Jade: Locked Up
It was evening and they were cuddled up on Beck's bed watching a movie when Mrs. Oliver knocked on the door of the RV, demanding to speak with her son. Jade immediately knew that she wasn't invited to stay for the conversation and was about to get up, annoyed that the older woman was still so against her, when Beck hold her back. He told his mother that he shared everything with Jade anyway and that she would stay right by his side for the conversation. Jade smiled at his words and lay her hand above his, letting him know that it mean a lot to her that he was standing up for her in front of his mother. Mrs. Oliver only sighed and then spoke up.
"I just had a phone call with your aunt about our trip to Cancun. When she heard that your girlfriend would come as well she said that you have to leave her at home. You know that she doesn't like her and I can understand her. No wonder she has no friends besides you and that overexcited redhead, she is mean and rude."
It wasn't like Jade wasn't used to Mrs. Oliver talking about her like she wasn't even in the room. The last sentence was only said because Beck's mother knew that she would get angry and then she would have another reason to badmouth her, saying something like 'see that's the attitude I mean'. However Jade wasn't predictable and she wouldn't give into Mrs. Olivers bait. Before she could come up with something to say that was witty and still nice enough to not prove Mrs. Oliver right Beck spoke up, his voice sharp.
"Don't talk about her like that. I won't let you badmouth the girl I love." Jade felt her heart skip a beat at that. These special words coming with such confidence and certainty from her boyfriend never failed to touch her heart. If she was honest with herself, Mrs. Oliver's words had hurt her. Normally she didn't care what anyone thought about her, but this constant rejection by the Olivers took its toll on her. His family was important to Beck and that they were so against her all the time didn't make it easy for her boyfriend. The only relatives that openly supported their relationship were Beck's grandparents and Jade was thankful for that, but Beck's aunt was always her worst critic besides Beck's parents. Considering that, it made sense that she didn't want her on the trip to Cancun.
No one knew that Jade was selfless, but when it came to people who meant so much to her as Beck did, she was willing to put her own wishes aside for her loved ones. She didn't want to be apart from Beck again, especially after he had just been in Canada for two weeks and she had really missed him. The events from prom night lay still heavy on her heart and she wanted him close to her even more due to it, but she wouldn't make him choose between his family and her, it wasn't fair. Sighing deeply she squeezed Beck's hand and when he looked at her, she lay a hand on his cheek.
"Babe, it's alright if you go without me. Spend time with your family and when you come back we'll just be together for the rest of the vacation."
It wasn't easy to say that, but she meant it. She would be alright alone here. Cat and the others would be away as well so she would be really lonely, but she didn't mind that as long as Beck was happy. From the corner of her eye she saw that Mrs. Oliver look surprised, but she couldn't care less of what she thought of her. All she knew was that she did the right thing, at least her boyfriend would have great vacations. However he didn't seem to agree with her, because he kissed her hand softly before shaking his head.
"I'm not going without you. We were already too much apart the last few weeks when I was in Canada and I don't want to leave your side again." Then he turned to Mrs. Oliver. "Tell her that I'm not coming. I rather spend my time here in this RV with my wonderful girlfriend than without her in a fancy hotel in Cancun."
Mrs. Oliver argued with him, but Beck didn't change his mind. When his mother had finally left Jade leaned up and kissed Beck passionately, telling him how much she loved him without words.
Beck: Locked Up
If someone had asked Beck how he had imagined his vacation, he would never have thought that he would spend it like this. When during their first night they met in the lobby awoken from the loud noises from outside, Beck knew that this wasn't going to be a good vacation. Jade joined them a little bit later. She had just slept through it all, which didn't surprised Beck, after all he knew his girlfriend. The other girls and Robbie however refused to sleep alone in the room again, so he, Andre and Sikowitz offered to stay with them. Sikowitz took the bathtub, while Andre and Robbie each slept on one side of the bed with Cat and Tori between them. Beck and Jade shared the couch, laying close to each other. Even if Beck knew that Jade wasn't scared, because she fell back asleep almost immediately, he tightened his hold on her. Jade always said she that didn't need protection, but that didn't make Beck any less protective of her.
Jade often got herself into dangerous situation and he wanted to keep her safe. However when they all were sent to prison he couldn't do that anymore. A huge fence separated the women from the men and Beck could only watch helplessly when his girlfriend was punched to the ground by a dangerous looking woman. He reminded himself that he would have to thank Tori later for getting the woman off of Jade's back, but for now he had to focus on the guys who threw rocks at him and Andre.
When it was time to go inside to the undoubtedly awful beds, Beck met Jade's eyes and the two simultaneously moved to the fence. They both leaned against it with their backs and touched each others fingertips through the holes. Thankfully no one would be able to see their small exchange of affection due to their long sleeves that hid their hands completely. Both had already learned that showing any kind of weakness was not a good idea here, so they knew that they had only a few seconds before they had to let go. Neither of them said anything because that wasn't necessary to know what the other was feeling. Reluctantly they pulled away after a few seconds and turned around to get one last look into each others eyes before they both went their separate ways.
Thankfully Andre and him got a jail cell for themselves, so they didn't have to worry about getting rocks thrown at them in their sleep. It was silent for a few minutes until Andre spoke up.
"You're worried about Jade." It was more a statement than a question, but Beck answered none the less.
"I know that she can take care of herself, but I know how reckless she can be. I just don't want to come home to her being hurt again, you know."
Beck knew that his words were referring to the night when he had found Jade in his RV after prom and despite that nothing bad had happened to her he still hadn't fully forgiven Andre for not stopping Doug from carrying Jade away. Beck still needed for Andre to know how much the betrayal had hurt Jade, even if she never told him that outright Beck knew that she felt that way.
"Jade considers you guys her somehow friends and especially you she considers her friend, so that you all humiliated her in front of all the others hit her hard. You know what is the worst part? Even after you all did that to her, she didn't badmouth anyone except Tori in front of me. She didn't want me to be mad at you. All I know about that evening I know from you and The Slap as well as the rumors around school."
It was true. Jade hadn't complained about anyone, except for Tori taking away her chance to perform her play. Beck knew that Cat had apologized to Jade, because she hadn't taken the situation with Doug the diaper guy seriously. Jade had accepted it, knowing her best friend really hadn't seen the harm in it. However no one else from his friends had done that and it still made Beck angry.
"I have to apologize to her." Andre said after a while and Beck could hear that he really meant it. It seemed that only now Andre saw that Jade had tried to protect him and her other somewhat friends from being bad friends in Beck's eyes.
The next morning before their performance with the other inmates Beck was able to embrace Jade for the first time since they had been sent to jail and he took advantage of it. He didn't care who saw them being affectionate or what the other inmates were thinking, he was just glad to have her back in his arms and if their plan would work they would hopefully be out of here soon.
After they finally sat in the plane back to L.A. everyone was exhausted. The trip had taken its toll on everyone, so they all tried to sleep a little during the flight. Beck fell asleep almost immediately after Jade did in his arms. With her safe by his side he could finally feel that everything was alright again. Later when they arrived at the airport Jade didn't want to wake her mom or brother up to let her into the house, so they went home to his RV. Only then Beck saw that he had a message from his grandparents. While Jade made coffee for them, something she had missed because in Yerba they had no enjoyable coffee, Beck listened to the voice mail and his exhausted expression turned into an excited one. When Jade asked what this was all about he only smiled at her and told her that they would need their sleep for tomorrow and that it was a surprise.
The next morning Beck got up early and made coffee for Jade before waking her up with a bright grin. She was only annoyed and told him that if he wouldn't tell her now why he was so happy he would have to spend the next hour getting coffee out of his hair. Still smiling Beck spoke up.
"My grandparents called and told me that they booked a room for us in a hotel close to the one my family is staying in and that we can come to Cancun for the rest of our vacation. We have to be at the airport in an hour, so we should start packing."
Now Jade's face light up and she crashed her lips to his in a passionate kiss. When she pulled away she smiled at him.
"As long as your grandparents are on our side I think I don't mind the rest of your family hating my guts." With that she got up and began replacing the clothes in the suitcase with fresh clothes that she had in his RV.
Beck smiled at her. They had only a few vacation days left, but he would make sure that these ones would be great. They were finally able to spend a few peaceful days in Cancun, thanks to his grandparents, who saw Jade the way he saw her, as an amazing woman.
