Beck: Helen Back Again

After Helen introduced herself in Sikowitz's class and told them that she would hold re-auditions to decided who got to stay at Hollywood Arts Beck felt scared. He wasn't really scared of Helen, but what she could do. If she didn't like his performance he would be kicked out of Hollywood Arts and that thought was really scary. On top of that he was worried about Jade as well. She was without a doubt talented, but he didn't know if Helen would like Jade's way of interpreting art. For both of them this school meant so much and Beck didn't want to be apart from Jade. Since they had been accepted at Hollywood Arts they never had to worry about not having enough time together because they had most classes together. However if they had to go to different schools he wouldn't get to see her as often. All of that began to really scare Beck, so he was barely taking part in the conversation that his friends were having about Helen and the re-auditions.

The whole day he found himself worrying and when him and Jade were back at his RV he knew Jade would ask him about it and he was right.

"Babe, what's wrong? Since Helen showed up you barely say anything. You can't be seriously scared of Helen."

"Not of her, but of being kicked out of Hollywood Arts." He admitted, which earned him a light slap on the arm from his girlfriend.

"Beck Oliver you're a talented actor and Helen will see that. Now stop worrying and make me a coffee."

For the first time since he heard about the re-auditions Beck smiled. This was Jade's way of comforting him and telling him that everything would work out in the end. Before he stood up to make her coffee, he kissed her softly and she gently stroked his cheek. He would make sure to give Helen his best performance for the re-audition, so he could stay at Hollywood Arts with this amazing girl.

When the day for their re-auditions came Beck was nervous. Nobody could tell because on the outside he looked as calm as ever, but of course Jade was able to see his nervousness. Words weren't needed between them when they waited outside of the Blackbox Theater for their turn. Jade was there for him through her gestures. Others were used to see them sitting so close together, but they missed the way Jade lightly stroked his arm to calm him down or the reassuring look she gave him. When he got called on stage she kissed him softly and gently touched his cheek, silently telling him that he would be alright.

Beck had acted in many plays and had stood on many stages, but this time his performance really counted and so he gave it his all. The moment Helen cried he was relieved because that was hopefully a good sign. When he was done, he waited for Jade and hoped that Helen would understand Jade's way of interpreting art. When his girlfriend came out of the Blackbox Theater and kissed him with a small smile on her face, he knew that it had gone well for her and he couldn't be happier about that.

Two days later in the evening Beck paced nervously around his RV, while Jade told him for the hundredth time to calm down. Cat and Andre had already gotten their call that they could stay at Hollywood Arts, but him and Jade still hadn't. When a phone rang it took Beck a moment to realize that it was his own. The only thing he could do was stare at it until Jade took it away from him and answered it.

"Yes, this is Jade West. I'm his girlfriend so you better expect me to answer his phone." Considering Jade's words the caller had been surprised that it wasn't him on the phone, which was understandable. Jade spoke for a minute with whoever had called before she hung up and sat down on the bed. Of course she was making him ask for what the caller had said.

"That was Helen and after she told me that you could stay at Hollywood Arts she told me that if she had me already on the phone she could tell me that I can stay as well."

The moment Beck heard these words he picked Jade up from the bed and embraced her, only to pull away a few seconds later to kiss her passionately. They were both staying at Hollywood Arts, they could still see each other every day at school and share their love for art in school plays. He couldn't be happy right now and sharing this moment with the girl that he loved so much made it even better.

Jade: Helen Back Again

Of course Sikowitz couldn't be grateful that she had silenced the crowd for him and instead chose to insult her. By now she was used to it and didn't really care. The news that were told immediately afterward however were surprising. Since she had been accepted to Hollywood Arts she had only known Eikner as the principal and Jade couldn't help but think that maybe a little change would do the school and its students good.

When Jade met Helen for the first time in Sikowitz's class and after Helen had demonstrated that she could sing, Jade respected her a little. It took some guts to do that, especially when you were new and still had to made a name for yourself as a principal. However the others didn't seem to share her opinion on Helen.

After Sikowitz's class they all sat down for lunch at their usual table at Asphalt Cafe and the re-auditions and Helen's behavior was all they could talk about.

"This woman is really scary." Andre announced.

Tori, Cat and Robbie agreed wholeheartedly, while Beck stayed silent which worried Jade a little. Sure, Beck normally wasn't scared of anything, but when Sikowitz had asked who was scared of Helen, he had raised his hand as well. Jade thought that maybe not Helen as a person scared him, but that she could kick him out of Hollywood Arts if she didn't like his performance in the re-auditions. Shaking her head Jade thought that she would ask him about that later and for now she would tell the others about her opinion on their new principal.

"I like her." She shrugged and to her surprise Cat nodded her head thoughtfully.

"You and her are very alike." When Jade raised an eyebrow at her, Cat continued. "Well you both aren't afraid to show of your talent and you know what you want in life and are going to do everything to get it. Both two strong-minded and confident women who love art."

"And both are scary." Rex added and Cat frowned at him while Jade threw Rex in a corner, making Robbie cry out and go after him.

Thinking about Cat's words, Jade realized that she was right. Helen and her were similar in a way. Smirking slightly Jade focused on her salad while the others went back to disusing their ideas for their re-auditions. Little did Jade know that she would come to respect Helen even more than she already did.

After her re-audition Helen seemed a little scared but impressed as well and that was exactly the reaction Jade was going for. When Helen told Lane to get Sikowitz back inside for the next performance, Jade had smirked when her teach had ran out scared, Jade was about to go, but Helen held her back.

"Jade West. I was looking forward to your performance and you didn't disappoint. I already told you that I was a manager of a cinema and one of my workers, Josh, came to see your play half a year ago in a theater and he was impressed. He wouldn't shut up about it, which was actually quite annoying, well he did stop when I screamed at him." Jade liked the new principal more and more with each word. "Anyway, the play you wrote and directed seemed to be a good one, but when I asked the old principal about it he told me that he didn't let you perform it at school. I would like to read it and decide for myself and if I like it I want you to perform it at Hollywood Arts."

For a moment Jade was stunned into silence. Helen really wanted to read 'Well Wishes' and maybe let her perform it here? That were the best news regarding her art that she had hear in a while. Maybe she even had to thank that cinema worker for telling Helen about her play.

"I'll give you the script, of course only if I stay at Hollywood Arts." Jade smirked at Helen.

"Of course, only then." Helen mirrored her expression.

When Jade left the Blackbox Theater she thought to herself that Helen as the new principal was definitely something she would like to see play out in the future. Maybe Cat was right after all, they were kind of similar.

Later that week when it was clear that everyone from their group and even Trina, to everyone's surprise, could stay, Helen visited one of Sikowitz's lessons. Jade had a feeling that Helen was only doing that to annoy Sikowitz. Their teacher actually tried to explain something useful and told Jade and a few others to come on stage and perform what he had just taught them. Of course he couldn't let the usual complain about her out of it, after she had pointed out that Sikowitz got distracted slipping his coconut.

"Jade stop being such a gank. I'm watching, but I'm enjoying my coconut at the same time."

From the corner of her eye Jade could see that Beck had stiffened at the name that Sikowitz had been calling her. She was sure that he was about to say something against it, after all they had talked enough about it after the Karaoke Dokie accident, but to her surprise Helen spoke up before Beck could.

"Did you just call one of your students a gank? In my office, Sikowitz. Now." Helen's voice was loud and demanding and Sikowitz flinched but obeyed. When Sikowitz was out the door, clearly making his way to Helen's office, the new principal turned to Jade, her voice quieter again. "I want you to come too."

Jade shrugged and followed Helen outside. She didn't get the feeling that Helen was mad at her. In the principal's office Helen scolded Sikowitz about his behavior and Jade felt herself smirk at her scared teacher.

"You're a teacher and call one of your students, a really talented one might I add, a gank for no reason whatsoever. Who does that?"

"But she was mean again and she-" Helen didn't even let him finish.

"She is your student and a teacher has to behave respectfully to his students. End of discussion. Now apologize."

When Sikowitz really apologized and, after Helen shouted at him to leave her office, ran out screaming Jade thought that Cat was definitely right. Helen and her were a little similar, strong independent women who loved art and yes maybe were a little bit scary too.
