"Are you feeling up to record minutes for me today? I've been having Yui do it," Yukinoshita asked me in the room during lunch.
"Sure. I can do that. What all have I missed?" I asked.
"We started selling raffle tickets. The bake sale is a week out. Prom is towards the end of the year. Mid April," Yukinoshita answered.
I nodded along. I had missed some school and student council meetings when Komachi died. I still hadn't gone back to the student council. Well that probably changed today. I took a bite of my roll with ham and hummus and killed it.
"How's planning the prom coming?" I wondered.
"It's slow. We have a venue but no band as of yet. Worst case scenario we set out speakers."
"Sure. It would be better to have a live band or a DJ but what are you going to do? Can we afford a band or a DJ?"
"Maybe. Depends on how the bake sale and raffle go," Yukinoshita answered.
"What do you need from me?" I demanded.
"Sell some tickets," Yui informed me.
I shook my head. "I'm not much of a salesman."
"And you'll never get better unless you practice," Yukinoshita shot.
"Don't belittle me. I'll sell some to my parents but that's it," I fired right back.
"Fine," Yukinoshita huffed. "You could at least be used as an example."
"A good example or a bad example?" I asked.
"You already know."
"Total ice bitch," I muttered under my breath.
"Be nice to one another…" Yui whined.
"Fine."
"Whatever."
"Please?" Yui kept up.
"I already agreed," Yukinoshita informed her.
"I… yeah. Sure," I coupled.
"So are the three of us going to prom together?" Yui pressed.
"What the fuck would that look like?" I demanded again.
"Hey! I don't have answers to everything!" Yui exclaimed.
"I imagine I'd dance with both of you and you two would dance with each other," Yukinoshita answered me. "I also imagine we'd go out to dinner at some fancy restaurant. Maybe rent a limo."
I took a bite of the fudge Yui and Yukinoshita had supplied me with that they cooked the other day.
"I don't know how to dance," I pointed out.
"Neither do I really but don't you want to try with us?" Yui asked me.
I sighed off to the side. I did a little. "What color should my shirt and handkerchief be?" I asked, defeated.
"Well it should match our dresses. You'll also need two rosaries," Yukinoshita answered me.
"Ooh! Let's go dress shopping Yukinon!"
"Yes. Let's," Yukinoshita agreed. "Pick a nice restaurant to take us to and arrange a limo for the evening," she then shot at me.
"This seems like a lot of work…"
"Welcome to the world of having two girlfriends. You'll have to put in effort," Yukinoshita kept up.
"Effort… girlfriends…" I stammered.
Yukinoshita blushed at her own words. She hadn't outright said she was my girlfriend until now even though she kinda was. As was Yui. I hadn't thought about it.
"I'll just rent a tuxedo…" I stammered again.
"And a limo," Yukinoshita reminded.
"Sure. I will. I'll pick a restaurant and make reservations. How do steaks sound?"
"Sounds lovely. Thank you Hikki," Yui smiled at me softly in a way which made my heart ache. I smiled back a little. It was weak underneath. I was scared. I couldn't dance or plan things. I sucked at it. And they were counting on me.
"Just let me know what color the shirt, rosaries, and my handkerchief should be soon. I'll sort out the rest I guess," I grimaced.
"Do you need money?" Yukinoshita asked me.
I shook my head at first then cocked it. "I have no idea how much it costs to rent a limo for an evening. I'll have to figure that out. So maybe. I'll let you know. I think I can pay for everything pretty handily but if I can't I'll ask you for help," I decided. "I'll be fine. It'll be fine."
"Good," Yukinoshita agreed. "We'll go dress shopping… how does this weekend sound Yui?"
"Sounds like a plan Yukinon," Yui grinned.
"Yukinoshita?" I started. I hesitated. She cocked her head at me curiously. "I…" I stammered off for a second. I swallowed. She just waited. "I want to call you by your first name… can I?" I finished.
It was her turn to hesitate. She exhaled a shuddering breath. Out through her nose. "I suppose that's appropriate…" she let out a low hum in thought. "Yes. You may."
"Okay. Cool. I guess," I shrugged it off. Yukino. Yukino, Yukino, Yukino. Yukino. I rather liked it. "And I'd like it if you called me by my first name," I chimed nervously.
"Hachiman?" She murmured.
"Yeah," I answered.
"I can do that," she whispered softly.
"Aw you two!" Yui exclaimed.
"It's not that big of a deal," Yukino denied.
"Yukinoshita-er Yukino is right. It's not." Yukino blushed lightly. Her pale skin turning rosy.
"You two made it a big deal. It was like a proposal!" Yui shouted. "It was so cute." She then whispered.
I blushed. I mean it kinda was a big deal. But I wasn't going to act like it was in front of Yui who would just coo and aw.
"Shut up you…" I muttered under my breath.
"Aw!" Yui kept up. "You're blushing. He's blushing about it. And Yukinon too!"
"Yui…" Yukino reprimanded lightly. It was true. She was blushing lightly.
"Oh fine," Yui grinned enormously at us. "I love you both so much. You both make me so happy."
"I'm glad to be a source of amusement to you. Ever so glad," Yukino rolled her eyes.
"Oh don't be like that. Aren't there thing he and I do which make your heart swell?" Yui fired right back.
Yukino turned scarlet. "Mind your own business," she tried.
"Aw! It's okay. You can tell us. We can do it more if you tell us what it is. Wouldn't you like that?"
Yukino turned impossibly more red. "Mind your business." She tried to glare at Yui but Yui swooned.
"How about you Hikki?" Yui glanced at me with a grin.
"That was pretty cute. I like that type of thing. You teasing her or her teasing you. Whenever you two are sweet on each other I like it," I answered honestly. I tried to give her no leverage. She sharked me anyways.
"Like what?" She pressed.
"Well like on the camping trip. When you slept on one another. When you pet each other. When you kiss each other. I like all that," I tried.
"I already knew that a bit," Yukino cut in.
"How?" Yui asked her.
"He told me when I invited him over to my place once," Yukino shrugged. "After the camping trip."
"Really?" Yui cheshired.
"Yep," I answered. "I mean at that time we mostly talked about you, Yui."
"What about me?"
I glanced at Yukino. Then back at Yui. "Well I told her to lean into her feelings with you."
"Oh. Gotcha. Sounds like a complicated Yukinon-Hikki conversation."
"It kinda was," I agreed. Yukino shot me a betrayed look. "What? It was."
She just sighed.
