UA (Day)

"Now that everyone's decided on their hero names, we'll go back to talking about the internships." Aizawa said after he woke up. "They will last for a week. As for where you'll have them, those who had offers from pros will be given your own lists, so you can choose from those yourself. Those who didn't have offers will choose from among forty agencies around the country that will be accepting our interns. They all work in different places and have different specialties."

"For example, Thirteen would be focused on rescues from accidents and disasters more than fighting villains." Midnight explained.

"Think carefully before you choose." Aizawa said.

As he and his classmates were handed their lists, Dominic struggled to think of what would serve as the best learning experience for him. He was a multiversal traveler, and had fought both heroes and villains in a wide variety of places, so what could possibly give him information he didn't already possess? After a few minutes of pondering, it hit him. He looked down the list for an internship with the right qualifications, and after finding it, smiled in excitement.

"Turn in your choices before the weekend." Aizawa said as he and Midnight headed for the door. "Dismissed."

Soon, lunch rolled around. As usual, Dominic picked something completely inedible for humans. As he ate his oysters, he was approached by Todoroki. "Oh, hello." the blonde said, his mouth full.

"Hello, Xiao-Long." his classmate said, trying his best to remember that this was someone who had helped him. "I was offered an internship by my father." That made Dominic stop eating.

The boy turned to face Todoroki, his expression neutral. "And?" he asked.

"I'm going to take it." the dual-Quirked boy said. Dominic didn't seem to react. "I don't like it, but things will end up being easier in the long run if I do."

"..." The Pokemon Trainer stayed quiet for a couple more seconds. "Give him hell for me." he said with a smile.

"I will." Todoroki promised.

Musutafu Train Station (Day)

"You all have your costumes, right?" Aizawa asked. "Remember, you aren't allowed to wear them in public. Don't drop them or anything."

"What do you take us for?" Dominic asked. His teacher merely raised an eyebrow, making the blonde take a step back.

"Make sure you mind your manners with the heroes at your internships!" Aizawa said. "Off with you now."

The group disbanded, with only a few of them going to the same train. One of those groups was Asui and Dominic. "Xiao-Long? I didn't expect to see you here." the frog girl said as the blonde walked beside her.

"I kind of did. Let me guess, Selkie?" Dominic asked.

"How did you know?" Asui asked.

"Because that's the same agency I'm going to." the blonde explained as they boarded the train.

"Why? I thought Selkie would be your last choice." the greenette said.

"Initially, yes. But the only way to attain true strength is to face your weakness head-on." Dominic said. "My biggest problem when fighting is water. If I can find a way around it, then I'll have overcome the greatest obstacle I've ever had to deal with."

"If you say so." Asui said under her breath. The two found their seats, and after a few more minutes, the train finally left the station.

"Oh, I almost forgot." Dominic said, getting a Poke Ball from his jacket. He pressed the button in the center, making the capsule pop open and releasing three small mouse-like creatures into the blonde's lap. He then placed them by the window, allowing them to watch as the world flew by.

"Who are they?" Asui asked. "They kind of look like Principal Nezu." Dominic had to stifle a laugh at that. With a fond smile, he explained.

"Maushold, the Family Pokemon. Type: Normal. The little one just appeared one day. They all live together like a family, but the relationship between the three is still unclear. The larger pair protects the little one during battle. When facing strong opponents, the whole group will join the fight."

"When I first encountered, them, the little one wasn't even born yet." Dominic told his classmate. "I have no idea why this happens, but apparently battling stimulates ovulation for them."

"Can I hold them?" the frog girl asked. Dominic picked up Maushold, then put them in the greenette's hands. The little one was squeaking in excitement, jumping up and down. Eventually, it got tired and fell asleep. While it was napping, the larger pair stared at Asui, as if they were sizing her up. After a few moments, they looked at eachother and nodded.

"Ha!" Dominic laughed, trying not to wake the baby.

"What?" Asui asked, gently handing Maushold back to their trainer.

"Well, Maushold are generally very picky about who they let handle their young." the blonde explained, setting the larger pair by the window as he kept the baby safe in his palm. "They know you're trustworthy because of me, and that's why they let you hold them. But after seeing how the baby reacted to you, they just made you its de-facto babysitter."

"Wait, seriously?" Asui asked, taken by surprise.

"Maushold are only ever able to reproduce ONCE. Either they have twins or, like mine, they'll have one kid." Dominic said, gazing out the window with his Pokemon. "Because of that, they are very protective of whatever children they do manage to have. If something bad were to happen, that would be the end of the bloodline. Earning the trust of a Maushold is difficult, but rewarding." The blonde turned back to his classmate. "You should be proud of yourself."

Asui looked down at the tiny, white Pokemon in Dominic's hands. "Maushold." she said, gaining the attention of the Pokemon. "I promise to keep it safe." she swore. Maushold nodded in understanding before turning back to the window.
