Barked

Chapter 7: Today has gone to the Dogs

Danny and Star were still searching for Cujo.

They called Sam, Tucker and Jazz to help them out. They were all looking for the little ghost dog, but couldn't find him.

"Any sign of him?..."Danny asked, as he carried Star, while they communicated with the others over the phone.

"He's not by the mall..."Jazz said, on her end.

"He's not by the Nasty Burger..."Sam said, as she passed the fast food joint.

"He's not by the butcher shop..."Tucker said, though it sounded like he was eating something.

"Keep looking, he's gotta be around here someplace..."Star said, sounding worried.

She soon hung up, while her boyfriend continued to carry her as he flew. They kept looking for their canine friend.

"I hope that he's okay..."Star said, worried.

"I hope that we find him before he finds another cat...or some squirrels..."Danny said, earning a nod from his girlfriend.

They continued their search for the little ghost dog, hoping to find him before he got into trouble.

Again.

Meanwhile

Cujo and Fifi were still together.

"So, Fifi? Any place in particular you wanna go first?..."Cujo asked.

Fifi thought about it and paused.

"To be honest, I am not sure. This is the first time that I have gone so far from my home without a human or even my leash. I am not sure where we could go..."She said.

"Well, no worries. I got a few places in mind. If you are up for it, that is..."The male dog said.

"I see. Very well, lead the way..."Fifi said, as she continued to walk with him.

A little later

Cujo and Fifi were still walking and spending time together. The green ghost dog kept trying to impress her and get her attention.

"Having a nice time, Fifi?..."Cujo asked as he looked at her, smiling.

"Oui..."Fifi said, as they continued to walk.

Cujo really wanted her attention and tried to think of ways to get it.

"Come on, Cujo. Think. What would impress a pretty pooch like her?..."The little green dog thought, really wanting her to like him.

They soon approached the end of the street. Cujo then noticed a nearby puddle and smiled.

"Wait, that's it!..."Cujo thought, getting an idea.

He quickly zipped to the splashed in it, while Fifi seemed confused.

"Cujo? What are you doing?..."She asked, wondering what he was up to.

She then saw her male friend then splash in the puddles using his ghost powers

"Hey Fifi, watch this!..."Cujo said as he did ten spins in the air before landing, clearly trying to impress her.

Fifi saw this and gave the dog equivalent of a giggle.

"Oh my, how impressive..."She said, still giggling.

"That's awesome!..."Cujo said cheerfully, while the female poodle looked amused.

"That looks like a lot of fun. It was even fun to watch..."She said, thinking that she'd wanna try that too.

"Great, I'm happy you're having fun..."He said, earning a smile from the pretty poodle.

"A little wild and playful...but he is kind of cute though...and funny...still, maybe I should calm down and downplay my reactions. Best not act to easily impressed..."She thought, as she tried to compose herself.

"Well, I suppose that is interesting and it could be fun to continue..."Fifi said, playing hard to get.

Cujo, still lovesick and not dejected, just sent her a determined look.

"Let's do something else. Something you would be interested in. I'll look around for something else..."He said, as he wanted this unofficial date to continue.

He noticed a nearby flower shop, and saw some sunflowers on display.

"That's perfect!..."He said as he ran and phased inside.

A few minutes later, he arrived with said sunflowers and presented them to Fifi.

"For you, my lady..."Cujo said in a flirty way, and Fifi's eyes widened.

"Flowers for moi?..."She asked, flattered.

"I saw them and thought you'd like them. They're my favorite too..."He said.

"This is so thoughtful, Cujo. Merci. Come, join me..."Fifi said.

"For real?..."Cujo asked, excited.

Fifi nodded.

"Oui..."She said.

Both dogs then ate the sunflowers voraciously and were soon satisfied.

"Mmm...I haven't had sunflowers in a long time. I do not know why but my owners always get angry when I try and eat flowers at home..."Fifi said.

"They don't know what they are missing..."Cujo said, as he ate another petal.

"Agreed. Humans are weird, I gave up trying to understand them a long time ago..."Fifi said, as she ate the rest of hers.

After a few minutes, the two dogs then finished eating the flowers. Cujo was happy that Fifi seemed pleased by the sunflowers that she had just eaten.

She also seemed to be enjoying their entire outing so far too.

"I think the sunflowers were simply delicious. Thank you..."Fifi said.

"You were worth it, my lady..."Cujo said, happy that she liked them.

"So far, so good. I think she likes me...or at least I hope she does. I really can't mess this up, she's one of a kind. I need to make a good impression..."He thought nervously, really wanting her to like him.

He got some more ideas and he tried to use them to impress his pretty new friend.

A little later

Cujo and Fifi kept hanging out and having fun.

Cujo brought Fifi a squeaky toy in the shape of a newspaper, he chew on it, which of course made the little squeaking sound, he was biting from one end of the toy, inviting Fifi to bite from the other end as if telling her "let's have a tug of war", Fifi was curious and complied.

Soon, both dogs were having their own little tug of war with the toy as it squeaked louder and louder the more they bit upon it. Fifi teasingly winked at Cujo, the ghost dog wagged his tail excitedly and while he was distracted, Fifi grabbed the squeaking toy fully into her mouth, claiming victory.

"I win!..."She said playfully.

Instead of being made by the trickery, Cujo simply barked excitedly as if saying he was impressed by Fifi's quick thinking.

Fifi was amused by her companion's lively attitude. They continued their outing and Cujo kept tying to please her and make sure that she is having a good time with him.

"This is fun. He is odd but he can be pretty bold...and unpredictable. I like it..."She thought, smiling as they continued to spend time together.

Later

Cujo and Fifi were still walking and spending time together. The green ghost dog kept trying to make small barks and get to know her..

"I don't think I said this yet, but you sure do smell nice..." Cujo said as he sniffed at her.

"I suppose I do ..." Fifi said, as they continued to walk. "However, I much rather when I smell like myself and no have all the smelly stuff my owners put on me everyday..."She said.

"Oh... I still think you would smell nice no matter what..."Cujo complimented.

"Maybe one day, we'll both find out if that's true..."Fifi said with a giggle.

The two continued their walk and Cujo really wanted her attention. He tried to think of ways to get it.

"Come on, Cujo. Think. There has to be something we can both relate to..." The little green dog thought, really wanting her to like him.

After so much walking in silence, the ghost dog wad starting to become nervous. That is until he noticed a nearby tree and smiled.

"Wait, that's it!..."Cujo thought, getting an idea.

He quickly zipped to the tree, while Fifi seemed confused.

"Cujo?..."She asked, wondering what he was up to.

She then saw her male friend as he grew in size and lowered his head to her level.

"Come with me, my lady..." Cujo said, trying to impress her.

Fifi saw this and gave the dog equivalent of a giggle.

"Oh my. Such a gentle dog..." She said, not wanting to admit that she was enjoying his attention.

"Well, I try to be..." Cujo said, wanting to be smooth around her.

Fifi giggled at this.

"A little odd but he is kind of cute though...and funny...still, maybe I should see where this goes..." She thought.

"Well, I suppose that it wouldn't be ladylike of me to refuse your invitation ..." Fifi said, playing hard to get.

Cujo, still lovesick and not dejected, just sent her a determined look.

"Come with me..." He said, as Fifi was safely on his head and they flew to a branch on the tree.

Fifi quickly set foot on the branch, Cujo became small again and sat next to her as they look up at the view from the tree. She was impressed as she saw the view, she very rarely got to see that due mostly being inside to avoid her fur getting dirty when she's not at her lessons or on her daily walk.

Still, this fascinated her and she didn't really care about those lessons. This made her happy and she smiled tenderly at him.

"That's so fun, Cujo..."She said.

"Yes, Fifi. Let's have some more fun and excitement..."Cujo said, ready for more excitement.

Fifi giggled, feeling fond of him but she was also cautious too.

"Hmmm...well, he is nice but I'm still not sure if I can fully trust him yet. Maybe I should evaluate him somehow..."She thought, deciding to test him a bit.

"So?..."She asked.

"Yes? Any ideas?..."Cujo asked, eager to please her.

"Let's race?..."She offered, and Cujo seemed excited.

"Sure, that's sounds really fun. To where?..."He asked.

Fifi looked around and soon spotted something.

"To that big tree at the end of this block..."She said.

"Sounds great..."Cujo said, as he and Fifi started running.

However, due to his powers, Cujo basically zipped to the tree in less than a few seconds. Fifi stopped, processing this as she already knew he was an unusual dog but he still seemed to keep surprising her.

"Huh? He should have participated in the Dog races? He'd win easily..."She thought as she wasn't sure what to do now.

However, Cujo zipped back.

"Is everything alright? I saw that you stopped running..."He asked, concerned.

Fifi blinked, and realized that even though he won their race, he was not bragging or even making a big deal about it. He seemed more concern about her than the fact that he won.

"Oh...uh...sorry.. I got...a little...distracted..."She said sheepishly.

"You sure that you are okay?..."Cujo asked.

Fifi realized that Cujo really didn't care about winning. He just wanted to play and have fun. After spending a life time among competitive show dogs who all wanted to win trophies and ribbons to show off, this attitude was refreshing.

"Yes, I'm okay..."She said, not wanting to let him know she got lost in her thoughts. " Thank you for your concern but I am ready now..."She said.

"Well, come on. We still have a race..."He said, wanting to race her.

"Alright. I am ready..."Fifi said, ready.

"Awesome. Last one to that tree has to get a flea dip bath..."Cujo said, as he started running again, this time at a slower pace to be closer to Fifi.

"Oh, it's on now!..."Fifi said, as she ran and found herself enjoying this.

He went to run a little faster but not by a lot and Fifi felt her tail wag a little bit as she smiled and raced after him, having fun as they did so.

A little later

The two dogs continued to afternoon with each other, enjoying it.

"I will say, Cujo is different then the other dogs whom I have come across. He's not arrogant or views others with contempt. Such a pleasant change from other dogs, I'm forced to come across..."She thought.

He wasn't like the other male dogs whom she met at dog shows who acted all snobby or tried to offer to breed with her. He hasn't even brought up breeding yet...in fact, he seems really interested in getting to know her and wanting to make her happy.

Even if he had a goofy way of showing it, it was quite nice to get attention like this and she loved it because it was genuine.

Cujo and Fifi stopped to leaned on each other, both feeling at ease with each other. They look at the sky, and enjoyed looking at it.

"Great view..."Cujo said.

"Yes, indeed..."Fifi said, as they continue to look at the sky.

The two dogs turned their attention to each other. They looked at each other on the eyes and they soon became hearts for a moment.

"Fifi..."Cujo said, feeling his heart skip a beat.

"Cujo..."Fifi said, smiling and feeling similar things right now.

Anything else they'd say was interrupted by another sound from inside them. Fifi's stomach began to rumble a bit, as did Cujo's. The two felt hungry right now.

"Ah, I know that sound. Let's go get some grub..."Cujo said.

"Grub?..."Fifi asked, confused by that term.

"I mean food. Come on. I know this great place where my floating human friend and his mate go to all the time. I'm sure you'll love it..."Cujo said.

"Really? It's that nice?..."She asked.

"Sure is. All the humans there are real nice to me too. Once they see me, they drop their food and leave it all for me..."Cujo said.

"Really?..."Fifi asked, surprised to hear that.

"Yup. And they even give me some privacy while I eat. Though to be honest, I'd prefer having some company while I eat, but humans don't speak dog well. Oh well, it's the thought that counts, right..."Cujo said.

"I suppose so..."Fifi said, sounding unsure.

"So, wanna go? They have these yummy pieces of grilled beef that tastes really good..."Cujo said, with an eager look on his face.

Fifi thought about it and nodded.

"Sure, I could eat anything at this point..."She admitted.

"Sweet, come on..."Cujo said, as he started running and Fifi followed him.

The two dogs soon left to go enjoy the rest of their day together, unaware that someone was still looking for Cujo.

However, it wasn't JUST Team Phantom.

Later

Fifi and Cujo soon arrived to the Nasty Burger. Or rather, the back of the Nasty Burger where the dumpster is in.

Third Degrees Irving, the manager, was in a bad mood as he carried a bag full of trash that was left over from today's lunch rush.

"I can't believe this. I'm the manager and those part timers don't even bother taking out the trash unless I yell at them too. Not to mention Gray is taking the day off and Paige and Jason won't do extra work for minimum wage. And they wonder why they never get "Employee of the month"..."Irving muttered as he dumped the large bag of spoiled/cold food that they couldn't sell due to FDA reasons.

He went back inside the fast food joint, unaware that two little dogs had arrived to the alley. Cujo sniffed and could smell all the fresh garbage/food from the dumpster and his tail wagged at excitement.

"Alright! This is one of the best times to grab a bite to eat here! The food is still warm and juicy!..."Cujo said.

Fifi seemed curious.

"I have never been to a restaurant like this before...we usually eat inside and I have to be on my best behavior. Which means sitting still and no barking..."She commented.

"Really? Why?..."Cujo asked.

"Honestly, I don't know why but I never did like it. It's always so boring..."Fifi said, as she never like those stuffy places that had so many rules and humans who would scold you if you don't follow them.

"Well, hopefully you'll like this..."Cujo said, as his paw touched the dumpster.

He made it intangible and soon all the garbage and food fell on top of him. Fifi was shocked.

"Oh my..."She said, but didn't see her friend.

"Cujo? Are you alright?..."Fifi asked.

Cujo dug his way out of the garbage pile, buns and burgers on his head and smiled.

"I'm okay..."He said cheerfully.

Fifi saw him like that and couldn't resist laughing.

"What is it?..."Cujo asked.

"It...it's just...You got a little something... all over you!..." Fifi laughed, finding this amusing.

Cujo noticed the food on his head and shook it off, he then ate it in one bite.

"Tasty..."He said, before turning to his female friend.

"Come on...there's plenty to eat..."He offered.

"Are you sure that this is alright?..."She asked.

"Oh course it is, humans leads all sorts of food and neat trash in these big metal square bowls for us dogs. However, some pesky cats have the nerve to try and eat here, as if the food is for them..."Cujo said, sounding annoyed as he said this.

"Is that so? How rude..."Fifi said.

"Yeah, tell me about it..."Cujo said, before he found a large half eaten burger, as well as chicken nuggets and other leftover meat-related food that he dug out of the pile.

The ghost dog gathered them to a pile in from of Fifi and smiled at her.

"Lunch is served..."He said in a gallant voice.

"I have never seen or even smelled food like this before. I don't even think my owners have eaten stuff like this. Oh well, as they say in America...bottoms up..."Fifi said, before taking a bite.

Her eyes shot up as she enjoyed the meat and ate it much more enthusiastically.

"It's delicious..."She said happily.

"I knew'd you'd like it. Well, dig in. There's plenty to go around..."Cujo said, as he and his friend kept eating the still warm discarded food.

As Cujo and Fifi kept eating, their mouths reached a same spot of food, accidentally leading to a kiss.

"Sorry..."Cujo said.

"It's okay..."Fifi said, as she kept eating.

Cujo kept sending her dreamy looks as she ate.

"She sure is nice..."He though, feeling his little heart flutter right now.

Cujo noticed a bun. He wanted to eat it but noticed Fifi and got an idea. He decided to offer it to her.

"Ladies first..."Cujo said as he nudged the bun to her.

Fifi seemed pleased by this.

"Aw, how gallant. Merci, Cujo..."Fifi said, before eating it.

She smiled and was happy.

"It is really good..."She said, looking happy right now.

"Enjoy..."Cujo said, before eating another half eaten burger.

The pampered poodle stared at him and smiled.

"He might be a little rough around the edges...but he is a good boy. Good indeed..."She thought, enjoying having him around.

Cujo then noticed something nearby, he noticed a sunset.

"Fifi, look..."He said, as he pointed to the view of the sun beginning to set.

"This is... beautiful..." Fifi said.

"It's not the only thing..." Cujo thought still with a puppy love mentality as he saw Fifi, who noticed he was watching her.

Cujo quickly pretended to look up at, Fifi smirked amused.

Beautiful..."Cujo said, but was clearly still smitten by her.

Fifi noticed his stare and felt flattered by it.

"Hmmm...well, I wonder?..." She thought, deciding to test him a bit.

"Cujo?..."She asked.

"Yes, my lady?..." Cujo said, eager to please her.

"I'm happy that you invited me out like this..."She said, meaning it.

"Any time..."Cujo said, smiling at her in a lovesick manner.

Hearts were in their eyes for a moment, as Cujo felt his heart beat faster and Fifi found herself more at each with her male companion.

The two dogs continued to eat in the privacy of the back of the Nasty Burger, enjoying each other's company and the rest of their evening.

Elsewhere

Unknown to the two pooches, two men had just arrived to Amity Park.

"I can't believe that we both had to use our sick days just to come here!..."Agent K muttered, annoyed.

"Hey, they took away our vacation and personal days and everything else they could think of. At least they are required by law to give us a sick day every once in a while. Thank God. Besides, I don't know about you but all those cleaning fumes really were making me sick..."Agent O muttered bitterly.

"Let's just find that ghost dog and then Phantom. After that, we can finally get our lives back on track..."K said, sounding determined.

O nodded and the two men began to look around, but their current attire and equipment made them feel out of place.

"Remind me again...why we can't use our suits again and why we are dressed like some punks?..."O asked, since they were currently wearing non-white leather, bandanas and different kind of sun glasses.

To him, these outfits felt like a downgrade compared to their old white suits.

"We can't have Agent Alpha finding out we faked being sick, even if it's just to hunt ghosts. You know he's too bull-headed to listen to reason and would force us to stay dressed like that..."K reminded.

"Yeah, but he's all the way at headquarters this week..."His partner pointed out.

"Still, we mustn't be recognized..." K reminded his partner. "Especially by somebody who'd report us to Agent Alpha. Some agents NOT on sick leave might be looking for Phantom and his dog as well and we can't let them know we're spending our "sick" days anywhere but home..."He pointed out.

His partner nodded, understanding that. Still, he had more complaints to made.

"I just wished that we had our old gadgets with us, but we're stuck using the obsolete/damaged ones that the boss wanted to throw away..."O complained.

"I hate this too, but according to the boss only "REAL AGENTS" get to use the top of the line weapons..."K muttered, angry that they lost their status and perks.

"At least we were able to fix these stupid things..."O muttered, as he gestured to the old, beat up looking blaster in his hand.

"Let's just get this over with. Once this is over, we can go back to wearing those sweet white suits, nice shades and and all the cool top of the line weapons like we're suppose to..."He said, while his partner nodded.

The two rogue agents soon went off to find the ghosts, determined to find them in hopes of capturing them and getting what they THINK they deserve.

Oh boy.

A/N(2): Special thanks to Jay The Average Fanboy, Invader Johnny and Luiz4200 for all their help. You guys rock :)

REPLIES to my loyal and totally awesome reviewer:

Invader Johnny: Yeah.

RonaldM40196867:

1) Right.

2) I wanted to add use them again in my fics.

CZS4: Yeah.

Jebest4781: Thank you :)

Danifan3000:

1) That will be explained later on.

2) I see your point.

Luiz4200: I guess that we will have to wait and see what happens.

JDF Legacier Morphicon: Thank you :)

Here are my responses to your questions:

1) Honestly, I think Jazz would still hold a grudge against her for what happened in her and Johnny's first appearance.

2) I think it be neat if Danny and Tucker would fight ghosts as two halfa's.

3) Sorry, no spoilers. I guess that we will have to wait and see what happens.

4) I think Pandora, since she would probably train Sam as a warrior and probably wouldn't try to force her into frilly dresses.

5) Honestly, I don't see it.

Guest:

1) I'll consider it. Thanks for the suggestion.

2) More halfa's would probably be interesting.

3) Honestly, I think Jack forgot due to the situation they were dealing with at the time.

4) Honestly, their views on ghosts are biased to say the least.

5) I'd say it be a tie between Undergrowth and Vortex.

6) I'd think Skulker was an adult, and Ember was 16 when she died in the house fire.

7) Seeing Danny's ancestors would have been cool.

8) I think Maurice is an office work and Angela is a house wife.

9) He did mention having a sister once.

10) I think it would have been neat if he gained healing powers like Katara from The Last Airbender.

:) I hope you enjoyed this! Remember to read and review :)
