I don't know if the Council of Wise Men are also called sages, so I used sage to refer to them, I also dont know too much about the politics of Lugunica or how some of the characters in this chapter are gonna act in reality. So if i missed or made an incorrection tell me
[2 Hours before The Judgement Day]
A rich clown was awake late at night, sitting in his room under the blue light, with a big grin on his face, while reading his favorite book given by a woman 400 years ago.
"Hm?" The clown suddenly notice something unsettling in the book he was reading
His book was slowly burning from the corner of the page
He immediately tried to kill the fire by slapping it, but no matter what, it kept burning.
"No, No, NO!"
He started to go into a fit of rage in a fraction of a second when he realized that he couldn't put out the fire that suddenly started to burn the entire book..
he continued to slap the book to put out the fire, and from slapping went to smacking, but it was useless.
He had to drop it to the ground as it was also burning him, and he watched the book engulfed in flames, confused and angry at the same time.
However, it suddenly stopped burning in an instant.
It was completely intact, there were no ashes or burns
His rage ceased as he saw the book stop burning and it was still intact, but his confusion still remained
He hesitantly picked up the book and opened it.
unlike what one would expect a burnt book to leave ashes, dust, and other fire residues.
All pages were intact, but that wasn't the rich clown's concern.
The real issue that he saw, was that all the text that was written.. was all gone.. No text at all, not even a word..
He looked blankly at a page, confused, he was thinking what could have happened.
And then it printed a message on the same page the rich clown was blankly staring.
As soon he noticed this, he intently stared at the text printing from above to below with excessive focus.
It shifted continually as if it changes in countless languages, it was somewhat hard to look at, but he continued to stare.
And when it finished printing, it was a language that he understood, it was lugnica language, and then he read the text.
..
Two hours.
The Judgement will begin
ready or not
they will ascend from the clouds
Prepare before the trumpets sing
as they will fertilize the ground in red
until the end of the day.
..
"What is the meaning of this? Why it's a riddle?" He questioned the text, and he read it twice to be sure he wasn't hallucinating, but he understood the message
Although he wasn't really alarmed, he understood that it was something very dangerous to prepare against.
He closed the book and walked out of the door, with an expression too serious for a clown.
A loli made out of magic sat in a library and read her blank book like usual, but there was a sudden shift in the atmosphere as if the mana around her was starting to act up for some reason, she looked around herself.
She could feel some kind of mana signature in the books, but she couldn't quite grasp what was that magic, it was a feeling that she has never felt before.
She closed the book that she was staring blankly with a loud thump.
Stood up and picked one of the books out of the bookshelves, and she opened it.
Her eyes opened wide
the text was burning leaving it blank, she closed the book and put it back on the bookshelves.
She sat back down and looked at the book she was reading, all the pages were blank, she looked there as if she was expecting some kind of message.
She waited, but there was no message...
Until a text instantly appeared in front of her eyes in the page she was looking.
..
Two hours.
The Judgement will begin
ready or not
they will ascend from the clouds
Prepare before the trumpets sing
as they will fertilize the ground in red
until the end of the day.
..
"Maybe is them the person that Betty has been waiting for all this time?" She asked, heartache in her started to pry away.
She turned the previous page, it was the same message.
Then tried to turn all the pages, but they had the same message on all the pages that she opened.
Then turned to the next pages, and the same thing.
But she closed the book
But then stood up, and walked out of the door, into the corridor
And then stared out of the window to observe the clouds
"Ascend from the clouds?" She questioned
Then she heard chains and footsteps closing on her, she looked in the direction where the sound was coming.
It soon showed up a rich clown from the darkness
"My, my, Beatrice, I have been seaaaarchinnnngggg for youuuuu~" The clown said to her in his usual manner
"What are you doing up so late" The loli asked him
"weeeellll, I assume you also read what the book said?" The clown asked seriously in a blink of an eye
She didn't respond, she just simply looked back at the clouds
A foolish medieval terrorist rests under the sky, looking at the moon, while at the same time, he reads his book gifted by a precious witch.
He impulsively reads every single page and he turns the pages so fast it looks like he's not even reading them.
But suddenly, he stopped. He looked at his text confused. The text in the book started to burn, and he watches as the text burns away.
"MY WITCH! PLEASE NOO! MY ONLY TESTAMENT FOR MY LOVE!" As he arched back looking at the book
"WHAT I HAVE DONE TO DISPLEASE YOU! PLEASE TELL ME!" he yelled as he saw the text burning away into nothing
He cried as the text was burning away, into a completely blank page.
But seconds after a new text started to slowly fade in, and it created intelligible words
"THANK YOU! MY WITCH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK Y-" He read the text, it wasn't what he expected, but it was still proof that her love was still present for him
However, he read whatever there was written.
..
The Judgement Day.
Ally with your fellows, as they are your salvation.
Prepare before they arrive
as they will paint the land red
until the day ends
..
"Eh...?" He read at the riddle confused
"What?" He said plainly
a man who entertains his multiple wives.
a lewd shapeshifter slept in the middle of the night.
a foolish and hopeless woman wrapped in bandages scavenged through the night in an attempt to find her true love.
A gluttonous man and his brother and sister slept under the sky.
They were all different; they had different dreams and motives to do what they do, they lived in different ways, and they lived in different places
However, there is something they have in common is that they always carry their precious book with them, as if leaving it somewhere else was a sin.
They all, despite being in different places and not in contact with each other, had the urge to open their precious book.
And so they did, even if it meant stopping whatever they were doing or even stopping sleeping.
They all simultaneously opened the book, and their text completely changed. It was now another message, but all other riddles were gone as if they never existed.
and this only riddle was all they could read
..
The Judgement Day.
Ally with your fellows, as they are your salvation.
Prepare before they arrive
as they will paint the land red
until the day ends
..
They all had different reactions from each other to that information, some had to read it multiple times to understand what it meant
but they were pretty much confused, as the unexpected message came out of nowhere.
An old man, who had a white beard so long that it looked like it dragged on the ground, that was given the title of Sage and given the duty to control the country of lugunica in the absence of the king, woke up with the urge to read his Dragon tablet.
He rose up from his slumber, he dressed up, he surely doesn't want to walk in the corridor naked, even though there was no one, ignited a torch, and made his way into the long corridors toward the place where he always store his dragon tablet.
as he made his way in the long corridors, he questioned why all of a sudden he had the urge to check the dragon table, but with no answers, he continued to do as his mind urged.
He finally arrived at his destination, as he opened the door, he walked in and closed the gap between him and the dragon table.
He had to read whatever was written on it but noticed there was something odd.
He noticed immediately what was written suddenly changed, it was constantly morphing into different languages and fonts, it was kind of unsettling, seeing the dragon table forming words right in front of his eyes in such an unusual manner.
"How? I just read it before going to sleep... Why out of a sudden.." The old man wondered out loud, but at last, it formed an intelligible message.
..
Two hours.
The Judgement Day will begin
the country will shatter
the people will rest forever
your mere existence will be forgotten.
Awake the Sword of the Kingdom, as he is one of your salvation
The dragon will be awakened, as per his contract, to aid in defending the land from external threats.
Indomitable and un-merciful, the landscape will be decorated with corpses.
Newborns to Elders
Women and men
Allies and Enemies
Serfs to Emperors
And not even the dead it's safe from them.
The army will descend from the clouds, stepping into your land without permission,
to deliver its will.
Prepare before they blow their trumpets,
as they will fertilize the ground in red
until the day ends.
..
The old man was immediately alarmed, this was definitely an emergency, as soon he finished reading this, he sprinted down the corridors as much as his elderly body allowed him to send emergency messengers to the commander, the candidates, and the Sword Saint.
As he strolls down the corridor, he was obviously running out of breath in no time, but he did eventually arrive.
He tried to open the door but it was locked,
so he started to violently knock on the door like a madman, and after seconds.
"Who's there!?" Someone asked through the door
"It's me! I have a message for you to deliver with the utmost urgency!" The old man yelled through the door
The messenger apparently recognized the voice, and so the door had an audible unlocking mechanism,
a messenger opened the door, with sleeping clothes and apparently still dizzy assuming he just woke up a few seconds ago.
"To whom and what message?" The messenger asked (Idk if they have messengers, i know they usually send magic letters, but since this is a medieval setting, messengers should be also something that exists, so those messengers is entirely an OOC)
"Call the other messengers to aid you, say this to the commander, the candidates, and the sword saint to come immediately no matter what! to the royal palace at once!" He said it in a frenetic manner and almost yelled at the messenger
"Got it, just wait a moment" The messenger said
He closed the door, and he was starting to dress up since he was just in pajama
the old man opened the door and yelled at him
"There is no time to dress up! Hurry up! The country will go in flames if we're not fast enough!"
"Is it that bad? Alright" The messenger heard him, and so he just wore a formal t-shirt, pants, and shoes, while not exactly the messenger's articles of clothing, it was still presentable
The messenger took a torch from his table and lighted it up, and started sprinting down the hallway, and he was gone in the darkness, only the flame of the torch was visible
The old man was thinking about what to do now
'I should call the other sages too' And he walked down the hallway as fast as he can.
Khan was sleeping, along with Wolperionen beside him, under the clouds and the darkness of the night
And as usual, he constantly dreamt, Wolperionen too constantly dreamt multiple times during the night.
Although when they awake he won't remember them
Dream, dream, nightmare, then dream, random thing and it goes on continuously.
However, those projections were soon interrupted, out of nowhere.
Then there was a familiar but at the same time unfamiliar figure, it had a white and bright cloak with a hood, a golden chain in front of its neck, and a golden star on its face that acted as a mask, the entity had a pair of floating hands reaching out for him, as to embrace him.
But it was visible only for a split second because the dream became pitch black, unintelligible mumblings.
Then for another split second he saw Crusch, Wilhelm, Felix, Wolperionen, and the silhouette of Crusch's soldier in the background, disintegrating from toes to the head, leaving only the skeletal structure behind, they were also in a position of agony, having their arms flapping in the air and looking up, as to try to escape from inevitable death, along with collective screams of agony of everyone.
And it turned pitch black with unintelligible mumblings again.
Then it showed himself, lying on the ground limbless, as a humanoid figure that resembled the author in many ways, the only thing was that it had a body of a human and it had no square mask, just simply pitch black, the hooded figure walked in closed, while a Viking axe in it's right hand, and it swang down Khan's throat.
But before that could happen Khan woke up, he was feeling fear, and terror, he was steaming and sweating too, so he opened the sleeping bag to receive some fresh, cold air.
And his breath was slow and terrified, as he could hear his own heartbeat. He tried to sit up from his sleeping position, slowly but steadily.
As he tried to reach out for the armor that was beside him, apparently for some fresh night water, but he noticed that his hand was pretty shaky, as if he dodged a bullet to the head.
He definitely remembered that dream.
'What the fuck? it's been a long time since I felt the fear of death, I thought that I was old enough that I did not fear death anymore' he thought to himself
'Well, probably, I'm still not in the weakening phase of a beastman's life' he thought to himself again
As he continued to observe his shaky hand, he remembered the discomfort of the sweat and the odor on himself.
'She should really install that shower ASAP'
But despite the terrified state, he tried to continue sleeping.
[5 minutes later]
He was lying down on his sleeping bag, he had his eyes closed, but he couldn't sleep at all or rest.
The image of them disintegrating into dust, leaving only the skeletons behind, and himself imagining being beheaded and totally limbless, kept him at night.
'Shit... I can't sleep' He thought
So he instead came to the idea to do something else, as he stood up, he looked up at the sky, it was pitch black.
He looked back down, he looked around himself, and he could see clearly in the darkness, he saw Wolperionen still sleeping, and he just stood there for a few seconds contemplating what to do.
But he did have an idea, Felix gave him additional books yesterday to read. So he walked where the armor was to retrieve the book.
As he walked there, took the book from the armor, he opened the book to read it. But there was something weird, it was completely blank, Khan tried to turn pages left and right, but it was the same thing, completely blank, so he just closed the book, totally lost interest.
But suddenly there were fire sparkles, as soon Khan noticed this he immediately threw the book far away.
The book tripped a few times on the ground, and when it lost its momentum it was laying on the ground, the book was wide open, and the sparkle stopped
Khan looked at the book from the distance, it was forming text, and it morphed into countless languages in a fraction of a second, but it finally stopped, and it was a language that Khan was well familiar with, it was German, the language that Khan knew for his entire life, but from far away, he couldn't read it at all.
He picked up the helmet from the cubic armor and put it on his head, and ordered it to zoom his eyesight.
He now had a clear view of the book, and he read the message.
Prepare yourself
As Judgement Day is about to begin
In two Hours
"This doesn't look like the context of the book Felix gave me" Khan said
Can couldn't figure out anything, as whatever is written there was too vague.
He read the text multiple times, he had no idea what is the meaning of 'Judgement Day' or what it was even about
'It's like reading those badly made stories, gives so little context that its hard to understand' Khan thought to himself
"I thought he remembered what is Judgement Day" StarKeeper said
"Can't you make it much clearer? Those are basically shit-ass riddles" Author said as he faced the flat world, with 4 pair of hands, majestically spinning around the flat world he was looking at
"Well, I wished, but any kind of my message I send to mortals becomes a riddle or majestic writing"The StarKeeper said
"it's also based on what they are reading it, the more powerful that book, the clearer the riddle. Sometimes it can even be a direct message if that book is powerful enough"
"Like the first books that humans wrote down when they were first introduced to that world?"
"Yeah- HEY! Shouldn't you be worried about me trying to stop you?!"
"Ah, I don't give a crap, I activated Judgement Day and were in the preparation phase, and you can't stop me no matter how many overpowered rules you got on me" Author said
"Sigh, right" StarKeeper said
"Did you literally say Sigh?" Author pointed out
But after he thought of that, the text started to burn away, and after it was all burnt away, leaving only a blank page, and then it was back in the forming text stage.
it was morphing in countless languages, and it made a message.
Hero of all Beastman
Your duty has not ended once you have stepped into those lands
As the judgment day starts
The heroes will take their stand
to-
But there was the voice man screaming at the top of his lungs, calling out for somebody, in front of Crusch's gate
"CRUSCHHH! THERE'S AN EMERGENCY! CRUSCH! SOMEBODY ANSWER ME!" The man yelled
Wolperionen woke up and Khan stopped reading whatever it was in the book and his attention was now the yelling man.
Khan upon hearing the screaming man, slowly walked towards the source of the sound.
While Wolperionen was starting to stand up and started to catch up to Khan.
As Khan approaches closer and closer, the yelling man was repeating the same time over and over.
But eventually, Khan reached the gate.
"Who's there?" Khan said out loud
"IM THE MESSENGER-" He stopped and took another breath
"IM THE MESSENGER OF THE ROYAL CASTLE!"
"THE CRUSCH CAMP MUST ATTEND IMMEDIATELY-"
"IMMEDIATELY IN THE ROYAL CASTLE!"
The man yelled
"Royal capital?" He repeated to himself
"Why?" he asked out loud to the man
"IT'S AN EMERGENCY! JUST DO IT!" The man responded back
"Well, I guess, it doesn't cost me any-" Khan said
"CCCRUUUUSSSSHHHH" Khan roared until his call was simply a roar of a beast at the same earrape volume when he orders his soldiers around
In the meanwhile, Wolperionen covered his ears as he cringed at Khan's earrape.
This, not only woke up Crusch but also woke everybody else, even the people sleeping in the houses nearby the camp woke up.
Khan observed as he finished his roar, he saw soldiers, Wilhelm, and Felix only peeking out from the window of their rooms instead of coming out, obviously, it was night, and it was dangerous to come out, as their vision isn't as excellent as Khan at night time.
he slowly stepped closer to the mansion
"There is a man that claims he's a messenger from the royal castle!" Khan yelled to the mansion
"He demands to come to the royal castle now!"
He waited for some seconds, but the people peeking through the window moved away from the window and they were gone
'I hope they understood what I said' Khan thought to himself
As he walked closer and closer, he was now in front of the mansion's door
But soon enough Crusch was the first to burst out from the mansion's door, torch in hand and without her usual business clothing, just pajama
"What's the matter? Why did he want us to go to the royal castle now?" Crusch asked
Soon enough Wilhelm came out from the door with just a mostly unbuttoned formal t-shirt and pants, and a sword in its sheath in his left hand.
"I don't know, it was a man, he claimed that it was an emergency though" Khan said
"An emergency? I guess we don't have that much time" Crusch said while starting to walk toward the gate
In the meanwhile, Felix came out of the door with just random clothing.
"Hold on Crusch Sama, I will not let you go alone, it could be anyone, it could be an assassin using a cheap method to lure you out" Wilhelm said holding her by her shoulder
"Let me accompany you" He said
"Granted, I'll rely on you if this is just an assassin" Crusch said
So, all of them started to walk towards the gate, although Wolperionen and Khan were a bit left behind.
When they eventually reached the gate, she and the others walked in front of the iron-barred door
"Identify and show yourself, and then we will talk!" Crusch shouted
The man walked in front of the other side of the iron-barred door
"I am the messenger of the royal capital! You must come immediately! The sage said it was an absolute urgency!"
The messenger shouted and at the same time he neared the torch that he had in his hands closer to his face
"He has only a formal t-shirt and pants, he doesn't look like he holds any weapon, but the weapon might be behind his back" Wilhelm whispered into Crusch's ear
"Right" Crusch replied
"What proof do you have that you are the messenger of the royal capital!" Crusch shouted at the messenger
"Oh, the by the dragons!" The messenger said apparently in frustration
He ran into the darkness, then a second later, they heard a metal pipe coming out of a hole.
Then the man came back
"This is the royal capital flag! I came here by carriage! It's an emergency! Come now!" The messenger yelled
"He seems an actual messenger, I suggest opening the doors for him, but I'll go first" Wilhelm whispered to her
Crusch nodded
So Wilhelm walked first, and opened the door, as he walked through the small hallway, and reached the other side, and he slowly opened the door, the messenger made a few steps behind.
"Finally you all came out, come on, the sages are waiting for you all" The messenger said while holding the flag of the royal capital
He walked back and put the flag back where it was supposed to be, he slid it back into the flag holder hole of the carriage.
Wilhelm looked at the carriage lighted up by 4 torches, one torch on each corner, he looked at every detail that the carriage had... Golden, majestic and it had 2 flags of the royal capital on both sides of the carriage, and he looked at the earth dragon that pulls the carriage.. and instead of one or two earth dragons pulling the carriage, there were 8 earth dragons.
It was like it needed to pull an excessive amount of people
Now that he looked more clearly, There were also extra 2 wagons attached to the carriage in a line, presumably to carry even more men and supplies, thus explaining the reason for needing 8 dragons to pull
But most importantly it had the stamp of the messengers on the carriage
"This seems a real messenger, I doubt it's an assassin" Wilhelm said out loud to the people behind him
In the meanwhile, some of the Crusch's soldiers came out from the door with their swords in their hands.
"Come on! Get on the carriage!" The messenger hurried them to get on the carriage
But before they climbed on the carried, they heard two voices from the skies
"I wanna also come" "Me too"
They all looked up, it was simply Khan and Wolperionen crawling the walls of the gate, it seems Khan was now fully armored.
"Kaan? Wolperionen?" Crusch said
"Well, the gates were closed, so instead of mashing through I simply climbed it" Khan said while coming down from the walls, and assisting Wolperionen in coming down too.
"Hey! Get a move on! On the carriage now!" The messenger once again yelled at them
"Alright, Felix close the door, and let's go"
So Felix closed the iron-barred door, and they finally did and got on the carriage, and they sat down in the carriage's seats but they did not start moving.
"Wait what about us?" Khan said while pointing at himself
Wolperionen and Khan were standing there
"Well, whatever just sit on the two wagons" The messenger said
And so Khan lied down on the extra carriage, and Wolperionen laid down on the other extra carriage, and the messenger swang down the leash so hard that it looked like he whipped them, and the earth dragons started running
...
After a few minutes, Crusch had a question for the messenger
"What is this about? Why there is an emergency?" Crusch asked the Messenger
"I don't know, but the sage has run all the way to my door just to tell me that there is needed you all in the royal capital as fast as possible" The messenger replied
"Oh, and I apologize for the harshness of my words before, but it's an emergency" Messenger apologized to them
"No offense taken" Crusch said
The carriage was quiet for a while, but Wilhelm had also another question
"If I may ask, why did you bring such a heavy-duty carriage? You could have used a conventional carriage to come and pick us up" Wilhelm asked
"Well, yeah, I also would have picked up a conventional carriage as you said, but the other messengers took the other carriages and left me only this bulky carriage" The messenger said
Then Crusch saw the implications
"Other messengers? Where did they go?" Crusch asked
"Well, they are going to the commander, the sword saint, and the candidates to bring them to the royal capital" The messenger said
Crusch was absorbing the information.
"WHAT!?" Crusch and Wilhelm scream in unison
"Why they are making us see the other candidates!?" Crusch said
"The candidates aren't supposed to meet each other before the Royal Selection" Wilhelm said calmly
The messenger didn't answer them, as he looked back and forth while keeping his lip shut
"Why!?" Crusch asked again while standing up to look closer at the Messenger
And then she asked the same thing again, even more aggressively and closer.
The messenger was visibly becoming more agitated
And she asked 'Why' once again, but then;
"I DON'T KNOW!" The messenger shouted up close to her face, Wilhelm perked up a bit in case the thing went south
"I don't know! Alright? I don't know.." The messenger finally said while backing up a little, his breathing was a bit out of breath, judging from his heavy breathing
"Sorry.. for my rudeness" The messenger said quietly as he turned back to the road, while calming his breath for a bit.
in the meanwhile Wilhelm sat back down
Crusch looked at him for a moment for any lies, then she sighed, as she backed down and sat on her seat
"Alright, I guess I'll find out for myself when we are there" Crusch said with sharp eyes
[10 minutes later]
They finally arrived in front of the doors of the royal castle, the commander was standing in front of the door, and the group walked closer to the commander.
The commander looked at them.
Crusch was a bit worried about entering the Royal Castle in a pajama, at least she has shoes, in the royal castle.
"You are Crusch Karsten, the royal candidate, I am correct?" The man asked ignoring her unsuitable clothing
"I am, Crusch Karsten the candidate for the throne" Crusch said
The commander looked at them but then looked up and back down at them
"Those two demi-humans are with you?" The commander said
"Yes, they are my new soldiers" Crusch confirmed
"weapons aren't allowed, you have to keep them here" The commander pointed at Khan.
"Also, butlers aren't allowed inside" he reminded her
"Alright, I guess" Khan said while detaching the sheath of their sword, and placing it perpendicularly on a wall, it allowed it to stay like that
Wilhelm obviously stayed in the same place, as the commander did not allow him to enter
As the group walked inside, Wolperionen stayed outside on his will, as if he hesitated about entering.
He did have a sheath but he didn't have a sword in it, so it wasn't about breaking the rules.
The door was surely big enough to let him enter, even Khan walked through, so it wasn't a matter of the door being too tiny.
As she opened the door, the amount of brightness blinded her, as if it was the difference between night and day.
As her eyes adjusted to the brightness of the room, she looked around.
And she became somewhat relieved, not even all royal knights are properly clothed, some of them are still in pajamas, few of them are just enough presentable, fewer of them only have a portion of their uniform, and only 2 of them, and Reinhard had the full royal knight uniform, and one person that didn't look like a royal knight, but he stood in their ranks.
But one thing they all have in common is that they have their swords with them no matter the amount of clothing.
As she stepped more into the room, she continued to walk forward, the sages were sitting on their seats.
she looks over the sages
'Shouldn't Sages be the last one to enter the room?" She asked herself
'Maybe because it's an emergency, so they skipped the social norms'
As she continued to walk, she eventually reached in front of the sages, the spot where she must stand in front of the sages as she was taught.
'It seems I'm the first to arrive' as she couldn't see anybody else different that could hint them as a royal candidate
As she waited, she looked around and waited for more, five minutes have past
She looked over the sages, it seem they all had the time to wear their clothing, but one sage in particular, Miklotov, was visibly becoming impatient, even though she knew him as a patient and intelligent man.
In the meanwhile, the other sages were looking at each other, looking confused about the situation.
'it seems like Miklotov knows what is going on, and it seems like whatever is going on it's not good at all, seeing how agitated he is' as Crusch's eye observed
Then after 3 minutes, the doors behind her opened, Wolperionen was still there, and a woman walked inside, it was a woman with purple hair and a minuscule, hour-glass shaped body, she only wore clothing made out of fur that only covered the torso and legs, and it looked so tight that she probably would have a hard time running.
And beside her, there was Julius, which was fully clothed and armed, although Julius didn't look very fine he was somewhat sleepy.
'She must be Anastasia Hoshin, known for being the greatest merchant' Crusch thought to herself
Another two minutes passed, and another presumable candidate entered the room, she had silver hair, pointy ears, and purple eyes, and she wore a long, yellow cloak that basically covered her entire body except for the shoes.
Probably the fastest thing to wear before she went out, and beside her there was Roswaal L Mather with a big grin on his face
'She's another candidate? She looks capable, but it seems that she won't be exactly liked by the public, considering her appearance, also, the clown beside her, that must be Roswaal L Mather, known to be the strongest magic caster in the entire kingdom' Crusch thought
After another 3 minutes, there was no one coming.
After another 6 minutes, there was still no one coming
Then the sage who called them here lost his patience, and he opened his mouth
"it seems the last known candidate won't come, we will start without them then" Miklotov said
As everyone perked up to listen to what the sage had to say in this emergency meeting, they all looked up to him, even the other sages and the commander.
"As the reason for calling you all here, it is because the Dragon Table has written a warning, that is about to come in a little more than an hour and half" Mikolotov said calmly
"It is an army that is about to threaten the Kingdom, and I believe it's a threat.."
Miklotov paused his speech, as if not knowing what to say
"The Dragon table said that it's an army that would shatter our entire land, along with the people"
The room was still quiet, but everybody slightly opened their eyes.
"And as we talk, they are approaching, and we called you all here to tell you all to prepare, as this is an emergency of the entire kingdom"
"The dragon table said that it's gonna start in two hours, and the army will come, and once they take a step in lugunica, blood will be spilled, and they will spare no one, they will kill men, women, children, elders- everything"
The room was still quiet, but there was a heavy atmosphere, as one of the most powerful men (council men of wise) in the kingdom other than the king was being frenetic
"It even said to wake up the sword saint, and the dragon will come to our aid"
The people who attended started to look at each other for a brief moment
Then the room became quiet for a few seconds, which was like an eternity for them, but then, somebody spoke up
"Then what are we waiting for! We are doing this emergency meeting and wasting time instead of arming our men to defeat them? We can counterattack them before they even arrive in Lugunica" Crusch said
"Yes, Crusch, I agree with what you say" Miklotov said
"Then-" Crusch tried to speak but she was soon cut off by a sentence
"But. We cannot, this army comes from the skies, and no one of us can fly except for Roswaal L Mathers" Miklotov said
The people who heard that were kind of shocked
'What kind of army is that?!' Everyone collectively thought to themselves
"Sage, do you know which country this army comes from?" Crusch asked
"No, I do not, the tome did not describe anything about their identity other than what they are gonna do" Miklotov said
Crusch opened her mouth
"I think the best course of action is to simply alert the entire country about it, and start arming the men and wait for them to come" Crusch was interrupted
"I don't think it's something we can defeat that easily, especially when it was the Dragon Table to alert us about that, The Dragon Table has never given us a warning about a war, it always only gave us warning of the most destructive threats, such as the Great Famine or the Nightmare of Blight Dragon Balgren, and it said the dragon is only gonna 'aid' us, we also don't even know how powerful is this army." The sage answered and made a put emphasis on that 'aid'
"And this disaster that is about to occur is called.."
The sage made a short suspense so the room could remember his next words
"The Judgement Day" Miklotov said
Once the sage was done talking, they were obviously looking at Crusch because they expected an answer, but she turned her head around and looked straight at Khan, who was standing behind her
And Khan looked back at her, Crusch could feel the 'What' coming from him, and then she spoke
"Kaan-sama, do you know anything about this?" Crusch asked him
Then room's attention changed to Khan.
"No" Khan simply answered
Crusch turned around but-
"However, I think I read once a book that is called The Testament of the Judgement Day, I think I found it in some kind of church, and I took it with me once the land was of beastmen's property"
"I think have it in my backpack, somewhere" Khan said, in the meanwhile he disengaged his backpack from his back and started to search through it
"Do you have everything in your backpack?" Crusch kind of whispered to him
"Most Beastmen are nomads, so we pack everything on our back" Khan answered despite the fact that she basically whispered it
After a while, he finally brought out an item, it was a pretty small book compared to Khan, as it was human-sized, and Khan held it like those books that Felix gives him, and he started reading, but it wasn't that the main thing, the main thing is that, they somehow felt a lot of magical power in that book, but it felt weird.
"Judgment Day, the day God judges the physical and mind strength"
The sages leaned in closer to listen better
Khan activated the translator of his helmet to translate his much better, and clearer throat, as if he's gonna read that again
Judgment Day
The day when the Wrath of God falls upon us
The age of reckoning violence, when the beasts were rampant and un-merciful.
The god, not satisfied with their sadism, has sent the horde of death, to fulfill his enjoyment.
The Judgement Day started, they were un-domitable and un-merciful
As their hoods and cloaks hid their identity and their trumpets created terror upon humanity and whatever it faced.
None could stand against the horde, but, in the despair of humanity's last tears;
An Overlord! A creature of unmeasurable might and wisdom has emerged.
She, with the fury of countless men, fought the army of the abyss.
As she continued to fight, the army of the abyss grew swift and unrelenting.
Driving her, humanity and all the other animals brought them to the corners of the world.
As the tired beasts, humans, and the overlord.
Fought to their teeth for 23 hours
Beastmen Kings, Beastmen, Humans, tripods, titan wolves, Titan deers, War elephants, and so many other species;
Fought until their teeth fell out of their mouth, their claws were dull, their muscles ripped apart, and spears were broken
Until the sudden army of the abyss stopped.
And the clouds became normal, but the clouds started to spin around themself, and it opened a giant portal.
From that, emerged out...
A SQUARE! And it descended down from the sky
Towards their prey
As it flew closer, no one could fight anymore, everybody was laying on the ground
was either shredded apart, exhausted, or just in imminent death,
this was their executioner, the one who would free them from death
However, one stood
The Overlord stood up, as her aching and tired body, didn't allow her to walk
but with little power, she had left, stood, against certain death
But the flying square formed a hole in itself, and as the trumpet sounded louder, it shot a thin beam at the overlord's neck
The Overlord has died, as her head flew among the other dead bodies, and the body falls down, joining with the others.
...
...
However, it did not end there.
As the body of the overlord fell
A glow, a light, a beacon.
Started to light up on the chest of the Overlord
In the darkness, and despair, the beauty of the light coming from the overlord's chest
It was like the light at the end of the tunnel, the beheaded overlord stood up again, even without a head.
And her head flew back into place, this time, fury has once again refueled the overlord.
As the Gem Of The Gods, with all its fury into the Overlord, She roared strong enough to disperse the clouds.
Through her rage, she jumped towards the Great Champion, with great power and it melted under her supreme might
As the Great Champion melted, the army of darkness also melted as her might was even more unmeasurable.
As soon the 24 Hour hit the mark, the army of darkness, as retreated back where they came from, and they never came back.
As the overlord stopped fighting, she crawled on the ground and started vomiting a transparent substance.
And the voice of her vomiting as she did that, heartbreaking.
And she finally laid on the ground, to rest forever...
And her gem, the powerhouse of her body, shattered, into a million pieces.
And lost her life, slowly turning into dust like the gem.
However, the scribes and the artists that did not participate in the battle hurried up to her and drew her face, and described everything about her
And thus, The valiant death of the Overlord and this cruel day
shall be remembered
for all eternity.
Then Khan closed the book as if he finished reading it.
Everybody in the room had emotions that were indescribable, the best way to describe it is if it was an animated cartoon, their jaw would drop to the floor, and their tongue would roll until it was outside the walls of the capital.
"You are named, Kaan, right?" The coughed, and the sage asked him, gaining composure back.
"Let me ask you something, where did you come from? And where did you get that book?" The sage asked him curious
'Oh well, there goes the cover' he looked at Crusch, she had a slightly concealed emotion
'Yeah that's the human's 'Oh shit I messed this up' face' Khan thought to himself
'Annddd, looks like lying won't be of use, even if she wanted me to lie, Reinhard is here.'
There was silence for a few seconds
"Well, you know what, it doesn't matter now, there is an emergency about an army of darkness that is gonna fight us until we are at the corners of the waterfall" Miklotov said
"I think we got enough information on them, and we can act accordingly to their might" He said as he stood up.
"We're gonna arm every single man with weapons and armor! Every royal knight must also wear armor! Every guard, recruit or anybody that fights starts warming up to fight! Reinhard, distribute the weapons and armor and tell them what is going on" Miklotov said
There was a brief confusion, but they all got it in the end.
Then the knights and Julius too started to disperse assuming they went away to warm up to fight, Reinhard went back and forth at supersonic speeds, and the commander walked out of the door, presumably to call every guard to warm up.
[40 MINUTES BEFORE THE JUDGMENT DAY]
The citizen were all informed, and most of them were armed and armored, the wives and Children stayed at home, as they watch their father being drafted away.
Some of the wives even tried to fight against it, but it was useless in the end, as their husband was still taken away.
Some of them cried, thinking their love are gonna die.
A handful of them tried to beg Reinhard to let their husband stay at home, but Reinhard heart-achingly refused the request and still took them away.
And few of them straight up didn't care.
And their children? Same thing as the wives minus the last fact.
Some men also tried to refuse, but they were still taken away
Some of them tried to escape, but they were too slow
A few of them tried to beg Reinhard not to take them
One of them started to throw appas at Reinhard, only for him to dodge them all
But the rest quietly accepted it.
As the men got taken away, and armed. They questioned what was going on, why the knights can't do it on their own, and Why they are being taken away, some thought they were getting arrested.
As they informed they were going to war, and the entire country was being moved, and this is an army that no one can imagine.
Even the slums and the nobility were involved, and it was pretty much the same thing as all the above.
Although the nobility was harder to take them away, one way or the other, they were taken away, except for the candidates and the sages though.
[20 MINUTES BEFORE JUDGEMENT DAY]
As the army of militia, royal knights, guards, nobility, and gut ratters were all concentrated in one spot.
As they were armored in armor and swords. Normally it would be dangerous having so many armed people in one spot, but they were informed that in a war in every single man must participate, no matter the race or position. And the war will be against an army that is the same might as the sword saint, and just hope their brotherhood unites them, ignoring their differences.
So, in conclusion, there were all sorts of things in the mix; demi-humans, humans, beasts, and earth dragons, armed to the bone.
BUT suddenly something weird happened.. A weird sound and a wall came out of the ground in a spot that wasn't infested with the militia, just right behind Khan and Wolperionen and Crusch's camp.
It was a spiraling picture inside of it, hard to describe. But suddenly out of it, came out a handful of knight-looking people on mounts.
One of them had a flag attached to his back, like a banner, and he was on a mount that was unknown to everyone, and out of all the armored knights, he was the only one without a helmet, showing that he was the one in charge or he's very confident, but he must be the one in charge since he was in the center of all the other the armored knights
But oh well, Khan and Wolperionen knew very well who those knights were..
"c'est exactement ce que j'attendais" The light-brown man that had black iron bars as eyebrows said out loud while looking around.
"Oh! Il semble qu'il y ait des visages familiers" The man said while looking at Khan and Wolperionen
"Hey hold the fuck up, I thought you couldn't send anyone to another world" Author said to Starkeeper
"You thought?" StarKeeper and he would have a smug face on himself if he had one
"Well, whatever, send whatever you want, your not gonna ruin this" Author said
"Bet, typical over-confident villain behavior, seek help ED" Starkeeper replied while gesturing with his hands
"What?" Author said
"Stop speaking to me in France" Khan said, seemingly about to burst into anger judging from the fact he was nearly growling, Wolperionen was just about to attack them
"Calm the fuck down you both-Overlord Attack magic: Fighting-will-exterminate!" Saetang quickly said and while pointing his hand at him, the magic circle came, cast and fired the spell, and went away as soon it appeared
Then Khan and Wolperionen instantly stopped in their tracks and became neutral.
Now Khan and Wolperionen can't feel angry towards the Overlord anymore.
"Well, you might be asking, 'Oh, overlord, why are you wearing such heavy armor' you may ask. Judgment day is hard to even for the overlord to beat, along the testament still stands as is it, and I never experienced a Judgement in my entire life, so this is pretty exciting. Oh, and the Author was generous enough to make this portal that sent me here, it had even a sign that said 'Walk through the portal to fight the Judgement day' so, I immediately rallied my regular soldiers, Elites, Super soldiers, Heroes, and ultimate weapons. And now I'm here, and about this heavy armor, the heavy armor allows me to tank even the attacks of other Overlords, tested it with my brother-
then Crusch called Khan and asked him, in the meanwhile the Overlord was still talking in the background.
"Do you know them? What is he saying? I did not understand anything of what he said" Crusch asked him
"I know him, and I just described him to you yesterday... wait no, it's today, during dinner, you even saw an autograph of him. Do you remember the coin with the face of a man and the description of the Overlord I told you about?"
"Wait, you mean that's him!?" Crusch said shocked
"Yeah" Khan replied
"-Oh and don't get me wrong, I'm not here just to experience the Judgment day, I'm here also to defeat the Judgment day, not on your behalf or something, but because when we defeat the Judgement day, we also get rewards for beating it." The Overlord finally finished his monologue
"Rewards? The testament I read they didn't get any rewards" Khan said
"Well, that's because they didn't beat the Judgement Day, they got cornered very badly, which counted as a loss. The newer testament says if atleast 60% of the total population survives Judgment Day they will get the Indulgent Day as a reward, no one knows what is the reward though, so I'm gonna be the one who discovers that. Might be false tho, though in the course of all history there have been only 5 Judgment Days, and now it's 6! and like, that's so few compared to how long our history is, like, our history it's a 10 followed by 50 zeroes and-"
'Oh god. He sounded like an absolutely wise king when I was in the other world. And now he sounds like a total nerd' Khan thought to himself, in the meanwhile the overlord continued monologuing
"What are his intentions?" Crusch asked Khan out of nowhere
"Well, he's here to fight the Judgement day, not for us, but because beating the Judgement day will give them rewards, so that's the reason they are here" Khan replied
"I see, so they aren't here to help us, but to take the rewards in beating the Judgement day?" Crusch said
"Yeah" Khan replied
They now pretty much ignored the Overlord talking non-stop over the past 10 minutes
"He seems like he talks a lot, although i don't know what he's saying"
"Ah, don worry, whatever he's saying now it's hard to understand, the more he talks, the harder the subject becomes to understand, my ears basically deafen him out" Khan said
"Alright, anyways, it seems the battle is about to start in 10 minutes?" Crusch
Khan looked at his non-existent watch, then forgot that he didn't have a watch
"Yes" Khan replied to her
"We should have a speech before going into battle" Khan suggested
"Now, that I remember you are a candidate for the throne right? Why don't you go make a speech, they will remember you if they see you as an ideal hero" Khan said
"Agree, this might boost the chances of my election if we survive this" Crusch said, as she waited for a bit, to formulate to what to say.
Then a sparkle in her eye formed in her
And a smirk formed on her face
"Thank you Kaan" She said
She walked to the group of the militia-infested zone, took a crate, and place it in the middle of the crowd, Wilhelm also did the same thing, apparently to protect her in case one of the militias decided to do something weird.
As they both managed to put the crate and stand on it, Wilhelm and Crusch towered over the others.
Their faces were full of anxiety, fear, and confusion.
Yeah, those are simple citizens being dragged to fight
"LISTEN UP TO ME!" Crusch said out loud, her authoritative and commanding voice, was heard all the crowd, and they gradually got quieter and quieter. Until it was completely quiet
"Thank you for coming here whether you all wanted it or not. I will tell you now why you are all here, armed to the bone."
"You are here to fight. And here with you all, there aren't only citizens, merchants, cooks, and so on, but there are also royal knight, guards and even the members of nobility with you all" The crowd looked at each other as to see if the man beside them is a guard, royal knight or noble man
But suddenly one man in the militias said
"What is this madness! Why the knights can't deal it with on their own! Why does this war involve us too!" The man said out loud
In the meanwhile, there were many murmurs of agreement from the others
Then Crusch raised her hand, signaling the crowd to stop talking
"I also agree that citizens shouldn't be involved with wars, however, this is not a war to conquer a country or defend ourselves against another country"
"We are fighting against the army of god!"
The militias gasped all the same time, like those funny tv shows
"And they are gonna come from the sky, and they will slaughter us all like pigs! Without any mercy, stepping on our honor and flag" Crusch was starting to pick up her pace
"They are gonna walked over anything they step through, may it be a demi-human or a human, for them, it's just the red blood spilled on the ground that matters!"
The militias' fists started to turn into a ball, and they started to grind their teeth, for what they are gonna do to them.
"And do not worry about dying! As we have survived all the worst! The great Famine! the Witch rampage! The wars with other countries! The Nightmare of the blight dragon! All of them! So this is just another addition to that collection!"
Crusch said while unsheathing her sword, and she extended her sword perfectly horizontally to her right.
"SO! PEOPLE OF LUGUNICA! ARE WE GONNA KNEEL DOWN AND GROVEL AT HIS FEET LIKE PIGS, OR WE'RE GONNA STAND UP AND FIGHT HIS ARMY AND PROVE TO HIM THAT W- "
The militias didn't even let her finish her statement they started already cheering, and held up their weapon in the air
"WHAT DOES HE THINK-" "THAT SON OF A BITCH SHAL-" "THEY ARE GONNA REGR-" "I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHIN-"
The militias continued to cheer so much, that probably even outside the kingdom was still audible.
'Damn, those people are awfully easy to convince' Khan thought to himself
[5 MINUTES BEFORE THE JUDGEMENT DAY STARTS]
The militias were now in high hopes and motivated, they were ready to mow down anything that dared to step on them.
As they all waited for the Judgement Day to start, a flapping of wings was heard, and everybody instinctively looked at the skies...
It was the Holy Dragon himself, The Dragon has come to defend them, per his contract.
"We can't lose this! The holy dragon has come to defend us!" Militia said in unison
Then the militias started to cheer obnoxiously loud like at the end of Crusch's speech again upon seeing the Holy Dragon hover upon them.
As the dragon flew in spirals, apparently searching for a spot to land, it finally found a spot not infested with militias
[1 MINUTE BEFORE THE JUDGEMENT DAY STARTS]
Khan, Wolperionen, Crusch, Felix, Wilhelm were grouped together
"No matter what happens, I will be at your side to protect you" Wilhelm said to her while bowing to her
"Ferrisu will stay at your side Crusch-sama! I will protect you from anything" Felix said while jumping beside her
Crusch looked at Khan and Wolperionen
"Got nothing to say to me? This might be the last time we see each other" Crusch asked them
"It was fun, I guess, and it will also be fun this trip that might be my last" Khan said while showing his bolt cannon
"I gun" Wolperionen said while showing his triple machine gun
Crusch smiled and looked at all of them
"Thank you all" Crusch said, with a face of complete gratitude
In the meanwhile, Crusch looked to her left, in complete horror.
It looked like the Overlord's army, and they had their own sort of ritual, they all looked goofy but she guess it was their own way to boost morale, even though they are literally giants compared to them, Crusch could tell the difference even from far away.

The clouds started to morph into holes with spiraling images in them, the night sky turned red and the moon became square.
Everyone instinctively looked up in the skies, and they were afraid of the horror they are seeing, but they kept in mind Crusch's words
'GROVEL AT HIS FEET LIKE PIGS OR WE STAND UP AGAINST HIM!'
Some militias even waved their sword in the air and started roaring. From one, turned into two, from two turned into four, from four turned into eight, and so on, everyone eventually roared at their heart's content.
[Play 'God's message from EVA'] (I don't know anything about EVA, I only know them through their songs LOL)
And they heard the trumpets roaring, it was so loud that it sounded like it was in their ears, and not only, so majestically, but yet so powerful and authoritative. As the army came down spiraling with their mounts, their appearance was a hooded entity with a black long cloak, and their face was invisible due to the fact of being pitch black, they had a chain in front of their neck, but curiously they did not have trumpets with them, it seems like something else is playing the trumpets, and their left arm was holding the mount, but the other arm was holding their sword, it was a dark flame-bladed sword.
And it looked like they took their sweet time ascending since they took 40 seconds to spiral down from the skies.
But they did eventually step on Lugunica terrain, however, they did not land at the center of the militia, but rather, they conventionally decided to deploy in front of the capital's walls, and they started to bang the walls.
The militia and the knights didn't waste any time and rushed to the walls to defend them, the Overlord's soldiers had abnormally long spears and they charged with them and burst through the gate, and those who had swords literally jumped inside the army of darkness, The overlord's army has barely started the battle and they were already suffering casualties, how crazy they are
And so the battle has begun!
Author: Note, they only heard the first 40 seconds of God's message soundtrack
