey!" Ember complained, crossing her arms.
"I have to go..." He said.
"Why? It was finally getting really good!" Ember whined.
The ghost boy, however, was still panicking here.
"My curfew is in 10 minutes, I gotta get home before my parents notice I'm gone and ground me. I don't think telling them I was out with a girl would cut it… especially when said girl tried to take over the world a few times." He said.
Ember sighed bitterly.
"Parents...always have to ruin things..." Ember muttered, miffed that their make out time was cut short here.
To her surprise, he hadn't left yet.
"One last thing…" He said.
Danny used his ice powers and soon created an icy rose. It was a near perfect replica and he offered it to Ember. Ember saw the recreation made of frozen water, which caused her to raise a brow.
"What's this? Showing off your crafting skills?" She asked
Danny laughed.
"Here. I hope that this little token of my affections shows that I am serious about… whatever this is… and I hope to see you again for a real date real soon..." He said, having admitted it honestly.
Ember seemed surprised but also somewhat touched as she took it..
"Thanks, Dips-Danny…" Ember said getting up.
The two shared a smile before Ember kissed him on the cheek.
Danny soon left, flying as fast as he could to avoid missing curfew.
Ember saw him fly away and frowned.
"Geez, why does he always have to be such a goody-two-shoes and listen to his dad and that lady who is too hot for him?" She scoffed, holding onto the ice rose he gave her.
She glanced at it and rolled her eyes..
The bad girl ghost smiled a moment before shaking her head and frowning.
"I have half a mind to start dropping this, just to teach him a lesson of leaving me mid-makeout..." She said as she loosened her grip.
However, she didn't drop the rose at all. Instead, she maintained it just enough to get a good look without dropping it.
She was smiling warmly as she held it and thought of what he did, having truly been touched by the romantic gesture but she didn't want to admit it out loud.
