Chapter 11: Chaos at the Country Club

Danny and Star soon arrived to the Platinum room's entrance.

"So...do we just walk in or should we do this Phantom style?..."Danny asked.

"The Platinum room is really exclusive and even if my Mom is a guild member, we'd need her approval to get in. We should probably just go in invisible..."Star said, not wanting to deal with any unnecessary drama right now.

Danny nodded.

"Okay..."He said, as he held her hand.

He was about to turn them invisible to sneak in, but someone spotted them.

It was Eleanor, who had just arrived to the club and saw them.

"Danny, Star. Hello there, nice to see you..."The head of the country club said, smiling.

"Oh man, it's Eleanor..."Danny whispered.

"Just play it cool..."Star whispered, before smiling at her mother's friend.

"Hi Eleanor..."Star said, smiling innocently.

"Hi..."Danny said, trying to act normal.

"Fancy running into you two here, how are my favorite young lovebirds?..."Eleanor asked in playful manner.

"We're doing okay..."Star answered, trying to move along the conversation.

"That's nice..."Eleanor said, before noticing the Platinum room.

Having an idea of why Danny and Star were there, she still wanted to ask.

"Speaking of which, what brings you two here?..."Eleanor asked, finger at her chin.

"Oh...uh...we were gonna grab a bite...but I remembered that the Platinum room is exclusive. We'll just leave and just go to the Nasty Burger instead..."Star said, but Eleanor waved it off.

"Oh, don't be ridiculous. You two are more than welcome to eat here at my club. Come with me and I'll even treat you lovebirds by ordering some lunch..."Eleanor said, as she ordered her employees to allow them entrance.

Danny and Star both blinked.

"Uh, you don't have to do that Eleanor..."Danny tried.

"Oh, it's no trouble. After all, you and your family have helped protect my club and had helped out with the security. It's the least that I can do..."Eleanor said, making it clear that she won't take no for an answer.

Danny sighed, knowing that this is happening.

They were lead inside the Platinum room, and Eleanor had a table prepared for them.

"At least we're in now..."Star whispered.

"Yeah, but we need some way to excuse ourselves from her without looking suspicious and even find a place for us to change without being spotted by this club's security cameras too..."Danny said, seeing as they need to be both on guard and extra stealthy.

Still, the offer of being treated to a fancy meal in this country club was very tempting to the young heroic couple. However, they had work to do and a dog to find.

Otherwise, the club wouldn't be standing for long.

"Here you two are, we've recently added milkshakes to the club's menu. Enjoy them while you make your orders..."Eleanor said, as one of her servers brought some milkshakes.

"Thanks..."Danny said.

"Yeah. Thank you Eleanor..."Star said, as she took one to be polite.

The two began to sip, and tried to think of ways to excuse themselves from Eleanor's company without coming off as rude or arousing suspicion.

"I hope that the others are having better luck in finding Cujo at least..."Danny thought, taking a sip of the offered milkshake.

Elsewhere

Jazz was checking the country club's Tennis court, in hopes of finding Cujo.

"He's not here. I thought for sure he'd want to go where there are a lot of Tennis balls..."She said, as she was about to leave.

"Hello, there Beautiful. Care to play a match with me?..."A fancy looking boy in a Tennis outfit said, trying to hit on her.

Jazz frowned, not impressed.

"No thanks..."She said, as she marched away.

The rich guy heard this and frowned.

"Hmpt! How rude..."He said, insulted. "Oh whatever, she wasn't that cute anyway..."He muttered, arms crossed.

"Warren, what are you waiting for? Don't forget that the loser has to pay for lunch today..."His friend's voice was heard, and the rich kid went to go play their game.

With Sam

The goth girl was exploring the country club's hallways, in hopes of looking for the ghostly pooch.

"Okay, Cujo should be around here someplace..."She said, as she explored the halls.

Some of the club's members noticed her...or rather her state of dress.

Two rich girls who seemed to be just a couple of years older than her saw her and sent her a critical look.

"Ugh...why are you dressed like that?..."One of the girls, the more bold one, decided to ask her directly.

Sam frowned.

"What do you mean?..."She asked, annoyed.

"That, like you're going to a funeral..."She said in a snooty voice.

"Why are you dressed like someone died?..."She asked arrogantly.

Sam frowned harder at that, already hating her.

"Wait..."She said in a low voice, creeping the girl out even more.

"Jessica, come along now..."Someone, presumably her mother, called out to her.

"Whatever..."The girl, Jessica, scoffed before leaving.

Sam rolled her eyes.

"And I am once again reminded why I didn't like coming to this club in the first place..."The goth girl thought, irritated.

However, she didn't have time to focus on snobs. She had to find a certain little ghost dog before Murphy's law kicks in.

"Okay...Cujo first, then complain about snobs who are only marginally less annoying than Paulina and Colette..."Sam thought, before she continued searching.

With Tucker

The techno geek had just passed the kitchen, the snack bar and even a small in-club cafe for a drink.

No sign of Cujo.

"Huh...you'd think the first place he'd be is where the food is..."Tucker said, taking a bite of a sandwich that he bought here.

The techno geek was walking, but notice some cute looking girls up ahead. He grinned for a moment, before shaking his head.

"Dude, remember...Valerie..."He mentally reminded himself, snapping out of it.

He then went back to searching for the ghost dog, as he continued to eat. Not wanting to get distracted like that again.

Back with Danny

Since Eleanor insisted on treating them, Star and Danny both ordered something small and cheap from the menu, to speed things up.

"Thank you again for the meal, Eleanor..."Star said politely.

"Yeah, it was great..."Danny said.

"Anytime..."Eleanor said, while the couple tried to come up with an excuse to leave now.

However, Eleanor suddenly got a phone call and frowned before hanging up.

"Oh, dear. I'm needed in my office. I best go now. You two children enjoy yourselves and remember, you're meal is covered by me today..."Eleanor said.

"Oh...uh...okay..."Star said, happy for the lucky break.

Once Eleanor left, the couple let out a sigh.

"She's a nice lady, but she can be pretty insistent sometimes..."Star said.

"Let's just try to find Fifi and see if Cujo is with her..."Danny said, and his girlfriend nodded.

Now, they were currently busy trying to quietly sneak around the Platinum Room. Easier said than done, as they had no idea how to do that with so many people.

"Looks like I might have to do this Phantom style after all..."Danny said, trying to find a place to hide and use his powers.

However, they were rather close to the table where Star's mother and Jean Luc was having their meeting with their rich friends. And someone saw them.

Pierre, who was playing with his tiger cub toy, saw someone up ahead and giggled.

"Danny! Star!..."Pierre called out, hands out and trying to reach out to his two other favorite people in the whole world, besides his mother of course.

Stella blinked.

"Danny? Star?..."She asked, having soon saw the direction where her son was looking at.

She then saw her daughter with her boyfriend and was surprised, but smiled.

"Star? Danny?..."Stella asked, while Jean-Luc frowned.

"Why did she bring that boy here?..."Jean-Luc complained under his breath, but his wife ignored that.

Stella got up, excused herself before she walks towards the teens with her baby boy in her arms.

"Star! Danny!..."Stella called out, getting the attention of the two teenagers.

"My mom saw us..."Star muttered.

"Just play it cool..."Danny said, as the rich lady approached them.

"Hello there, you two. Didn't think you'd be here..."Stella said, happy to see them.

"Hi, Mom. Hi Pierre..."Star greeted.

"Hi. Stella. Hi Pierre..."Danny said while the baby boy giggled.

"Star! Danny!..." Pierre said, very happy to see them.

"So, what brings you two here?..."Stella asked, though she could already guess it.

"Oh, just...stopped by to grab a bite..."Star said.

"Well, I wish you'd let me know. Come here, join us. There is more than enough space..."Stella said, gesturing to her table.

"Uh...thanks Mom...But...Danny and I rather be...alone...ya know..."Star said, giving a forced smile.

"Oh, I see. Alone time, right..."Stella said, assuming they wanted a romantic moment.

"Mom..."Star said, slightly embarrassed.

"I'm kidding... mostly..."Her mother said with a sly smile.

"Uh, so...where is Fifi?..."Danny asked, not seeing her.

"Oh, she is on her date with Lord Winthrop. Jean Luc said that they should have some privacy to get to know each other..."Stella said.

"I can't sense any ghosts yet...which means Cujo isn't here yet..."He whispered to Star, but Stella didn't hear any of that.

"Anyway, I don't want to take any of you two love birds time...so enjoy yourselves...as long as it remains PG..."Stella teased a bit.

"Mom!..."Star complained, blushing slightly.

"Oh, don't act like that Star. Everyone knows what goes on when two teens are alone together..."Stella said in a teasing manner.

The blonde girl sighed in frustration.

"I almost wish we didn't come here..."She thought, waiting for the awkward moment to pass and then resume searching.

Stella soon went back to her table, taking Pierre with her and leaving the couple alone.

"That was close..."Danny said.

"I'll say. I'll never live it down. I swear she does this to intentionally mortify me..."Star said, still recovering from the embarrassment she just had.

"We can worry about that later. Come on, Cujo isn't here but he could be anywhere..."Danny said.

Star nodded silently.

The two lovebirds then looked for the ghost dog, hoping to find him before something provokes him into growing.

Elsewhere

Cujo had already phased inside the club and is on the look out for Fifi. So far, no one noticed him.

It was really impressive how stealthy the green ghost dog can be when he needs to be. Now, he had to put all his trust into his nose as he tried to follow her scent.

Cujo could just feel that he's getting closer to her.

"Her smell...it's getting stronger...that means she's close. Wow, she smells so good!..."Cujo thought, somewhat in a daydreaming way before he continued.

He got a bit impatient in wanting to reunite with Fifi. So whenever his nose told him that he was closing the gap between him and Fifi, he would take a shortcut by phasing through a couple walls and solid objects.

However, the scent for stronger and he soon spotted Fifi in the Platinum room. His little doggy heart skipped a beat and his tail wagged the moment he laid eyes on her.

"There she is!..."He said, overjoyed to have found her.

He saw Fifi sneak away from something and he was just too happy to see that she's safe and sound.

"What an overly pampered creep, my ears could use a wash to clean out his voice!..."Fifi said, happy to get away from Lord Winthrop.

However, she was still upset over having wasted so much time having to listen to all of his nonsense.

"I don't know how much more I could take of him talking about himself and how his fur gets puffy in unfavorable humidity or how fancy the shampoo he uses is. Who cares?!..."Fifi said, needing something or anything to take her mind off of her unwanted dinner guest.

It was then that wonderful surprise had soon made himself known to her. The dog she wanted to see, and who wanted to see her too.

Cujo head over to Fifi's side, but made sure phased down to the floor to be just below her to make his appearance a great surprise for her.

"Hey Beautiful, miss me?..."Cujo asked, as he phased his head up at the direction that female poodle was staring at.

Fifi gasped in relief, looking overjoyed to see him.

"Cujo, it's you!..."She said, sounding happy.

Once Cujo phased his whole body out of the floor and stood at eye level with Fifi, the two doggie lovebirds stared into each other's eyes with longing and matching tail-wagging.

"I couldn't just let you leave me with such a disappointed look on your pretty face..."Cujo said happily, wagging his tail.

"Well, I'm just glad that you made the effort of coming all this way just to find me. I really needed it..."Fifi said, happy to see a friendly face in this stuffy place.

However, Lord Winthrop saw them and made his way to her direction. He was upset and insulted by her actions.

"Fifi, I do believe that it is rude to walk away a blue ribbon poodle, especially a poodle of my caliber!..."Lord Winthrop said in an angry and arrogant way.

Fifi glared at him, irritated by his presence yet again.

"Leave me alone, Windbag!..."She said, not wanting to see the snot dog.

"Never! And it's Winthrop!..."Lord Winthrop said, glaring at her.

"I think what I said is more appropriate..."She muttered under her breath.

"How rude, I see that the obedience school you attend clearly isn't of good quality! We will have to fix that soon!..."Winthrop said, angering Fifi even more.

The female poodle was about to lose it and bared her teeth at the arrogant pooch.

"Do you even comprehend the word NO?..."She said, as she kept her distance from the annoying pampered dog.

"Of course I do. I use that word all the time on other dogs of lower caliber, but obviously I've never been told no before..."Lord Winthrop said.

"Then this is your first time. No..."Fifi said, while the male poodle growled at her.

"How dare you speak to me that way?! Now come with me to return to our meal, and start acting like a proper lady!..."Winthrop yelled.

"No way, I don't want to sit and listen to all your boring stories about yourself..."Fifi said.

"I don't care about what you want! As the father of your future pups, I demand you come back! And my stories are not boring!..."The male poodle yelled as he couldn't read the room.

Cujo blocked him of his sight of Fifi.

"Hey, she said that she doesn't want to go with you!..."Cujo said.

The snooty male poodle briefly gazed at the other dog that spoke to him and was shocked at what was looking at.

"Excuse me, but who or what is this creature supposed to be?..."Lord Winthrop said, looking a bit disgusted at seeing the green ghost dog.

"He is not a creature. His name is Cujo and he's 100 times the dog you'll ever be and much better company too..."Fifi said, glaring at the snooty dog.

Winthrop looked insulted by that and kept growling at them.

"Excuse me? How dare you compare me to this mongrel?..."He shouted.

"Who you calling a mongrel, jerk?!..."Cujo said, getting irritated but didn't want to morph yet due to Fifi being too close.

Winthrop, unaware of the difference of strength between them, continued to look down and threaten the smaller looking dog.

"This establishment doesn't allow strays to step foot here with such filthy looking paws. Be gone, you mutt! I am leagues above you in class and breeding, you freakish looking stray!..."Lord Winthrop said, trying to intimidate the smaller looking dog.

Cujo got annoyed and wanted to growl, but was interrupted when Fifi defended him.

"Don't talk to him like that!..."Fifi said, almost snarling at the petty male poodle.

"And why shouldn't I? Also, you are still not worthy enough. You barely meet the minimum standard of choosing an outfit to be seen in public. The last, is simply how you should behave and present yourself to others, especially around me of course. And certainly not with gutter trash like this one..."Winthrop said, as he compares himself to Cujo.

Cujo kept glaring at him, already hating this guy.

"I am sick of you. Now leave us alone!..."Cujo snapped, as he kept barking at him in Fifi's defense.

"Never, now back away from my appointed mate and show yourself out!..."Lord Winthrop said, barking angrily while Fifi became even more enraged.

"Stop! I want nothing to do with you, so just leave!..."Fifi said, afraid the barking would get humans' attention.

Too late. The barking got attention from their owners and they were shocked that the dogs were not where they were before.

"Fifi..."Stella said in concern as the other couple saw saw Cujo with their dogs and got angry.

"Get that little green mongrel away from our Winthrop!..."Lady Clarice said in an overprotective manner.

"Uh... why is it green?..." She asked, slightly puzzled.

Jean Luc saw him and got angry.

"You again?!..."Jean-Luc exclaimed.

"Not him again!..."Fifi said in distress, as her owner's mean husband kept berating her friend.

"Shoo! Go away, you filthy, flea bitten mongrel, away with you! Shoo!..."He said as he grabbed a nearby newspaper to roll up and proceed to hit him with it.

Not wise, as Cujo began to growl at the snooty man and could smell his ill-intention, which resulted in the green ghost dog's eyes glowing red.

"Alright, this human is really getting on my last nerves! And so that this jerk dog who isn't good enough for Fifi!..."He thought with a snarl, his anger growing more and more.

With Team Phantom

Danny and the others met up with the others.

"Did you find him?..."Danny asked.

"He wasn't at the tennis court or the pool..."Jazz said.

"He wasn't by the bathrooms or the ball room..."Sam said, still ticked about who she ran into.

"He wasn't by the kitchen or that small cafe..."Tucker said.

Danny and Star frowned at that. Before they could try and think of their next move, they heard barking.

"Do I hear barking?..."Jazz asked, and the teens silenced.

"That sounds like Fifi..."Star said, and also heard another dog barking too.

That is when Danny's ghost sense went off, and they all knew what that meant.

"Oh man...Cujo!..."Danny said, as they all ran to the source of the barking.

Back with Cujo

Both Winthrop and Jean-Luc had been mistreating Cujo, unaware of the big mistake they had just made.

"Grrr!..."Cujo growled, eyes glowing brighter red.

He morphed into his bigger, stronger self and glared at the now pale, frightened man and poodle.

"GGGRRHHHRRRHRRHH!..."Cujo snarled at them, his large fangs baring at them.

Jean-Luc and Lord Winthrop dropped their bravado, and paled once they saw what just happened.

The Barrington-Uphams screamed in horror and practically fainted on the spot, while Winthrop was frozen in place.

"OH MY GOSH!..."Stella screamed, while Pierre looked confused.

Cujo, on the other hand, began to bare his fangs at the jerks who acted so horribly right now.

"LEAVE FIFI ALONE!..."Cujo barked angrily, slobber came flying out.

Some of it landed on Jean-Luc, not that he noticed yet.

Winthrop, meanwhile, shuddered and even peed himself in place as his fear made him unaware of the yellow he just made that was also staining his so-called flawless fur.

"Monster!..." Winthrop went, still oblivious to his own pee.

He wasn't the only one with the same reaction.

"Monster!..." Jean-Luc went, not seeing the stain on his pants.

It wasn't drool from the giant green ghost dog either.

The Barrington-uphams regained consciousness, but saw Cujo's monstrous form and screamed.

"AHHHHH!..."They both screamed, as they ran for the hills with their tails between their legs.

"Not again! We gotta get Pierre to safety!..."Stella screamed, holding her son in a protective manner.

All of them ran for it, while Lord Winthrop shook him place, completely terrified before he snapped.

"MAMA!..."He screamed as he ran away, hiding under a table in a cowardly manner.

Fifi saw this and saw how Cujo scared both Jean-Luc and that mean poodle away. She smiled, looking relieved to not have to deal with them now.

"Finally...it's over. They are gone, relief..."She said as she watched the dog she liked continue to protect her.

Her heart skipped a beat.

She saw how Cujo stood up for her against Winthrop, seeing how that snob cowered and run was cathartic to her...and it was all thanks to her friend.

"What a dog!~..."She said, admiring Cujo even more.

But it wasn't over, as his is reaction caught the attention of others.

Meanwhile

Danny, Star and the others heard the chaos, and gasped when they saw the source of it.

"Oh no, we're too late!..."Danny said as he saw Cujo in his berserker mode.

Everything at the country were not under the best of circumstances, Cujo in his quest to find Fifi has unintentionally created a chaotic scene when he morphed, which of course meant Team Phantom had to try to defuse the situation before it got from bad to worse.

"We gotta stop him!..."Star went, and the others nodded.

However, that might be easier than done as the ones who came for Cujo have become aware just where exactly he is.

Oh man.
