The first time Harry saw Peter he realised two things.

One : He still hated that rat.

Two : Even though he was a baby, his magic was exceptional, much more than a average wizard's or witch's should be.

How did he know that? Because the first time Peter tried to get close to him and pick him up his magic lashed out causing Peter to hit the opposite wall and all the windows to explode.

Unfortunately Dumbledore was also there at that time ad had noticed his 'extraordinary power', cementing Harry as the chosen one in his mind. From then on he was around constantly trying to get close to Harry, as was Peter but that was probably on Voldemort's orders.

Right now he was watching silently as Dumbledore tried to convince his parents that moving and using the Fidelus Charm would be their best option.

"The fidelus is the safest protection I can offer you. Even I can't undo it." He stated.

James and Lily glanced at each other, still uncertain about the decision Dumbledore was asking them to make. "What about runes, or rituals? The protections on the Black house are formidable can't we do something similar?" Lily asked desperately. She knew there were better options out there, much safer, dangerous, more lethal options.

She might have never considered them when she was a child, back in Hogwarts when she believed the light would protect her from the dark, but now she had no such notions. She was a mother, and her first priority would be to her child even if it meant staining her hands with the life of others.

Yes, being a mother had bought out a much more lethal side of Lily Potter and she was all the gladder for it. It was just help her protect her child better. The same child who was peeking at her curiously with his jewel green eyes.

Her eyes.

"Unfortunately no. Those are some very dangerous protections which use blood and life force and to become so defensive it takes years."

Lily closed her eyes in frustration. She knew if it was just the matter of blood she, her husband would happily bleed themselves dry in a second just to protect this precious child. He was their life now.

"We need to think it through Professor. This is where we envisioned we would grow old and build our family, we don't want to change our life completely just because of the war. That isn't how we want to raise Harry, to live in fear and hide away."

"I understand my dear boy, unfortunately Voldemort will be targeting you, specifically Harry, not just because you both are exceptional and have defied him multiple but because of the prophecy. You need to survive. Harry needs to survive."

James and Lily looked at each other, concern and determination mixing in their eyes.

They didn't want Harry to survive.

They wanted him to live.

Having had enough of the talk, Harry began to fuss. He had very complicated towards Dumbledore which he didn't even want to get into.

Dumbledore had been his hope, his salvation, the one who had saved him from the Dursleys, the one who saved him after every confrontation with Voldemort.

But.

But, he was also the one who had placed him with the Dursleys, the one who admitted he knew he would be abused but thought it worth it.

The one who raised him like a pig for slaughter.

He pushed his conflicting thoughts out of his mind, gurgling and moving indicating his discomfort.

His parents immediately refocused on him, his mom bringing him close while his dad showed Dumbledore out saying they will think it through and let him know soon.

"Oh my poor baby, did you not like Dumbledore's suggestion?" Lily cooed.

"He's just like his dad, aren't you prongslet? You don't want to run either."

Harry stopped fussing immediately fixing his eyes on his dad and nodding solemnly. James and Lily startled and looked at each other.

"Did he just…?" James asked in wonder, stars in his eyes.

"It's a coincidence." Dismissed Lily. She didn't want to think that her baby understood what was happening, understood the danger they were in, the danger he was in.

James put a comforting arm around his wife's shoulder, leaning his head on hers. Lily relaxed into her husband's hold. Content filling her soul as she was surrounded by her family.

The same comfort lulled Harry into a deep sleep, a soft smile gracing his lips.

The same comfort lulled Harry into a deep sleep, a soft smile gracing his lips.

"Come on let's go to bed." Lily whispered quietly looking at her sleeping child.

"Hmm" James hummed sleepily. "Cozy" He whined.

"Come on sleepy head, you can't sleep standing up." Lily chuckled.

James mumbled intelligibly while his arms moved to wrap around Lily, preventing her from moving just as she took a step forward. The movement jostled Harry as a frown marred his face.

"Potter!" Lily snapped. After seven years of snapping his last name whenever she was annoyed, it was a habit she slipped into even after being married.

"Alright ,alright Lils I'm sorry, come on let's get this little guy to bed." He whispered placating his wife with a delighted smile on his face. He loved annoying her, her eyes sparkled with fire and her whole face seemed so alive.

With that both parents walked upstairs to Harry's room placing him in his cot and each kissing him goodnight.

"Goodnight Prongslet, I know you understood our conversation but don't worry, we'll always protect you." James whispered before leaving his son's room.
