Jade: Tori Gets Stuck
It was Saturday morning and Jade woke up to Beck making coffee like every time she stayed over, but something was off. When her boyfriend gave her the cup of coffee and kissed her good morning she felt like he was holding back. He was genuinely in his affection for her, but something was bothering him. Never one to beat around the bush Jade voiced her thoughts and saw Beck nervously run his hand through his hair.
"I'll help a friend move on Monday." Jade was confused. That was all? However when Beck continued she realized why he was so hesitant. "In Canada."
"Seriously? For how long will you be there?" She was annoyed now.
"My parents thought that it would be a good idea to visit my other relatives afterwards, so probably for two weeks, maybe a little more."
Jade didn't know what to say to that. The last time he had been in Canada she had missed him like crazy and back then he had only been gone for a week, now it would be even longer. However it wasn't only that. Her boyfriend was well aware that Sikowitz's play would be while he was gone and that she would probably get the lead for it.
"So you're flying tomorrow." It was more a statement than a question, but Beck nodded none the less. "Well that's great. Then start packing and I'll go to my audition for Sikowitz's play." She said sarcastically and stood up. Even her coffee didn't help her mood.
Beck tried to hold her back, but she wasn't having any of it. She was annoyed and angry that he left her alone with his friends for another two weeks. To be fair she had Cat so it would be alright, but she would still miss him a lot. Without another word to him she grasped her clothes out of his wardrobe and went into the bathroom to get ready.
When Jade came back out she saw Beck sitting on his bed, where she had left him half an hour ago, looking apologizing at her. He was obviously sorry for telling her so late, but that didn't change the fact that he had probably known for a few days that he was going to Canada and hadn't told her. She picked up her bag and just went to her car. She didn't want to talk to him right now and she had an audition to go to.
In the end her audition didn't go as well as she would have liked, because her thoughts were still occupied with Beck and his trip to Canada. When Sikowitz said they were done for today and he would give them the cast list on Monday Jade looked at her phone for the first time since she had left Beck's RV. A few texts and missed calls from her boyfriend was what awaited her and her mom asking her to pick her brother up from his football game. Sighing she realized that it was still an hour until her brother's game would end, so she decided to just go there early and watch him play, maybe it would help keeping her mind off of Beck.
When she arrived she sat down on the bleachers as far away as possible from any overenthusiastic moms or dads. Her brother had once explained the football rules to her and she had even listened. She would never admit it, but she had a soft spot for her brother and somehow she found herself watching a football game with him once in a while. When her brother went off the field after a touchdown he spotted her and when he removed his football helmet she could see that he was smiling at her, excited that she had come. She mirrored his expression and for the first time today smiled.
An hour later the game was over and Jade waited for her brother to say goodbye to his teammates and coach. It didn't take long and her brother greeted her like a true West.
"Let me guess, you are disappointed that no one got hurt?"
"A little, but it was still harsh enough for me to enjoy." She smirked at him.
Her brother rolled his eyes and the two went to her car to drive home. When they got home Jade called a pizza delivery service and the two sat in front of the TV watching a series her brother enjoyed and she could at least tolerate. It wasn't until her brother asked her something that she was reminded why she was annoyed with this day.
"You were around my age when you met Beck right?" When she raised an eyebrow at him he continued. "Well there is this girl. She came today to see me play and I kind of like her."
"If she is a cheerleader I swear I'll personally hurt you more than that one defensive player hurt you during that quarterback sack." So maybe she knew more about football than she liked to admit, but that wasn't what she was focused on right now. Her brother was just like her when it came to feelings, he rarely showed them and he could be just as sarcastically as she was, which often didn't sit well with people. This was the first time he had ever mentioned a girl to her and she didn't know what to make of it.
"No, of course not." Her brother laughed lightly, he knew what his sister thought about cheerleaders. "She was the one that sat a little bit to your left. You know the one with the long dark hair who sat alone."
Now Jade tried really hard to remember. She had sat far away from everyone else, so the girl must have done that too. Thinking really hard she could remember her now, the girl had looked almost as annoyed as her and hadn't seem all too interested in the game itself.
A little nervous and blushing a few times her brother began telling her about this girl and that she kept rejecting him. It sounded very familiar to Jade and she couldn't help but smile, only to have her brother accuse her of being amused by his misery.
"You know how much your misery normally amuses me." Her brother rolled his eyes, knowing she didn't mean it. "But that's not it. You two just remind me of Beck and myself. I assume you told me all this annoying stuff about this girl so I give you some advice, so here it comes. If you really like her keep trying. She is interested too or she wouldn't have come to see your game today."
Her brother seemed content with her advice and after a while left to go to his room, undoubtedly to call that girl and ask her out again. Now Jade had a call of her own to make.
Beck: Tori Gets Stuck
Ever since that morning when Jade had left angry and upset that he would be in Canada for two weeks Beck had hoped that she would call him. When she finally did in the evening and just said that she would come over in half an hour he was surprised. He didn't know what he had awaited, but the kiss she gave him as greeting definitely wasn't the reaction he had thought he would get, not that he was complaining. When he asked her why she was in such a good mood she just smiled a little before answering.
"My brother just reminded me how we started going out and I'm just glad that we got together in the end. Though I'm still annoyed that you're going to Canada, but I don't want to waste our last few hours before you have to go arguing with you. Take it or leave it."
Beck immediately chose the first option and kissed her lovingly before they lay down on his bed to watch a movie.
In the morning he was reluctant to get up and move Jade out of his arms. In half an hour the taxi, that his parents had called for them, would arrive and take them to the airport, they probably didn't want to risk that Jade would drive them again. Beck was sad that she wouldn't because every minute he got to spend with her before such a long trip mattered.
After he got her coffee ready he woke Jade up and the two got ready, mostly in silence. When Beck's father knocked on the door and let Beck know that the taxi was there they knew it was time to say goodbye. It was just as difficult to leave her behind as it was the last time he went to Canada and as soon as he arrived at the airport he was already missing her.
Even though they talked almost every day and texted constantly, it still wasn't enough for him to not miss her. Due to his day being filled with a lot of physical work and then spending time with his old friends he wasn't able to video chat with Jade until Saturday evening came around. His girlfriend hadn't talked too much about Sikowitz's play, which worried Beck. He was sure that she was upset about only being Tori's understudy instead of the lead, but she hadn't said anything about it to him.
When it was finally time to video chat Beck immediately smiled when he saw Jade, not only because he missed her but because she was wearing their necklace. Of course he did as well. They had never agreed on it or anything, but they both always wore it constantly when they were apart. Jade had told him in a quiet moment that she felt closer to him when she wore it while he was away and he felt the same about their necklaces.
After they had talked a while Beck finally asked how the evening went and Jade immediately frowned.
"Sikowitz told me that I was a gank who doesn't deserve to play the lead after I tried to make Tori give up her role and then he played the lead for the final scene himself."
Beck felt himself get angry. After him and Jade had spoken about this word after what had happened at Karaoke Dokie he never wanted to let anyone ever call her that. When he told her that and added that he was sorry the evening turned out like that for her, she sighed and shook her head lightly.
"Don't worry about it. Sikowitz's words mean nothing to me. I won't audition for one of his plays for a while, instead I asked him if I can do my play 'Clowns don't bounce' next weekend and he said okay."
That was his girlfriend, she never gave up and kept believing in her art. The only downside to it was that he wouldn't be back in time to watch her performance. Of course she had already let him read the script, so he knew how good it was, but he would miss it by a few hours. He would be back late and she told him that she planned it for the evening. However maybe he could ask Sinjin to record it for him, so they could watch it together when he was back.
Seeing Jade and knowing it was still over a week before he could see her again in person made him miss her even more and despite that she didn't tell him, he knew by the way she was looking at him through the webcam that she missed him too. Two weeks was a long time to be apart from each other, especially when they normally were together most of the time. It was still a week until he could be with her again and when he said goodbye to her with an 'I love you' he hoped that the week would be over soon.
