Kaleigh stayed around Lumiose City, exploring the surroundings and slowly learning more about what she had missed. There were no posters of her and when she ran into Officer Jenny she didn't recognized Kaleigh. She felt like she had a moment of peace from all the chaos and could relax a little bit.
Currently, Kaleigh sat at a park with Eevee and Riolu having a small bite to eat. She ate the last of her cookies while Eevee and Riolu finished the last of the pokemon food she had.
"Now what are we going to do…" Kaleigh sighed softly. She blew some hair out of her face as she rested her head in her hand before she watched her two pokemon. "I don't want them to starve." She thought to herself. "But I don't have any more money." Just as the thought passed through Kaleigh remembered her first real pokemon battle.
"Here." He said while he held out his hand. Kaleigh looked at the hand and held out her hand slowly. The trainer dropped 400 pokedollars into her hand. She looked at him slightly confused.
"Why did you give me this?" Kaleigh question. "It's for beating me, when you win in a pokemon battle you get money."
Feeling a paw on her knee, Kaleigh looked down at Riolu and gave him a soft smile. She patted his head gently before she got up.
"Don't worry Riolu, I'm okay." Kaleigh reassured. "How do you guys feel about having pokemon battles?" She then asked. Riolu jumped up with his paws up and barked excitedly, while Eevee looked up at Kaleigh almost uncertain. Kaleigh moved over to Eevee and sat down in front of Eevee. "It's okay if you don't want to fight. I won't make you if you don't want to, I promise." Kaleigh ran a hand along Eevee's head gently to comfort it.
"Wahhhh!"
The three were started by the sudden cry and turned towards the noise. A little boy looked like he had fallen and just laid there crying. "I'm sure he's not that hurt, there isn't any blood either. He should stop crying." Kaleigh thought as she watched as two adults came to the boy.
"M-mommy I huwt!" A tiny Kaleigh sobbed presenting her mother with a srape on her knee.
"Is there a lot of blood?" Her mother questioned not looking up from the document she was reading over.
"N-no…" A huff quickly left her mother's mouth in frustration before a hand reached over and grabbed a hold of Kaleigh's hair pulling it up and over to the desk, causing more cries from the little girl.
"Then why are you bothering me?!" Kaleigh's mother shouted before tossing the crying child back to the floor.
Kaleigh's eyes shifted from the adults to the boy and quickly stood up. She had only taken a few steps toward the three before the man helped him up, dusting the dirt off the child before the lady opened her arms where the boy buried himself his sobs quieting down.
Kaleigh stopped where she was and just stared at the difference in what she had expected to happen then what did. "There isn't anything wrong with him… No scrape, broken bone, or a gash for blood… Why? Why is she giving him a hug?"
Kaleigh's thoughts were interrupted by a familiar bark from behind her. She turned to look at Riolu and Eevee and shook her head slowly before she walked towards them and packed up the empty container into her bag. Riolu followed her over and looked at Eevee with concern, who returned the look.
"Come on, let's go." Kaleigh's voice was bleak as she was stuck on what she saw. She returned her pokemon to their pokeballs and left the park.
Kaleigh wandered around Lumiose City before finding a path out of the city. As she walked down the route, she was a bit lost in her own little world.
"Would my father be nice like that?" Kaleigh questioned. "He left me because of YOU!" The voice of her mother shouted in her brain. She took a sharp breath in, her eyes darted to the ground as she stopped.
"P-Please be a lie… If-if he just didn't know, I'm sure he would have stayed." Kaleigh muttered to herself. She rubbed the back of her neck as she started to move forward again.
"People say we're like two peas in a pod!" Turning her head to the right Kaleigh came across two little girls holding pokemon dolls.
"They say we're two halves of a whole! So we're going to beat you with our twin power!" Kaleigh blinked as she looked around. Seeing as the two must have been talking to her she looked at them again and tilted her head.
"What?" "We're challenging you to a pokemon battle!" The one little girl shouted at Kaleigh.
"Oooh." Kaleigh mumbled before giving the twins a slight nod and pulled out Riolu's pokeball.
"Come help me out Riolu!" Kaleigh released Riolu who barked and got into a fighting stance as the twins both released a pokemon. Kaleigh looked at the almost identical pokemon, who stood on two feet with mainly cream-coloured bodies but one had red ears, hands, cheeks with plus' in the middle and a red plus tail. The other one had blue ears, hands, and cheeks with a minus in the middle and a blue minus tail. "Aren't pokemon battles one on one?" Kaleigh thought.
"Hey! Don't you have a second pokemon?" The girls asked at the same time. Kaleigh thought about Eevee and the promise she had just made to it. She looked at Riolu a little unsure but Riolu patted his chest confidently. So, Kaleigh let out a calming breath and looked at the twins.
"Riolu is all I need."
The twin girls looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders before turning back and calling out attacks from their pokemon.
"Plusle, use quick attack on Riolu!" The one called out. "Minun! You too!" The other twin called. The little pokemon with long red ears was fast as it ran on all fours at Riolu and tackled it. The other pokemon follow after tackling Riolu as he was getting up. Riolu fell back to the ground but got back up quickly.
"Riolu use bite!" Kaleigh called out. Riolu stood a few steps forward but quickly stopped as he looked at the two pokemon. Kaleigh watched her confused pokemon. "Come on Riolu…"
"Minun use spark on Riolu!"
"Plusle use nuzzle on Riolu!"
"Wha-" Kaleigh and Riolu were stunned as the pokemon with the red ears ran over to Riolu tackling him back to the ground as it started to rub its cheeks against Riolu's. This shocked Riolu and when Plusle jumped away Riolu struggled to get up as electricity fizzed slightly off of his body. Then Minun tackled Riolu, but it was different this time, the tackle shocked Riolu.
Kaleigh balled her hands into fists as she watched Riolu struggle to stand up. She hated that she didn't know anything about pokemon or battling. "This is too much for him, but I… I don't know what to do!"
"Minun use helping hand on Plusle" One of the twins called out shaking Kaleigh from her thought. "Plusle use Spark on Riolu!" The other twin called out her attack as Minun took Plusle's hand. The two pokemon started to glow as the two charged at Riolu.
"Riolu, look out!" Kaleigh shouted. Riolu looked up at the two pokemon and went to dodge but a pulse of electricity stopped him from moving.
"No! Riolu!"
The two pokemon tackled Riolu shocking him greatly. Riolu flopped to the ground as he fainted from the damage.
"Yay! We won! We won!" The twins cried out. Kaleigh wasted no time as she picked up Riolu and ran back to Lumiose City. She was quick to find a pokemon center and ran inside.
"Help! Please my Riolu is hurt!"
Riolu had already came to and barked at Kaleigh. She looked down at him and gave a small sigh of relief. "I'm so sorry Riolu.."
Riolu shook his head slowly and barked at her once more before Nurse Joy took him to start healing.
