The sun shined brightly on the lively village of New Asgard. People went about their day, some working, some chatting, others walking up and down the streets. It was quite nice.

However, many were congregated by the large structure on the edge of the cliffs of the town.

It was a large dome-like building with a large spire resembling a funnel standing erect from the top.

It might have looked a bit off, but it was something magnificent. This building was to be the new Bifrost for New Asgard. In hope for a new age of space exploration and the possibility of finding a new world should Earth be destroyed one day.

Yeah, not very optimistic on the last part, but still, it was here and it was finally finished. And today was to be the first testing of it; done by the King of New Asgard himself.

Said King and his daughter flew over New Asgard with the wind on their capes, all the way to the new building where their people were waiting.

They touched down and were met by cheers and applause. The Asgardians, both young and old, bowed as the two-thirds of their royal family walked through. They had much love and respect for them; yes, even Torunn!

Granted, they weren't too happy with her at all at first. But after her moving speech nearly a year ago, and the return of all their loved ones, save for the ones who were lost when Thanos attacked the Statesman ship, they now praised their princess and showered her with love and respect.

The two had finally passed the crowd and had made it to the steps which led to the large doorway of the Bifrost. The walkway up to it had been painted with multiple colors, making it like a rainbow. This was to commemorate the Bifrost from their homeworld, Asgard. Plus, it didn't look too bad either.

And at the doorway stood the queen of this people and two associates, a man, and a woman. The queen was dressed in a beautiful sleeveless red dress and a lab coat that stopped just past her ankles, and jeans underneath. She was the great doctor, or astrophysicist, rather, who helped with the construction of this fair building. The wife of Thor and the mother of Torunn, Jane Foster.

"There are my two favorite people in the world." She said with a smile.

"Hey!" The woman next to her whined, feigning hurt. This woman had glasses and was a little bit younger than Jane. She was her bespectacled, beanie-wearing best friend, Darcy Lewis.

Jane closed her eyes and chuckled. "You know you're number three. Right behind them."

"Mhm, okay," Darcy replied with a smirk. "I'll take what I can get."

Jane shook her head, but still smiled at her before her husband approached and she greeted him with a hug and a kiss.

As they did, the man next to Darcy whispered in her ear. "Don't worry, Luv. You're number one to me."

That was her boyfriend, Ian Boothby. He hugged her from behind and she smiled and sank into it.

Seeing these two older couples before her made Torunn think of her boyfriend, Jamie. Aka, The Captain. Co-leader of the Next Avengers team. It had been a few weeks since she had seen him in person and she did miss him greatly. But she would see him soon. Very soon.

"Ah, it look's like the king has arrived." A voice said.

They all looked towards the building and saw their dear friend, Erik Selvig.

"Erik!" Thor greeted, hugging the man.

It was a strong hug to be pulled into, but Erik was used to it. He patted the king's caped back, chuckling a little as he did.

"I'm glad you're here," he said as the hug broke. "It's finally ready. Come, come see."

So they all followed him into the structure and took in the scientific marvel around them.

"Wow!" Torunn said in awe. "It's beautiful."

And it was. It was a large circular room with a stump in the middle of it. And on the side was what seemed to be a control center. It was definitely more techno-like than the original, but given what the people had, it was great.

"You should've seen the one on Asgard," Jane said next to Torunn, "Your father took me there once, and...it was one the most amazing things ever."

"I wish I could've seen it." Torunn replied with awe in her voice. "But I'm sure this is going to be cool."

She would have loved to see Asgard in all its glory. Well, technically, she did see it when she and her friends traveled back in time to get the Infinity Stones. However, there wasn't much time for sightseeing. But the trip wasn't without its pleasure.

She got to meet her grandmother, Frigga, and her uncle Loki. And now, here she was with the rest of her family.

"Well, why don't we give it a spin?" Darcy asked excitedly.

"Yes, yes, let's." Erik agreed, "Ian, Darcy, stations!"

The two new doctors rushed to their stations which were control boards with monitors, dials, and a few buttons here and there. Pressing a sequence of buttons, the monitors lit up and the low rumbling sound echoed throughout the room. Soon, the whole building had powered up.

"Thor, if you would, please," Erik said to the king, motioning to the center of the room.

Thor stepped to the center where the short metal stump was and placed Stormbreaker by the handle into a hole. Once he did that, the whole place lit up and hummed. Then, the outside of the building, which seemed to act like an outer shell, began to spin.

"Energy levels are high and holding," Ian said, keeping an eye on one monitor. "It's accepting the energy from the axe!"

The plan when the new Bifrost was designed was that Stormbreaker -like Heimdall's sword and Odin's staff- would be the source of power in order to use the Bifrost.

The outer shell of the structure spun faster and faster, gaining more and more speed. As it did, the energy from Stormbreaker began to pour into the Bifrost with small cracks of lightning spiking throughout the room.

"Mechanics are holding," Darcy said before surfing through a map of the stars on a monitor, "I'm setting the destination now."

She soon found one: a deserted planet near the far end of the galaxy.

"Destination set. We're ready, Thor!"

Hearing her, Thor twisted Stormbreaker a little and so the spire of the building began to tip and point over the edge of the cliffs of New Asgard, pointing toward the horizon.

"Jane!" Thor called to his wife, waving her over. She hurried over and stood by Stormbreaker as Thor stepped back. "When I go through, turn Stormbreaker backward until the dial stops. That'll reverse the bridge and bring me back."

Understanding him, she nodded and held the erect axe firmly. But she didn't let Thor go just yet.

"You be careful." She said, almost warningly.

Smiling at her concern, Thor grazed her cheek with his hand once more before walking to the other side of the room where the giant doorway was met by the spinning funnel that became the Bifrost.

Once there, he looked to his friends and family, all of them wishing him well, especially Torunn and Jane. Then he looked forward and jumped into the portal, vanishing.

For a moment, no one said anything. The anticipation grew and grew before Ian spoke. "He's okay! His vitals are all good. The portal's not hurting him."

He knew this thanks to a band that he had given Thor the day before the test.

A sigh of relief went throughout the room upon hearing that.

"Okay, he should be there by now," Darcy said.

"Get ready to reverse the bridge, Jane," Erik called out, eyeing the portal.

After a few more seconds, Jane began to turn Stormbreaker counterclockwise, which slowly reversed the direction of the bridge.

Soon, Thor would be back as planned.

But suddenly, a yellow ping came up on a monitor. The one with Thor's vitals.

"Guys! Thor's heart rate just went up a few notches!" Ian said worriedly.

All heads went to him and eyes went wide with worry.

"What's wrong with him?" Jane asked worriedly.

"I don't know, it just showed he had a sudden rise in heartbeat."

Not wanting to wait, Jane began to spring into action. "I'm going after him! Torunn, come watch the axe."

Torunn was about to object and go with her, but Darcy stopped both if them. "Wait! He's coming back! He's in the wormhole now."

That made them all look to the portal, waiting and hoping Thor was alright.

And their hopes were paid well when out from the portal landed-

"THOR!" Jane exclaimed, running to her husband and embracing him with everything in her.

"It's okay, my dear," he cooed, hugging her back, "I'm alright."

"But what happened? Ian said your heartbeat spiked up!"

"Of course it did!" Thor replied quickly, smiling without a worry. "The uh, the adrenaline and excitement of being back in the Bifrost. Being able to teleport millions of miles away without having to fly! It was the thrill of adventure! You should've seen it!"

As he explained, Jane couldn't help but wonder if he was telling the truth or being his usual boastful/tough guy shielding self. Either way, she would find out.

"What was it like, Thor?" Erik asked, walking over, as did everyone else, "What did you see?"

Thor began to explain how thrilling it was to be within the Bifrost again and how he had teleported to some barren planet outside of their galaxy. To him, it sounded like a short, but great adventure. One Torunn wanted to try. But that would come another day.

Soon after, they went outside and told the people of New Asgard that the new Bifrost had worked and the ability to travel amons5 the stars as generations past had done was theirs once again.

Today was a glorious day in Asgardian history. A day when humans and Asgardians had worked together to create something...majestic. Although, this would be the second one.

The first one was Torunn, their Princess.

***Odinson/Foster Household***

Later on that day, Torunn had finished packing her bags and brought them downstairs.

Tonight, she was going to the Avengers Mansion to be with her friends, the Next Avengers. The group had planned that they all have a weekend together and catch up. It had been a while since they had been together without the responsibilities of being superheroes. So now they just wanted a nice quiet weekend where they could relax and be themselves.

And there was going to be romance amongst their group as well! Peter and Ava, Frankie and Kate, Sam and Kamala, Harley and Cassie, Viv and Amadeus, and of course, her and Jamie. Her handsome, redheaded captain.

Torunn could not wait to be back with him and everyone for a whole weekend. Literally, she couldn't.

"All ready!" She bellowed throughout the house as she reached downstairs.

"Right behind you!" A familiar voice called back.

Thundering footsteps came through the halls until her rocky friend appeared in a Hawaiian shirt and yellow swim trunks, and bags in hand.

"You certainly look like you're ready, Korg," Torunn said, hinting at his outfit.

"When you're going on vacation, you've got to look the part." The Kronan said, "I've learned that if you dress like you're going to relax, you actually become more relaxed."

The blonde princess giggled at her friend's logic. "Well, I guess you'll get to test your theory this weekend. Where's Miek?"

As if on cue, their insectoid friend walked in with his bags ready. He squeaked and gave a thumbs-up to his friends.

Now all they had to wait for was their ride.

Suddenly, the room began to shake and a low rumbling sound could be heard passing over the house.

Torunn smiled, already knowing what it was. She opened the front door and ran outside to see a large aircraft slowly ascending in a field by the house. The engines turned off, the ramp door dropped, and out walked a very familiar someone.

"JAMIE!" Torunn chirped before dropping her bag and running to him.

The young captain also ran towards her and they both met in the middle with a big embrace.

"Oh my god! I missed you!"

"I missed you too, T." Her boyfriend said, rubbing her back and pecking her cheek.

Torunn giggled at that and they broke the hug, but definitely didn't let go of each other. "How've you been?"

Jamie shrugged. "Pretty good. You know, school, superhero stuff. The usual."

"Right." The princess replied, knowing exactly what he meant.

"Ah, the young captain returns!" A voice behind them said.

It was Thor, and with him, Jane. And Korg and Miek.

"Hey, Uncle Thor!" Jamie said, walking over to his "uncle" and giving him a hug. The thunder king embraced him in return and lifted him off the ground a little, laughing from his belly as he did so.

His wife, though smiling, shook her head at this. "Thor, let him down."

"Oh, it's alright, Mrs. Foster." Jamie replied as his "uncle" let him down. "I like the big hugs."

"Yes, of course, you do!" Thor chuckled, patting Jamie's back, "He's strong like his father."

"My mistake," Jane joked, "And Jamie, how many times do I have to tell you, you can call me Jane. Or Auntie Jane if you want."

"Oh, sorry, ma'am. It's a force of habit. Maybe one day, though."

"Well, don't be sorry. You're a respectful young man, and that's rare these days."

"That's why I love him," Torunn stated, coming up and hugging Jamie from behind. This caused the young captain to smile, but also blush madly.

Thor and Jane noticed this and smiled knowingly. These two were great together. Both respectful and trustworthy.

"Awww, young love!" Another voice said. It was Darcy.

She and Ian stood there with bags of their own.

"Hey, Darcy! Ian!" Jamie waved at them.

"Hey, buddy." "G'day, Jamie!" The couple replied.

"You guys ready?"

"Ready and nervous," Ian said with a nervous chuckle.

He and Darcy had been called to an assignment in Westview, New Jersey to assist with the analyzing of some strange phenomenon. Their first official assignment as astrophysicists. And Erik, Jane, and Torunn couldn't have been prouder of them.

"I know you'll do well, Ian," Thor said to his friend, "You've already done well with Darcy, and I have no doubt you'll do even better come what may."

Those words hit a soft spot within Ian and gave him a bit of a confidence boost. "Thanks, Thor. I appreciate that."

"My pleasure."

Darcy playfully bumped her man's side, to which he looked at her and smiled. This would go well. He knew it...hopefully.

"Well, are we ready for a trip or what?" Korg asked them all, Miek squeaking behind him.

"We're ready!" Torunn excitedly replied, taking her bags which Korg had brought out for her.

Naturally, Jamie took one of them to help her. To which she kissed his cheek.

Then the goodbyes were said. Torunn hugged her parents and Erik, as did Darcy, Ian, and Korg and Miek. Then they all headed for the quinjet. There was a bit of concern as to who was flying the ship, but that lessened(a little) when they boarded the ship and saw who was at the helm.

"Sam!" Torunn exclaimed.

The Human Rocket himself, Sam Wilson smiled and opened his arms as she ran to him. "Hey, Tori!"

The two hugged and laughed. It was great to see an old friend, for the both of them.

"Watch it, Sam," Jamie joked, passing by them.

"Oops."

"He's kidding," Torunn assured him, "It's good to see you, my friend."

"You too, sis," Sam replied.

He also greeted the others, having already met them at the Stark Cabin when they celebrated being together again after "the Blip".

"Well, is everyone ready to go?"

"All good," Jamie replied.

"Alrighty then, here we go!" Sam jumped up to the pilot chair and started the quinjet up.

As he did, everyone else took their seats. Torunn took hers next to Jamie and the two held hands. They were truly happy to be together again.

Outside the ship, Thor, Jane, and Erik watched as the quinjet slowly began to rise and hover above them before taking off into the evening sky.

As it flew away, they waved at the ones inside. And inside, Torunn waved back. Though she was temporarily leaving this part of her family, she was on her way and looking forward to reconnecting with her new family.
