Chapter 15

Owen Ozwald was right behind that door, when she opened it she would see him and he would see her.

Natasha was going to do inside with her, while Steve and Bucky waited in the observation room. Bucky had resisted but Oakleigh explained that seeing the two of them together would only distract Owen. She did not want to do anything to antagonize him seeing them together again.

Oakleigh stood outside that door for nearly five minutes, not saying a single word. The others waited quietly, watching her.

Finally, she turned and looked at Bucky. "I don't want to see him."

"You don't have to." He assured her.

It was not her job to interrogate him and find out who Larson is. That was Steve or Natasha's job.

She was not an Avenger. The only reason for her to go in there would be if she needed closer and if she had anything she needed to say to him. What she learned while staring at the black metal door was that she had nothing to say to him. She did not need to be here.

"Could we go somewhere?"

Bucky nodded, holding his hand out for her to take.

.

They borrowed one of the SUVs from the garage and Oakleigh typed in an address to the GPS. Bucky drove happily, his hand on Oakleigh's thigh. One hour and Fifty-seven minutes later they pulled off into a parking lot.

Bucky could hear the waves of the ocean crashing before they got out of the car. Oakleigh climbed from the passenger seat, waiting for Bucky to join her at the front before walking up the grassy hill that gave way to sand. There were a couple of people walking along the beach, the weather still a little too chilly for swimmers.

Oakleigh walked a little in the sand, dropping down in it, pulling her knees to her chest. Bucky sat behind her, legs stretched out on either side of her, arms circling her waist, hugging her to him.

"This is where I spread my mother's ashes. It looked a lot different back then, less well kept." Oakleigh fiddled with the ring on her pointer finger. "This was my mother's. It's her wedding band."

Bucky zeroed in on her finger. The simple thin gold band. Oakleigh had managed to keep it with her through the decades, he had noticed it before, though maybe it had been a gift from her parents or an old boyfriend.

"My parents, they were the ones on the block that everyone talked about. Loud yelling at night that you could hear echo all the way down the street, pleasant smiles and politeness while out in public the next day. Everyone knew it was fake, but they still smiled back. No one ever addressed it. Mom always tried to de-escalate things, but my father, never let anything go."

"My mother she- she was going to take me and run away. She had been slowly stealing a couple of cents from my father every month, bidding her time until she had enough for a train ticket for both her and I. She bought the tickets, she did not know that I had seen them. So at dinner, I asked her in front of him when we were leaving on our trip." Oakleigh sniffled, voice wavering. "He started yelling at her, he broke her wrist at the table, forced her to get up, give him the tickets."

"Mom, she never got loud, never fought back. Until that night, she told him exactly what she thought of him. He killed her for it. He- he beat her to death. Set the tickets on fire and dropped them on her body. I was forced out of the house in my pjs. My father spun this whole story about how heartbroken he was that he only had time to run inside and save me. That he didn't have time to get her out too."

"We stayed with one of the neighbours overnight. We ended up staying the weekend until my dad lined up another place for us to live. When he was out, I went over and gathered the soot into a jam jar. I know it wasn't actually her that I collected but, at the time- I just. I didn't want to leave her there, alone. We moved from the town, dad didn't want all the looks from people who knew better. I was only five, the police never questioned me."

"Mom always talked about taking me to the beach. So when I got old enough, I made my way to this beach. I poured the ash into the sand and mixed it in with a stick. So she could be somewhere she loved."

Bucky blinked away the tears in his eyes, his body curling around hers as if he could protect her from what she just shared with him. How horrible it must have been for her to see her father kill her mother and then to live out the rest of her youth with him.

"I never told anyone the truth about what happened to her. My father always told me no one would believe me, and that if I ever tried to tell the police would come take me away."

"I believe you," Bucky held her tight, kissing her wet cheek. "Baby, I'm so sorry."

Oakleigh cried, dropping her head forward. "He ignored me until I was eleven. When he remarried the woman, she couldn't have kids. She always wanted them, she doubted on me, and so did he. I pushed her away, flat-out ignored him. If I needed anything I did it myself, never for a single second let either of them take care of me. His act, it made me so mad and the fact that he had replaced my mother-. The night she told me I could call her mom I lost it, screamed and broke all their wedding dishes. I became the problem."

"So I spent all my time at a friend's house, or at the library. Only going home to sleep. The library had war propaganda up on the wall behind the desk, as soon as I saw it, I knew that was my way out."

"Guys like Owen, Larson, Hydra. They're bullies, just like my dad. My mother spent her whole life being silenced by him, but she stood up to him in her final moments. That's why I do things you don't like, why I don't let them scare me. Me standing up to them or staying quiet isn't going to be the deciding factor for them to kill me or not. My Father was always going to kill my mother. If Hydra is going to kill me anyway, why let them force me into hiding or make me scared."

Again he kissed her cheek. "I'm proud of you, for standing up to them. Your mother would be too."

"Even though you wish I would hide away, let you all take care of Hydra?"

Bucky huffed. "I know I'm protective. You've already been through so much pain, I want to keep you from more. Keep Hydra from reaching out and hurting you, us again. So I get mad and fearful when you want to face them or go off on your own when someone is targeting you. I know it drives you nuts, and I've tried to smother the urge but-"

"You love me." She smiled softly.

"I love you."

They both looked out into the ocean. Watching the waves shape the sand and toss seaweed.

"Marry me."

"Yes."

.

She had asked Bucky to marry her on the beach. They had called Steve, telling him to come alone and meet them in the city. He was the only witness they needed to make things official.

"I brought this just over a month ago," Bucky said, sliding a gold diamond studded band onto her ring finger.

"So sure you'd get a yes out of me?"

"It was always a yes." He assured her. "You just needed time to know it too."

Oakleigh smiled, she slid her mother's wedding band off her finger, sliding it onto Bucky's. Steve stood just to the side, watching them smile tenderly at each other. He knew even though the courthouse official was speaking, neither of them was listening. Too locked in on each other.

They kissed, chased and sweet. Their first official kiss as James and Oakleigh Barnes.

Of course, everyone at the tower found out soon enough, clocking the new jewelry on both of their hands. Steve quickly talked Tony out of throwing some big party and instead, they settled for a bbq with just the Avengers and Pepper.

Bucky and Oakleigh got married because they loved each other and it was long overdue. Neither of them wanted some big party. They were happy to just be together.

"I decided I'm going to help Bruce out evenings and weekends in the lab. Steve reminded me that with who I am, having a real job would only endanger the people I work with. I was lucky non of my classmates were ever hurt. So I figured out what I want to do."

Bucky looked down at her, the two had taken a seat on the living room couches, everyone slowly coming inside from the patio.

"What's that?"

"I'm going to work a crisis hotline for women and children fleeing domestic violence and abusive homes. I need to go in for training, it's a five-day course, once that's completed I can work from home. They give me a special login for their software and as long as I log 20 hours a week minimum they're happy."

"I think that sounds great."

"Yea?" She had been worried he might be disappointed.

"Yeah. As long as it makes you happy, I am all for it."

"If there had been something like this back in the 1910s maybe my mom wouldn't have died. I couldn't change her ending but I can keep other children from going through what I did."

Bucky kissed her, hugging her tight to his side.

"Head's up."

Bucky caught the keys Tony through at him, "Happy pulled the SUV you took early upfront. There is a cottage on a lake about 92 Km from here. It's yours for the weekend. Be back sometime Monday, Pepper has family coming in next week, they're going to be staying there. I want to air out any honeymoon stench before they arrive."

Oakleigh chuckled pulling Bucky to his feet. "Better get moving, it's a long drive."

Bucky nodded at the billionaire in thanks.

.

The weather had been nice the whole three days they had been at the cottage. The lake shone with sunlight every morning, but like it was now. Bucky held his wife's hips, their foreheads touching. Oakleigh slowly rolled her hips, the trees absorbing the sounds of their moans and hums, while the lake amplified it.

They were all packed up and ready to go back home. They went from eating breakfast to having sex as the sun reached mid-morning high.

Oakleigh clenched down on Bucky's dick. "That's it, baby."

She hummed, Bucky's voice soothing her and turning her on at the same time. His encouraging hands firm and assisted her in her movements.

They both had expressed how nice it was being away. Neither of them takes their phones or any technology with them. Stark had a landline in the house they could use for emergency situations but that was all.

The peace of knowing they did not have to be anywhere and knowing that Steve would take care of anything they needed until they got back.

Bucky sunk her down onto him fully, encouraging her with his hands to grind down on him. Oakleigh's breath hitched. Her clit rubbed along the short hairs between Bucky's hips.

Bucky's head dropped back, groaning from deep in his chest.

"Cum with me." She requested out of breath, reaching down to roll his balls softly in her hands.

"Jesus Christ." His eyes closed, hips jerking up off the lounge chair.

Oakleigh kissed his neck, suckling along his jaw. Her hips stuttered and jerked as she lost control pushing against Bucky's chest to sit herself up. Bucky groaned loudly filling her up. He pulled her heated body down onto him, feeling their juices leaking out onto his boxer briefs.

These last few days had been perfect for him. Being somewhere safe, with Oakleigh's full attention on them. He needed this and after everything, they had been through in such a short amount of time, over a lifetime he knew Oakleigh needed this too.

Oakleigh whimpered his name, her hips jumping needing relief from the overstimulation causing her whole body to shutter. Bucky lifted her off him, turning her sideways so she could close her legs. Pulling her into his chest so they could both look out over the water.

His bare chest pressed into her side. His metal hand rubbed over Oakleigh's bare hip. Her panties were on the wood below them, his shirt the only thing covering her.

"Does it make you sad that we didn't get to live in our time?"

"Does it make you sad?"

Oakleigh shrugged, "I didn't miss all that much. You had a home to go back to. I didn't. I don't feel like I missed out on anything. But this time. Other than technology and women's rights, it's not so different. You and Steve are both still here. The only person I really have to miss is Donna. She was from DC, we probably would have lost touch over time anyway."

"My family would have loved you, you would have fit right in. We would have moved into my old room until we found a place nearby we liked. Gone over on Sundays for dinner. I'm sad because I know losing me would have been hard for them, getting that letter from the General. I think if I had convinced you to come home to Brooklyn with me, things would have been simpler. Not nessicariliy better."

Oakleigh smiled, "You think you coulda convinced me?"

Bucky smiled back at her, tickling her side. "Your stubborn ass would have made me work for it. But I think between Steve and me, we coulda convinced ya."

"I was so stupidly in love with you. I would have teased you for a while but in the end, I wouldn't have let you leave without me."

Bucky rolled his eyes, not impressed, "Yea you were a big fan of that game."

"You say game, I say survival tactic." He snorted.

"It sucked no matter what you want to call it."

"It was only ever in reaction to you being an ass."

"An ass." He snickered. "I think we may just have to agree and disagree on this one."

Oakleigh beamed at him. "You give up way too easily."

"Not for the important things."

"No." She agreed. "Not for those."

"Did you want to go for a swim before your shower?"

Oakleigh shook her head, spreading her legs. Bucky's eyes twinkled, his metal fingers dragging across her hip and slipping between her legs. Oakleigh pulled away standing up. Bucky took her hand following her up and back into the bedroom.

She slid onto the bed, aiming to land on her stomach. Bucky grabbed her hips pulling her back up onto her knees.

"Ditch the shirt." His breath hit her cheek, long fingers sliding up her waist assisting her in removing it.

His hands slid up and down her curves, heart racing when Oakleigh leaned back into him. He continued his movements, enjoying her weight against him, her smooth skin prickling under his touch.

Oakleigh wiggled back against him, "Who's the tease now."

"Still you." He put his knee up on the bed between her knees.

His movements forced her forward, Oakleigh used her hands to lower herself to the bed, wiggling her butt up at him as Bucky settled in behind her.

Oakleigh sighed into the blankets, Bucky grabbed her hips guiding her back onto him.

.

"Hey! Look who it is." Sam smiled, running up to them.

"Hi, Sam." Oakleigh smiled, hugging him.

Bucky nodded, turning his attention to his best friend.

"How were things?"

"Good." Bucky smiled. "I'm nervous to ask about things here."

Steve's eyes flicked to Oakleigh then back to Bucky. "It was quiet, lots of training. Natasha missed her sparing partner."

Oakleigh rolled her eyes, pushing at Steve instead of hugging him. "Hi, is she in the gym still?"

"She is. Knew you were coming back today and pushed her workout to this afternoon."

"Sweet." Oakleigh smiled up at Bucky.

"Sam and I were headed out for a run, you wanna come Buck?" He started to nod.

"Nat and I work out near the track." Bucky raised a bow, not seeing the problem. "It's going to make me self-conscious if I know you can see me."

After all the positions and ways he'd played with her body over their vacation, Bucky balked.

Make her self-conscious? "I don't like that. But the fact that Steve used the words "sparing partner" as opposed to workout partner makes me think you're doing more than running laps and push-ups."

"Nat's teaching me how to fight, so I can defend myself." Bucky's heart jumped.

"Ozwalds locked up, O."

"But Larson's not. Hydra's still around, I'm going to be ready for them this time."

Natasha made her way to them, hearing the tail end of the conversation.

"Lucky the red room never got their hands on you, you're a quick study."

"Awe, Nat's got a protegee." Sam joked.

"No." Bucky snapped, "She doesn't."

Oakleigh touched his arm, "I'm not looking to join the team but I'm not going to be an easy target either."

Bucky slicked his cheek, hands settling on his hips. "I get that."

She did not need his permission to do anything, but Bucky did not have it in him to endorse her getting beat on in training either. Oakleigh raised onto her tiptoes, pulling his cheek down to meet her lips.

"I'm going to change, I'll meet you in ten." She told Natasha, jogging toward the open bay door.

"Let's go on that run." Bucky told Steve, wanting to be able to watch Natasha and Oakleigh while they 'worked out'.

Bucky had shorts on already, so he put his bags in the bay. Steve followed clapping him on the back to commend him.

"You handled that well," Bucky said nothing. "Many women take self-defence classes, Buck."

"Not with assassins/spies as their teacher."

"Most are ex-military or have martial arts background. Nat is better."

"In the 40s I told you O isn't made for the war, that she didn't belong." Steve nodded remembering. "She doesn't belong here either."

"Meaning on the team. You heard her, she doesn't want to be an Avenger."

"Yet."

"Ah." He understood his friend's conservation now, "You think once she has enough training she'll want to. I have a pretty good feeling that she won't, but I can promise to put up so much red tape, even if she wanted to she won't be able to."

"Thanks." They joined Sam back out on the track.

"The girls are setting up in the middle on the grass." Sam nodded over to Natasha stretching. "Gives us the outer ring, perfect for you to spy on O with."

Bucky rolled his eyes, and he and Steve took off leaving Sam to swear and struggle to catch up. The two super soldiers slowed to accommodate him after lapping him once. Sam was too out of breath from trying to catch up that he was not able to call them names.

Bucky clocked Oakleigh walking out from the building on their seventh lap. She was in a black pair of shorts that showed her toned legs and a sports bra to match. She and Natasha warmed up by doing some simple combinations.

The girls talked in the middle planning before backing away from each other ready for attack. Bucky kept pace with Steve and Sam but was no longer paying attention to them.

Oakleigh bided her time waiting for the assassin to make a move first until she got too impatient. Oakleigh turned her back on the assassin and she attacked. Oakleigh, clearly learning and picking up moves from the other sessions stayed off her attack for fifteen seconds before Natasha had her on the grass.

Oakleigh stayed down and Natasha dropped to her knees, their hips lining up. Bucky stopped moving altogether when he watched Oakleigh's arms get pinned down in the grass, his mouth dry as he realized which scenario they had set up.

He turned away as Oakleigh bucked her hips, trying to throw Natasha off balance. "I think I'm done. I'm going to head in, use the speed bag."

"We'll come with you," Steve assured him, having stopped and followed Bucky's gaze.

Oakleigh shouted in frustration unable to Buck Natasha off her.

"The hope is to stay on your feet and not make it to your back. Let's get up, and do some hand-to-hand combat before calling it a day."

They had started with hand to hand making it Oakleigh's strongest skill to date. While she never got Natasha to the grass, she held her own for the most part, only landing on her back three times. When Natasha called an end to their day Oakleigh was relieved.

There was no doubt her back would be black and blue tomorrow. Natasha had slowed her fall as much as she could, but the pain was a part of the fight. If the first time she felt pain from sparing was during a real attack, Oakleigh would respond slower and find it harder to shake off.

"Hi, I'm going up to shower and then Nat and I are going to go to the lab."

Bucky stopped trading out with Sam so he could give Oakleigh his full attention. "What are you going to do in the lab?"

"Bruce asked me to come to familiarize myself with the supplies, and where things are kept. Nat is coming along primarily to see Bruce."

"I'll see you in the apartment later."

"Ok." She smiled.

.

Oakleigh hummed rolling her hips. Bucky's tongue lapped at her slowly, metal hand pressing into her stomach, flesh hand two fingers soon to be three dragging against her g spot.

"Buck." Oakleigh whimpered, legs trembling.

He sucked noisily at her clit, fingers working her over faster as he added more pressure with each stroke. Oakleigh's hips rocked downward into his mouth chasing the building feeling in her stomach. Bucky watched her muscles jump and tighten, concaving as she drew a sharp breath holding it as she spasmed around his fingers.

He wanted to continue his torment on her clit until she all but forced him away, but he knew if he wanted to do what he planned, Bucky could not overstimulate her off the bat. So with a parting kiss, he leaned up over her body smiling as her unfocused eyes found him and connected.

Oakleigh reached down between them taking his heavy length in her hand, Bucky thrust into her hand. He kissed her chest while she played with him. Her heart beating rapidly against his lips, he laid an especially long kiss there.

Coming up onto his metal arm so he could watch her expression, Bucky took his dick from her hold and slid his head from her hole to her clit. He lightly tapped her, watching her body jump and seeing the shocked blink of her eyes.

Oakleigh licked her lips, looking between their bodies as he repeated the action multiple times. She started tipping her hips in hopes he would relent and slide inside her, but he resisted. No matter how good he knew she would feel around him.

"Bucky."

He kissed her, cutting off her complaint. This was killing him as much as it was her, but watching her body react to him had always been one of his favourite things. He just wanted to watch her for a little while longer.

"I bet you could cum just like this."

Oakleigh whimpered pushing her hips down into the bed as he ground his head against her clit. Oakleigh felt her cum running down her butt cheeks the more her hole clenched around nothing. She grabbed onto the arm by her head, her forehead set in an adorable frown.

Bucky ran his nose along hers, watching her eyes cross inward in an attempt to keep looking at him. Bucky ran himself downward, groaning feeling the warm cum leaking from her, knowing soon it would be his cum.

"I can't- I'm so close."

He shook his head, his dick bumping her clit again, slapping down on it. Oakleigh's hips withered away as she tried to gain some kind of friction, trying to get herself off.

"Cum." He repeatedly tapped himself against her.

Oakleigh's back bowed off the bed as she pressed into him, wound so tight just needing an extra edge to push her over.

"Atta girl, make a mess. That's it, grind those pretty little hips and cum for me."

Sweat had broken out across her skin, her face flushed and her body vibrating. Bucky was worried he had gone a little too far til he heard that hitch in her breath and watched her eyes roll back into her head.

Bucky pulled his hips back and thrust inside her, bottoming out and holding his hips down against her. Biting his lip while she ground against him, he teased himself just as much as he had her. He could have lost it off watching her sweet facial expressions alone, let alone her cunt clenching and milking him relentlessly.

Taking a gasping breath, Oakleigh's legs come up to bracket Bucky's hips as she came back to herself. The hand that had been clenching his vibranium arm slid up his shoulder to his neck, pulling him down for a kiss.

They made out slowly and sensually. Hips pressed together in a slow grind. Oakleigh's spasms are enough for them at the moment. Bucky kept his chest against hers but next set his full weight on her.

No matter the position they both like to be close, to keep the contention to each other.

They had just gotten their sex-slick bodies from bed and managed to hose themselves off in the shower when an alarm sounded and their room lit up red.

"BREACH TO OUTER DOORS. UNIDENTIFIED PERSONS IN THE FACILITY."

The two had been ready for bed, exhausted. Now on high alert, Bucky ran to his closet to collect his gun and knives.

"Stay here." He told her.

"This place was supposed to be impenetrable."

"Lock the door behind me and don't open it for anyone but me." He kissed her quickly, running out the door.

"Ah, finally alone."

Oakleigh jumped, turning to see a tall lean male standing near her window.

With no weapon and only her sleep clothes on Oakleigh squared her feet to the stranger.

"Who are you?"

"I have many names Love, Loki being the most popular."

"Thor's brother?"

Loki's fists clenched, "God of mischief."

"You're the one who set off the alarm. Are you alone?"

"Lopt is another one of my names."

"JARVICE said there were multiple intruders."

"One of my favourite party tricks, I can make myself appear in multiples. Keep the others distracted with other me, while I talk with you."

"What could a god have to talk to me about?"

"Your father."

Oakleigh immediately felt on guard and defensive. "What about him?" The man was long since dead.

"He killed the love of my life. Your mother." Loki balled his hands into fists. "I use to do tricks for you, though I doubt you remember that, you were only two. We were actually getting quite fond of me before my father forced me back to Asgard."

"My mother and father were married before I was born."

"I did not say your mother and I had a relationship, only that I loved her."

"And why did you want to talk about my father?" Oakleigh frowned.

"He killed her, did he not."

Oakleigh balked, goosebumps popping up over her body. How would he know that? No one knew that for sure except for her, and now Bucky.

"My father died over 50 decades ago."

Loki grinned, "Who do you think killed him?"

"He drowned in the tube after suffering a heart attack."

Despite her disdain for the man, she had used Tony's tech to look into what happened to her last remaining family.

"That is what I made it look like to the mortal authorities yes. I assure you, he paid for what he did to her."

"You. You killed my father."

Loki flared his arms out in a bow, "Guilty."

"And you came all the way here to tell me that?" Why?

"I came here because I want to get the young women the women I loved shaped you into."

"But you're a god."

Loki's eyes trailed over her, "You resemble her a great deal."

"Why 'cause such a problem and break in, why not just knock on the door?"

"The Avengers and I have a sorted history. Let's just say I wouldn't be welcomed with open arms. I was hoping once I've had the chance to speak with you, you might consider meeting with me off-property."

"What did you do to make them react so strongly to you to put this place into lockdown?"

Loki licked his lips, willing her to accept the next words out of his mouth. "There was a battle a few years back in Newyork. We were on completing sides. In the end, they won and arrested me. I slipped their custody, my brother caught up with me but that is not really of much importance to you."

"It is if you're a war criminal. There is enough crap going on here without you interfering."

Loki took her hand bending slightly to meet her eyes. "Please, consider meeting with me."

"In secret."

"That would be preferred. Though something tells me you will share."

Oakleigh squinted, "I want the other side of the story, the things you are leaving out before I make a decision."

"Fair enough." He kissed her knuckles and stepped away releasing her hand. "Meet me at the west end of Bryant Park in three days' time, at midday. If you do not show up I will know your answer. However, I strongly urge you to accept."

"I guess you'll find out my answer in three days. Now please stop whatever is going on downstairs."

Loki nodded his head, disappearing from sight.
