Chapter 1 - You look Happier

Bakugo leaned against the wall next to the snack table at the entrance. It was their school formal happening mid year oddly enough, because of spring or some bullshit. The Old Hag had made sure he wore a suit properly - red dress shirt, black tie and vest even - despite being told he wouldn't be dancing.

Shitty hair was huddled with Racoon face and Dunce face on the packed dance floor. He didn't appreciate the hype of it all. He only went to this high school because it had the best chance of getting him admitted to the firefighting academy. Shitty hair was also doing this course while people like Round face and Four eyes were going to the police academy. Typical extras.

When glancing around the room, despite the dance floor being packed there were a number of people missing, likely yet to arrive.

"Yo Bakubro, why don't you come dance with everyone?" Shitty hair escaped the crowd for a break at the table. Shitty hair was the most sociable person in their year and always made friends easily. Where as Bakugo had spent his time keeping friends to a minimum, especially after middle school.

He grunted and replied, "Nah, get lost loser and have fun." He knew Shitty hair would have a better time without him there.

Shitty hair hesitated for a moment with a look of concern before returning to the dancefloor.

The moment Racoon face looked at Shitty hair returning, her grin was so wide it almost broke her face. That was the norm for those two sappy extras because they were soulmates. Bakugo took his hand out of his pocket and peered down at the nothing that was there. Of course there was nothing there, why would he have a soulmate after what he did to a friend. No, the only thing he got was an occasional inconsistent tingling in his arm.

"Ochaku!" Someone near the entrance shouted.

Bakugo only looked up out of curiosity, to find his body frozen in shock. There was Round face with a boy who had broccoli-like hair. It's him, was all his brain could think, it's him. The one that he knew all too well. The one who he had chased away and hurt more times than he could count. His childhood friend and victim of his bullying.

He was taller now, but there was no mistaking those big green eyes. On second glace he had become very fit and muscular by comparison. However, he must have been staring because his gaze collided with those emerald eyes.
