Yui came up to me in class. I glanced at her. This was pretty out of character for her. She preferred to hang with Miura and Hayama. I stared her down unrelentingly as she flinched and hesitated with what she wanted to say. I watched her wrestle with herself for a long time and I did nothing to help her. Not that there was anything I could do to help her. I didn't know what she wanted.
Saika came up to us. "Hey Hachiman," he greeted casually.
"Yo Saika," I leveled back. I glanced back at Yui who was still at war within herself. She was burning and there was nothing I could do for her.
"Oh Yui?" Saika went on. "I didn't expect to see you over here."
"Huh? I'm in the same class…" Yui stammered off.
"Yeah but you don't usually come up to Hachiman. Not in class. It's rare to see you together outside the club."
"Club is disbanded," I grunted. "We're both on the student council now, though."
"Ah I see." Saika nodded adorably. "Well I'll leave you both to it." Saika went to his unassigned assigned seat.
Yui still struggled. I cocked my head at her and waited.
"Come with me to the club room. During lunch." She blurted out.
"Oh is that all?" I wondered.
"Well…"
"It just seemed like you had something important to tell me. That's all."
"Well…"
"Well what?" I shot back. "What? Does it have to do with Yukinoshita?"
"Ah. I guess it does. But it also has to do with Hikki. It's so confusing."
"Try and explain it to me," I pleaded beckoningly.
"Ah! It's just… Yukinon's so pretty. And Hikki's so smart."
"Okay." I granted. But I didn't press her. She seemed to struggle at her own rate. She couldn't leverage the words out of her body. Her whole form seemed wracked by it. I wouldn't be surprised if it bent her. But nothing was forthcoming.
The teacher came in and Yui went to her unassigned assigned seat without another word. She threw herself down and covered her face. She didn't say another word.

Well considering that she told me to go together with her I should be waiting. Even so, there wasn't a need to wait in a conspicuous area.
I walked into the hallway and after taking a few steps I leaned against the wall.
A whole minute had yet to pass when Yui came rushing out of the classroom. She looked around restlessly. She quickly noticed me. She approached me with an upset face.
"Why are you going ahead!?"
"I didn't. I'm just waiting here."
"I can see that…! Huh? Okay, that's good then."
After Yui was conveniently convinced she took a small breathe and readjusted her backpack with some vigor.
"...Shall we get going?"
"I suppose."
We exchanged glances in the hallway and began walking in the direction of the special building. Accomplices in crime came to mind when we exchanged looks. I kept my walking pace more lax than usual. If I went in the same pace as I did normally, I was sure I'd leave Yuigahama behind. Unlike the classroom we were in earlier, the hallway was remarkably colder.
There wasn't a single person who walked by as only our footsteps echoed in the hallway. We merely walked in silence. Yuigahama was lively in class, but she was quiet right now. It was almost as if she was suffering from the backlash from then.
But with the club room almost nearby, Yui spoke up, unable to handle the silence any longer. "Hey…"
"Hm?" When I moaned questioningly back, Yuigahama feebly shook her head.
"…Never mind."
"I see."
I really didn't. I couldn't tell the source of this nervous energy from Yui. But I'd be patient. Time would reveal everything.
Yukinoshita was in the room eating her lunch with a book open. I glanced at her for a moment and greeted her. She greeted me back.
"So this weekend…" Yui began. I glanced at her. Yukinoshita did the same. "This weekend I want to do something…" Yui went on.
"What like get coffee?" I wondered.
"Un! Something like that I guess." Yui answered with a nervous look at Yukinoshita.
Yukinoshita sighed but she did nod. "We could do karaoke if you wanted Yui." Yukinoshita decided.
"N! I was thinking something else. Maybe shopping. Seeing a movie. The three of us…"
"Sure Yui." I answered. It didn't have much truck with me either way.
"The three of us." Yukinoshita nodded. "I was thinking we could bake something with Hikigaya around, maybe."
"I thought you wanted that for us?" Yui protested halfheartedly.
"I did… but… some things could be granted. You often get coffee together. Hikigaya, do you mind if we get coffee as a trio?"
I shrugged absently. "Not really. It's just coffee and talking."
"Oh I know!" Yui blurted. "We could dress him up!"
"What?" I wondered.
"Shopping." Yukinoshita nodded. "Clothes shopping. You don't dress the best," she informed me.
"I dress just fine, thanks." I shot back. "Besides what am I? A doll?"
"Yeah but you're our doll." Yui looked up at me with those big ol' eyes. "Please, for me."
I sighed and shook my head. "Fuck. Fine. I probably won't end up wearing it anyways."
"Yes you will," Yukinoshita leveled back. "You can wear your uniform on school days but on off days you will wear the clothes we get you and you will like it."
There wasn't much I could say to that. If it was that important to Yukinoshita I'd do it.
"Fuck. Fuck! But I'm comfortable in a v-neck and jeans."
"Yeah but you don't get very nice jeans and your socks are white." Yui pointed out.
"And socks shouldn't be white…" I wondered.
"No. You'd look better in black socks with your tennis shoes," Yukinoshita decided.
"He needs new shoes too…" Yui mumbled. "His current ones are kinda trashy."
"Fuck me I get it. I have no style. Just don't fuck around with my v-necks alright."
"You'd look better in a polo though." Yukinoshita dismissed.
"That's true! A nice button up polo." Yui murmured almost in awe. She gazed at me appraisingly and I blushed under the attention.
"I thought I did well enough…" I mumbled.
"Good enough isn't good enough," Yukinoshita informed me brutally. "You'd look nice in some slacks and a polo."
"I thought you'd stick to jeans," I protested.
"Maybe," Yukinoshita thought with pursed lips. She gazed up and down my form and I blushed again.
"Yeah, maybe not." Yui cut in with that same look. I looked away from them. They were too bright as they looked at me like that. It was just too much. I cared about what they thought too much.
There came a knock at the door. I glanced at it. Yukinoshita shrugged and said, "come in," loud enough to be heard out in the hall.
Iroha Isshiki came in at once. "Senpai!" I flinched as she approached me. She made me nervous.
"Oh Iroha won't you take a seat?" Yui pointed across from her at the empty seat.
"Oh thanks Yui-senpai," Iroha took the seat and looked down at the floor.
"What is it?' Yukinoshita pressed.
"Oh um… I need help. You see the soccer club is trying to set up a champions league. But were not really sure where to begin. It's falling on me and Hayama."
"Hayama should have some idea…" I muttered.
"That's what I thought but he suggested I talk to you," Iroha informed us.
"The service club is disbanded," Yukinoshita informed her brutally. "We can't help you."
"That's not necessarily true…" I cut in at a murmur. Yukinoshita glanced at me but said nothing.
"So you really can't help us?" Iroha glanced between us. "We need to work with the other schools to get this set up and funded."
"I can't," Yukinoshita dismissed her.
"Sorry Iroha…" Yui stammered off.
"What about you senpai?" Iroha turned to me. I glanced between the girls for a moment.
"I can probably help you. It depends. We'll have to discuss the details. Do you have time after school today."
"Un!" She nodded.
"Great. I'll be by the southside entrance. You can find me there. Then we can talk shop."
"Hikigaya…" Yukinoshita trailed off. I didn't look at her.
"Oh if it's just senpai I should find it easier to- I mean that should work out better."
"Sure. Alright," I dismissed. "Just don't leave me waiting. We'll see what I can't cook up. I could be busy with student council stuff occasionally. Yukinoshita has something coming up. A bake sale as well as a meeting with another school. I have to be there for that. But besides that I'm free."
"Great. Okay. Thanks senpai."
"No problem," I dismissed again.
Iroha gathered her bag a stood up. She walked real close to me as she made her way to the exit. I watched her go. I still wasn't sure how I felt about her. Not that I knew what I felt about the other girls in this room. But still. My dumbass cluelessness seemed boundless.
"Hikki…" Yui started.
"Yeah? What's up?" I wondered at her.
"Don't do anything rash or irresponsible regarding her." Yukinoshita decided to grant me.
"Sure. No problem."
