Chapter Fifteen:
The Unexpected Visitor
A gust of wind ripped the leaves from a tree, and a windmill spun wildly. A blue blur raced into view, and came to a screeching stop by the house. Sonic the Hedgehog laughed with a smug smile; victories felt very good.
He turned around, having been the first to make it back to Tails' place. However, he knew that he was not going to be on his own for very long. A pillar of fire erupted, and Blaze the Cat appeared, walking towards Sonic. And then, Tails finally came flying in, his namesakes spinning wildly. He landed, and Sonic pat him on the head.
"You're full of yourself sometimes." The fox told the hedgehog.
"And you do know there is a time and place for competition." Blaze added.
Sonic gave a nod, just as Boom Sonic came running in, followed by Classic Sonic and the other Sonics. The other Tails' weren't that far behind as they flew in, and the two Princess Amys were here as well, with Princess Amy #2 carried by Myrule Sonic, and Sat AM Sonic carrying Princess Amy #1.
"What a battle." Classic Sonic said, wiping some sweat from his forehead.
"Sure was..." Boom Sonic remarked, "I think that makes up for the fact I didn't face my world's version of Eggman in Westopolis since he wasn't there."
"Uh, why is my door open?" Tails commented.
Everyone looked at the twin-tailed fox, and then, they looked at his house. The front door was ajar, half-open. When the group had left, Tails made sure the door was closed. Obviously, since Westopolis was under attack, time had been imperative, and everyone had been in a hurry. Looks like locking the door didn't come to mind.
And then again, nobody knew how long they'd be gone, considering that Sonic was the fastest thing alive.
"I sure hope nobody stole your equipment, Tails." Movie Sonic remarked.
"Funny how the alarms didn't go off." Tails muttered.
Sonic stepped inside the house and peaked around, seeing there weren't any signs of attempted robbery. He inspected the living room, seeing that everything was untouched. He poked his head out, giving Tails and their counterparts the thumbs-up. But then, he gave them the caution sign, just in case something happened.
Tails walked through the door, followed by Boom Sonic, and Boom Tails. Classic Sonic and Classic Tails followed, then they walked towards the kitchen, hearing the sounds of munching. Someone had gotten in, and they were hungry.
Hopefully, they didn't eat all of the food from the fridge, or try to take anything else.
A cautious Sonic stepped around the corner, with Tails following him. And they froze in surprise, seeing their visitor at the kitchen table, munching on some berries in one of Tails' red food bowls. They were clearly human, and he was a man, given the black mustache.
The man sported black hair, and wore a black coat with red linings, dark gloves, black pants and dark shoes. The visitor sipped some water from a glass, and finished eating one of the berries from the bowl.
Sonic and Tails observed with raised eyebrows, so too did their Classic selves, and Boom Sonic with his Tails. Whomever this guy was, he could have gone anywhere to find food; but he broke into Tails' house just to get some berries and a drink of water, he must have been pretty hungry. But neither Sonic or his friends had seen anyone like him before.
Just then, the man put down the berries and the water, finally noticing the heroes.
"Uh, sorry." He said, "Nobody locked the door, so I thought I'd help myself to something. Been a while since I last had a meal."
"Do we know you, mister?" Sonic asked, "I've met a lot of people, but I dunno if we've seen the likes of you before."
"Sonic, right?" The man looked at the blue hedgehog, "World hero? The one who wrecks Doctor Eggman's Badniks and plans for world domination? And that's your, uh, associate, Tails? I'm guessing, this is your house? I see your symbol on the doormat."
"Yeah, I'm Sonic." Sonic nodded.
"Also, Sonic." Boom Sonic quipped.
"And how did you get in without setting off the alarm?" Tails asked.
"You didn't turn them on." The man replied; he began tapping his wrist, and a hologram popped up on a device the man carried on his arm, showing the outline of Tails' house and workshop. Tails walked over, studying the outline of his residence, and the scans.
Classic Tails walked up with wide eyes. "That is some invention..." He commented.
The man nodded. "Believe me, I'm pretty good with technology, and I'm brilliant." He said as he turned off the device, "You should see my drone tech, but all of that is back on my world, and I can't get access to anything like it. If I'm gonna use advanced tech, I'll have to improvise in some way."
"Or you could use my tech if you asked?" Tails suggested, "I can make something for you, or you could try borrowing some of G.U.N's technology or try to steal from Eggman."
"You said you're from another world." Blaze told the man, "Do you know how you got here?"
"Yeah, I'm from another world." The stranger replied, "I'm a scientist working for the government, even though human beings are... hard to work with. Was busy working in the lab one day; then there was this light, and here I am. Been here for days. And I dunno if I have anywhere else to go at this point, I can't find Agent Stone, and G.U.N won't accept any service offers...
"And when I introduce myself, people just laugh, or freak out. And I can't go to Eggman. After I arrived, I wandered into a carnival, and met this guy in a robe. He said; 'don't go to the Eggmen or all worlds are doomed. Beware the monster.' And that monster; I like having control, not being controlled. And then, there's word on the street, about a strange-looking blue hedgehog."
Sonic stepped forward. "Okay, sir." He said, "It's going to be alright. We're gonna find a way to get you home, after we take care of Eggman and his wacky alliance of alternates. But one thing at a time, why are people laughing at your name?"
"My name..." The man said, "My name is Robotnik, Doctor Robotnik."
