A/N: Before we begin, I want to make it clear that Mike is NOT assuming direct control over the Pizzaplex by any means. One of the reviewers on the last chapter got the impression that Security Breach wouldn't be possible because they assumed Mike would seize control and fix everything. Let me assure you, readers, that Mike will absolutely NOT seize control and fix everything, not even close. The only thing he's getting involved in right now is fixing a blatant and egregious design flaw in the building, and he's putting serious pressure on Fazbear Entertainment to get it fixed. That's it. That's the ONLY major flaw that Mike is going to be directly fixing, because it's the only one that he knows about. Making sure the fire exits are safe and easily accessible is a huge problem to fix, but it doesn't do anything to solve the other problems that the Pizzaplex will have.

This is going to be a shorter chapter. I've been dealing with a lot of stuff in my real life lately, the biggest problem being a 7 hour exam I had on Tuesday that's still left me mentally drained and out of energy.

Chapter 191 – Blueprint Corrections

It was ironic, Mr. Averus couldn't help but note dryly, that the very guy who was putting him in danger of getting fired from his job was also the biggest reason why he was still in charge as a Fazbear Executive.

After Mike Schmidt had made his ultimatum, Averus had no choice but to call an emergency meeting of the rest of the board and explain to them that Mike Schmidt had somehow found gotten his hands on the Pizzaplex blueprints and demanded that they either fix the design of the building or risk getting their reputation ruined as the egregious safety flaw was exposed to the public. Unsurprisingly, the board had not been pleased with the discovery that their blueprints had been leaked.

"How the hell did THAT happen?" One executive demanded angrily. "We trusted you to keep those blueprints a complete secret!"

"I bet he forgot to take Culpo's name off the contacts list and sent him to by accident," another executive snorted derisively.

"I…can't exclude that possibility," Averus reluctantly answered, not outright denying the possibility but not openly admitted it either. "I'm investigating the cause of the leak as we speak."

"And why shouldn't we just fire you for your mistake?" the first executive asked sarcastically, clearly not convinced that Averus wasn't responsible.

"Because my contact with Mike Schmidt is the only reason he hasn't released those blueprints to the public and brought the reputation of this company crashing down once and for all," Averus fired back, some of his confidence returning as he used the man's name as a shield. The best part was that he wasn't even wrong for saying what he was about to say. "If you fire or even demote me, he'll interpret your actions as you refusing to go along with his demands. And then you can kiss this entire company good-bye!"

The Fazbear Executives grumbled and muttered amongst themselves, but there was sense of hesitancy and caution that wasn't there a few seconds before. It was a different executive who finally broke the silence, one who seemed calmer and (at least superficially) more pleasant. "Perhaps it would be wisest for us to take this Mike Schmidt seriously," he suggested in a more conciliatory tone. "After all, Schmidt has saved this company from multiple catastrophes in the past. He was the one who brought on Mr. Nacht to salvage our VR game and improve it, at almost no real cost to ourselves. And if it weren't for his leadership over the Special Delivery project, who knows what scandal we could find ourselves broiled in if the saboteur had been allowed to get away with his malicious hacking of our animatronics."

The words were reasonable and soft-spoken, but there was a faint edge to his tone that Averus couldn't really decipher. Averus wasn't sure if the executive was taking Schmidt's side because he genuinely supported him…or if it was because he was the ones who Nightmare had paid a little visit to, and he just wanted to avoid the consequences of failing to meet the demon lord's demands.

"You're putting an awful lot of trust in a guy who's openly admitted his contempt for this company in the past!" the second executive muttered with a scowl.

"The fact that he's so open about his disdain for Fazbear Entertainment is precisely why I trust him," the soft-spoken executive retorted. "Schmidt was a night shift employee who was hunted by our original animatronics many years in the past, and I don't believe for a second that he would go through those nights without harboring a grudge. He freely admits that grudge and makes no attempt to hide it, and yet he is willing to work with us in spite of it because he believes in the potential of the Freddy Fazbear franchise more than he desires to see us crumble and burn. If Schmidt claimed to hold no ill will towards us and offered his services out of seemingly infinite generosity and forgiveness, I would be much more suspicious of his motives."

"I'm pretty much in the same boat as you," Mr. Averus agreed, before continuing. "But I have every reason to believe Schmidt when he says that if we don't fix the design of the building to have all the fire exits easily accessible to every member of the public, he's going to leak those blueprints to the public and ruin our reputation. He made that very clear, and I highly doubt that he was just bluffing."

The first executive snorted. "Who's the imbecile who thought that locking all the fire exits behind VIP access and high-security clearance areas was a good idea to begin with? Because I sure as hell didn't endorse this!"

"You didn't oppose it either," Averus thought sarcastically. Outwardly he let out a snort. "Don't look at me. Even if I accidentally leaked the copy of the plans to Schmidt, I wasn't the one who designed them myself!" He conveniently neglected to mention the fact that he'd missed the design flaw in the first place.

"I don't remember who exactly came up with that idea," the soft-spoken executive replied with a dark tone, "but I'm going to find out, and I'm going to personally make sure that they're out of a job by the end of the day."

"Great, you do that. In the meantime, what the hell do we do now?" one of the executives grumbled.

"Remind me again, what were Schmidt's demands?" the soft-spoken executive requested.

"He wanted a new, updated copy of the blueprints created which fixed the building's design flaw within 1 month," Averus explained. "He also wanted a personal tour of the building when it was finished so that he could personally make sure that the building had been constructed properly with every fire exit easily available to the public."

"Did he want to take control over development of the entire Pizzaplex too?" the second executive asked dryly.

Averus shook his head. "He didn't demand anything like that from me."

"Then all things considered, Schmidt's demands are far from irrational," the soft-spoken executive replied calmly. "He's proven more than once that he is willing to listen to reason and work with us whether than against us in the past, and I'll even admit that if it wasn't for his interventions, our previous projects would have been complete and absolute failures. We don't have any practical reason not to give him what he wants. Just redraw the blueprints so that the VIP and high-security clearance areas are separate from the fire exits, and extend to him an invitation to visit the Pizzaplex once we've finished construction. And that's all we need to do."

"And what if he wants more after this?" The first executive demanded, frustration and irritation clear in his voice. "What if he uses this as an excuse to run roughshod over our authority and demand more and more from us?"

The soft-spoken executive shrugged. "Schmidt has saved our company from complete disaster more than once when he had no reason to," he replied coolly, "especially when one of those disasters led to a direct hospitalization. Assuming that he doesn't expand his list of demands, this is far from the most consequential concession we could've made."

Averus grimaced. "And as much as I hate to admit it, Schmidt isn't the kind of guy to play around with words and bullshit when it comes to getting what he wants," he reluctantly defended the man. "Hell, he pretty much seized control of the Special Delivery project the first chance he got. If he wanted more, he would've made that clear when he showed up my office a few days ago. Just like he made it clear that if we don't agree, he'll release those blueprints to the public. I have no doubt he's already making plans to make that happen if we try to retaliate against him in any way."

He didn't mention it of course, but there were far more dangerous consequences to refusing Mike's demands. Mike had only explicitly threatened him with the return of Nightmare if he tried to frame that rate Culpo for his mistake, but Averus wasn't fooled. He knew full well that if he managed to bring about Schmidt's anger…Nightmare's wrath wouldn't be far behind.

"So we're going along with this?" the second executive grumbled, his pride clearly rankled at the idea of submitting to an outsider.

"We do not have a choice," the soft-spoken executive replied, turning to Averus. "Contact Schmidt immediately and let him know that we've agreed to his demands. Let him know that we'll have a new blueprint for him by the end of the month as we've agreed…" his expression darkened, "and fire all of the imbeciles who thought that hiding the fire exits behind VIP access and high-security clearance was a good idea to begin with."

For the first time, Averus allowed himself a vicious smirk. He had kept his status as a Fazbear Entertainment executive, gotten the rest of the board to agree to Schmidt's demands without too much difficulty, and now he had the opportunity to vent his frustrations on some incompetent subordinates.

All in all, he'd gotten the best-case scenario out of a bad situation.

One Month Later…

"Huh," Mike raised an eyebrow as he looked through his email. "Fazbear Entertainment sent me an updated blueprint."

"HUH?" The ghost kids all dropped what they were doing and flew behind Mike, crowding around him to look down at his computer screen. Sure enough, there was a new email from Mr. Averus, with the title of "New Pizzaplex Blueprints" displayed at the top.

"Open it!" Cassidy insisted. Mike needed no further invitation, opening the mail for all of them to see.

"To Mr. Schmidt," the email read, "On behalf of the Fazbear Entertainment executive board, I would like to thank you for bringing this rather grievous flaw in our building's design to our attention. You are right to be concerned about the significant fire hazard that such a design flaw introduces to the Pizzaplex. Let me assure you that in order to prevent a repeat occurrence of such a ghastly mistake, the individuals responsible for such a critical error have been appropriately relieved from their positions."

Every single person in the room rolled their eyes, scoffed, or otherwise made some expression of disdain at the last sentence. "They just fired a bunch of people to cover their own asses, didn't they," Fritz commented dryly.

"All to avoid taking the blame themselves," Jeremy agreed, equally unimpressed.

"I mean, did any of us expect anything different?" Susie asked, contempt dripping from her voice. Nobody bothered to respond, as the answer was so obvious that it didn't need to be said.

They continued reading the email. "We have discussed your requests and agree to your terms, as we find them quite reasonable and fairly straightforward to accommodate. Attached to this email is a new blueprint design for the building that corrects the design flaws that you have pointed out. Although the construction of the Pizzaplex is not yet complete, we will extend to you an invitation for a personal tour of the building once basic amenities and furnishing have been established. We thank you for the services you have provided for Fazbear Entertainment thus far, and look forward to showing you the fruits of our labor once they've been completed. If you have friends with children or children of your own, we strongly encourage you to bring them to enjoy Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex once it is completed in full! Respectfully yours, Mr. Averus."

Gabe stared at the last sentence. "Did they just try to ADVERTISE to you in this email, Dad?" the former Freddy inhabitant asked in disbelief. "Holy crap, these people have no sense of shame at all, do they?"

"It's Fazbear Entertainment," Mike replied as he rolled his eyes. "What the hell did you expect?"

"What makes this really ironic is that we actually WILL be visiting the Pizzaplex, if only to stop Glitchtrap's possession victim from causing more death and chaos," Charlie commented. "It's just that we'll be completely invisible and we're not gonna be paying to go in, so Fazbear Entertainment isn't gonna make a single penny out of us," she added, unable to resist a slight smirk.

"Let's open the blueprint and see what changes they made," Liz suggested. Not wanting to waste any more time, Mike nodded and downloaded the blueprint, setting it to fullscreen once it opened so all of them could have a clear view.

"Wait…that's it?" Susie asked incredulously. "They just removed the walls and doors blocking the fire exits!"

Charlie carefully studied the new series of blueprints and mentally compared them to the old ones. Her memory (although better than most of her siblings') wasn't perfect by any means, but the sight of the blatantly hazardous design had been so enraging that the sight of it had been all been all but burned into her brain. "You're right, Susie," she agreed. "Most of this building looks the same. The only differences I can tell is that the areas that used to be VIP areas and high-security clearance areas are now just open spaces that connect to the rest of the Pizzaplex."

"That's so lazy!" Cassidy criticized, scowling. "They didn't bother redesigning or moving the fire exits at all! They just removed a bunch of walls and doors, and that's literally all they did! I don't even see new VIP or high-security areas at all to replace the old ones, they're just all gone now! They literally did the least work possible to meet Dad's demands, and that's it!"

"So?" the single word from Mike silenced her complaints. "I don't give a shit about where exactly the fire exits are located in the building, or where they place the new high-security clearance or VIP areas. There do seem to be fire exits evenly spread throughout the building and in most of the main areas, so the problem wasn't that there weren't enough of them, just that they were all blocked off to everyone except a subset of specific people. The only thing I cared about was the fact that they made the fire exits easily accessible to the public, and this new blueprint fits the bill. Sure, Fazbear Entertainment did it in a way that's unoriginal, lazy, and required the least amount of effort or change possible, but the new design still meets my conditions. I don't give a shit about how they did it as long as they did it."

"True…" Jeremy acknowledged.

"And as much as I despise the very idea of defending Fazbear Entertainment for anything ever, I do have to play Devil's Advocate a little bit," Mike reluctantly added. "If Fazbear Entertainment's already started construction of the Pizzaplex, depending on how far they've gone in the construction, it might already be too late for them to make any big sweeping changes to the building's design. Taking out a few doors and walls isn't that big of a deal, but reshaping the fundamental structure of the building itself might just not be possible at this stage."

"That's a good point, as much as I hate to admit it," Gabe admitted.

"In a way, I' m actually relieved to see that Fazbear Entertainment went with the lazy and minimal route to fixing the design flaw," Charlie added. "It matches what we know of their character and makes it more likely that they're actually going through with it, since they don't need to spend a lot of time, money, and effort to take away a few walls and doors. If they made huge sweeping changes to the blueprints and seemingly tried to go out of their way to fix things, I'd be very suspicious."

"I'm with you there," Mike agreed. "If I saw that, that'd be shooting off a lot of alarm bells and red flags in mind and make me think they were trying to bullshit and pull a fast one on me. This," he pointed at the blueprint, "makes more sense and matches their character, so it's much more likely to be legit."

"Yeah, after what Charlie and Dad just said, I'm okay with these new blueprints," Susie decided. "It fixes the problem, and it's still a whole lot better than just doing nothing."

"This is probably the best we're going to get out of them," Liz conceded with a sigh. "I'm not expecting anything much better than this, to be honest."

"Are you gonna give these new blueprints the okay, Dad?" Fritz asked.

"Yeah, I'm going to give them the thumbs-up," Mike confirmed. "Trying to demand more out of them will piss them off for no real reason, probably not get accomplish anything, and may motivate the bastards to either try and pull a fast one on me or fight back. These updated blueprints give us what we wanted, and I'm not gonna risk snatching defeat from the jaws of victory when there's nothing worth getting out of it."

He focused his attention back on his computer and began typing back. "Mr. Averus, thank you for your prompt reply. I have reviewed the new blueprints that you have given me, and I can clearly see that the fire exits are no longer locked behind VIP access and high-security clearance areas. While I will need to personally tour the building to confirm that the flaw has been fully corrected, I am otherwise satisfied that the Fazbear Entertainment board has taken my concerns seriously and allowed full and easy access of the fire exits to the public. I have no additional concerns at this time, but I do expect an invitation to the building once its initial construction and furnishing has been completed, as you have promised. Have a good day, Mike Schmidt."

Mike sent the email, leaning back and breathing out a sigh once he did so. "Well, I'm glad that's over for now," he muttered. "That's one less major problem that we have to deal with. I don't doubt for a second that other problems are gonna pop up later, especially with Glitchtrap running around somewhere out there, but we can deal with them as they pop up."

"I'd ask what the chances of Glitchtrap and his possession victim showing up and wreaking havoc are, but knowing our luck, the chances are probably 100%," Gabe sighed. "It's really depressing that we always have to assume the worst-case scenario is going to happen, but it's not like we have a choice when the stakes are so high."

"At least we've taken care of one issue," Mike remarked, "but that doesn't mean we can let our guard down. There's still plenty of things that can go wrong with Glitchtrap still out there, and if we can trust Fazbear Entertainment to do one thing, we can trust that damn company to fuck things up one way or another."

/

A/N: We certainly are moving things along, aren't we? We get a look into the inner workings of Fazbear Entertainment, who, as you probably guessed, are full of self-serving assholes. But even they can see the writing on the wall, and they're not stupid enough to refuse Mike Schmidt when his demands to fixing the fire exit issue are fairly reasonable and easy to implement.

Thus, we have the new blueprints. To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Fazbear Entertainment went with the lazy and uninspired route of removing the walls and doors blocking the exit instead of actually relocating and redesigning the building. Uncreative as hell, but it does solve the problem, and Mike isn't going to needlessly push for more when he essentially got what he wanted.

Mike and the ghost kids might've solved one huge problem, but that doesn't magically make all the issues with Security Breach go away. They don't have oversight and control over the Pizzaplex like they did with the Special Delivery project, and they don't have the knowledge or the means to deal with the other problems lurking underneath the Pizzaplex's shiny interior.

The next chapter will either be one filler chapter, or time-skipping straight to Mike's tour of the Pizzaplex. The overall building structure and some basic furnishings and decorations will be completed, like Averus stated in his email, but the final product will be far from finished when Mike goes through his tour.

That's all I have for now. Hope you guys enjoyed!
