The Specter Family Chronicles
Holiday Special Year One
Chapter Nine: Christmas Brings Us All Together
December 13th, 2017
Specter Family House
Greystone, Massachusetts
Harvey saw him first, standing in the entryway to his parent's house, arm linked with his cousin Bella's, smiling that shit eating smile that Harvey had so many times wanted to punch off his face. Mike was still in the study faxing things through to Jessica, and he knows that Trevor hasn't seen him yet. Bella is one of Harvey's cousins, the only child of his mother's sister and her husband. They're the ones who think they're better than the rest of the family because they have money. Harvey has never had a problem with Bella though. She's always been a nice girl. Sometimes nice girls make mistakes… and Trevor Evans is the biggest one, if he's ever seen one before. Helena makes a sound, akin to a scream, and appears, hugging Bella and shaking hands with Trevor, who just smiles and thanks them all for inviting them. Harvey wants to gag. Marcus is next, he's wary of this guy, but he politely shakes the man's hand and hugs Bella. Damien is next, greeting them both as if they don't know the truth, and then, because things just happen to in his life as if he's living in a fucking movie, his mother calls for him to come over and 'meet Trevor'. As soon as Lily says his name, he can see the look on the man's face as he turns to see Harvey walking towards him. He tries to keep his face neutral, pretend as if he doesn't know the man, shaking his hand as if it's the first time they're meeting. Trevor, also pretending that he doesn't know Harvey, acts as though it's the first time. The older lawyer then moves to hug his cousin, asking them how their trip was. Lily asks them if they're staying at the Waldorf, which is the local hotel in town, and Bella begins telling her aunt all about her travels and what she's been up to. Harvey and Trevor are left standing in the foyer, just staring at each other. It's clear that the younger of the two is terrified. The last time he saw Harvey, he was basically told to leave New York, or he'd 'make him'. So, he did, and he found a nice life in Chicago, made a name for himself, left behind that life for real this time and met Bella when he went on a trip to Italy in the summer. Harvey nodded, not believing a word that he says, because he doesn't trust Trevor as far as he can throw the man, and he really, really wants to punch that stupid grin off his face.
Richard soon appeared, meeting Trevor, and asking Harvey to get him something to eat or drink if he'd like. Harvey shot daggers at his father, thinking that he would rather listen to Louis rant about something stupid for half an hour, than do anything for the man standing in front of him, but he nods, and heads into the kitchen, grabbing two beers out of the fridge. He hands one to Trevor, who takes it and thanks him. Harvey doesn't say much else, neither does Trevor. This is the last thing that he expected to happen, and he doesn't even know where Mike is, because imagine throwing that into the works. For the most part, he knows that Mike hasn't been in contact with Trevor, because he trusts him, and Mike said that he was done with all that years ago. He wouldn't throw it all away, especially not for someone like Trevor Evans. But of course, that stupid smile is back, and then Trevor is asking about how work is going, like it's a normal conversation, and he's talking about his job in Chicago and how he met Bella, and Harvey is doing that thing, where he pretends to be paying attention, but really, he's not. He's guilty of doing it to Mike as well, but he feels bad about that. With Trevor, he could care less. It's in that moment, that Mike enters the kitchen. It is the appearance of his boyfriend that wipes that stupid grin off of Trevor's face. Mike appears, and almost immediately stops in his tracks. Harvey smirks, taking another sip of his beer, before pulling Mike close to him, arm around his waist. Mike is stunned into silence, and he's frozen to the spot. He can't even think. He doesn't know if he's allowed to say hi, or what is going on. Is this some kind of joke? Because if it is a joke, it's not funny. Not at all. Trevor is looking between the two lawyers, and he notices that Mike isn't looking at him, but he's curled into Harvey like he's going to protect him. Trevor immediately deduces that the two of them are together. It's not hard to see. His former best friend is dating the guy who made him leave New York. Sure, maybe it ended up working out for him, and maybe he isn't the same person from six years ago, but neither is Mike… clearly… he's shacked up with his boss. They forget that Trevor knows Mike's secret.
'I uh… this is awkward,' he finally says.
'You didn't think that Harvey would be here? This is his parents' house. Specter? Didn't ring a bell? What are you doing here Trevor?' Mike asked, anger apparent in his voice.
'Bella's last name isn't Specter, and she never told me that her aunt was a Specter, so I didn't put two and two together. I didn't plan this Mike, believe me. Your boyfriend has already given me the death glare,' Trevor said, almost in hatred.
'Don't cause any problems for us Trevor okay. It's Christmas, and you're here. We just have to deal with that,' Mike said, looking up at Harvey who glared at the other man nodding.
'You forget something Mike… I know your secret…. Although I'm guessing, from this, that you haven't left your job as a "lawyer". Would be a real shame if that were to get out… again,' Trevor said, and Harvey had him pinned against the wall before anyone could say another word.
'You and I had a deal Evans. You might have inserted yourself into my family, and this story that you're spinning might be enough to fool them out there, but you don't fool me. If you hurt him… I'll hurt you… understand?' Harvey said, only loud enough for Trevor to hear, before he let the man go and left the room.

Specter Family House
Greystone, Massachusetts
Bella and Trevor weren't staying at the house, much to the delight of Harvey. They were staying in a hotel with Bella's family. The interaction between him and Trevor yesterday, had put him in hot water with his family, who didn't know the truth, and with Mike, who was terrified that someone was now going to find out about him… again… because of what Harvey did. The resulting fight had been heard by most of the occupants of the house and had terrified even Helena. Because of that, the rest of the Specters had gone out for dinner, to let Mike and Harvey work out their problems, but they hadn't, and now Mike isn't talking to Harvey, and the older lawyer is taking his frustration out on everyone else. Helena and Lily had made him go to the gym, workout his frustration. Sure, maybe he knew that Trevor was just trying to rile him up. Maybe he knew that the man was just poking the lion until it bit, but there wasn't anything Harvey wouldn't do, to protect Mike. For the most part, Helena seemed to believe him when he told her about Trevor's past, and he was thankful for that. He had apologised to his mother, who had reprimanded him and told him that he needn't have threatened such a 'nice young man', and Harvey had to turn away from his mother to prevent himself from spilling everything. Now knowing that that creatin would be here, in his parent's house for Christmas… it made his blood boil. Mike had barely spoken a word since their fight last night. He slept on the couch in the living room, refusing to sleep in the same room as Harvey, fearing that he might 'accidently kill the man' in his sleep. Bella had been none the wiser to her cousin's antics, but Harvey wouldn't have cared if she did know. He'd bet anyone, any sum of money that Trevor hasn't told her about his past as a drug dealer. Don't know how that would go down with his aunt and Uncle. Having had enough of the silence between her new favourite couple, Helena locked her brother and Mike in the closet downstairs and told them to work out their issues already. Harvey apologised for the way that he acted, that he was scared as well, thinking about losing Mike, and the fact that Trevor is the one who could change all of that. He asked Mike, trying not to accuse him, if he'd been in contact with the man, and when Mike said 'no', he believed him. Then he pressed his boyfriend into the wall of the closet and kissed him. Mike whispered that he's scared too, and that he doesn't know how 'off the leash' Trevor is right now. They promised each other that they would try to be 'civil' to the man, even if he riled them up.
It was only after Harvey and Mike had promised Helena that they were 'still very much in love' and proved it by 'making out under the mistletoe' that they were allowed to 'come out of the closet'. Harvey thought his sister to be 'highly illogical in her punishment', and Helena objected to that, saying that she was willing to do it again, if they kept acting like boneheads. Mike went upstairs to take his medication, and Harvey returned to helping his brother with decorating. Mike tried to put the Trevor thing to the side, he didn't want it to ruin his Christmas. Of course, he had spent Christmases with Trevor when they were kids, but they hadn't been anything like this, and of course, Trevor was never 'there' for Mike in the same way that the Specters were for him. Bella really didn't know him, she had told Mike that she had met him in Italy, and that he was working for a 'shell company that hires him out to contractors', and whilst Mike knows that these exist, he found it highly suspicious. But he isn't going to get involved. For fear that he would blow Mike's secret to the entire Specter Family, putting them in danger even more so than they already are. He doesn't want to give the man any more ammunition to use against them. He's quite sure that when he found out he and Harvey were together, that was the rock on the other side of the teeter-totter that would throw everything into the air. Mike had, at this point, worked himself into a panic. He sunk down to the ground, so that if he had a seizure, he wouldn't fall as far and tried to calm his breathing. He heard his phone buzz with a text, and pulled it out, intending to call Harvey to come upstairs and help him. But the dinging from the bedroom, alerted Mike to the fact that Harvey didn't have his phone on him like normal. Mike stood up, leaning against the bathroom sink, intending to go back into the room and hopefully make it downstairs to his boyfriend. But that didn't happen. Of course. Before he could comprehend anything, his world went black. When he woke up, he was lying on Harvey's bed, his boyfriend holding him in his arms, something cool was on his forehead, and someone was holding his wrist. He looked around, opening his eyes more, to see most of the family gathered around the room. Harvey was just holding him, rocking back and forth, muttering that he loves him, and kissing his forehead.
'W-was goin' on?' Mike asked, trying to sit up, but being held back by Harvey.
'Mike, you had a seizure. It was quite long, probably about three minutes. I've been checking your pulse, it seems to have evened out, but I want you to just relax, okay?' he heard someone, probably Molly, say from his right.
'S-s-seizure? H-h-Harvey?'
'I'm here Mikey. I'm right here baby,' the older man said, kissing his forehead again.
For the rest of the day, Mike slept. Every now and then, Molly would check on him, as would Harvey. He had not been immune to the questions from his family though. They all wanted to know what had happened. Molly seemed to hit the nail on the head, but she was kind enough to not tell everyone at once, she asked Harvey when they had both been checking on Mike at the same time, and he told her the roundabout story: that Mike has epilepsy, sometimes it's severe seizures, and other times they're folic. Molly had punched Harvey's arm and told him that everyone was worried sick about the boy, and he'd been keeping this big thing from them. He told Molly that it wasn't his medical news to share, and that Mike is the most important thing in his life, and he wouldn't betray him by just gossiping to his family about his private business. Molly respected that her brother-in-law respected that, but she was still pissed. Helena was the only one of his siblings who knew the truth, and she had been struggling with keeping it from everyone. Harvey told her that they know about the seizures now, but not the attack, and he wants to keep it that way. Against her better judgment, Helena promised that she would not tell them about the reasons for Mike's epilepsy, unless it was crucial. Harvey reminded her, as a lawyer, that disclosing anyone's personal medical information was illegal, but his sister just told him that his 'lawyer charms' wouldn't work on her. He didn't know what that meant but figured he could trust her. Whilst Mike rested upstairs, the rest of the family were downstairs, putting the final touches on the decorations, and finishing their preparations for their Specter Family Christmas Activities. The itinerary that Helena had made for everyone had been pinned in nearly every corner of the house, so that no one could say they 'hadn't seen it'. Marcus had tried that a couple of years ago… Helena had never gotten so mad before. Lily had made some of her special Christmas deserts, and whilst her boys had tried to sneak a couple, she had of course, caught them in the act, and made them wash the dishes as punishment. This is why dishwashers were invented… Harvey thought as he washed another dish, handing it to Damien. Maybe I should've gotten mom and dad a dishwasher? He thought, second guessing the gift he had already gotten them. It was after dinner, that Lily had given Harvey a plate of food to take up to Mike.
When Harvey got upstairs, his boyfriend was awake, but still lying down. He closed the door, and knelt beside the bed, running a hand through Mike's hair, pressing a kiss to his temple. He waited for Mike to make a comment about him being all 'caring', but it never came. In fact, his boyfriend looked even more tired, which didn't seem possible after he had slept all day. Harvey helped him to sit up, and back against the headboard, then handed him the plate of food asking him to eat it. Mike took the plate, and slowly began to pick at the food. Harvey had crawled onto the bed and made himself comfortable beside Mike, snuggling his boyfriend close to him as he ate. Mike apologised for scaring everyone, and that he had tried to call Harvey, but he didn't have his phone. The older lawyer sighed and asked Mike if he can remember what had caused it. Whilst he ate, Mike told him of the panic attack caused by Trevor saying that he can destroy him and his career, and that is what he was panicking over. Harvey added it to his list of reasons to 'destroy Trevor', and then just hugged Mike the best he could with one arm. He didn't want to let the younger man go, ever. Walking up the stairs and seeing his boyfriend convulsing on the floor was not something he ever would be able to erase from his memory. Harvey grabbed a magazine that he had nicked from his sister and began flipping through it. He and Mike just talked, about how amazing their anniversary was, and what they thought Louis would do when he got all those files, and how they missed New York, and their friends. Mike even asked Harvey if, when they get home, they can paint up the Den, and use it as an office for Mike, and Harvey was so distracted when Mike had called the condo 'home' that he missed the last part, and earned Mike slapping his shoulder to get him to pay attention. He decided that they would wait until they returned to New York, before they made any final choices, and Mike agreed to that. Once Mike was finished eating, Harvey took his plate back downstairs, with every intention to return to his bedroom and just spend the night watching his boyfriend's chest rising and falling, to make sure that he was alright, but got pulled into a game that his sister was playing, and time got away from him. When he did get back upstairs, it was after midnight. He got dressed into his sleepwear, and climbed into bed, immediately curling up to Mike.
'I love you Harvey,' Mike whispered, kissing his shoulder.
'I love you too Mike, please don't ever scare me like that again. I can't bear the thought of losing you,' he said, the sudden emotions overwhelming him as Mike cuddled him, kissing the tears that fell from his eyes.
'I will never leave you Harvey. For as long as I live, I will never leave you,' Mike replied in a hushed whisper kissing him.
'Good. I'll never leave you either. Now that we have that settled, come here,' he said, wrapping his arms around Mike's waist, as if not doing that, would cause his boyfriend to fade away, Mike sighed happily.

The next morning, Harvey and Mike were just lying awake, facing one another, one of Mike's hands was slowly moving through Harvey's hair, the other sat on his waist, whilst Harvey had a grip on Mike's waist, holding his head up on his hand with his elbow using the other. They weren't talking, just looking at each other, like memorising a photograph, as if it would be taken away from them shortly. It never ceased to amaze Mike how beautiful Harvey is. He has the most amazing features, and it just… sometimes he has to pinch himself because of how beautiful his man is. Mike, on the other hand… Harvey thinks he's gorgeous, amazing, beautiful… you name it, Harvey will have applied it to Mike. But they're content right now, to just stay how they are, like this forever. Soon enough though, right on Harvey's six am alarm, there is a knock on the door. Neither of them moves from their positions, but Harvey calls for the person to come in. Molly opens the door and sticks her head in, asking if they're decent. Mike hides himself a little more under the covers, grabbing a shirt and pulling it on, whilst Harvey groans at the loss of warmth from his boyfriend. Molly sits on Mike's side of the bed, and asks him some questions, about his medication, about his dosage, and about how he's feeling. Mike tells Molly what she wants to know, then asks if she's going to try and make him stay here all day. She tells Harvey that so long as Mike takes it easy, he can get out of bed. The young man practically bolts into the bathroom, takes his tablet, and begins a shower. She smiles at Harvey, sends him a knowing look, then leaves the room. She had suspected there was more to the story that Harvey wasn't sharing yesterday, but she can't make Mike share something if he doesn't want to, and she certainly isn't going to invade his privacy. Once both Harvey and Mike are dressed and ready for the day, they head downstairs, holding hands, and walk into a debate that is happening between Helena and Damien. They had originally planned to have their Specter Games Night earlier than was put on the itinerary, but Lily had just informed them that the Collier Family, who lives across the road from the Specters, are throwing a street party tomorrow night, and is inviting everyone. Mike looks between Helena and Harvey, asking what a street party is. No one seemed to answer his question though, so he went through to the living room and curled up to his boyfriend on the couch, watching whatever show the kids had on the TV.
The news that Uncle Bruce is coming for Christmas shocks a lot of the family. Harvey holds Mike tighter; Lily almost breaks something after she drops it on the ground, Richard is looking forward to seeing his brother. Helena and Harvey have had the most negative run ins with their uncle Bruce. For starters, when Harvey came out to the family, their uncle was the only one who seemed to have a problem with it, and he made it known to Harvey's cousins that he was 'weird'. That didn't sit well with Lily, but Richard was none the wiser to his brother's 'dislike' of his son. So, the fact that Harvey is here, and that he's with Mike, makes everyone question whether inviting Uncle Bruce was such a great idea. Then it is announced that Trevor and Bella are going to be participating in Dare Week, and that kind of makes Harvey mad, mad at his sister for inviting the two of them, and mad at his parents for not being able to see the kind of man that Trevor is. Mike doesn't like it any more than his boyfriend and dares himself not to 'punch the guy'. Harvey smirks. Everything seems to be falling apart, this trip that Harvey had planned, spending Thanksgiving and Christmas with his family seemed to be such a great idea. It would give them time enough to get to know Mike, and they wouldn't be in New York whilst Jessica blew up the firm, so they wouldn't be in the crosshairs. When they go back to work, Harvey can take his rightful place. But for now, shit is hitting the fan, and it's spraying in everyone's direction. He doesn't want to think that way, but Uncle Bruce, the homophobe is coming, and he's bringing his kids, who have been warped by his opinions, and Trevor is still in town. Right now, he just wants to take Mike and go back to New York. His brother will tell him that it's the 'cowards' way out'. Mike will tell him that they shouldn't let something stupid like this ruin their holidays, and you know what, they would both be right. As would Donna if they went back to New York and arrived at work tomorrow. Harvey asks Helena to put his and Mike's name in for Dare Week, as if she hadn't already. He then leans down and tells Mike that he has a plan. Usually what they do for Dare week, is switch out. So that means that each dare will be picked by a different person, however if you don't do the dare, you have a forfeit, which is usually worse than the actual dare itself. Mike doesn't know what to think. Should he be excited or terrified for the activity?
'Don't worry Mike, we'll go easy on your as it's your first year here,' Marcus said, somewhat convincingly, but Mike didn't buy it.
'Gee thanks Marcus. I appreciate it,' Mike replied, sarcasm lacing his voice.
'Hey Harv, remember that one from when we were eighteen and I dared you to strip and run down the street naked…in the freezing cold snow… with nothing on,' Damien said, as Mike looked up at his boyfriend who raised an eyebrow.
'Oh, I thought that was the year that you did that… and I stood there laughing?' Harvey said and Molly confirmed.
Later that evening, Mike found himself in a conversation with Helena, Molly and Lily about what they were getting everyone for Christmas. Having already gotten Harvey his gift, Mike was thinking about what he could possibly get for everyone else, having only just met them like three weeks ago. Marcus was shouting out ridiculous suggestions, stating at the end of everyone that 'Harvey could afford it'. Mike had to admit, he probably could, but none of the gifts were realistic enough that Harvey would ever think of buying them. For most of his Christmases, Mike would get small things, like one toy that he really wanted, some clothes and stuff for school. Then after his parents died, his Grammy would just buy him things that they could get at the time. Mike didn't complain. He liked the gifts that his Grammy made for him, cherished them. He still has the panda painting that she made for him one Christmas. It's the simple gifts that really count. So, when he told Harvey what he wanted for Christmas, his boyfriend looked at him like he was mad. It was fun to see that look on Harvey's face, but he figures that Harvey will get him a 'real tie' of a shade that Mike dislikes but Harvey loves, and something else small that will finish it off. Mike honestly doesn't mind. He doesn't need big gestures or expensive gifts. Everything he could ever want, he has with him right now, and yes, he knows that it's cheesy. Lily had wished for a new car, a new kitchen, and a new bathroom in the downstairs. Helena wanted a European holiday for her, Peter, and the kids (that would be expensive), Molly wanted Damien to stop leaving his clothes lying around the house, and a new TV for the living room. Mike said that she could probably fix the first one by just hiding all of Damien's clothing, and only giving it back to him piece by piece, and if he leaves them lying around, it happens again. The Dr. raised an eyebrow at Mike, who was now looking down and blushing, whilst the girls all made lewd sounds. He had never done it, but apparently that is how you 'train a man'. It was in an article he read in one of Donna's stupid magazines. He was super bored. Helena moved on from talking about gifts to asking Mike about his and Harvey's first date. Lily informed them all to wait and ran to the kitchen to grab a bottle of wine before Mike told the story. Once they all had a glass, she told him to "go ahead".
Nine Months Ago
First Date
March 19th, 2017
Harvey's Condo
Mike knocked on the door to the large penthouse apartment. He's been here before, many times, but for some reason, this feels like the first. Harvey had asked him out on a date, after they kissed almost a week ago now. He had wanted to make this special, the night perfect. It was Donna, who opened the door, and invited Mike inside. The young lawyer didn't realise that Donna was going to be at their first date, nor did he think she was going to be involved in their first date. The red head led him down the hallway, into the spacious living, kitchen, and dining area, then told him to wait. She ran down the hallway connected to the bedrooms and entered what Mike thought was the master bedroom. He was nervous. He doesn't know why. He and Harvey had kissed a week ago, and now they're here. So, what about this was so nerve wracking? Mike had worn his best suit a.k.a. Donna had brought him one over last night and demanded that he wear it. Sure, it's a nice suit, but Mike had never really been one for the tighter suits. He was always needing room in the leg, to get comfortable, so the fabric wouldn't pull. But she had insisted, and Mike is more scared of Donna than he is of this suit, so he wore it, and if the look on Harvey face when he came out of the bedroom (finally) was any indication of anything, it was that he couldn't take his eyes off him, and gaping… not really a Harvey Specter emotion you see often. Donna poked him in the side, then smiled at Mike, before moving into the kitchen. Harvey was still at the stage where, he wanted people to know that Mike was his, but he didn't at the same time. That's why he decided they would have their first date here. Harvey walked over and kissed Mike in greeting, holding him close when he whispered how sexy Mike looked in 'that suit'. Donna sent him a subtle wink, and he thanked Harvey, telling him that he looks amazing also. The balcony had been done up for their date, and it was lucky that it was still fall, and not overtly cold, so they couldn't sit outside. There was a single candle, and it was beautiful, the sun was setting over the New York skyline, and the way that it illuminated Harvey's face… Mike had to take a picture… so he did, and Harvey looked at him like he'd stolen his soul.
'Why are you always taking photos of me?' he asked, as Donna brought their drinks out, bowing dramatically.
'Moments I want to remember forever,' Mike replied, and Harvey scoffed.
'Mike, you have an eidetic memory. You will never forget this moment,' Harvey said, almost as if Mike had forgotten.
'I know. But if at some point in the future, you forget this moment… I will have a photo to remind you, of just how amazing this is,' Mike replied, and it clicked in Harvey's mind then, the reason that Mike always takes pictures.
Once they had finished their first drink, they just sat talking for the longest time. About nothing, about everything, even Harvey lamenting that he thinks Mike's taste in movies is 'barely a passing grade'. It was the first time that Mike had seen Harvey smile… like a real, genuine smile, and he couldn't believe that it was aimed at him. Donna, as always, had perfect timing with each of their meals. Once their desert was served, she bid them goodnight, telling them both that she wants 'all the details' in the morning. Harvey waved his hand at her, and she winked then left. For the most part, the night had been amazing. The way that Donna had decorated the balcony, the lights both from the fairy lights and the city lights were just the perfect ambiance. After they had finished desert, Harvey took Mike's hand, and led him inside. For a moment, Mike thought they would go straight to the bedroom, but they didn't. Harvey grabbed a record off the shelf, and put it on, then bowed and asked Mike to dance with him. Of course, the younger man wasn't that good, but he let Harvey lead, and managed to make it out alive, without stepping on toes or missing a step. They stayed just swaying like that for… he doesn't even know how long. But it was perfect. Everyone always says that the first date needs to be big, needs to be epic, but Mike was happy with this. He liked that it was just the two of them, moving around Harvey's condo, swaying to music that Mike secretly liked, but would never admit to. If he'd had to describe his perfect date, this would be it. Somehow Donna had gotten inside his very genius mind and pulled this out like it was nothing. Eventually, when the music died off, Harvey pressed a soft kiss to Mike's lips, wanting so badly to continue, to deepen the kiss, to move this to the bedroom, but he had promised himself mostly, that he would not sleep with Mike on the first date. He wanted to prove to Mike and himself that he could do that. So, reluctantly he pulled away. They fell on to the couch together and curled up under a blanket. Harvey put a movie on, whilst they just got to know each other's mouths a little better, the movie in the background proving a useful distraction sometimes. Of course, Mike fell asleep, and woke curled up to Harvey in his bed, but he felt safe. He felt loved. He felt wanted, there in the arms of his boss/boyfriend of a week.
Present Day
December 15th, 2017
Greystone, Massachusetts
All the girls were cooing at how cute Mike's story was. Of course, he'd left out the part about how they had fought the night before, because Harvey was a dick and that he hadn't even wanted to go over there, because he thought that it might just be a 'sex' thing, but it wasn't. Helena asked Mike to tell her about the first kiss, but Harvey, who had been listening to Mike tell the story of their first date, entered the room, and told them that it was a 'story for another time'. Lily stood up and hugged her son, telling him that she's proud of him, and of Mike, and that regardless of how much he tries to hide it, Harvey is just a big romantic sap. Helena and Molly agreed but promised not to tell anyone else. After the girls had left the room, Harvey joined his boyfriend on the couch. Mike curled up to him, and he flicked the TV on for some mindless background noise, then lent down to bring his and Mike's lips together. They don't usually do things like this outside of Harvey's room, but he's feeling bold, and of course, the story of their first date might have shown Harvey's romantic side, but he knows Mike had seen that before. They kissed for a bit, then the kids entered the room, so they just snuggled under the blanket, and listened to the sounds of kids cartoons blare through the speakers of the TV. Donna had played such a big role in the beginning of their relationship, that Mike thinks she deserves a big present. He had mentioned something to her before about a vacation, and whilst Harvey would never outwardly give her one, he wonders if maybe, as the 'boyfriend', he can pull some strings, you know maybe wear 'that suit' and seduce Harvey into doing something nice for the woman. From the door to the dining room, Lily watched her son and Mike as they talked softly, sharing quick kisses, and smiles. She had never wanted anything other than for her son, for all her children, to be happy. There was something so raw about Harvey and Mike's relationship, and yet where her son got his romantic side, she will never know. Mike had wondered the same thing in the beginning. How could he justify the romantic Harvey, with the one who came into the office every day? He doesn't know if he's figured that out completely yet, but hopefully when they get back to work it will become clear.
'Do you remember our first date Harvey?' Mike asked, pulling out his phone.
'Yes Mike, I remember,' he said, looking at the picture that Mike had taken of him that night and smiling.
'Against the lights, you look to me, and I will always see, the shining of the heart, the love that encompasses me,' Mike half sang.
'Your parents would be proud of you Mike, and so would Grammy. I love you,' Harvey said, kissing his man's forehead.
A/N: Christmas is always a fantastic time to spend with family. We are right in the middle of the Specter Family Holiday season, so there are sure to be some shenanigans that happen along the way. D.
