Chapter 71 – The Ashes and Dust
Many years earlier.
"Hey, you up?" A female voice spoke to an unconscious woman, "Hello?" she asked again.
"Come on," Another woman spoke in a more serious tone, "Cinder awake." Slowly, the fall Slifer Red opened her eyes as she started to sit up. She is inside a Duel Academy classroom with the caster Ra Yellow and militarist Obelisk Blue, "Finally, what's been going on?" Winter asked.
"Have you been getting enough sleep?" Glynda inquired, "Classes getting to you."
"No, sorry." Cinder said as she rubbed her forehead, "It's…something else." She turned to the others, who looked at her in worry, "Have you been hearing odd sounds since getting here?"
"Like at night in the halls?" Glynda asked.
"No, outside," Cinder added.
"Hm, I don't believe." Glynda responded, "But if you do hear anyone, let me know to take care of it."
"What do you plan to do, duel whoever or whatever it is?" Winter asked with a smirk as Glynda pouted, but both saw Cinder still look off in distress, "Hey, if you are worried about something, just let us know."
"Yeah, you can count on us." Glynda added with a smile, "After all, the three of us are supposed to be the strongest duelists in the first wave of students at Duel Academy."
"Right," Cinder spoke with a small smile before standing up, "I'm just gonna go for a walk to get some fresh air." She said while walking out of the classroom, Winter and Glynda turned to each other in slight worry.
In the woods of Duel Academy, Cinder wondered, "Tsk," she gritted her teeth, "They act like we're all equals, but I know they think they're better than me." She said before holding the collar of her uniform, "In Slifer Red, they don't care if you're the best of the worst grade level. It's a joke, and I refuse to be laughed at by the likes of them!" Cinder screeched before another sound was heard. Suddenly, she held her head with both hands. In her mind, a voice spoke to her in a language she could not understand, "Not again! Make it stop, make it stop, make it stop!" She said with her eyes closed before screaming, "MAKE IT STOP!"
Do not reject their voice.
"Huh?" Cinder spoke as her eyes opened, looking over the area, "Who said that?" She searched, but no one was there. However, the fall Slifer Red noticed a brick well nearby. In walking over, she looked down the dark pit, "What is this doing out here." Cinder said before recalling, "Wait, Glynda mentioned a well that students tossed their worst cards down."
Climb down.
The voice spoke again. Cinder remained hesitant, knowing she could just walk away from this. However, for her to get answers, she descended the well, gripping the uneven brick on her way. Upon reaching the bottom, she took out her flip phone, shining the light to reveal the cards. She picked up a ritual monster, reading its name, "Relinquished?" In speaking its name, the darkness around her becomes intense. Her light cast over nothing as she felt as though she was in a void being than the well. Cinder's breathing was heavy as she searched for a way out, but she turned to see a monster emerging from the shadows, the sacrifice horror that stared down with its golden eye. The fall Slifer Red fell backward on the ground as Relinquished reached out its right hand to her. Cinder shut her eyes in fear, but then felt the hand. However, rather than feel the claws rip into her skull, it was a gentle pat, "Huh?" Cinder opened her eyes, seeing no other action from the sacrifice horror.
It does not wish to hurt you. It simply wants to offer you power.
The voice spoke again, but this time not in Cinder's mind. She turned to her right to witness a pale-skinned woman with black and red eyes walk up to her.
As do I.
"Who are you?" Cinder asked as Relinquished pulled away its arm.
My name is Salem. I have been watching you since your arrival on this island.
Salem spoke as she stopped before Cinder.
You have potential…. No, I would say you are destined for greatness.
The embodiment of darkness then offered her left hand.
And we can accomplish great things together. What do you say?
Cinder looked at the extended hand, then turned to Relinquished. The sacrificed horror remained still, but unjudging in its gaze. The Fall Slifer Red turned back to Salem, hesitant at first, but then accepted her hand.
Later that day, Glynda and Winter saw Cinder walking down the hall, "Hey, we were looking for you." the caster Ra Yellow called out.
"Are you feeling okay after that walk?" Winter asked.
"Hehehehe," Cinder chucked before turning to them, "Yeah, I've never felt better." She spoke with a hint of an amber glow in her iris.
Sometime later.
As they went through their days at Duel Academy, the trio had reached the year of the visiting trip to New Domino City. In a building marked with the logo for Industrial Illusions, they sat before a young man with bluish-black hair and glass, "I must say, it's an honor to meet the three rising stars of Duel Academy."
"The honor is all ours, Mr. Phoenix." Glynda spoke with a bow, "We appreciate your time to meet with us."
"No worries," He spoke with a smile, "I understand you're close to graduation. Have any of you thought of your next phase of life with card games."
"My goal has been to join the Pro Leagues." Winter spoke in a cold voice, "Nothing will steer me off of that, not even my father's wish."
"Oh, well I can't speak for all dads." Mr. Phenix spoke, glancing at a photo of him holding a small child with grey hair, "But a father should want the best for their child."
"My goal is to become a teacher." Glynda spoke, "I wish to help educate the duelist of the next generation with my experience at Duel Academy."
"That's very noble of you, it sure helps to have experts on how the games are played." Mr. Phoenix spoke with a chuckle before looking to Cinder, "And you?"
"I wish to go into card design." Cinder spoke, "And I was told you could help inspire me."
"Oh, of course!" Mr. Phoenix spoke in excitement, turning his computer screen to the trio, "Here are some designs I'm working on. This one is called Tragoedia. After the success of Gorz, they wanted another monster to special summon from the hand." He said as Winter and Glynda grimaced at the sight of the demonic black creature with pincers.
"Amazing, I love the details." Cinder spoke with a smile, "Do you have any others you can show?"
"Yes, I have this one I'm working on as a boss to a new archetype. It's based on a vampire and-" Mr. Pheonix said as he looked at his folder, but gasped, "What, did I leave it on my home desktop?" He sighed, "Sorry for getting your hopes up, but that one is not here."
"It's okay, I understand," Cinder said with a smile. After the rest of the interview and shadowing, the trio left Mr. Phoenix at his desk. However, Cinder walked back to him, "I would still love to see that card you mentioned before." She leaned into him with a smile, "Maybe I can stop by later tonight?"
"Well, I don't know." Mr. Phoenix spoke, then smiled, "But okay, it's not every day I meet an enthusiastic learner like you in card design. I can even show you the prototype card as well." He said before taking out a business card and pen, "Here is my address on the back, come by when you have time tonight."
"I'll be there," Cinder spoke as she took the card. As she walked away, her sneer grew as her eye flickered in an amber light.
Later that night, Winter was fast asleep as Glynda was reading a book, then heard the door open. She looked over to witness Cinder entering the room, "Why were you out so late?" Glynda asked, "Did you want to do one of those walks like you do around the island?"
"You could say that." Cinder said as she placed her purse on the bed, "I had some time to think, and I've reconsidered my career path." She said while sitting next to Glynda, "I'll become a teacher like you."
"Really?" Glynda responded.
"Yeah, card design is so taxing." Cinder spoke, "And if people are already running out of ideas, no point in me trying it."
"I see, you must not have liked his idea of vampires in card design." Glynda said as she adjusted her glasses, "After all, they are a completely fictional concept with no realm to reality."
"Hahahaha, that's why I like you. You're so rational and smart." Cinder said with a smile, "Its why I think you would make a great teacher." She said with smirk, "Or a magician, given all those tricks you know."
"Well, you know what they say," Glynda responded with a smile, "A magician never reveals their secrets."
"Like the secret of your cosplay outfit-" Cinder was saying until Glynda covered her mouth with the caster Ra Yellow looking back to Winter, who was still asleep. She eventually lowered her hand as the fall Slifer Red signed, "Fine, that one is safe with me. Now, care to tell me more about your plans for teaching."
"Thank you, and of course, let us begin," Glynda said with a smile before hearing Winter snore in the background, causing the two girls to chuckle. As they did so, Cinder's purse was slightly open. Sliding partway out next to a red stain was a card showing the wing of a bat, but it was much larger.
Upon their return to Duel Academy, Cinder made her way to a cave. In entering its darkness, she was sent to the void to meet Salem. The Fall Slifer Red knelt before offering a card, "I did as you asked and retrieved it."
Excellent work. This is but this is only the first piece in my plan.
Salem spoke as she took the card.
A card that can absorb the souls of even duel monsters.
"Bleeding them dry." Cinder spoke as she stood, "It's truly a powerful monster." She said before crossing her arms, "What do you wish for me to do now?"
Now, find duelists to aid us, as I found you. Search for souls in need of our way of guidance so that we may defeat our enemies in the coming battles.
"And if the people prove resident when the time comes?" Cinder asked.
Do whatever you need to make sure they will not have a choice. And if they still resist, I can be very persuasive.
Salem said before turning around.
For now, I must leave to experiment with what you have given me.
"I see," Cinder said with a smile as Salem walked away, "When will I see you again?"
You should hear my voice first.
Salem spoke as the darkness faded.
That will be when I call for the Shadow Riders.
The darkness faded as Cinder remained in the cave, letting out a breath. She then looked at the hands, trembling, "The power, I can feel it." She said before clenching her fist, "Salem, I will not fail you."
Present time.
"I will not fail you," Cinder said as she walked down a pathway toward the volcano. On her way, she saw someone emerge from the bushes.
"Hello," Yuri spoke as he waved with the metallic arm, and a smirk on his face, "Look what I found." He said as Cinder stopped before him, "How about you try this on instead of that ugly one there." Yuri spoke as he pointed at the monstrous arm.
"This was a gift from Salem." Cinder responded, "I'm not going to replace it with that one you found."
"Come on, you can't be so attached to her anymore." Yuri asked, "I mean, what has she done for you except making a lapdog."
"She has done everything for me!" Cinder shouted back, "I was wasting away before she gave me power."
"Then keep the power and ditch her already." Yuri responded, "You don't owe her anything anymore. She doesn't care what happens to you now that she has what she wants within her grasp, so just leave." he said before smirking, "Or even better, use what you have now to take her down." The sadistic Obelisk Blue then grinned, "But if you're too chicken, I will be the one to defeat her."
"Yuri…" Cinder spoke with a smile form as she approached him. Yuri slightly gasped as she reached her right hand out to him, flinching a bit from their last encounter. However, she placed her hand on the top his head, "You are my greatest student." she said as she rubbed his head, causing him to smile. However, she then pulled her hand back, then smacked the back of her palm across his face, sending him into the bushes as the metallic arm fell at Cinder's feet, "But you still don't know a thing about your role in all of this." The Fallen Shadow Rider spoke as she looked down at him holding his red check, "You were just a pawn to me. like the others I got for Salem's plan. The only difference is when I decided to move you on the board. You weren't needed at the start, and you're not needed at the end." Cinder spoke before walking away, "Goodbye Yuri."
"…" Yuri remained silent as he still held his face, then looked back at the metallic arm. His teeth grit as he was about to smash it. But before doing so, he saw something still intact in it. In reaching for a duel disk slot, he pulled out a card. In recalling, thins was the trap Yang was allowed to set. He gasped at the card, wondering how she had acquired something like this. However, the smile soon returned to his face as he added the card to his deck and picked up the metallic arm.
As Cinder made it to the center volcano, she quickly located Salem at the edge.
Well, is it done?
Salem spoke before turning to Cinder.
Have you acquired the Sacred Beasts?
"Yes, they are yours now." Cinder said as she ejected her deck from the monstrous arm, "I have done as you asked perfectly." She said while sifting through the cards, pulling out all three sacred beasts. She then knelt before offering them to Salem, who took them.
I see.
Salem said while examining the cards before turning.
Yet it seems you have attracted unwanted guests.
The embodiment of darkness said as the Fallen Shadow Rider gasped, "CINDER!" she turned to see it was Aster who called out her name, "I finally found you!" he spoke as he approached from another tunnel into the dormant volcano, "You killed my father." The destined pro duelist spoke as he readied his duel disk, "And I'm going to avenge him right now!"
"What, how did you find this-" Cinder was saying until seeing Neo in the tunnelway, glaring at her, "That little-"
"…!" Neo scowled at Cinder with Sora next to the mute pro duelist.
It seemed she recalled this location from your last duel, banking on you being here.
"Tsk," Cinder gritted her teeth, then focused on Aster, "Oh I see now, you're his son." She said before chuckling, "That card designer fool who gifted me his greatest creation."
"More like you stole it off his dead body." Aster responded, "I searched my whole life for the murderer. I knew it had to be someone he let into our home on that day."
"But they could never pin it on me, they never even suspected at thing." Cinder responded, "As far as everyone knew, I was gone before he even realized his mistake." She then turned to the embodiment of darkness, "Salem, let me exterminate these rats."
"The only one getting exterminated here is you!" Aster said before seeing Pyrrha walk up to stand beside him, "What are you doing?"
"I have a score to settle with her as well." Pyrrha responded, "She manipulated and forced me to fight as her Shadow Rider last year." She said before glaring at Cinder.
"Fine, it does not matter." Cinder spoke as she turned to Salem, "Shall we duel them together? Or would you rather I humiliate both at the same time."
No, I will not allow you to hold me back. Nor can I trust you against two dualists who have survived this long on the island.
Salem spoke as Cinder gasped.
You can deal with the girl; I will focus on the son.
The embodiment of darkness said as she looked at Aster with a grin.
After all, should thank him for his father's gift. It has been very helpful.
"So, you have his card?" Aster called out, "Then give it back now!" he said before a black void appeared at his feet, causing him to sink, "What!?"
We shall duel somewhere less cramped.
Salem said before looking back to Cinder.
Do not fail this simple task, she should be no match for you.
"As you wish," Cinder said with a bow.
"Aster!" Pyrrha said as she ran over to him.
"No, stay away before you get sucked in!" Aster called out as Pyrrha stopped, "Lisen, neither of these people can get away. I'll take down this monster behind it all." He said before pointing to Cinder, "And you defeat the woman who killed my father." The destined pro duelist said before the darkness covered his head. Pyrrha remained speechless for a moment before gritting her teeth, then turned to Cinder with a glare.
"Uh, this is getting intense." Sora said before looking to Neo, "Maybe we should just leave them to fight it out?"
"Tsk," Neo gritted her teeth before rushing down.
"Neo, what are you doing!" Sora called out.
"…!" Neo readied her duel disk as well but was stopped as Salem manifested in front of her.
If I recall, you are the one who defeated my King.
Salem spoke as she looked down on Neo, who had white eyes at the sight. Suddenly, the embodiment of darkness grabbed the mute pro duelist by the neck, lifting her off her feet.
"…!" Neo gasped for air as she was choked.
"Hey, put her down!" Sora said as he rushed Salem. However, she turned her gaze to him for a moment, causing a dark wave of wind to push him back and into a wall, rendering him almost unconscious.
"…!" Neo gasped as she struggled to try and escape.
Perhaps you are a better vessel for it.
Salem spoke before looking back to Cinder. In holding out her hand, the Fallen Shadow Rider felt her monstrous right arm being pulled forward, "Salem, what are you-" Cinder was saying until the monstrous arm was ripped off her body, "AAAAAAAAAAA!" she screamed as Pyrrha gasped. The monstrous arm was pulled into Salem's gasp before she placed it onto Neo's face. The fingers locked into the skulls as Neo tried to scream but could not.
Let us see if you can awaken the spirit.
Salem spoke before her, and Neo's body was swallowed by shadows.
"AAAAAAAAAA!" Cinder continued to scream in pain, "Salem, how could you abandon me. How am I supposed to-" she was saying until the metallic arm was thrown in front of her, "Huh?"
"Well, I think this gift is a lot more appealing now." Yuri spoke, "How about you try it before it melts in the lava?" The sadistic Obelisk Blue said as he approached with his hands behind his back.
Cinder gritted her teeth before picking up the arm with her left hand, then placing into on her stomp, "AAAAAAAAAAA!" she screamed again as metal fused with flesh, but soon she could move the fingers again. Her breathing was heavy as she saw Yuri approached, "Why did you come back, even after I-"
"We'll talk about that later." Yuri said before walking over to the unconscious Sora, "Why don't you show me the reason why I started following you?" he said before kicking Sora in the thigh, "And you wake up now, I don't want anyone to miss this duel." He said as Sora's eyes twitched before slightly opening,
"Uh…Neo…" Sora said before looking at Yuri and gasped, "You, you're-" he said before a lollipop was placed in his mouth.
"Just sit back and watch." Yuri said as held the stick part of the candy, "Let them settle this." he said as Pyrrha focused on Cinder.
"I will be the one to stop you now." Pyrrha spoke, "To make sure you don't ever hurt anyone again."
"Heh, you say that as if someone like you can defeat me?" Cinder said as she readied her duel disk arm, "But for your past help, I will make this a painless death." She said before her eye gleamed with an amber light, "When I reduce you to ash."
"Duel!" the two duelists said as the battle in the dormant volcano had begun.
Pyrrha: 4000 Life Points
Cinder: 4000 Life Points
"The first turn is mine!" Pyrrha said as she drew, playing the card instantly, "I summon Delta the Magnet Warrior in defense mode." She said as the cyan magnetic creature was seen in a knelt stance, (1600 ATK / 1400 DEF). "And with his effect, I can send Alpha the Magnet Warrior from my deck to the graveyard." The magnetic pro duelist said doing so, then two a couple of cards out of her hand, "I end with two cards face down."
"Then I'll go." Cinder said as she drew from her new metallic arm, putting the card in her hand before playing a different one, "I summon my Darklord of Delight in defense mode." She said as a dark fairy was seen with short brown hair and one black wing on her left side, (0 ATK / 1600 DEF). "With her effect, she allows me to tribute summon right now." She said as her monster turned into an orb of black energy, "And despite this monster's level, it only needs one fairy as tribute. Now, come forth, Darklord Desire!" The Fallen Shadow Rider said the order expanded before a set of red wings erupted from it, revealing a dark-armored corrupted angel onto the field, (3000 ATK / 2800 DEF). "While he can beat over your monster easily, I can use his effect to lower his attack by 1000 to send your monster to the grave."
"Oh no," Pyrrha gasped before her monster faded away. At the same time, Darklord Desire radiated a red weaking aura, (3000 – 1000 = 2000 ATK).
"Now attacker directly with Crimson Cross Cutter!" Cinder ordered as her monster rushed in with its duel-clawed arms. However, the slash was blocked by a yellow barrier.
"I reveal Power Wall, this blocks all damage so long as I mill one card for every 500 points of damage I would have taken," Pyrrha said as she sent four cards from her back to the graveyard.
"Tsk, I suppose it was not going to be that easy to land a direct attack. Your reputation proceeds you." Cinder said before grinning, crossing her arms, "But that isn't the only thing you are known for."
"… Answer me one thing," Pyrrha said as she paused her draw phase, "Was that accident you're doing as well?" She said Cinder did not change her expression.
"It was just a little threatening for the arena owner to overlook a few safety inspections before the match." Cinder responded, "And an accident like that was all it took to break your will for you to become my puppet."
"You… manipulative, sociopathic, vindictive, evil, BITCH!" Pyrrha said as she was seething with rage, her teeth grit, "You're the reason she died that day!"
"It wasn't my fault the arena was unsafe for her." Cinder responded, "If I recall, if your duel was not so intense, or maybe if you weren't trying so hard to win. She could have lived." She said before sighing, "But perhaps no matter what, she was always fated to die that day." The Fallen Shadow Rider said before glaring, "Just like you are today, now continue your draw."
"Don't underestimate me, I draw!" Pyrrha said as she placed the card in her hand, taking another one out, "I summon Epsilon the Magnet Warrior in Attack mode." She said as a lavender magnetic creature appeared, (1300 ATK / 1500 DEF). "This time, I can send Beta to the grave to change Epsilon's name. As well, I can now summons Delta back from the grave." The cyan magnetic creature was seen again ready for battle, (1600 ATK / 1400 DEF). "Like before, I can send my third Magnet Warrior to the grave, Gamma! With all three, I reveal my other face-down card, Magnet Conversion. Now, all three come back to my hand." She said before holding up her hand with all three normal monster magnet warriors, "And I tribute them all the summon Valkyrion the Magna Warrior!" Onto the field were Alpha, Beta, and Gamma before breaking apart to reform into their true combination, hitting the field with a reposed blade, (3500 ATK / 3850 DEF). "Go, attack with Gravity Slash!" she said as Valkyrion rushed in with her blade raised high, bisecting Darklord Desire.
Cinder: 4000 – 1500 = 2500 Life Points
However, Cinder's monster began to reform after the attack, "What!?" Pyrrha gasped.
"I discard Darklord Tezcatlipoca to prevent Desire's battle destruction," Cinder responded as she sent the card in her hand to the graveyard.
"Tsk," Pyrrha gritted her teeth as she took a card out of her hand, "I set one card and end my turn."
"I draw," Cinder said before putting the card in her hand, then pointing, "I'll use Desire's effect to destroy your Valkyrion!" she said as her monster's red aura intensified, (2000 – 1000 = 1000 ATK).
"Not this time, I reveal my facedown card, Magnet Force!" Pyrrha responded, "For this turn, my rock monsters are immune to your monster's effects." She said as forcefield radiated around all Pyrrha's monsters.
"Why you, I switch Darklord Desire to defense mode." Cinder as the crimson fallen angel had crossed his arms in a blocked stance, "I'll set one card as well, that ends my turn."
"That will not save you, I draw!" Pyrrha said before pointing, "Valkyrion attacks her monster!" She said her magna warrior slashes Desire in half, this time causing both parts to detonate, and now Delta and Epsilon attack you directly!" she said as both her magnet warriors rushed in, attempting to end the duel now.
"Go ahead, but I reveal my face down, Darklord Divinity!" Cinder responded with a trap, "By discarding my Darklord monster, I can negate one monster on your field effect." She said as a white aura appeared around Valkyrion, "And since I did, I gained its attack points as life points." She said as each magnet warrior hit Cinder, but with her gained white aura, the damage was not more than the gain.
Cinder: 2500 + 3500 - 1600 – 1300 = 3100 Life Points
"Damnit," Pyrrha said before ending her turn.
"I draw, and it's time I end this duel." Cinder said as she played the card she drew, "I summon Darklord of Pleasure." She said as a fairy with long brown hair and was seen with only a right black wing, (1600 ATK / 0 DEF). "And with this one, I can take two Darklord monsters with different levels. The level five Darklord Eden Arae summons to your field." The Fallen Shadow Rider said as Pyrrha saw a demonic angel with massive arms in a defensive stance, (2300 ATK / 2000 DEF), "And I can add the level eleven card to my hand."
"Level eleven?" Pyrrha commented.
"Yes, you'll see him soon enough." Cinder said as she put the card in her hand, then took out a spell, "I play Darklord Contact to summon back Darklord of Delight in defense mode." She said as a left black winged fairy was seen again, (0 ATK / 1600 DEF). "As you recall, I can now tribute summon, but I can use two tributes this time." She said as both monsters covered their bodies with their respective wings, merging into one, "Witness, the level eleven Darklord Morningstar!" At the merger, four more wings were seen as a fallen angel with white hair appeared in a rain of black feathers, (3000 ATK / 3000 DEF).
"Even with that attack, my Valkyrion is much stronger," Pyrrha responded.
"I'm nowhere near done yet." Cinder spoke, "When he is tribute summoned, Morningstar allows me to special summon Darklord Monster from my deck equal to the number of effect monsters you have." She said before pulling out her deck, "That means four monsters."
"WHAT!?" Pyrrha exclaimed in dread.
"Meet Darklord Ixchel, Superbia, Nasten, and Amdusc!" Cinder said as the rain of black feathers continued. One fallen angel appeared in half-black and white attire, her beck bent as if she was hung by a rope as she was in a defensive stance, (2500 ATK / 2900 DEF). Another was a black armored bird-like fallen angel with red wings appear, (2900 ATK / 2400 DEF). Between then was a black bull demon with white feathered angel wings, (2600 ATK / 2600 DEF). Finally, was a purple uniform over a green glowing glyph, its head lowered in a defensive stance, (1800 ATK / 2800 DEF). "With six total Darklord monsters on the field, I use my Morningstar's effect to mill six cards to gain 500 life points for each one that was a Darklord card." She said before looking at the six cards, "I only see one Darklord card here." The Fallen Shadow Rider said as she placed the cards in the graveyard, "But it was the one I wanted."
Cinder: 3100 + 500 = 3600 Life Points
"My, what an impressive army you have there." Yuri commented, "But they are all still weaker than her Valkyrion."
"Which is why I will use Nasten's effect." Cinder spoke, "For 1000 life points, I can use a Darklord Trap in my graveyard without an activation cost and return it to my deck." She said while taking out the milled card, "Darklord Uprising, allowing me to fusion summon."
"Fusion?" Pyrrha said as a black, red, and white vortex appeared behind Cinder with Morningstar, Superbia, and Nasen all entering the vortex.
Cinder: 3600 – 1000 = 2600 Life Points
"I fusion summon, the level twelve, Lucifer, Darklord of the Morning Star!" Cinder said as clasped her hands together, caught a hellish angel appear, expanding his six wings. He held a blade with a purple aura and a black shield with a red core center. In his descent, the red halo over his head glowed brighter than all over Darklord seen before him. With this aura, it was apparent he was the first Darklord to become one, (4000 ATK / 4000 DEF).
"4000 attack points!?" Pyrrha spoke as her monster was now not the strongest one on the field.
"That's not all, since I used Darklord Morningstar in his fusion." Cinder responds, "All your cards are destroyed." Pyrrha gasped as all four of her monsters exploded, "With an empty field, I attack you directly with Lucifer. Go, end this with Eternal Agony Assault." She said as the first Darklord tried to rush in, but was held back by a magnetic field, "What?"
"You destroyed all cards on the field," Pyrrha responded as the dust cleared, "But when I milled with Power Wall, I sent Electromagnetic Turtle to the grave. And I banish it to end the battle phase."
"Oh, you almost had her," Yuri commented, a smirk towards Cinder. "Almost."
"Tsk." Cinder scoffed as she ended her turn, "It won't matter, next turn is all you have left."
"I won't let you win." Pyrrha said as she clenched her fist, "I'll do whatever it take to make sure you lose, I draw!"
AN: There you go, it's been a while since I have had a two-part duel chapter. This one was a lot of fun to show Cinder's full story here. I hope this does give a bit more context to her character and how she came to be who she is today. Salem now has the Sacred Beast in hand and took Cinder hand from her. Luckly, Yuri gives her Yang's arm so she can duel, (This was why in this continuity Cinder and Yang lost the same arm. Also, considering all that Yuri did in the last couple of chapters, I think people would appreciate that backhand slap). Aster finally meets his father's killer, but is unable to duel her, so Pyrrha steps up to take her down. Will Pyrrha defy fate to beat Cinder for good or is her destiny to be the same as the original series. That is all for now, thanks for reading, and hope to see you in the next chapter.
Now, time to answer some questions. Main thing was the Yubel, a character who has not been mentioned by name in this series. However, based on this chapter with something that happened, you may be seeing them appear with those new support cards in the future. Those were all the questions I had, feel free to ask more, and I will answer them in the next chapter.
