"Not an Alt Account!"- Inspired by "The Slayer Gamer"

[Congratulations! You lived a total of 20 years, 216 days, 22 hours, 32 minutes, and 19 seconds! You have been randomly selected to be the next Gamer! Press start to begin!]

It was a floating blue box of text that greeted me here in this dark nothingness. I couldn't even quite remember how I got here. Evidently I died? Funny, I could hardly remember much of my life. Faces and names are gone, just the experience and general feelings remain. That and my knowledge of history and fiction, which was rather ironic. I could remember the plot of hundreds of the books I've read but not the name or look of my parents.

That's… actually a little sad. Come to think of it, I spent more time in the last five years of my life reading or watching videos than I did interacting with people or going out to do things. It was kind of understandable though, given that I couldn't really do anything until I had my own vehicle which was less than a year before 2020, then quite simply nobody went out or had places to go to. Add in full time jobs and a preference for night shifts and the last few years of my life didn't lean towards many opportunities to go out and do things. Still… I was rather healthy if I remember right, so I wonder what managed to kill me?

[You were crushed by a falling shelf at work. A forklift operator wasn't paying attention and backed into it.]

Oh, is that what happened? I tried to chuckle at the irony of a quality technician getting killed by a safety incident, but all that happened was more of a phantom feeling of breath than any sensation. Right, I died, so this is just my soul isn't it?

[Are you going to press start or not?]

Press start? I don't see a start button, and I have no limbs… maybe it's intent based? Press Start. I thought, almost trying to project the concept forward.

1 Int (For figuring it out on your own)

Int? Must be intelligence? So this is like those Gamer fics I read every once and a while?

[Please Enter a Name]

A name? So this is like a character creation? Hmm. Can I wait until the end to select a new name? I'd rather select a name that fits whatever I design rather than the reverse.

[That is acceptable, We'll move on to your race selection then and you can select your name last.]

Race: {Human} {?} {?}

What are those question marks? Subspecies? Heritage?

[Close, they represent possible races from across the multiverse, everything from an animal or demi-human, Vampire or Werewolf, to even Demi-gods and Divine entities. They work like a lottery system so whatever you get is entirely random. The question is, are you feeling lucky, punk?]

Heh, nice reference. Hmm, well I already have 20 years of experience as a human, I'm content enough with that if I end up as some other race I think. If I remember right, these Gamer systems come with an ability that negates any effects on the mind outside of personal abilities, so I would theoretically be fine if I had a race with latent bloodlust or urges.

1 Int (For thinking ahead)

Thank you, system. I should think of a name for you at some point, if you don't have one in mind. But that can wait for now, I still don't even have one myself! Alright, let's hope my karma is still pretty good. Roll the dice!

[Randomized Race selected, Spinning the wheel!]

XXX

Heroic Spirit!

XXX

[Congratulations! You have won the race Heroic Spirit from FATE! Another lottery will be spun for which Heroic Spirit you get to be!]

XXX

Jeanne D'Arc (Alter)!

XXX
[You have won the Avenger class Heroic Spirit, Jeanne D'Arc (Alter)! Congratulations!]

That's pretty cool… but wait. Wasn't I male before this?

I'm a woman now, aren't I?

[Yep, that's part of the system, especially when you end up getting reincarnated as someone else from fiction. Look on the bright side though, you dodged a bullet. Normal servants require a Master for Mana, but Avengers have Self Replenishing Mana skills so you don't have to worry!]

[And… as a Heroic Spirit, you won't have to worry about awkward things like Periods or Female Sanitation since you can't get sick or pregnant, and astralization automatically cleans you. You don't even have to eat, sleep, or breathe to survive!]

I hadn't thought of that… Wow. I really did dodge a bullet. If I had no master as another servant I would've had to kill everything in sight to level up in time to survive the mana drain, and fighting just drains a servant's mana quicker!

[Moving on, Race Gained! Heroic Spirit (Jeanne Alter)]

[Legendary class gained: Avenger (1/100) Grants 4 to Str and Dex per level]

Perk Gained- Avenger, B rank. A skill representing the state of an Avenger as one that gathers people's hatreds and grudges onto oneself. As an old friend, rage is easy to control and fuel but you are inexperienced with other emotions. It is easier for you to accumulate hatred and resentment. Your rate of mana generation becomes higher when receiving damage, up to 2x.

Perk Gained- Self Replenishment (Mana), A rank.Your magical energy endlessly surges until your revenge is accomplished, negating the drain for maintaining your form in reality.

Perk Gained- Dragon Witch, EX rank.Born from the wishes of Gilles de Rais, Jeanne Alter possesses the power of Dragon Kind. Grants increased charisma over Dragons and 15% increased attack power for your party.

Perk Gained- Astralization.Grants a Servant the ability to Astralize, or become intangible as a spirit. Mana consumption is decreased while in this form and the servant effectively becomes a ghost, able to walk through walls and go unnoticed by those without the skills to see spirits.

Perk Gained- Servant's Strength, A rank. Servants are beings beyond the scope of Human capability, and with an A rank in strength, a servant can typically be called 50 times as strong as a normal human. Grants 5 to strength per level

Perk Gained- Servant's Agility, A rank. A servant with the A rank of agility is said to be 50 times as fast and nimble as a regular human. Grants 5 Dex per level

Perk Gained- Servant's Endurance, C rank. A servant with a C rank endurance is said to be 30 times as tough as a normal human. Grants 3 End per level

Perk Gained- Servant's Mana, A rank. A servant with an A rank in Mana is said to have from 50 to 80 times the capacity of a normal human. Grants an additional 6 to Wis and Int per level

Perk Gained- Servant's Luck, E rank."May you live in interesting times." An E rank in Luck is supposed to be ten times that of a human, but rarely pans out that well. You are more likely to be dragged into strange situations and your chances at loot can vary wildly.

Perk Gained- Burning Soul. As an existence based around rage and vengeance, Jeanne Alter has the ability to channel her anger into dark flames. Grants the skill Flames of Hatred.

Perk Gained- Roar, Rage of Mine. A/EX rank. The Noble Phantasm of Jeanne D'Arc Alter, able to capture, empower, then reflect an attack back at the enemy in the form of Dragon Fire. Damage can be increased by the grudges and deaths of allies, and by the corruption or sins of the target(s). Targets become engulfed in flames and stabbed on multiple metal stakes. Grants the Skill "Le Grondement de La Haine"(1/25)

Wow. I really got lucky with that didn't I? I'm a little worried about the eternal hatred and the 'easy to hate' bit, but the benefits outweigh the negatives by a heavy margin. Servants are incredibly overpowered compared to humans, but something tells me I have to work my way up to that level. It would be too easy to just be broken from the start, or god forbid everything becomes scaled to my level. That would end in disaster.

[You're pretty much correct, you'll still start as a level one so you have to put in the work, but this class will give you huge benefits down the line.]

I can see that, looks like I'm going to be more of a high damage high mobility glass cannon, kind of fitting since I like bullet hells. Heh, I should probably make a dodge build. What are the stats again?

Strength: How strong you are, influences your attack

Dexterity: How agile you are, influences your speed and reactions

Endurance: How tough you are, influences your health and resistances

Intelligence: How smart you are, essential for magic

Wisdom: Your ability to apply your smarts, influences your mana efficiency

Charisma: How good you look, and your ability to influence others

Luck: Your likelihood of good fortune, affects everything from daily events and item drops to gacha loot

Well damn. Luck affects gacha and drops? I'm going to need to focus heavily on upgrading that, my E rank luck is already going to set me back. Charisma gives me concerns me though. Jeanne Alter is already pretty, even if her sharper canines, pale skin, and yellow eyes can be a bit unnatural and menacing, how would that stat affect her looks? Well, my looks? Would it just be more of an 'air of beauty' or would it involve physical changes? Something to keep an eye on in the future. What's next?

[Welcome to the Character Creation menu]

A window appeared in the void in front of me, showing me a view of Jeanne Alter in an idle pose. Pale skin and jaw length white hair, a hand on one hip wearing her more casual outfit- a long jacket with a black fur collar and a dark navy dress that only went as low as a mini skirt. Across the sides of the window were a bunch of sliders and options for just about anything and everything customization wise, even options to change gender or… sexual organs. Nope. Not doing that. Deciding to be more faithful to my reincarnation, I ended up only changing a few things about Jeanne's form, slightly deepening the color of her yellow eyes to more of a gold, and giving her a few more inches of height so she was 5'6 instead of 5'2. Well… maybe I also increased her proportions a little bit, but sue me! This is the new me and I want to look good! I'm not maxing the sliders though, it just doesn't fit Jeanne's look. Besides, having huge knockers just seems like a hassle and you don't hear much but complaints from those who have them.

[Please select a Primary class]

[Fighter] [Archer] [Mage] [Rogue]

So, now I get to choose more combat-oriented classes to decide how I fight? Hmm. I'm quick and strong which would lend well to being a fighter or rogue but I have a lot of mana and good mana regeneration, so maybe working towards something like a battlemage would work best for me? I'll pick Mage.

[Please select a specialization]

[Healer] [Battlemage] [Warlock] [Druid] [Necromancer]

Huh, speak of the devil and he shall appear at your shoulder. I'll pick Battlemage.

[Class Gained, Battlemage (1/100) Gain 5 Str, Wis, and Int every level.]

Nice, now what are my stats?

[Not so fast, you still need a name.]

[Please enter your name]

Hmm. I am Jeanne now but at the same time it would be good to have some differences since I'm not truly her… Agh I'm not very creative when it comes to names. My mind is blank. Time to revert to strange and obscure colors! We'll choose… purple. Hmm. Amethyst? Jeanne Amethyst Arc? Jeanne D'Amethyst? This sucks. Fuck it! I'll just go with Jeanne D'Altera.

Wait.

Where am I going after this? I assume I'm getting dropped into another world from fiction once this 'tutorial' is done with.

[It's a surprise!]

Gee, thanks. At least give me a bit of warning if I'm going to have to brace for immediate combat or something.

A blue hole opened up beneath me and I felt my soul getting sucked through. A strange feeling of pins and needles overtook me as I fell, followed by a twisting feeling as I began to feel sensation again in my new body. It honestly felt crazy, and if I didn't have Gamers Mind I would probably be busy freaking out. I ended up tumbling end over end before I fell through something black and hit ground of some type. Feeling like the wind was knocked out of me I took a deep breath and instantly felt that things were different.

Everything smelled fresh, woodsy. Blinking, green flooded my eyes and I realized I was lying on grass. I pushed myself up into a sitting position and instantly noticed an extra weight on my chest. I look down. So this is what it's like? Shaking it off I looked around, noticing the forest I found myself in. The gentle breeze through the pines, the scent of fresh air and the shifting light cast through the canopy of leaves, the soft grass beneath my fingers and legs. Honestly this place was pretty peacefu- OW!

(-5 HP)

Turning, I looked to the right to see who the fuck just threw a rock at my head, only to see an ugly, short, and green creature clad in loincloth, a taunting and arrogant expression on its face. I felt anger flare up at this pitiful creature that just had the gall to throw a rock at me! It even had the nerve to blow a raspberry! THIS LITTLE SHIT!

Goblin scout, lvl 5

HP 200

Thoughts- Arrogant, confident. "This weak girl is an easy target!"

Weak girl?! Easy Target?! I'll show this bitch an easy target! I stood up with fire in my eyes and pure disgust and contempt visible in a scowl on my face. It took me a second to realize the fire was actually real, judging by the slowly palling face of the goblin as its smile started to slip, but I couldn't care less! VENGEANCE was on the menu! I stared the goblin down and started walking towards it, taking pleasure in its fear as it became too afraid of the "weak girl" to move.

This vile creature probably thought me some easy target to beat up, steal from, eat, or maybe even… rape! The thought utterly INFURIATED me, the idea that one of these creatures would sink to violating women. UNACCEPTABLE! The grass around my feet withered and blackened as the fire spread to encompass my body, leaving my clothes untouched.

By now the goblin had fallen on its back and was pathetically trying to scoot backwards out of fear, trying to escape the flaming demoness that had appeared in its forest. Too bad there was no escape from REVENGE! In a quick burst of movement, I snatched up the goblin by the neck and held him aloft, letting him scream in terror as my flames churned and billowed, focusing on my palm as I quickly began to burn him alive.

My flames withered and died and I felt a bit of exhaustion sweep in. I realized with a start I had just expended all of my SP in using those flames unconsciously. Hmm, not good. That would require work. For now though, the goblin still lived. It clawed weakly at my hand around its burned throat, feebly trying to escape my grip. Too bad. I reared up and threw it to the ground.

(-20 hp)

Stepping onto the goblin's back I ground my high-heeled boot into its rib cage, relishing in its suffering before using my other heel to break its neck.

Vengeance, achieved. I felt a rush of satisfaction from seeing its demise, causing me to step back and review what I had just done. I had just charbroiled and tortured a goblin. A living creature. And yet I felt nothing but satisfaction over its death. That was… dangerous, as was the anger and hatred I felt earlier... I would need to practice on controlling myself in the future.

I split the ten skill points into endurance and luck, raising them to 20 and 13 respectively. The stat changes took effect and I briefly shivered as I could feel the changes beneath my skin. Not entirely a bad sensation, it was just… odd. The goblin corpse at my feet dissolved and some loot appeared, floating in space above my kill.

1x Loin cloth

1x Rusty sword

1x Rusty earring

All in all, nearly useless loot. I picked up the rusty sword and looked it over in distaste. It was in deplorable condition, hardly more useful than a weapon to give people tetanus. At some point in its life it was probably a decent European blade but now it was chipped and rusted, the hilt was missing its pommel and it was loosely wrapped in scrap cloth for a handle.

[Luck event triggered!]

Damn my E rank luck. I hear footsteps behind me and doge out of the way as another goblin tries to spear me with a wooden stake. Taking a moment to observe the new arrivals I feel nothing but irritation as the anger from earlier returns.

[Observe](3/100)

Goblin spear scout lvl 7

Goblin sword scout lvl 7

Goblin scout team leader lvl 9

Goblin spear scout lvl 5

Goblin spear scout lvl 7

Thoughts- Revenge, Anger.

They all charge, but I just give an evil smirk as a plan comes to mind. I can't take them all on in a straight fight just yet, at least not without great difficulty, but… I don't have to! After all…

The first scout rams their spear forward in an attempt to skewer me, only to meet air as I fade from view. I can Astralize.

Quickly moving straight through the goblins like a phantom, I reappear only to slice at the leader's neck, expertly drawing the blade just deep enough to swipe through its throat. The leader gapes in surprise before starting to choke on his own blood. I turn to swipe through the leg tendon on a surprised scout before retreating to astral form, reappearing behind the sword goblin who had turned to look at his dying leader before stabbing into its back.

(Sneak attack! 2x damage!)

I give a cruel twist to the blade as the goblin slumps down in shock and pain. I parry the next spear from a goblin before slicing its torso. I sneer at the poor state of my sword as it fails to cleanly cut like a proper blade, only leaving jagged gashes. I throw the rusty sword at the goblin to buy enough time to pick up the blade from the sword goblin. Astralizing again, I inspect the blade to find it of passable quality, if in disrepair from a lack of cleaning and maintenance.

[Old sword obtained]

75 ATK

This will work well enough. I walk around the now panicking scout team as the two goblins I fatally wounded succumbed to their injuries. The remaining three can't even figure out where I am, as in spirit form I don't even disturb the wind or the grass around me. They try to take a defensive circle but that proves useless as I just walk right through one of them into the middle of their formation. I can't help but giggle in amusement as I de-astralize in between them all, taking sadistic pleasure at their surprise as I take the head off the least wounded goblin before parrying the one with the wounded leg, kicking it out from under him before sinking my blade into his chest.

The last remaining goblin drops his spear in panic before turning to run off, clutching his wounded and bleeding chest. I grin as I watch him go, eyeing the trail of blood he was leaving. He can have a minute's head start as a thank you for leading me to his base! Never let it be said I wasn't generous. I flick the blade to the side, ridding it of the most blood as I waited to collect the loot left behind by the other four.

Hmm, my mana was getting pretty good, I need to learn some spells soon so I can start taking advantage of it. As for the 20 stat points, I shove another 7 into Endurance and 13 into luck, bringing them up to 30 and 26. I should probably put a few towards charisma but right now it's not as important as my endurance and bettering my E rank luck. Meanwhile, the bodies dissolve into loot and I am given the epiphany as to where to keep it all.

Wait.

I have an inventory, don't I? I gotta have one.

[Inventory]

A blue window appears before me showing rows and rows of empty space, just waiting for me to start hoarding things… I put in

2x Wooden spear (poor)

1x Rusty spear (poor)

1x Rusty sword (poor)

3x Dried jerky

1x Silver locket (uncommon)

There were some more loincloths as well as loot but there was no way I was going to carry around any items that had touched the junk of a goblin. The locket was interesting, but only in that it had probably been stolen from someone they robbed. I didn't hold much confidence that their victims had survived for me to return it. Perhaps I would stumble upon a use for it someday?

Deciding I had waited long enough, I started after the trail of blood the goblin had left, taking more of a leisurely stroll through the forest. I was in no rush to keep them off guard, let them stew in their fear while they prepared whatever defenses they wished, it wouldn't save them. A few minutes later the trail led to a small village of straw huts and timber walls, almost the picture of a tribal village if it wasn't for the desecrated and maimed corpses strung up like cattle in one part next to a communal fire. So they do eat humans. Disgusting. My rage began mounting as I took in all the details, from the way the victims had been treated as nothing but livestock to the empty and bloodstained cages.

Such… Filth must be purged! I was only dimly aware I was on fire again as my feet took me to the entrance of the village, where a small force of goblins had assembled in its defense.

[Terrifying Presence]

A pair of goblins in the vanguard dropped their weapons and ran back into the settlement as my gaze raked over their line while the rest froze in fear, trying to put up a brave front. My mouth curled in a sneer, my sharper-than-human canines on display for all to see. I was going to enjoy this. I focused my anger, and on instinct cut an arc through the air in front of me, sending a wave of dark flames that washed over the defending goblins.

[New Skill Obtained!]

Flame Lash- 20 SP, 20 MP (1/100)

Lash out with your flames and send forth a wave of burning retribution!

The defensive line was quickly reduced to running around like headless chickens as the flames clung to their skin and clothes like napalm, chewing through their flesh. One goblin wasn't looking where he was going in his panic and ran into a house, lighting its roof on fire before another stumbled into a brazier and spilled its contents across a wall, and now the entire village was poised to burn down. Perfect. I sent another Flame Lash out at a clump of houses, lighting them up like tinder as I strolled into the village, cutting down everything in my way. None of these goblins would survive this.

[Level up!]

I ignored it for the time being as I was too busy hacking down one of the few goblins that had managed to put up a fight, parrying their spear into the dirt before stabbing them through the heart. By now the flames were spreading, and anyone unlucky enough to be caught on fire was doomed to perish as the flames consumed them. The smell of smoke and charred flesh filled the air, yet I found it oddly therapeutic… I need to get checked by a psychologist whenever I get dumped into the next world.

The remaining goblins posed no challenge, as there was simply no cohesion or tactics left in the goblins with half of their village on fire. Eventually I reached the end, where what looked like the biggest house in the village was.

Warning!

Boss incoming!

With a great bellow, a big goblin at least seven feet tall burst through the hut's door, taking in all the destruction before settling its eyes on me. I felt its lecherous gaze as it trailed my body and gritted my teeth in disgust.

[Observe]

Hobgoblin Chieftain, lvl 25

HP- 2500

Thoughts- Lust, Anger

It let out a roar of challenge before charging, bringing its club up high to try and take me out in one blow. Acting on instinct once again, I tossed my blade to the side before doing a twirling motion with my hands, drawing upon my magic. A long black pole formed in my grip before revealing a large white and black flag at one end, capped with a sharp cone like a jousting lance. Words came to my mind and I let my hatred flow as I spoke the Aria.

"All evil is here."

"The time for revenge has come!"

"This is the roar of my soul that was polished by hatred!"

The Hobgoblin's club came down to meet my head only to be blocked, as if there was an invisible wall in front of the flagpole. The area exploded into flames as I twirled the Cursed Flag, feeling nothing but warmth at the heat of Dragon fire. Aiming the tip of the flagpole at the stunned enemy, I roared the last of the Noble Phantasm.

"Le Grondement de La Haine!" Flames burst forth in a tidal wave, engulfing the chieftain before spears erupted from the ground, impaling him into the air. The fire rose as the heat increased, leading up to a grand crescendo of Dragonfire, baking the air dry. There was nothing but the roar of flames for a few seconds before the phantasm ended, letting the charred corpse of the village leader fall to the ground.

[Critical Hit x3! -3360 hp]

I panted in exertion for a few moments, leaning on the flagpole before it disappeared, leaving me to stumble for a second. Using all that magic had taken more out of me than I thought it would. Checking my MP I grimaced.

MP- 10/530

That last level up was the only reason I was able to even use my Noble Phantasm, and I wasn't very comfortable with the idea of running out of Mana. I may generate enough to negate the drain but I didn't want to find out if I would die by overexerting myself.

Wait, how much damage did my NP do again? It was 20 times my strength, which is now 56, which would've been… 1120? That wasn't even half his health! Thank fuck for the critical modifier, or else I wouldn't have actually killed him in one blow!

You've been around the block a few times, 30% decreased chance of making a bad choice

Studious- Passive

Wow, some good perks there! I shivered as the effects took place. I certainly felt light on my feet now, and those perks from Wis and Int would prove very useful in the future.

[Upon reaching level 5 you have unlocked Production Classes! Please choose a class.]

Alchemist

Runesmith

Artificer

Blacksmith

Enchanter

Jewelcrafter

Engineer

Hmm, all of those sound interesting and each has promise… but there is only one that even remotely seems like it deals with modern tech. I pick Engineer.

[Class Gained! Engineer (1/100)]

3 Wis and Int per level

Skills Gained

Design device-

Allows you to design a device or machine to accomplish a goal or solve a problem

Prototyping-

Lets you build any device or machine you have a design for, requires materials

Hands on-

By working on a machine or invention you gain an understanding of how it works. Complete disassembly provides the designs of the object

Reinforcement-

Lets you spend mana to upgrade aspects of artificial constructs

3x Design Packs added

That's pretty good, now I can design weapons and other tools, even machines to assist me in future endeavors.

[Gamer Shop Unlocked]

Gamer shop? Must be something like the Steam market where people can buy and sell items, interesting. Speaking of Items, I got some good ones, didn't I? A spellbook, some gacha tokens and the design packs, right? I take the spellbook out of my inventory, noting the familiar cover of a spell tome from Skyrim. I open the book and the pages start turning on their own, creating a small breeze before it reaches the end and it dissolves into motes of light.

Spell Learned-

Flames- 40mp per second (1/100)

The standard flame spell from Skyrim, sends a stream of flames out from your palms. Can be dual cast.

Nice, my first proper spell! With all the mana I'm going to have, I should make it a mission to find some more destructive spells, maybe even something that allows me to fly? That would be awesome. Before I open the other packs though, I should put some points into my luck. I split the 60 stat points, with 39 into endurance bringing it to 75, and dump the rest into luck, raising it to 52.

Time to try my luck at the Gacha!

4x Gacha token (common) Used!

Loot-

1x My Pillow (common)

1x Double Gulp Cherry slushie (common)

1x 50,000

1x Pretty Boy's Pocket Pistol (rare)

Oo, that pistol could be pretty useful in a pinch, as long as its vampirism stays true. Next!

1x Gacha token (epic) Used!

1x Icebreaker (Legendary)

Icebreaker? I pull the item from my inventory and I am hit with a rush of realization as a long, futuristic white and red rifle with strange heat shielding on its barrel drops into my hands. The Icebreaker Sniper rifle from Destiny 1! Not only does this thing replenish its own ammunition, but its victims explode when killed! I give my new favorite toy a hug before returning it to my inventory. Time to see what these design packs have for me.

3x Design packs used!

A screen appears in front of me where each pack acts like a sealed card deck, splitting into three cards per pack.

Loot-

1x Harpoon gun design

1x Gen1 Synth design (Fallout)

2x FixIt materials cache (SatisFactory)

1x Lawn Mower design

1x Javelin AT design

1x Material Harvester design (Titanfall)

1x USS Intrepid CV-11 design

1x TranStar Engineering operator design (Prey)

Some pretty interesting designs, but a full on aircraft carrier? Would I even have a use for one? At least it gave me some supplies to build things with, and a harvester for more. If I'm going to be building things on any large scale, those synths and engineering operators are going to be vital to expanding automation.

I blink and find myself on a grassy hill overlooking a rocky coastal shoreline, a chilly breeze flowing in from the sea's waves. Looking around, I note a port town off to my left maybe a mile or two away with a long set of docks providing harbor for ships of many types. Galleons and fishing trawlers of all sizes, wooden in construction with canvas sails. Carts pulled by horses follow beaten paths to and from the city, ferrying supplies and cargo from the busy docks.

Where am I? Some pirate movie?

[Nope! Welcome to Re-Ulovale, the Northernmost port city of the Re-Estize Kingdom.]

[Welcome to the New World of Overlord!]

Quest Obtained

[To Rule The World]

Objective 1- Give rise to the first national Superpower

Objective 2- Kill/subdue the Elven King

Objective 3- Kill/subdue the Dragon Lord Cure Elim

Bonus Objective 1- Take down the Slane Theocracy

Bonus Objective 2- ?

Bonus Objective 3- ?

Rewards- 1,000,000 Xp, 1,000,000, Mythic Gacha token, (?)

Oh. Well… Thank you for spawning me away from Nazarick from the time being, I'm not in any position to even risk running into the members of the Tomb just yet… and, honestly? Why should I? Less than a handful of entities from this world could ever pose a threat to the main characters, and with someone like Demiurge behind the scenes Ainz's rule is all but assured, and I don't want to make enemies of someone who can enforce the concept of death on literally anything. Not to mention- if I tried to become friends with Ainz as I am now, Albedo would probably decide to have me taken out just to remove the possibility that I might seduce him from her.

Yeah no. I might be able to trust Ainz and a few of the NPCs, but there were far too many that would just as eagerly kill me if I so much as looked at them for me to think of talking to them yet. I would need to at least be level 60 before I so much as entertained the idea of approaching them.

Anyways, I need to plan my other exploits for this world. Items of immediate importance are going to be involving the Slane Theocracy and the Platinum Dragon Lord's stash from the 8 greed kings. I don't trust either of them to be left alone with all their treasures, especially not items like the Downfall of Castle and Country. I wonder if my astralization works like the spell Perfect Unknowable? Something to test later. I would love to just waltz into their vaults and nick everything not nailed down but I'm not sure if I can be noticed while Astralized by some of the stronger beings in this world. I also need to work out countermeasures to scrying but my hope is that items placed in my inventory will be beyond their sight.

I also need to figure out a way to keep an eye on things from afar, preferably some kind of bugs I can plant that won't be noticed by magic. So many plans, so much on the agenda! First things first though, I need to make my own base somewhere where I can invent and build things in secret, then figure out exactly where I am in the timeline- as in if I'm here earlier than the server shutdown or right at the start of the show. I might also want to sign up with the adventurers guild to make some cash on the side and to 'get out of the house' so to speak if I start to burn out on Instant dungeons or brainstorming my tech.

Speaking of my tech… I need to figure out a way to make it blend in more with this world, something that makes it look more fantasy, yet believable. The instant Ainz lays eyes on anything modern or scientific looking he will be suspicious enough to look deeper, and having any advanced machinery or tech is just exceptional enough to gain his interest anyways. The last thing I need is Demiurge getting wind of me and deciding I would be useful for his 'experiments'. Yet another reason to stay out of their way and to gain enough strength they can't just Roflstomp me.

I need someplace secluded enough to escape notice from Ainz and his familiars for at least several months, and some kind of fast transportation method to move around so that I can conduct operations around the continent with impunity as needed… I look back at the recent designs I received, then the open ocean in front of me. Perhaps I will have a use for an Aircraft Carrier after all…

}x{

Of course, as I found, it wasn't that simple. Nothing ever is. I think bitterly. The material caches I got from the gacha earlier weren't actually that big, and certainly didn't contain the 64 tons of steel and other materials needed to build a massive warship like the USS Intrepid, or the fuel I would need. What it did contain, however, was enough varied and exotic raw materials to make an engineering operator or two and the Material harvester from Titanfall, something I was a bit leery to use considering in the game it sends a giant beam of light into the sky. It was a sincere hope of mine that the beam was only to send materials into orbit, and not a critical function. All hope was not lost though as this setback simply meant I needed to set up a temporary base to resolve my issues.

I hadn't remained idle whilst I plotted, instead spending time exploring along the coast in the opposite direction of Re-Ulovale, towards the border where the Re-Estize Kingdom met the Baharuth Empire. I wasn't planning to hop countries, but instead take advantage of the reason the border was here- the Azerlisia Mountains. My hope was that since there were barely any trails that traveled through the natural land barrier that I could find someplace secluded next to the coast to set up camp, and after several hours of jogging to reach the Azerlisias, I found the perfect spot.

It was a Cove under a steep cliffside, about as tall as a ten story building and wide enough for a pair of galleons to sail in. The perfect pirate's hideaway... and that was exactly who was occupying it at the moment. Pirates. A medium sized ship with a few cannons on its deck lay anchored in the cove, its rowboats moored on a makeshift dock built on one of the few shores that lined the walls of stone. A fire was blazing while a crew of unkempt and bearded men sang some kind of shanty, clearly celebrating their most recent heist as they drank beer and enjoyed their spoils. A few men were left on the ship itself, tending to various tasks.

All in all it was a nicely secluded place for these pirates to set up their operations and hide from any navies. It was almost move-in ready too! It just needed a bit of... cleaning first, and I was more than happy to evict its current tenants.

Quest added!

[Finders keepers]

Objective 1- Kill all pirates/force them to leave

Objective 2- Kill Captain Neverbar

Bonus objective- (?)

Rewards- 1000xp, 500, Home Base, (?)

I pulled out Icebreaker and let it charge up its clip while I advanced to an outcropping of rock in the cove, making my own little sniper perch with a good view of the ship.

Four shots, then six seconds recharge per shot, which thankfully isn't canceled by shooting so I can get a few extra off before they start organizing. One of the fun parts of Destiny weapons is they are powerful enough that bullet drop is almost nonexistent, or at least the computer in the weapon automatically compensates for it, so all I need to do is align the reticle right over their head and...

Crack!

(Sneak attack, x2 damage!)

Damn! This is a loud gun! The head of the pirate I shot gets turned into a fine red mist before the incredible heat transferred by the bullet causes their body to explode in a gory example of thermal expansion, painting a few nearby pirates with their comrade's flaming remains. Panic breaks out and I down another four before they start retreating to their boats, which only makes them easier targets as they forsake cover in their escape. Amateurs.

I give them a moment or two of respite to lull them into the idea of safety before I check on the activities on the deck of the ship. Looks like one of them spotted me since they are trying to get a cannon to face my direction. Well, we can't have that now, can we? I spy a few barrels nearby the cannons before an evil idea springs up. I wait until the pirates from the rowboats start climbing the side of the ship and boarding next to the cannon before I shoot one of the red painted barrels.

KABOOM!

Ahh, what a beautiful sight! The shockwave reaches me only a moment later to ruffle my hair, pushing a bit of a warm breeze into my face. The gunpowder barrel I shot utterly decimated that section of the ship, sending wooden planks and bits of men flying. Fire was now spreading on the deck and one of the sails, causing further panic. A big guy with a cool hat exits the captain's quarters, cutlass in hand as he takes in the chaos before receiving a bullet to the chest which leaves a cauterized tunnel the size of a golf ball. He staggers and grabs a nearby railing, but he's still breathing so I line up a more careful shot that pulps the hand clutching his chest and into where his heart should be.

[Level Up!]

Guess that was the boss. Rather anti-climactic but I'm not going to complain. Given the choice between just shooting someone or risking life and limb in a direct confrontation I'd much rather take the laid back option, thank you very much. It's too bad I can't do this all the time, gonna have to get my hands dirty if I become an adventurer.

I remain on my perch for another minute, letting a few crewmen put out the fire before culling them. Only a few remained, deciding to hunker down inside the ship. They must be the smart ones. I return Icebreaker to my inventory before putting in my coat and boots as well, swimming over through the chilly water to the ladder on their ship. I pull myself up a few rungs, shivering in the cool ocean breeze while dripping wet.

[Skill gained- Swimming]

I astralize to get rid of the water and to negate the wind before climbing the rest of the way up. The deck is empty aside from bodies, and the earlier explosion blew a hole through to the floor beneath it, showing damaged cargo boxes and torn bags. I remain in my astral form just in case they have an ambush planned before plundering the captain's cabin of his few treasures.

Loot obtained!

1x Golden spyglass

1x Flintlock pistol

2x Ivory horns

400x Gold coins

Not bad, now let's see what was below decks. My steps don't even disturb the wood of the stairs as I descend into the cargo hold, eyeing the remaining seven or so pirates at the ready behind pieces of cover. Most of them have simple swords, but the two rearmost have blunderbusses. All of them are antsy, eyeing the entrance intensely and wetting their lips. I inwardly scoff and simply brush through them, inspecting the various contents stored. Overall it was disappointing, only the usual fare of food and maintenance supplies with some extras of various goods undoubtedly stolen from other ships.

Unsatisfied with the results, I look around again before deciding to make things interesting. I discreetly steal a crate of cannon balls and a pair of gunpowder barrels with my inventory before returning topside. De-astralizing, I stuff several cannonballs into each of the barrels along their sides before sticking a fuse from an unused cannon into each.

[Makeshift pipe-bomb x2 crafted!]

[You are one crazy motherfucker, you know that?]

Hell yeah! Sanity is overrated! I stick one bomb into my inventory for later use and roll the other to the stairs, just out of sight of the pirates before I use my new spell to ignite the fuse. I kick the barrel down before booking it to the side of the ship, actually managing a leap of about twenty feet off the side of the ship before I hit the water. I turn around and backstroke as I hear panicked shouts before the fuse reaches the barrel bomb I made.

Kra-Koom!

I can't help but laugh maniacally as the bomb did its job perfectly. Cannonballs were sent through the ship's walls and floor, inviting water in as the blast sent shrapnel everywhere.

KRA-KA-THOOOOM!

Oo! Secondary explosions! I 'ahh' in awe as a huge chunk of the ship blows out and a wave of heat washes over me. I admire the flaming wreckage as I reach the shore where their camp was set, sitting on a barrel of supplies to watch as the ship continued to sink, roaring flames enveloping its deck. Ahh, what a beautiful sight.

[Explosives Expert- Passive (1/100)]

You know how to get the most bang for your buck! Explosives you build deal an extra 30% damage.

[Territory management unlocked!]

Ahh, what an eventful day. The sun is starting to go down, the 'Jolly Jane' is almost completely sunk, and I have a brand new base to build up. I think I can afford to spend a few hours clearing instant dungeons before tomorrow, I don't need to sleep after all. The sun starts to set as I am whisked away, ready to burn some green meanies.

}x{

As the morning rose, I finished with what was probably my 14th run of the goblin dungeon, having finally reached level 16. The enemies changed some, having different bosses and sometimes different locations, but they weren't too hard to deal with as long as you were smart about how you handled things. That said though... there was something satisfying about just chasing them down with my magic flamethrowers. It wasn't like they could fight back, they rarely had enemies with ranged weapons to counter it so it was far too easy to just burn through them.

Seeing the horizon tint with the orange of a rising sun, I decided to review what I had collected over the night.

Loot gained!

43x Rusty spears

27x Rusty swords

8x Fine swords

2x Wooden bows

1x Stone club

13x Gacha tokens (common)

4x Gacha tokens (rare)

1x Gacha tokens (epic)

The stone club was from a rather brutish ogre boss that was pretty strong, but he was slow as fuck! I danced around him easily while roasting him alive, blinding him with my flames and leading him into his own minions for entertainment before ending his misery. I had invented many new schemes over the course of the night to make things entertaining, ranging from throwing rocks at a pair of guards to trick them into attacking each other to defeating a scout group using nothing but a tree branch. Throughout it all I gained a few new skills-

[Catch this!- Passive (3/100)]

You're an avid thrower of anything and everything, deal 35% more damage when throwing things

[Sneak- Active (6/100)]

"Just follow my moves and sneak around, be careful not to make a sound!" Become 40% harder to detect when sneaking

[Trickster- Active (4/100)]

Messing with people is an art! Enemies will lose their temper more easily when fighting you, and are easier to manipulate

[Dodge- Passive (3/100)]

"If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a bullet." Gain a 10% chance of escaping a sure hit.

Not bad on the stats and perks but I really need to dump some into charisma and luck. I put 7 points into End to bring it to 100, then 30 into Cha and the remaining 23 into Luck, bringing it to 75.

For reaching 100 in Endurance, you get a perk!

13x Gacha tokens(common) used!

1x UV/Flashlight combo (common)

Some useful items this time! I pull out Galdur's Blackblade, taking in the black metal construction and the slightly glowing arcane enchantment. Vampirism is very useful, this might be my go-to for adventuring work in the future. I put it back into my inventory and pull out the perk book. It fades to motes of light as I open it, getting a new notification.

[Perk obtained!]

[Bloody mess]

Random enemies in visual range have a 0.5% chance to spontaneously explode, stunning all nearby enemies

Sooo, you're telling me that at any moment, at any time, an enemy could just explode upon seeing me? I must be a real... bombshellbeauty!

[That was a bad joke and you know it.]

Oh bite me, I had to make some kind of joke. Moving on...

4x Gacha token (rare) used!

1x Music Box (epic)

1x SPAS Combat Shotgun (rare)

1x Box of Every Flavor Beans (Harry Potter) (rare)

1x Medi-Gel (Mass Effect) (epic)

Nice, the Spas is rather iconic, and if it wasn't so expensive/exclusive I would've bought one in my last life. Medi-gel would also be a lifesaver if I could reverse engineer it. What's the music box, and why is it epic?

[That music box is actually a system compatible feature that allows you to listen to whatever music you find. It can even be programmed to play certain songs like background music for boss fights or specific events.]

No shit? That's actually pretty damn cool. Is it just me that hears the music or is it area based?

[You can choose personal stereo and group listening modes which allows only specific people, or you can use Environment mode to project the sound around the area to make your own ambience or boss fight music.]

That is awesome. I can make the "Why do I hear Boss music" meme a reality! Alright, time for the last token.

1x Gacha token (epic) used!

1x Companion gem- Dell Conagher (Team Fortress 2) (Legendary)

I get to work with the Engineer from Tf2? Hell yeah! If there is anyone I could trust to help get my tech built up it would be him. His sentry guns and teleporters could be vital to my operations, and he probably knows how to make the medi-gun considering his dispensers use a version of it. Should I summon him yet though? Mmm... no. Not yet. I haven't even started on the Intrepid, much less built up a temporary base. While I could use his help, I don't exactly have a place for him to work from yet.

That needs to change, today. I access the territory management menu and look around the cave, deciding to set the Harvester on the shore I'm on since it's the largest piece of land here. By straight up passing off the work of building it to the territory system, a ghostly blue outline of the harvester appears on the sand with a countdown of five hours. I repeat the process with a pair of Engineering operators off to the side who result in a much better countdown of only thirty minutes.

Now the wait... ugh.

}x{

A/N: So, it's been a while but I've had this idea bouncing around my head for a while and I really wanted to flesh it out.

Before any of you get mad over aspects of this story, I want you to know that this is more than anything a sandbox, and my first time trying to write a gamer style fic. I've had some help from the wonderful writer "Wandering Ursa", who has an amazing gamer fic of their own called "The Slayer Gamer" that I took Inspirations from, but I'm still liable to slip up.

Math was never my best subject and I've rarely played games like DnD, so don't get too mad when I start ignoring things like damage numbers or attack power in favor of writing a fight in a more realistic fashion.

All that said, Don't expect frequent updates either. I have a busy job and while I have momentum for now in writing this story, once that falters it's likely updates will start petering out over a few months like so many other of my fics. It saddens me to leave some works unfinished but sometimes I just hit a brick wall and can't find the motivation to bust through it... So, please enjoy it while it lasts, and I hope to inspire some to write their own fics.

I already have the second chapter in progress but I might not post that until I have the third finished, trying to keep ahead of myself to keep this going as long as I can.
