Monitoring Room (Day)

Dominic watched in amazement and confusion when Midoriya directed Bakugo's explosion upwards. 'Did he even survive that?' he wondered as All Might spoke into his earpiece.

"The Hero Team wins!" he declared, causing the other students to murmur among themselves.

"It's so weird. The losers are basically untouched, and the winners are on the ground." Kaminari said.

"They lost the battle, yet won the war." Tokoyami quoted, summing up the ending of the battle rather nicely.

All Might brought the combatants back to the monitoring room to discuss their performance, though Midoriya was absent because of his injuries. When Bakugo walked in, he was still shaken by the results of the match, his normal angry expression having been reduced to one of disbelief.

"Well, despite how this one went, the MVP of this match is Young Iida!" All Might said, surprising the boy.

"Shouldn't it be one of the heroes since they won the match?" Asui asked, voicing many of the others' opinions.

"Yes, why didn't I pick one of the winners? Who has a guess?" All Might asked.

Almost immediately after he finished his question, Yaoyorozu raised her hand. "Yes, Mr. All Might. Iida adapted most to the context of the training. From watching the match, it appears Bakugo acted on his own because of an obviously personal grudge. And as you said earlier, it is foolish to launch a large-scale attack indoors." Dominic decided to not ever tell her about when he and Cinderace used Max Flare in an underground plant when they fought Rose. "In the same way, taking into account the damage he received, Midoriya's plan was also rash." Or the time he and Charizard overused Flare Blitz against Wikstrom. "As for Uraraka, she let her guard down mid-battle, and her final attack was too reckless." Or ANY of Incineroar's battles. "If she treated the paper-mache as a real weapon, she would not have been able to do something so dangerous. Iida had prepared for his opponent's arrival and assumed a fight over the weapon, which made him late in responding to the final attack. The hero team only won because they took advantage of the fact that this was training. They were practically breaking the rules."

'She said more than I expected.' All Might said to himself. "Yes, well, Young Iida also has parts of him that could be more relaxed. But, anyway, you are correct!"

"One should always start with the basics to develop depth of learning. We must strive to devote ourselves wholeheartedly, otherwise, we can't become top heroes." Yaoyorozu finished, feeling proud of herself.

"Alright everyone, let's change locations and start the next match!" All Might said, standing in front of the ballot boxes again. "The next teams will be: Team B as the heroes and Team I as the villains!"

'Team I. That's me and Ojiro. And Team B is...' Dominic turned his head to Todoroki. 'It feels like the Fire Element dwells within him, but it's being...suppressed somehow. More information is needed.'

Battle Center B (Day)

On the fifth floor of the building, Dominic set down the fake weapon. The first few floors were just mazes, like the ones Midoriya and Bakugo fought on. After that, all the floors were identical. "So, do you think that's all we need to do?" Ojiro asked.

"Unfortunately, I haven't seen Todoroki or Shoji's Quirks, so I can't plan around them." he answered, upset at how things turned out. He'd normally go with Charizard, but it's fighting style revolved around it's ability to fly. In cramped spaces like this, it isn't much of a powerhouse.

"Look alive, kids! Show us you're the embodiment of good! Or evil!" All Might said over the earpiece. Not even ten seconds after the alarm sounded, ice flooded into the room, freezing everything it touched. Both Dominic and Ojiro were stuck to the floor.

"AGH!" Dominic said, the frozen substance acting like acid to his legs. "This is bad, they attacked this specific room. They know where we are."

"How do we get out?" Ojiro asked, his bare feet going numb from the cold.

"Don't worry. I have a way to melt the ice." Dominic said, assuring his teammate. Taking a Poke Ball from his pocket, he tossed it into the air. Ojiro watched in confusion as Centiskorch appeared in the room. "Centiskorch, could you please free us?" the Trainer asked, prompting the Radiator Pokemon to use Fire Lash on the ground, melting the ice. "Thanks." Dominic said, returning the Pokemon.

"What was that?" Ojiro asked, wondering if that was part of Dominic's Quirk.

"A friend. Also, I just figured out how to win this." the boy answered, taking out an Ultra Ball. "Time to get freaky."

Battle Center B (Day)

Todoroki saw how Dominic performed in both the Entrance Exam and the Assessment Test, so he knew that he wasn't a foe to take lightly. That dragon of his was enough to put him on edge, but the boy's overpowering strength was nigh unbeatable with his current control over his Quirk. So, he needed a strategy that would be able to stop him before the match even started. No matter how much physical strength someone had, nobody could tear their foot away from the ice without severe damage to the skin. But if he still had that dragon... Shaking off those thoughts, he ran into the building. As long as he could get to the weapon before that happened, his team won.

But after getting to the third floor, a chill ran down his neck. 'Why is it only starting to get colder now?' he asked himself. While he navigated the labyrinth, he heard what sounded like...laughter. Cackling laughter. Turning around, he saw something horrifying. A dark-purple, bipedal monster with a roundish body. It's red eyes and large grin unnerved him. Out of fear, he blasted the entity with ice, only for it to phase through the attack. It then shot rays of black energy from it's eyes.

The only reason Todoroki didn't get hit by the blast was because Shoji ran into the building and pushed him out of the way. "What the heck happened!?" the masked boy asked.

"I don't know. One second, I was running through the maze. And the next, I was face to face with-" Todoroki stopped himself when he noticed that the purple being vanished. "Where did it go!?"

"The room's still cold, so it has to be here." Shoji said, turning four of his tenta-arms into ears so he could detect his enemy. "It's Quirk looked like some sort of energy manipulation."

"No, it had something else." Todoroki said. "Back when I attacked it, it somehow managed to phase through the ice."

"So we're dealing with an enemy that can shoot beams of energy and can dodge our attacks?" Shoji asked, to which his teammate nodded. "Then how do we get past it?"

"I have no idea." Todoroki admitted, frustrated that his first opponent would be so difficult. Gazing upon them from the shadows, Gengar laughed once more before firing off Night Shade again. Todoroki managed to dodge on his own this time, thanks to his guard being up. He tried blasting the Pokemon again, only to yield the same result. It gathered dark energy between it's palms before shooting them at both opponents, dealing damage and preventing them from moving for a while.

Dark Pulse has a small chance of making the target flinch, which comes in handy when you're trying to block someone's path. Gengar knows this, and used the Dark-Type Move specifically for that purpose, as well as to not drain Night Shade's PP too quickly by spamming it. The fact that it worked on the first try was pure good luck.

"Gahahaha!" it cackled as it shot Night Shade at the defenseless students, grinning a wicked smile.

Monitoring Room (Day)

Everyone watched in shock as Todoroki froze the room Dominic and Ojiro were in, trapping the Villain Team.

"What an unmanly move, striking before your opponent even has a chance to react!" Kirishima said, outraged.

"Well, you saw how strong Xiao-Long was in the Assessment Test. Beating him without a trick like that would be impossible." Asui said, recalling the blonde's performance.

"Great power means nothing if you cannot use it." Tokoyami stated.

Jiro on the other hand had a bit more faith in the Trainer, having been the only one who actually saw his 'secret weapons'. After Dominic got out a Poke Ball, she smiled in anticipation. The boy said something to his teammate before tossing it, releasing a large centipede with a flaming mark on it's face and rear. Dominic said something to it, prompting the bug to strike the ground with a flaming whip.

"What was that? Xiao-Long's Quirk?" Kaminari asked, confused.

"No, Young Kaminari. This is something entirely different." All Might said, gaining everyone's attention. "What you are seeing is one of Xiao-Long's companions. A Pokemon."

"Pokey Mon?" Uraraka said, sounding out the strange word for herself.

"He said they were animals with Quirks, like Principal Nezu." Jiro explained.

"Correct, Young Jiro. Dominic's Pokemon have a wide array of powers, so they're a big help for him." All Might said as he got out a small, red device.

"What's that?" Asui asked, pointing to the device.

"It's a Pokedex. Xiao-Long gave it to me in case something like this happened." the hero said as he held up the device to the screen. It lit up, and an image of Centiskorch appeared.

"Centiskorch, the Radiator Pokemon. Type: Fire/Bug. When it heats up, it's body temperature reaches about 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit. It lashes it's body like a whip and launches itself at enemies. While it's burning body is dangerous on it's own, this excessively hostile Pokemon also has large and very sharp fangs."

"And Xiao-Long has that thing as a pet?" Ashido said, astounded. "With that fierce look on it's face, it kinda reminds me of Endeavor."

'That comparison's more fitting than you know, Young Ashido.' All Might thought to himself as he observed Todoroki entering the building.

"Hey, what's that thing in the shadows?" Asui asked, pointing to one of the monitors. The screen showed two red eyes and a toothy grin located behind the dual-Quirked boy.

"It seems that our classmate has an ally who resides in darkness as well." Tokoyami said. All Might got the Pokedex, knowing that his students would want to know more about the phantasmal being.

"Gengar, the Shadow Pokemon. Type: Ghost/Poison. On the night of a full moon, if shadows move on their own and laugh, it must be Gengar's doing. It is said to emerge from the darkness and steal the lives of those who become lost in mountains."

After phasing through his ice attack, Gengar shot Night Shade at Todoroki, who was pushed out of the way by Shoji. While they conversed with eachother, it sank into the shadows again. After a few moments, Gengar reappeared and used Night Shade again before phasing through Todoroki's ice. It then used Dark Pulse to immobilize the Hero Team.

"Wait, did it have two Quirks?" Uraraka asked, watching Gengar use Night Shade and Dark Pulse.

"No. That was what Young Xiao-Long calls Moves. They're special attacks that are wholly separate from his Pokemon's normal abilities." All Might said, getting the Pokedex out again, this time checking which Moves were being used.

"Night Shade, a Special Ghost-Type Move. The user makes the target see a frightening mirage. It inflicts damage equal to the user's Level."

"Dark Pulse, a Special Dark-Type Move. The user releases a horrible aura imbued with dark thoughts. This may also make the target flinch."

The students listened in admiration of Gengar's powers. "And the way it avoids the ice and counterattacks is nothing short of incredible." Tokoyami said, quickly becoming one of Gengar's fans.

"But with that versatility, it's going to be tough to beat. Especially if it can phase through their attacks." Asui said, curious about what Shoji and Todoroki would do to combat the Shadow Pokemon.
