A/N: The time has finally come, my faithful readers. The moment you've long been waiting for has finally arrived. Ultimate Custom Night, and the completion of the William Afton's defeat! A fate that is most certainly deserved after the shit he tried to pull as Nightmare Springtrap a few chapters ago.
As I promised before, there will be new animatronics in this UCN, as well as existing animatronics that will have their mechanics revamped to make them harder and more dangerous than they ever were in the original UCN. Remember how Bonnie is a free 200 points in the original UCN because you could just keep the camera away from him and he couldn't even kill you even if you messed up? Yeah, no, the Nightmares aren't that merciful.
I'm going to be doing the UCN in multiple scattered chapters as opposed to a single overarching arc, because there's only so much I could write about the UCN before I get burned out or run out of ideas or whatever. This also makes it so that I can solidify the ideas that are floating around in my head but still haven't settled down properly yet.
If you like seeing William Afton suffer, this chapter will hopefully be for you. But WARNING: Graphic scenes of torture and mutilation up ahead.
Sweeting: I don't think I've seen those tapes yet. I might take a look at them when I have time.
DeathTheWolf: Huh, I never actually brought up Jeremy's wounds, did I? I'm honestly not 100% sure how exactly William killed him, but you can assume it was either the same or a similar method to how he killed Gabe, Susie, or Fritz. As for Cassidy…I don't have a concrete idea of how she was murdered, but I have this inkling that it was more brutal than the four main Freddy Fazbear kids…
Fiamma: Sure, I don't have a problem with you using a single phrase.
Stew: Thank you very much for your kind review!
Chapter 97 – Ultimate Custom Night 1
The Afterlife, the Crimson Lake
"WE HAVE FINISHED OUR PREPARATIONS, LORD CONSEQUENCES," Nightmare hissed as he approached the figure seated at the edge of the lake. "THE CHAMBER IS NOW COMPLETE, AS ARE THE ELEMENTS OF WILLIAM AFTON'S IMPENDING PUNISHMENT."
Old Man Consequences looked up, gazed coolly at the demon lord with his black empty eyes, and his jaws stretched into a smile. "GOOD…." The crocodile-headed entity grinned. "THEN LET US SEE HOW WILLIAM AFTON WILL TAKE TO HIS NEWEST HUMILIATION," he declared, his voice dripping with amusement. "EVEN IF HIS ARROGANCE DOES NOT CRUMBLE, AT LEAST HIS TORMENT WILL PROVIDE FOR QUITE THE SHOW." The grin faded, and his next words carried with them the authority of a commander. "THE TIME HAS COME, NIGHTMARE. YOU MAY BEGIN."
Nightmare bowed his head, his own fangs stretching into a cruel grin. "IT WILL BE DONE, MY LORD."
Meanwhile…
"That was a blast!" Jeremy declared as Mike drove his car home. In keeping with his promise to try and alleviate the kids' boredom, Mike had taken them all to another camping trip, a proper one without the shadow of William Afton's demented madhouse or the destruction of the Marionette hanging over their heads. As the main nature lover of the family, Jeremy had been positively delighted while some of the others had only moderately enjoyed the experience, but all of them were happy for the change of scenery after being cooped up in the house for two weeks.
"Feels good doing something else for a change," Susie commented. "Was seriously getting bored."
"It's been a while since I've done a good hike," Mike added as he saw his outer gate come into view. "I've forgotten how many beautiful things you can see when you're out in nature." As he opened up the gate and drove the small road up to his house, his peripheral vision caught Charlie suddenly jolt in shock. "Charlie?" he asked, immediately concerned. "Are you all right?"
"I…I think I feel something…familiar," Charlie replied uncertainly. "It…it almost feels like as though…" she concentrated for a second, then her eyes widened in shock. "Nightmare's in our house!" she exclaimed.
"Wait, WHAT?" everyone exclaimed as Mike smacked his palm with his forehead and let out a growl under his breath.
"God dammit," he snarled. "If William Afton somehow managed to escape Hell AGAIN…"
"Well, the house hasn't been torn to shreds, so that's a good sign," Fritz suggested as Mike and the ghosts got out of the car. "…Right?"
"Only one way to find out," Gabe muttered. "Be careful, guys…"
"You don't have to tell us that twice," Liz mumbled back as Mike carefully approached the front door, the ghosts trailing closely behind. The man turned his key into the lock and pushed the door open, slowly advancing into the house.
And just as Charlie had warned, Nightmare was waiting for them, sitting comfortably on the sofa in the living room. "AH, SCHMIDTS…" the demon lord greeted them, clearly amused at their expressions. "IT APPEARS I TIMED MY ARRIVAL INTO YOUR ABODE WELL."
"Nightmare," Mike greeted him neutrally, doing his best not to express any hostility to Nightmare despite his clear displeasure at the intrusion in his house. "So you've decided to make yourself at home."
"YOU DON'T SEEM PLEASED TO SEE ME. AND HERE I THOUGHT WE WERE GETTING ALONG SO WELL…" Nightmare drawled.
"I said I forgave you, and I have. But that doesn't mean I'm going to be happy to see you, considering that every time you've appeared in my house, the shit has well and truly hit the fan in one way or another," Mike retorted.
"A FAIR POINT," Nightmare had to concede. "FORTUNATELY, I BEAR NO ILL TIDINGS FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN THIS PARTICULAR CIRCUMSTANCE. QUITE THE CONTRARY, IN FACT."
"So, you have…good news…for us?" Gabe ventured, trying hard not to flinch as Nightmare turned his gaze upon him.
The demonic bear grinned. "INDEED. WE HAVE FINISHED DESIGNING OUR LATEST TORMENT FOR WILLIAM AFTON, ONE THAT IS QUITE…UNIQUE…IN NATURE COMPARED TO OUR MORE STANDARD PUNISHMENTS," he answered. "ONE THAT IS MEANT TO HUMILIATE HIM IN FRONT OF ALL OF HELL AND BREAK HIS INSUFFERABLE ARROGANCE."
"What do you mean?" Liz asked, curiosity overcoming her fear.
"OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS, WHILE MY SIBLINGS HAVE UNLEASHED THEIR FURY UPON WILLIAM IN EVER MORE HORRIBLE WAYS, I HAVE WORKED WITH MY ALLIES TO CREATE A SPECIAL PRISON FOR WILLIAM AFTON," Nightmare explained.
"A special prison, huh?" Fritz snorted. "The bastard deserves one, that's for sure!"
"WILLIAM AFTON FORCED MANY INNOCENTS TO SUFFER," Nightmare continued. "AND UNLESS YOU ARE A SPECIAL BREED OF IMBECILE, YOU KNOW FULL WELL WHO SUFFERED THE MOST BECAUSE OF HIS CRUELTY. BUT LET US NOT FORGET THE MANY NIGHT GUARDS WHO YOU HAVE HUNTED DOWN," the ghosts flinched and shuffled about guiltily as Mike glared at the demon for reopening that particular wound. "YOU MAY HAVE BEEN THE ONES TO END SOME OF THEIR LIVES DIRECTLY, BUT IT IS ONLY BECAUSE OF WILLIAM AFTON'S MURDERS THAT THOSE NIGHT GUARDS WERE EVER IN DANGER TO BEGIN WITH."
"Are you going to get to the point anytime soon or should I start taking notes for a fucking college lecture?" Mike growled, his temper flared by the looks of shame he could see on his kids' faces because of Nightmare's words.
If Nightmare was irritated by the man's interruption, he didn't show it. "THE POINT, SCHMIDT, IS THAT THE SUFFERING CAUSED BY WILLIAM PRIMARILY FALLS UNDER TWO CATEGORIES: A CRUEL, AGONIZING DEATH FOLLOWED BY ENSLAVEMENT OF THE SOUL IN THE METAL BODY OF AN ANIMATRONIC. AND THE PROLONGED, DESPERATE STRUGGLE OF A CORNERED VICTIM FIGHTING OFF BOTH THOSE TWISTED METAL CREATIONS AND THE WEAKNESSES OF HIS OWN MIND," Nightmare pointed out. "HE HAS ALREADY SUFFERED THE FIRST."
"But not the second one," Gabe murmured, the realization hitting him as well. "That bastard never had to deal with what we put Dad through for days and days."
"AN ERROR OF HIS FATE THAT WE ARE ABOUT TO CORRECT. AND OF COURSE…" Nightmare's mouth stretched into a grin of razor sharp fangs. "…HIS PUNISHMENT SHALL BE FAR MORE BRUTAL AND HIS CHALLENGE FAR MORE DIFFICULT THAN WHAT WAS DEFINED BY REALITY. AND THAT IS WHAT I AM OFFERING YOU THIS DAY: AN OPPORTUNITY TO SEE WILLIAM AFTON SUFFER," Nightmare offered. "I BRING YOU THIS GIFT OUT OF MY RESPECT FOR YOUR FATHER, WITH NO CAVEATS, NO TRICKERY OR HIDDEN DECEIT. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT IT WOULD BE HIGHLY AMUSING."
"Thank you for not insulting our intelligence by claiming that you're offering this out of the goodness of your heart or some bullshit like that," Mike drawled, earning a scoff from the demon lord. The ghosts looked questioningly at Mike, who shrugged. "It's up to you," he answered the unspoken question. "I know what the right thing to do would be, but I can't force you to do it. Especially not after I slaughtered the shit out of William Afton so brutally in my head," he thought the last sentence.
"I…kinda want to see this now," Cassidy admitted.
"Me too…" Susie muttered.
"Fuck it," Jeremy threw up his hands. "Let's not kid us ourselves, guys. We all want to see him suffer." Even though the ghosts might have abandoned their vengeful ways and rediscovered their morals, their hatred of William Afton was as intense as ever, if not more so after the monster's attack on their family.
Nightmare grinned, his eyes flashing. "THEN LET US BEGIN." He held out his hand, and dark energy began to swirl into his palm. The ghosts flinched and backed away slightly, but Nightmare didn't make any move to attack or even threaten. Instead, the shadows coalesced into what looked like a black laptop of some kind, complete with a skull on the back of the screen.
"You guys use laptops?" Fritz asked, bemused.
"THERE ARE MANY DEMONS WHO CLING TO THE TOOLS OF CENTURIES PAST," Nightmare sneered. "THEY ARE IMBECILES."
"Fair enough, I guess…" Gabe conceded as Nightmare began typing rapidly on his laptop with his claws. Once the demon lord was apparently satisfied with his work, he raised a claw into the air and a small portal of dark flames swirled open into existence. Charlie immediately recognized it as the same type of magic that Nightmare had used to see into her father's mental world and witness the vicious battle between him and William Afton, though this time she couldn't actually see anything in the portal.
"REPORT!" Nightmare demanded.
"WE ARE READY, MY LORD," a harsh, guttural female voice echoed from within. "THE MONGREL HAS BEEN DELIVERED TO HIS NEW PRISON."
"EXCELLENT!" the demonic black bear declared. But before he could cut off the question, Infernal Chica interrupted him. "MY LORD?" she asked, sounding a bit sheepish. "AM I SUPPOSED TO APPEAR WHEN THE TEMPERATURE REACHES 90 DEGREES OR 100 DEGREES?"
"WHAT, ARE YOU GOING TO GIVE HIM THE MORE MERCIFUL OPTION? 90 DEGREES, YOU FOOL!" Nightmare retorted contemptuously as he slashed through the portals with his claws and destroyed the portal. "BAH…" he shook his head in disappointment. "IF YOU HATE SOMEONE SO MUCH THAT YOU'RE GOING TO TORTURE THEM IN A SPECIAL AND UNIQUE MANNER, WHY WOULD YOU BOTHER EVEN CONSIDERING A MORE MERCIFUL OPTION WHEN THAT NEGATES THE WHOLE POINT TO BEGIN WITH?" he ranted.
"I…can't find a reason to disagree with your point," Charlie admitted, before tilting her head in curiosity. "Also, what did you mean by temperature and 90 degrees?"
"AH, YES…I SUPPOSE NOW WOULD BE THE TIME TO EXPLAIN," Nightmare mused, as he swung his laptop around. The ghosts instinctively shuddered, wondering what dreadful scene they were about to witness, but to their confusion there was no horrific vision of Hell or even anything particularly out of the ordinary. Instead, Nightmare showed them what appeared to be a program of some kind. There was a grid of small black rectangles with strangely familiar figures covered in shadows, all in front of a green backdrop. All of the rectangles had the number 0 on the bottom right hand corner.
"Wait a minute…" Fritz looked at the shadowed figures more carefully, and his eyes widened in shock. "I recognize them!" he exclaimed. "It's…the animatronics! The old Freddy Fazbear animatronics!"
Susie was just as shocked. "You're right!" she gasped. "I can see…are those TWO Chicas?" she asked. "The regular one in 1993, and the broken one back when I had my arms missing and my beak hanging out," she shuddered. "That was NOT a good time…"
"I can see two Bonnies, too!" Jeremy stared at the screen. "What is going on?"
"It isn't just from Freddy Fazbear's pizzeria, either," Liz pointed out with a shudder. "I can see both forms of Baby, Ballora, Funtime Freddy, Funtime Foxy, both forms of Springtrap, some strange burned out ghostly animatronics that I THINK are the Phantoms that Mikey mentioned, and…oh, God, what the hell are those?" she stared at the line of menacing, bestial animatronics with razor sharp fangs, claws, and eyes burning with malice.
"HELL IS QUITE THE APT WORD FOR THIS SITUATION, CONSIDERING WHO AND WHAT THEY ARE," Nightmare chuckled. "THEY ARE MY KIN, THE NIGHTMARES, THE TORMENTORS OF YOUR BROTHER IN DECADES PAST, AND THE TORMENTORS OF YOUR FATHER FOR ALL TIME TO COME."
"Oh my God…" Charlie breathed, finally understanding the implications of the grid of animatronics. "You're forcing William Afton into a situation just like the night guards…and you're forcing him to face every single animatronic that ever existed!"
"AT OUR MOST RUTHLESS AND UNFORGIVING, ABSOLUTELY," Nightmare acknowledged. "EVERY ANIMATRONIC EVER SPAWNED BY THE FREDDY FAZBEAR FRANCHISE, AND ALL THE DARKNESS AND DESPAIR THAT IT HAS SPAWNED. FROM THE ANIMATRONICS YOU ONCE POSSESSED, BOTH DECREPIT AND WHOLE, TO THE MONSTERS THAT CRAWLED IN THE VENTS OF HENRY'S TRAP IN THE MOMENTS LEADING UP TO THEIR DESTRUCTION. ALL HAVE BEEN RECREATED FOR THIS NEW PURPOSE, ALL CAN BE SUMMONED AGAINST THEIR WICKED CREATOR."
The ghosts stared in awe as they listened to Nightmare's description. "I know I really shouldn't be saying this since we're supposed to be past this," Gabe admitted. "But that actually sounds really cool and I want to see this."
"What are those numbers on the bottom right?" Cassidy pointed them out. "Are those AI levels?"
"PERCEPTIVE, AREN'T YOU? YES, THOSE ARE INDEED AI VALUES. AND JUST LIKE THE ANIMATRONICS OF OLD, THEY GO FROM 0 TO 20, WITH 0 REPRESENTING INACTIVITY AND 20 FULL POWER," Nightmare elaborated. "AS YOU WERE HIS FIRST VICTIMS, AND THE ONES WHO SUFFERED THE LONGEST, I WILL ALLOW YOU TO CHOOSE THE FIRST ATTACK." He offered the laptop to Charlie. "WHO WILL YOU CHOOSE TO ATTACK, AND HOW VICIOUSLY WILL THEY STRIKE? THAT IS UP TO YOU."
The ghosts looked over at Mike, who shrugged. "Just because I don't want you to get too caught up in your revenge, I suggest you don't just crank up everything to 20 and smash him with everything at once," he advised.
"Thanks for the advice, dad," Susie replied with a smile as she and the ghosts began reading through the descriptions of the animatronics and discussing which they wanted to send after William. Although they all agreed that whatever animatronics they DID activate would all be at level 20, there was some debate over which ones to choose.
As they discussed and argued, Liz looked over at Nightmare. "So how exactly is all of this set up?" she wondered.
"WE HAVE CREATED A COMPLEX PRISON FOR WILLIAM AFTON VERY SIMILAR IN NATURE TO THE FREDDY FAZBEAR PIZZERIAS OF OLD, THOUGH THE LAYOUT AND DESIGN ARE OF OUR CREATION," Nightmare explained. "THE ENTIRE PRISON IS ACTUALLY WITHIN A SPECIAL ARENA, IN WHICH THE DEMONS OF HELL CAN ENTERTAIN THEMSELVES WITH THE SPECTACLE OF WATCHING A PARTICULARLY HATED DAMNED SHADE SUFFER." The demon lord's mouth stretched into a grin. "FOR THIS PARTICULAR TORMENT, ANY SPECTATING DEMONS CAN MAKE WAGERS BASED ON WHETHER OR NOT WILLIAM AFTON CAN SURVIVE FOR SIX HOURS ON A GIVEN NIGHT, AND HOW LONG HE CAN LAST SHOULD HE FAIL."
The kids stopped discussing. "Wait, six hours?" Jeremy interrupted. "I don't want to see this for six hours."
"TIME HAS BEEN ALTERED WITHIN THE PRISON," Nightmare clarified. "IT WILL APPEAR AS ONLY FOUR AND A HALF MINUTES OUTSIDE THE PRISON, BUT THE FULL SIX HOURS WITHIN."
"Thank God for that," Fritz muttered as they went back to their discussions. After several more moments, the ghosts finally came to a consensus, and Gabe handed the tablet back to Nightmare. The demonic black bear looked down to see that the ghosts had picked Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Withered Freddy, Withered Bonnie, Withered Chica, Withered Foxy, Golden Freddy, The Puppet, Springtrap, Circus Baby, and Scrap Baby, all of whom had been set to 20.
"SO," Nightmare mused, "YOU HAVE CHOSEN THE ANIMATRONICS THAT REPRESENT YOUR PAST SELVES. AN INTERESTING VARIETY…AND DESPITE THE RELATIVELY LOW QUANTITY THAT YOU HAVE CHOSEN, MAY BE SURPRISINGLY DIFFICULT FOR WILLIAM TO DEAL WITH. WE SHALL SEE…"
He flipped the laptop back around, allowing for Mike and the children to witness the spectacle about to begin. Once again, instead of a hideous dungeon or torture chamber, the scene that Nightmare showed them reminded them very much of the original Freddy Fazbear's office, only decorated with far more Freddy's merchandise and trinkets. Some aspects of the office were very familiar, such as desk in the center of the room, and the two doors leading to the West and East. But there were also elements that were decidedly new to them as well, especially the two ducts leading from the ceiling and the large ventilation shafts high up on the far wall and in the corner of the East Wall.
And sitting at the desk was the damned murderer that all of them knew so well and so thoroughly despised.
Though William Afton was in better shape than he had been after Mike's demonic aspect had thoroughly torn him to pieces, it was clear that he had suffered horribly. His corporeal spirit had numerous horrible wounds and scars torn into his body, mementos of uncountable tortures, and his form was riddled with exhaustion and weariness. And yet he still wore his cruel sneer on his face, and his eyes burned with the same rage and malevolence that had defined him in life.
Nightmare grinned. "LET US BEGIN."
Meanwhile in Hell…
William gritted his teeth in fury as he glared at the room around him. After the Nightmares had finished their daily tortures for the morning, they had dragged him out of their dungeons and into a massive coliseum, one in a part of Hell that he was unfamiliar with. As he had crossed the threshold into the arena, he had seen hundreds if not thousands of demons line the seats, all laughing and jeering at him as they mocked him and his failures.
"How dare these mongrels insult me like this!" he thought furiously. "I alone discovered the secrets to tether the soul to the world of the living! I have travelled farther along the path to immortality further than anyone before me! They would fear what I am capable of, had I carried out my experiments for just a little while longer…"
A sharp fist to the back of his head painfully forced him out of his mental rant, and he looked up to see Nightmare Freddy sneering at him. "WE'RE HERE," he growled. "YOU'VE CAUSED HELL NO SMALL AMOUNT OF TROUBLE WITH YOUR SHENANIGANS. SO YOU WILL BE GIVEN THE…GRACIOUS OPPORTUNITY…TO REPAY THAT DEBT."
Before William could say anything, shadows suddenly began to swirl around them. The murderer stared in confusion as the darkness solidified into what could only be described as an overly cluttered, complicated Freddy Fazbear's office. Once the creation had been complete, Nightmare Freddy shoved William into the chair at the desk, on which lay an empty Freddy Fazbear mask, a laptop, and a flashlight.
"YOU WERE ONCE THE HUNTER," Nightmare Freddy declared, laughing as he vanished away in a column of flame, leaving William alone in the office. "NOW, YOU ARE THE PREY!"
William sat silently, narrowing his eyes as he looked around the office. Instinctively, he tried to pull himself out of the chair, but he found himself unable to move, as though he had been glued to it.
"Where are you?" he growled as he picked up the laptop and started scrolling through the different rooms that had been formed. He immediately noted the temperature, the ventilation reset, the power percentage level, and the numerous options available to him, but as he started scanning through the rooms he started to hear pots and pans banging in a room to the right.
Whatever game the Nightmares were playing, it had clearly begun.
Knowing that he had very little time to get as much information as he could, William quickly scanned through the rooms, deciding to pick up the strange F coins that he found on the camera as he did so just to be safe. He grimaced as he realized that Foxy was now in Pirate's Cove, grinning up at the camera. "Not you, you little shit…" he snarled as he continued his scan. His mood soured even further upon realizing that the Marionette's Music Box had also activated and was starting to wind down, and he quickly pushed the button on the camera to wind it back up. Just as he finished, the room began to flicker and buzz around him, and he put the laptop down just in time to see the decrepit, broken-down, and faceless form of Bonnie glaring down at him with his red eyes. Instinctively, he slammed the spare Freddy mask on his face, and breathed a sigh of relief as Withered Bonnie vanished from sight.
"Is this the best you can do?" William asked mockingly at the empty space where Withered Bonnie had been. During the animatronic's attack, William noticed that a second one had entered the room, this one being the decrepit and broken version of Freddy. The withered animatronic twitched and growled angrily, as if it were seconds away from striking. William flashed his light and threw the Freddy mask on his head, but neither move seemed to even slightly placate Withered Freddy. Now feeling genuine panic, William began to randomly press on all the controls on his desk, and just as it seemed Withered Freddy was about to strike, he pressed the button that activated the Silent Ventilation.
Immediately, Withered Freddy stopped his frenetic movements, the glare in his eyes dulling and fading entirely before the animatronic turned around and left the room. William breathed a sigh of relief and opened up the tablet again, noticing this time that the more intact version of Freddy had appeared in the West corridor and was slowly advancing down the hallway. The murderer sneered at the animatronic bear, thinking that it would be easy to fend off the animatronic once he got closer…but his sneer vanished once he remembered the Marionette's music box. Acting quickly, William switched the camera over to the kitchen, barely managing to push the wind button just before the bar emptied out completely. At the same time, he pressed the Reset Ventilation button, remembering the faulty systems of Fazbear's Fright and assuming that he shouldn't expect anything better from the Nightmares.
This time, when he put the tablet back down, there were three new additions to his office. The first was Scrap Baby, the twisted monster that he had manipulated his daughter into becoming, slouched down on the other side of the table. The second was the broken-down and withered form of Foxy, his mouth opened into a snarl as he raised his hook to lunge at William.
And the third was Golden Freddy, his black empty eyes staring soullessly into William's. With a curse, William flung the mask onto his face, watching warily as the animatronic vanished. However, Withered Foxy still posed a dangerous threat, and William had to flash his flashlight into the animatronic's eyes repeatedly to neutralize him for the time being. But as Withered Foxy left the room, a figure began to emerge from the high vent on the opposite wall. William could see the face of Springtrap, his own face, glaring predatorily at him like a wild animal. The murderer activated a switch and a metal door slammed down in front of the vent. William grinned as he heard his doppleganger bang on the blocked entrance and depart, but his smirk faded as he noticed something else…
The pots and pans that had been banging from the kitchen to the right…had fallen silent.
"What now?" William groaned as he opened up the tablet. He checked the kitchen, which still yielded only a black screen, and winded up the Puppet's music box. After he had wound it up a decent amount, he checked the East and West hallways, and swore when he realized that Freddy was just outside of his office door. He quickly slammed the left door down, watching with satisfaction as the animatronic banged angrily on the door once before leaving, reset the ventilation, and put down the laptop…
…only to stare right into the face of Chica, her purple eyes glaring hatefully down at William with a large pot in her right hand.
"What the…?" The murderer shouted, but it was too little, too late. Chica screamed, a bonechilling wail that was all too familiar to the ghosts and Mike, but now the animatronic would be attacking the one who truly deserved his fate. The chicken lifted her pot and swung it down on William's head. The damned soul screamed in pain as Chica smashed her pot against his head again and his head as he tried to lift his arms to shield himself, a futile gesture against the might of an animatronic.
Back on Earth…
"Holy crap!" Gabe stared at the brutal hammering that Chica unleashed upon William. "This is nuts!"
Fritz snickered. "This is so satisfying to watch, you have no idea."
Cassidy looked over at Susie and grinned. "Damn, Susie, that is badass!"
Susie giggled. "Man, I should have smacked William Afton with a heavy pan before we trapped him in Springtrap the first time," she admitted.
A strangled yell interrupted their conversation, bringing their attention back to the laptop. Chica had tossed aside her pot entirely, and with another scream she grabbed William's head and smashed it onto the desk, before finally departing from the office, leaving William to wallow in his agony and drown in his own blood. Fiendish howls and demonic laughter began to echo around the office, muted until the moment of the murderer's defeat.
The grisly scene faded, leaving only a black screen that listed the time that William Afton had lasted. A female voice suddenly echoed from the laptop, causing Susie to jolt in shock as she realized that it was Chica's voice, recreated perfectly from the original animatronic. "My two favorite ways to pass the time!" Chica declared cheerfully, before her voice lowered to a menacing hiss. "Making pizza and killing you!"
"Oh my God…" the former Chica inhabitant breathed. "You really DID recreate everything from scratch."
"He didn't last very long, did he?" Liz pointed out. "He didn't even make it past the first hour."
"TO BE FAIR, WE DID NOT GIVE WILLIAM ANY SORT OF KNOWLEDGE WHATSOEVER," Nightmare admitted. "NO INFORMATION ON HOW THE ANIMATRONICS FUNCTIONED, NOT EVEN ANY INFORMATION ON HOW THE ROOM IS STRUCTURED OR HOW HE CAN DEFEND HIMSELF." The demon lord frowned. "AS ENTERTAINING AS IT WOULD BE TO WATCH WILLIAM FLOUNDER ABOUT AND DIE BEFORE THE FIRST HOUR OVER AND OVER AGAIN, I SUPPOSE IT WOULD MAKE FOR A MORE INTERESTING SHOW IF HE ACTUALLY HAD A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO DEFEND HIMSELF."
He opened up another portal, and this time another male voice echoed from the depths…a familiar voice. "YEAH, NIGHTMARE?" Nightmarionne called out. "WHAT DO YOU WANT?"
"WHEN WILLIAM AFTON RESURRECTS THIS TIME," Nightmare ordered. "ALLOW HIM THE FUNDAMENTAL KNOWLEDGE OF HOW THE OFFICE WORKS."
"WAIT, WHAT?" Nightmarionne asked incredulously.
"AN ACTUAL STRUGGLE WOULD BE MORE ENTERTAINING TO WATCH, AND MUCH MORE SATISFYING WHEN WILLIAM AFTON ULTIMATELY FAILS," Nightmare explained, before he grinned. "ONLY THE FUNDAMENTALS, NIGHTMARIONNE. NO NEED TO GIVE HIM ANY MORE INFORMATION THAN THAT."
"WHATEVER YOU SAY," the kids could hear the noncommittal shrug in the demonic puppet's voice as he cut the connection.
"NOW, THEN…" Nightmare tapped his chin with his claw as he began adjusting some of the numbers on his torture program. "I THINK THIS TIME I WILL CHOOSE THE SETTINGS FOR THIS NEXT ATTACK. AND I BELIEVE I WILL SETTLE FOR…THIS!"
He turned the laptop around, and this time there was a very different set of animatronics lighted up and set to 20. The ghost kids moved the mouse over to see the names of the animatronics chosen, discovering that Nightmare Freddy, Nightmare Bonnie, Nightmare Chica, Nightmare Foxy, Infernal Bonnie, Infernal Chica, Nightmare Fredbear, Nightmare, Nightmarionne, Nightmare Balloon Boy, Molten Freddy, and Scrap Baby had all been chosen.
"Why do some of you have two forms?" Jeremy asked, noticing the doubles of Nightmare Bonnie and Chica.
"MANY OF US HAVE TWO MAIN FORMS THAT WE USE," Nightmare clarified. "ONE OF WHICH IS WREATHED IN FLAMES, AND ONE THAT IS NOT. INFERNAL BONNIE AND CHICA WERE PARTICULARLY EAGER TO GET THEIR CLAWS ON WILLIAM, SO I ALLOWED THEM TWO FORMS TO USE IN THIS SPECIAL TORMENT. INFERNAL FREDDY AND INFERNAL FOXY WOULD RATHER TEND TO OTHER MATTERS."
Gabe looked at the pictures of the Nightmares again. "Wait…how are you in this list when you're right here?" he wondered.
"WE CAN CREATE SIMALUCRA, MANIFESTATIONS OF OURSELVES TO TORTURE WILLIAM IN OUR STEAD," the demon lord answered.A flicker of irritation flashed in his eyes. "ARE YOU BRATS DONE WITH YOUR QUESTIONS YET?"
The ghosts remained silent, to Nightmare's satisfaction. "THEN LET US BEGIN. WE WILL GIVE WILLIAM A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO DEFEND HIMSELF, BUT THAT IS ALL."
Back in Hell…
William let out a gasp of shock as he found himself jolted back into life, back in the office of the franchise he had grown to despise. All of his wounds had not only been healed, but completely vanished as if they had never existed, though he could still feel the excruciating agony that Chica had caused in her attack. As William looked down at the controls and his defenses, his mind suddenly clicked and realized that he did know how they functioned and how he could use them to protect himself. Thinking furiously, William thought back onto the actions of the animatronics that had attacked him the last time. While he didn't fully understand their attack patterns, he could draw on past experiences to defend against them more easily this time around.
"Come and get me, you pieces of scrap!" Afton snarled as he glared at the room, ready for the next attacks. As if to answer his challenge, the sound of heavy footsteps suddenly began to echo outside the office, running back and forth between the West and East Halls. William's eyes widened in shock. "WHAT?" he exclaimed. "This didn't happen before!"
The footsteps stopped outside the West Hall, and instinctively William slammed the door down before whatever was outside could get in. There was a snarl from outside and a heavy bang on the door, before the footsteps continued moving back and forth between the two halls. William sighed in relief, failing to notice the menacing figure that had started to appear inside the Office. The murderer only just managed to catch Nightmare manifesting inches away from him, only a second or two away from fully forming. William let out a gasp of panic as he caught sight of Nightmare, but as he stared at the demonic bear animatronic, Nightmare started to fade away, and William made sure to keep his attention on him until he had disappeared entirely.
"They've changed the game on me!" William thought furiously as he heard mocking, insane laughter echo from up above him. He slammed the vent down and felt a small degree of satisfaction as he heard another bang to signal Molten Freddy's failure. Once he heard the animatronic leave, he opened up the vent and flipped up the laptop to reset the ventilation. Once he did so and flipped the laptop back down, William let out a frustrated snarl as he realized that several more animatronics had entered the Office while he had been busy.
The tiny demonic Freddy-like brats that he and Vucarik had once tried to drain had emerged, scattered throughout the office as they let out tiny shrieks of rage. Scrap Baby and the Nightmare version of the irritating Balloon Boy animatronic had also both appeared in the office, both of them slumped forward and motionless. But he paid neither of them any attention, for he had a much more serious threat to deal with.
A set of massive, heavy jaws had begun to close around his head, obscuring his vision as the two sides of the unholy mouth grew closer with every second. "Gah!" William shouted in shock as he fumbled around with the controls, trying to think of anything he could to ward off his impending doom. Just as the jaws closed fully around his head, William hit the button that activated the Power A/C, and the jaws opened up again, the two sets of fangs separating from each other until they had disappeared from his sight completely. William slumped forward in relief, though his momentary reprieve proved to be very short-lived as he heard the footsteps from before stop again, this time on the right side. William slammed the door down to ward off the unknown predator, and took this time to quickly open up the laptop and reset the ventilation.
The shrieks from the Freddles had grown louder, and another one had appeared in the meantime. Not only that, but this time both Scrap Baby AND Nightmare Balloon Boy had become active, the former looking up at him with a twisted grin on her ghoulish face, and the latter sitting up and looking at him hungrily as though he were seconds away from leaping at him and devouring him whole. Gritting his teeth, William hit the electric switch that Scrap Baby was connected to, causing her to slump back downward, and taking a gamble, he flashed his light on Nightmare Balloon Boy.
The tactic worked even better than he had hoped, for not only did Nightmare Balloon Boy slump back down onto the floor, deactivated and harmless, but one of the Freddles vanished, leaving only two that were shrieking less loudly than before. "This isn't so hard," William sneered as he flashed his light to drive away the rest of the Freddles while blocking off the animatronics stalking the vents and corridors.
Naturally, that was where William's good fortune for his conflict began to run dry. Another Nightmare began to manifest in the office, this one being the demonic version of the Puppet that had once housed the soul of Henry's brat. William tried to use the same tactic that he had done with Nightmare, but to his dismay and horror Nightmarionne only seemed to be manifesting even faster. Realizing his mistake, William forced himself to avert his eyes away from Nightmarionne, and to his relief the demonic animatronic faded away as Nightmare had done.
But as it turned out, that was just the beginning of William's problems. As the clock struck 1, a strange, pink, and feminine version of Balloon Boy with a propeller on her cap appeared in front of William. "Uh-Oh! How unfortunate!" she sang with a high-pitched voice that made William want to strangle her. "Uh-Oh! How unfortunate! I know how much you like to fight, so I'll add a new problem to your night!"
William's jaw dropped in disbelief as the phrase "A new challenger has arrived!" flashed in front of him. "Another one?" he shouted in frustrated rage. "Who could it possibly be? How many will you send after me?"
His mood was further soured by the reappearance of Nightmare (who he glared at until he disappeared) and a second animatronic, this one a hellish version of Bonnie whose body burned with orange flames. William expected the office to immediately heat up upon Infernal Bonnie's arrival, but in fact quite the opposite happened. The temperature began to drop down, falling to its baseline of 60 degrees and then slipping below it. As the temperature fell to 55 degrees, Infernal Bonnie began to twitch and growl angrily, and William realized the threat that the animatronic posed. Immediately, he activated the heater, and the heat slowly began to rise back up as Infernal Bonnie calmed itself and stopped twitching.
"Wait a minute…" William thought. "What was that new challenger? I have to find it quickly or I'm doomed!" He flipped up the laptop and shuddered as he saw Nightmare Bonnie standing in the East Hallway, looking up at the camera with a contemptuous glare and his mouth stretched into a snarl. Without any knowledge on how to defend against Nightmare Bonnie, William had little choice but to close the East door and try to look around the rest of the pizzeria-like prison.
And that would prove to be a fatal mistake. The moment he changed the camera, Nightmare Bonnie charged into the room, smashing the door down with a powerful metal fist. The demon roared as he rushed at William, knocking the tablet out of his hands and grabbing him by the chest, taking extra care to sink his claws deep into his soul. Nightmare Bonnie lifted William up from the seat, causing the spectating ghost kids to wonder if he was about to give him the same treatment that Fredbear had once given his youngest son.
But Nightmare Bonnie had something completely different, though no less horrific, in mind. Laughing cruelly, the demonic animatronic plunged his claws deep into William's eyes, utterly gouging them out and destroying them as blood spewed out from his now empty sockets. Even with how well-adjusted they were to horror and their hatred towards William, the ghost kids couldn't help but scream in terror as Nightmare Bonnie slowly peeled off the murderer's face, exposing the mutilated, unrecognizable insides of his head. As William let out one strangled gasp, unable to even think clearly from the pain, Nightmare Bonnie threw him to the floor and stomped on his head with his foot, exploding William's skull in a shower of bone and gore. The howls and echoes of demonic laughter that had reverberated throughout the office the last time William had been slaughtered returned, even louder than they had been before, a raucous chorus of inhuman jeers and taunts that showed no mercy or compassion whatsoever.
Nightmare Bonnie laughed one last time as the screen faded to black, and his unholy voice echoed from the dark screen. "THERE'S NOWHERE TO RUN FROM A BAD DREAM," he cackled. "ESPECIALLY ONE THAT YOU CAN'T WAKE UP FROM! HA HA HA HA HA!" Nightmare joined in his sibling and subordinate's laughter, but he was the only one.
"Damn…" Fritz shook his head in disbelief. "That is seriously messed up."
"And the Nightmares are some of the LESS evil demons?" Susie mumbled. "I REALLY don't want to see the eviler demons then."
Mike gave a worried glance to his children, who despite their different reactions were decidedly NOT enjoying the bloodbath like the demons were. Some of the children who were more vindictive and wrathful towards William, such as Fritz and Cassidy, had looks on their faces that conflicted between horror and satisfaction at the gruesome spectacle, while others were utterly revolted by the bloody slaughter. Liz in particularly shuddered at the sight, knowing full well that her brother had suffered Nightmare Bonnie's malice at one point.
But Charlie's reaction was the worst. The ghostly teen was covering her mouth with her one hand and her stomach with her other, giving the impression that she was trying hard not to vomit. She looked positively nauseated and almost green despite the fact that she was a ghost incapable of such functions, and the teenager was visibly trembling with fear. It wasn't just the brutality of Nightmare Bonnie's attack, the vicious sadism that reached far beyond anything the ghost kids had ever been capable of at their worst.
It was the horrifying familiarity of Nightmare Bonnie's attack, and the disturbing possibility of who the demon had learned such cruelty from.
"Are…are you all right, Charlie?" Gabe asked, having noticed his sister's sickened expression.
Charlie swallowed, trying to master her emotions. "I…I'll be okay…" she mumbled. Mike looked at her guiltily but said nothing, understanding that another person would be better suited to calm her nerves in this specific situation.
"SUCH IS THE FATE OF MONGRELS AND FOOLS WHO DARE TO INCUR THE WRATH OF HELL," Nightmare growled, clearly dismissive of Charlie's discomfort but not saying anything to intensify it either. "BY ESCAPING FROM HELL AND ATTEMPTING TO WREAK HAVOC UPON SCHMIDT'S HOUSEHOLD, WILLIAM AFTON MADE HIMSELF AN ENEMY OF HEAVEN AND HELL ALIKE. WE WILL BREAK HIM AGAIN AND AGAIN WITH THE MANIFESTATIONS OF HIS SINS, A THOUSAND DEATHS, A THOUSAND TORMENTS, UNTIL THERE IS NOTHING LEFT OF HIM BUT A SHRIEKING SHADE SCREAMING HIS AGONY INTO AN UNCARING ETERNITY."
"He's paying the price for attacking our dad, then," Jeremy answered grimly. He had almost been moved to pity William Afton after Nightmare Bonnie's last kill, but then he remembered how Nightmare Springtrap had invaded the sanctity of their home, tried to tear apart their family yet again, and the memories of that terrifying night destroyed whatever sympathy he might have found. "I might not enjoy seeing this as much as I thought, but it doesn't change the fact that the bastard deserves everything that happens to him."
"I killed my brother because of him!" Liz added furiously, remembering how William had manipulated Michael into his death at Circus Baby's. "Let's see how he likes being trapped for a change!"
"As long as he's trapped down there and not anywhere around here," Gabe muttered, "then that's good enough for me. And if he's getting his ass kicked even harder than usual, then I sure as hell am not gonna complain!"
"I kinda want to know how the rest of the animatronics attack," Charlie sighed. As much as it galled her to admit it, she was genuinely curious about the logistics and strategies behind the animatronics, and despite her maturity she hadn't dropped her grudge against William entirely. "I just hope the other animatronics aren't as excessively violent as the Nightmares."
"PERHAPS," Nightmare replied noncommittally, "AND PERHAPS NOT. YOU HAVE ALREADY SEEN ONE ATTACK FOR YOURSELF BEFORE NIGHTMARE BONNIE UNLEASHED HIS RAGE. THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT WAYS FOR THE ANIMATRONICS TO CLAIM VENGEANCE AGAINST THEIR CREATOR AND CORRUPTOR, SOME MORE VICIOUS AND VENGEFUL THAN OTHERS. BUT I WILL BE THE FIRST TO ADMIT THAT THE REST OF THEM DO NOT POSSESS THE SAME INNATE MALICE THAT WE DO."
The demon lord offered the laptop back to the ghostly children, who took it hesitatingly. "WHAT FACET OF WILLIAM AFTON'S BLACKENED PAST WILL YOU UNLEASH UPON HIM NEXT?" Nightmare asked, an amused grin on his face. "HOW WILL YOU CLAIM YOUR PAYMENT IN BLOOD FOR HIS CRIMES? WITH SO MANY DIFFERENT OPTIONS…"
His blood red eyes glowed with a delighted, malevolent gleam. "THE POSSIBILITIES ARE TRULY ENDLESS."

A/N: Gee, I wonder who Nightmare Bonnie learned ripping William's face off from, hmm?
If you don't understand already, Ultimate Custom Night in the MNGF universe is a special punishment designed for William Afton by the Nightmares as both a torture and a humiliation, as William must struggle to survive against the animatronics of the franchises that he created and corrupted or suffer a brutal and horrific death, all while the demons of Hell watch for entertainment and mock him constantly for his failures. An insufferably arrogant bastard, now reduced to the one of the biggest jokes in all of Hell. It's no less than what he deserves.
If you were curious, the surprise animatronic that Dee-Dee summoned was Plushtrap, who has the same function as the original UCN Plushtrap. And since William never even realized how Nightmare Bonnie worked, let alone collected enough Faz-Coins to buy his plushie, he was fucked either way.
As you might have already figured out, there are new animatronics in THIS version of UCN that were not in the original game, as well as some animatronics who have had their mechanics improved or reworked. Here are some of the ones I've come up with for this chapter. I assure you that in future UCN chapters, more are soon to come.
Bonnie – Functions similarly to how he does in the original UCN, but much more dangerous. Instead of merely screwing with the cameras, looking at him in Pirate's Cove for too long will enrage him and cause him to attack the office, resulting in a Game Over. (At level 20, looking at Bonnie even once will provoke him into attacking). You will not be able to stop this attack once it happens. He might still be relatively easy to avoid if you don't move your camera to Pirate's Cove, but will now ruthlessly punish you if you do make a mistake.
Withered Freddy – He will occasionally appear in the office (signaled by metal clanging noises similar to the ones in FNAF2), agitated and ready to attack. The only way to soothe him is to press a specific command button (Power Generator, Silent Ventilation, etc.) which will calm Withered Freddy down and cause him to leave. The command that will calm him down is random and will change with each appearance. If you fail to turn the right command on in time, he will attack and end the game.
Withered Foxy – He will occasionally appear in the office (signaled by metal clanging noises similar to the ones in FNAF2), agitated and ready to attack. Flash your flashlight on him repeatedly to deactivate him and cause him to leave. If you are too slow or don't flash him enough times, he will attack and end the game.
Scrap Baby – Same as the original game, except that she will merely deactivate after being shocked (instead of leaving the office permanently), and can attack multiple times throughout the run.
Nightmare Chica – Same as the original game, but she can attack multiple times throughout the game.
Nightmare Foxy – Uhhhh…I don't really have a set idea for this one yet, to be honest. For now, I'm going to say that he serves the same function as Nightmare Mangle in the original game, though this can absolutely be changed in the future.
Nightmare Fredbear – He will race back and forth between the West and East Doors (signaled by the same footsteps sounds that he originally had in FNAF4's Night 5), eager to get his hands on you. When you hear the footsteps stop outside one of the doors, immediately close that door to prevent him from attacking. If you hear him laugh, he has moved to either the top vent or the side vent to attack from there instead (don't ask how he can fit), and you will need to hold the flashlight on to see where his eyes are and block him off appropriately.
Nightmare – He will manifest inside your office while your attention is elsewhere, and if he fully materializes, you're in for a very brutal and painful death! Focus your attention on him to make him fade away, but beware! Nightmare doesn't play fair, and he CAN materialize in the office while you're distracted with the laptop. He alternates with Nightmarionne, and which one appears at any given time will be completely random. (Basically he's reverse Nightmarionne.)
Infernal Bonnie – He will occasionally appear inside the office, devouring the heat inside and causing the temperature to cool. While this may at first seem like a blessing, he will get enraged if the temperature drops too low (50 degrees) and attack, causing a Game Over. Turn the heater on to counteract this forced cooling, and he will eventually be satisfied and leave. Animatronics that are normally repelled by heat (Rockstar Freddy, most of the Mediocre Melodies) will NOT be affected by the Heater while Infernal Bonnie is in the Office. (Think of him as a reverse Infernal Chica but more complicated.)
It was much more difficult than I expected to write this chapter, but I hope you guys enjoyed the first UCN night! I'd like to send by saying that there is a ZERO percent chance that another chapter will come out next week, as I have TWO major med school exams that I need to deal with simultaneously.
