Jack Blackwood used to be a hero.
Not the profession, back in his day, being a hero was a trait, something that was about character, not status. Jack had always done his best to make sure that bandits and other scum. He was a sheriff, and it was his duty to uphold the law and protect the people.
His wife and daughter didn't see it that way. They saw a man who put work over his family, and one day he caught his wife in bed with another man...the woman he loved with all of his heart, who'd he would die for, sleeping with some stranger.
When it happened, Jack wasn't even mad, just crushed. His wife tried to justify her infidelity, saying how he neglected her.
She was right of course, but he was dedicated to work because of his family. He wanted to protect them, why couldn't she see that?
It didn't matter though, the damage was done, and Jack doubled down on his work. He was determined to become the best lawman to ever live, because if his family was going to abandon him, that was the only thing he could do to find some sort of happiness.
His daughter had grown up, believing that her dad didn't care about her, but after her mother was caught cheating, she finally realized the truth, both her and her mother did. They tried to reconcile with him, they tried to be a family...
Jack told them, right to their face, that it was too late. He had no time for traitors...his work was now all he had.
His wounded pride, and his broken heart, made no room for forgiveness. He was bitter...and he pushed them away. They both faded into the background, begging and pleading for him to stay.
Only after they faded away into obscurity, did Jack finally break. He loved them, he truly did...but he was a stubborn man, and he didn't want to come crawling back to them like some runaway dog.
He was better than that, he was the best lawman to ever live.
One day, a bandit by the name of Black Tom McGraw began a spree of heists and murders. The McGraw gang was practically unstoppable, kidnapping young girls from houses, robbing banks, they even stole an entire train.
Jack was determined to take them down. If he could take out this seemingly invincible outlaw, his name would be cemented in history. It would be the greatest honor, the man who took out a monster.
A true hero.
The best to have ever lived...
Then...after months of pursuing this man, Jack made a shocking discovery...his daughter was among the women they kidnapped. The daughter he had pushed away.
She was alive, she was rescued, but she would never be the same. They sent her to a mental asylum for the trauma she had experienced at the hands of this madman. He should've been there to save her...
His little girl.
Pride had become rage, and more than anything, Jack Blackwood was now out for blood. He abandoned his badge, and dressed in all black. He hid his identity by wrapping bandages across his face, and he began hunting down the members of the McGraw gang, brutally killing them one-by-one.
His skill with a revolver was unparalleled...after all, he had years of practice. Each and every one of the criminals he hunted down was turned into Swiss cheese.
Black Tom had eventually heard of this mysterious vigilante that was killing his entire criminal empire, and put a bounty out for him, so now Jack had to deal with bounty hunters on top of it.
Many nights, he spent the time treating wounds, his handsome face had become scarred, worn, unshaven, all that mattered was Black Tom, his appearance didn't matter. Finally...after gunning down criminals and fellow vigilantes alike...
He had found the bastard.
"Well, well, well...it's come down to this." Black Tom said, grinning.
"It has...you're gonna die today, and I'm gonna make it slow."
"Real tough guy, huh?"
Jack put a hand on his revolver, his green eyes had begun to glow slightly. The Dark Determination burning bright. "You have no idea how far I'll go."
Black Tom's silver-plated teeth grinned back, a wide, sadistic smile that reeked of stale tobacco and beer. "You can't kill me...no one can. I've got a...special little charm on me..."
The man in black shifted his weight. "Charm?"
"Yes...I can't die unless I challenge someone to a duel...and if I do, there's a pretty high chance that they'll die instead." Black Tom tilted his head to the side and stroked his beard, still smiling, still sure of himself. "It's hopeless...I'M IMMORTAL! I'M NEVER GOIN' TO HELL!"
Jack snorted. "As if that isn't bullshit. I knew you were insane, but no man can be immortal. We all have to die eventually..."
"Who are you, to have chased me this far anyway?"
Jack removed the bandages from his face, glaring at Black Tom. "A father who needs to do somethin' right for his little girl, for a change."
Black Tom stared at him for a moment, before erupting into laughter. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA! BLACKWOOD?! YOU'RE KIDDING ME! THE GOODY TWO-SHOES SHERIFF?! I THOUGHT YOU WERE SQUEAKY CLEAN!"
"You broke my daughter...you ruined her life."
"I heard you were the best sheriff in this side of Louisiana, but damn, now you're a criminal...and for what? To fail."
"You seem mighty confident...don't tell me you actually believe that tall tale you were tellin' me earlier." Jack said, about to draw his gun.
Black Tom grinned. "How about I show you? I challenge you to a duel, Jack Blackwood!"
Jack angrily spat on the ground. "As if! I'm challenging you, Jackass!"
Black Tom rubbed his hands together. "I was hopin' you'd say that...activate Else Draw Against My Hand."
"What the-"
Jack blinked, he was in a completely different location.
Black Tom had somehow transported them both to a tavern, filled with corpses. Jack looked around, and recognized them as the man's victims. "How...did...?"
Then he saw it...his ex-wife among the dead, her face frozen in a scream...a bullet hole in her head.
Still reaching out for their daughter.
This...this is...my fault...
That was the moment, when Jack looked back on it years later, that he became Tombstone. That was the moment where his fate was sealed.
He didn't even hear Black Tom speak, he didn't see Drink With the Living Dead giving him a warning about what would happen if he won...
As soon as Black Tom drew his gun, Jack shot him dead. It only took a second to draw his gun, and it only took a second for Jack to get on the downed man, and began pistol whipping the dead criminal in the face, screaming at the top of his lungs.
Each punch was a blow for his family.
Each blow, the pain that came from his failure to protect them.
His pride was shattered, as was Black Tom's skull.
He had gotten his revenge...but it came at a permanent cost...
"He deserved it, you know."
Living Dead consoled it's user, but Jack could only stare at the broken old man that was looking back at him from the water.
"Jack..."
"I'm..still trying to do the right thing...but those kids...they were terrified of me..."
"Well, you just pulled a fuckin' gun on them."
Jack continued to look in the water. "Living Dead...do you think I have descendants? I never went out to meet my daughter after she was released...do you think she had a happy life?"
"I'm a stand meant for killing, I wouldn't know."
"It's only been what? Over a century...it feels like a million years since 1890..."
Jack got up and brushed himself off, and began wrapping his head, until the faceless gunslinger known as Tombstone stood in his place. "Doesn't matter...the island is burning, and someone needs to put the arsonist in their place. I'm done feelin' sorry for myself for one day."
"What about this traitor? We still gonna kill em?"
"Yes...but we should be more careful about it...maybe...we should try to be closer to the UA students, get them to trust us. Then, we can spot the traitor without shooting someone who doesn't deserve it."
"...and when is the killing going to happen?"
"You're too bloodthirsty for your own good."
"I'm getting better!"
Tombstone began cleaning his gun, knowing full well that he would soon be firing it, as Nine's forces where gathering.
Jack Blackwood? He's dead...
I'm just a Tombstone.
Momo peered around the corner as the stand searched through the dark catacombs, trying to find her. She had retreated into the island's sewer system to avoid Paradise City, only to learn too late that it had a high stat in speed.
Luckily, it hadn't adjusted to the dark, and she had put her shield on her back, so the stand's touch didn't work.
It attacked me with it's fingertips instead of a fist, so it must have something to do with it's ability. I can't let it touch me, not even once.
"So...a sewer? To be honest, I didn't expect someone with your background to be willing to crawl around in filth...a rich girl in the dirtiest place imaginable..."
I may have had an upbringing from a wealthy family, but that doesn't define my character. Momothought to herself as she ducked out of the stand's line of sight. So what? I'm in a sewer...
It's disgusting, but I'm not going to complain...this sewer is saving my life at the moment.
It's still bound to the physical world, to the environment...I can use that to my advantage.
Momo created a long string and two hooks, and jabbed the hooks into the walls, and began running down the corridor, hoping that Paradise City would hear the splashing and chase her, tripping over the tripwire and hopefully dealing some damage...
She looked back, only to find that the stand wasn't chasing her at all.
Did it not hear me?
Momo stopped, and turned around, narrowing her eyes. I intentionally made lots of noise...it wasn't far away from me, it must have...
Momo caught on just in time, and ducked as Paradise City's arms. The stand had caught onto her trap, and had chased her from the ceiling instead of the ground. It was hanging directly above her, like some demented spider.
"Clever, quite clever. Of course, a simple tumble isn't going to stop me, but I appreciate the effort. Tell me honestly...do you really believe you can defeat me? Your quirk cannot affect me, and you cannot touch me...surely you are aware of your predicament."
Momo pressed her lips together as the terrifying stand lowered itself to the ground in front of her. Of course I do...of course I realize how hopeless this situation is...compared to my friends, I don't measure up. I can't fight stands the way they can...I can't fight you...
Momo clenched her fists. "I do...I have no advantage in the slightest. I cannot just let you kill me-"
"You misunderstand, I am not killing you...I'm saving you. Elysium is paradise..." Paradise City swung an appendage at her, and she barely managed to block the attack.
It's fast...really fast...
Momo ran further into the sewer as she heard the stand's mechanical spider legs whirring after her, and she created liquid from her palm, squirting it behind her. Then she scraped her shield against the walls, creating sparks.
One positive thing my experiences have given me is to observe allies and enemies alike. Let's see how you hold up against Santana's gasoline attack.
Flames erupted behind her as she continued to squirt gasoline, but she had to stop eventually, creating liquids takes more lipids, and she had to conserve them in order to survive this fight.
Paradise City retreated from the flames, but shot a hand over them, stopping mere inches away from her face.
"Damn...you're outside of my arm's range. Well played Yaoyorozu, truly you live up to what I've read about you. This isn't over though...you won't leave these sewers...and you won't be telling your friends about me."
"That remains to be seen."
I hope my plan works...otherwise I'm doomed...
It's sad...this is the first time I've fought an enemy stand one-on-one...and all I can do is run and hope for the best. I feel like some helpless damsel in distress.
I'm behind the others in terms of stand combat...but I won't let him bring me down, no matter how useless I am in this situation.
If I can't fight harder, I'll fight smarter.
Mahoro Shimano looked up from her tears to find that Kyoka Jiro had taken a seat next to her. "What's wrong?"
"I...I..."
"It's okay, you can tell me when you're up to it."
Mahoro sniffled, and Kyoka just sat next to her. The older girl's presence was comforting, Mahoro could feel that this was someone who wanted to help her.
"I was...really mean to Mr. Deku...and he got hurt trying to save us..."
"He does that...to be honest, he didn't even care that you were mean to him."
"I know! I...I was just trying to stop my brother from becoming a hero, because it's so dangerous, I don't want him to get hurt."
"Being a hero isn't just a job, you know...it's what a person is. Izu-Deku is a hero because he wants to save everyone, even if they're mean to him. Your brother...he is trying his very best to heal him as we speak. Katsuma is already a hero."
"I love him...if he becomes a hero, he'll have to fight villains like you guys, right?"
"No, that isn't what a hero is about. A hero saves people, take my goal for example...I want to be a hero that makes people smile, whether it's from saving them from a villain or cheering them up."
"So..."
"Your brother doesn't have to fight villains, all he needs to do is help people, something that he's already doing...look at me."
Mahoro lifted her head, and Kyoka looked the scared child in the eye. "We aren't going to let anything happen to either of you...I promise. I will lay down my life, to make sure that you and Katsuma are going to come out of this okay. I know it's scary...but I need you to trust us, okay?"
"O-okay..."
Kyoka was being completely sincere, she meant every single word. Mahoro jumped towards the older girl and threw her arms around her, sobbing, and Kyoka simply returned the hug, rubbing her back as she let it out.
"Hey...did you know that diarrhea is hereditary?"
Mahoro paused, and looked Kyoka in the eyes, confused. "What?"
"It runs in your genes."
Mahoro blinked, before finally catching on, and she began cackling, her tear stained face stretched into a wide grin as she gaffawed at Kyoka's poop joke.
Thanks for the stupid jokes, Gyro. Kyokathought to herself as she began to laugh along with Mahoro.
Nine coughed as he got out of bed, looking out at the island.
They had holed up in the island's lighthouse, and the first thing they noticed was the capture of Mummy. Somehow, the teenagers protecting the island managed to defeat him.
The group that confronted the Necromancer is here...so I'd imagine they are quite formindable. Nine thought to himself. That Midoriya kid, he continued to fight until I fried him, and even then he focused on saving his aggressive friend.
I got this quirk from Ujiko, to gain enough power to fight my illness, but without that Cell Activation quirk I'm done for.
Nine remembered when he first met D'arby:
"I heard that you're a desperate man."
"Maybe I am, who are you to ask?"
"My name is Telence T. D'arby...and I could have something that could help you." The man with the strange cone-shaped hair said with a calm smile. "Surely you have heard of the recent defeat of the Necromancer?"
"I have, he double-crossed too many people, and the heroes finished him off...I assume we are on the same sids of the coin?"
"We are...I was someone that the Necromancer entrusted with his...post-mortem plans, and considering that you're currently suffering from an illness that will likely kill you, I believe your support could be...beneficial to the both of us."
Nine turned around. "This is all very sudden, how am I supposed to believe you are a man of your word?"
"Ujiko is going to use you for his experiments, is he not?"
Nine wrinkled his nose. "He's not."
D'arby filtered his head to the side. "Liar."
"I am tel-"
"No, that is not the truth...my stand, Atum, allows me to read your mind. Ujiko is planning to give you something special, but to him you are nothing more than a lab rat...right?"
"...yes."
"Good, you know this. What if I told you there was a way to get this kind of power, and to keep your illness at bay indefinitely? No painful experiments required."
Nine raised an eyebrow, interested. "I'm listening..."
*end of flashback.*
D'arby was a man of his word, Thriller could have saved him.
Unfortunately, the Alpha had disappeared after confronting the heroes, and it was likely that he was dead. At the very least, D'arby's fate is unknown...
Meaning the eye was no longer in Nine's grasp, even though D'arby was genuine, life decided to kick him in the pants once again.
And now the very same people who had ruined his chance were trying to ruin his second one.
Nine clenched his fist, his anger growing. I even got close to getting a fraction of the Necromancer's power, and still it was ripped from me! Who do these kids think they are?! Just because they took out one bad guy, they can cause trouble for me?!
That Cell Activation quirk will be mine, and if they try to stop me...
They will all die.
Nine took out the photos that D'arby had given him, Izuku Midoriya, Johnny Kujo, Gyro Zeppleli, Kyoka Jiro, Momo Yaoyorozu, Katsuki Bakugo, and the newest addition, and someone who contributed to D'arby's defeat, Ochako Uraraka.
These...Shitheads, are going to pay dearly if they get in my way.
Izuku felt like he needed to go on vacation again.
Thanks to Katsuma, he had made a complete recovery from his abrupt deep-frying, and he couldn't wait to get back out there and teach Nine a lesson...
Except his friends decided to beat the shit out of him all over again, particularly Katsuki.
"Ow..."
"YOU IDIOT! WHY THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT?!"
"I'm sorry Kacchan..."
"...you scared me."
Izuku's breath caught in his throat. "Kacchan...did...?"
"YOU HEARD ME, FUCKING NERD!" Katsuki screamed in his face.
Izuku sat up, and Ochako crushed him in a surprise hug. Izuku turned into a stuttering mess as he realized just how tight she was clinging onto him...
"Please don't do that to me again...Deku..."
"I-I'm s-sorry."
"You're lucky she was there, Izuku." Kyoka said from the doorway. "He would have finished you two off if she hadn't intervened...why didn't you call for help?"
"I er...forgot? I was in the middle of combat, I was just trying to survive."
"Yeah, well you need to try a little harder. Gave us all a heart attack..."
"I'm so sorry...where's everyone else? JoJo? Gyro? YaoMomo?"
"YaoMomo is in danger, Kami lost contact with her when they were repairing the cell tower...and she sent us an encrypted message. A remote stand is attacking her..." Kyoka informed her friend, despite her optimism in cheering up Mahoro earlier, she looked like she was very worried.
"She can't damage remote stands..."
"That's why Meatball dragged JoJo off to save her...we're under attack, from all sides. Truth be told...this ain't looking too good for us." Katsuki sat down. "But we aren't going down without a fucking FIGHT!"
"I agree." Izuku lightly tapped Ochako on the shoulder, and she realized that she was still hugging him. Embarrassed, Ochako let go of him and stood off to the side. "We need to focus on this new villain...those three can handle the stand. This guy has All For One."
"How is that even possible?" Kyoka questioned. "I though All For One was a unique quirk, that's why that bastard has such a big head."
"Or maybe he just assumed he was unique. That egotistical prick was bold enough to think he can outdo a Pillar Man, why wouldn't he think that?"
"Look at you, calling someone else an egotistical prick." Kyoka teased.
"SHUT UP EARS, I'M GETTING BETTER!"
"Or...All For One is behind this." Izuku said, narrowing his eyes. "Is there such a thing as quirk duplication?"
"Maybe? But Deku...All For One is in prison." Ochako said.
"Shigiraki isn't."
"You mean Boney McCrustboy? I suppose it's possible...but he'd need help after what Santana did to him. If he is the reason this fucker has All For One...he can't be working alone." Kyoka stuffed her hands in her pockets. "Still, we have to take out his guy before he gets to those kids, and we need to take out his entourage."
"Rally the rest of the class." Ochako said. "They aren't part of the group...but it's not like they can't fight the villains too."
"That's what we were going to do, but we need to make sure YaoMomo is safe first." Izuku said, his eyes coming into an angry V. "Then, we attack, and don't hold back."
Katsuki stood up. "Wasn't planning on it."
"Kill them if necessary." Kyoka joined in, putting a hand on her sword.
"Save the island." Ochako pumped her fist into the air, a determined look on her face.
It was time for the heroes to strike back.
Momo sprinted through the sewers, Paradise City had caught up with her, and was now trailing behind her, swinging from the walls and taking swipes at her as she began losing stamina.
She was about to pass out, she had been running for so long, and whenever she tried to go for an exit, Paradise City was there waiting for her.
She was a mouse in a maze, desperately searching for a piece of cheese as a hungry cat was determined to make her it's next meal. This stand was intelligent, very intelligent, and it had outsmarted her at every turn.
"The voice box trick was impressive, as well as the net, and you have consistently avoided capture. However, you are not a match for me. As I said before, you are only prolonging the inevitable."
All Momo wanted to do was encase herself in a metal box and cry. No matter what she did, no matter how many traps she set, this stand was smarter than her. She was at a complete disadvantage, no matter what she did.
That's when she came upon a dead end.
"No...NO!" Momo punched the wall as the stand began inching closer. "NO, PLEASE! PLEEEASE!"
"About time we reached this spot, I was worried I had analyzed the wrong sewer map."
Momo created her shield and deflected a strike from Paradise City. She was cornered, she had run out of tricks, and now she was tired, and cornered...
And she was terrified, all out of hope. Gyro...Gyro please. Momo thought to herself as her knees buckled from another strike. I need you...I can't do this on my own...I'm useless...
I'm useless...against this opponent.
He outclassed me in every way, strength, speed, intelligence...
Please...I don't want to go.
Momo thought back to the game that she and Gyro had played, dancing around their romance. Kyoka, her best friend, laughing together at mundane things and having girl on girl talks. Izuku, his courage and determination during Bakugo's rescue inspiring her to give it her all during the Provisional License Exam, and later finding out about his quirk, and the fact that he was a target, made her respect him even more. Even Katsuki, with his temper, inspired her to do better.
"You're amazing, Momo, your brain, your heart, those are the things that made me fall for you." Gyro'svoice rang through her head.
"Really?"
"Well, and you're SMOKIN' HOT!"
"Oh dear..."
Momo remembered it all too well. Gyro...I love you, because you're unabashedly yourself. You are confidence, you are strength, and you never take yourself too seriously. You are everything I want to be. You're my inspiration...how could I be worthy of a man like you, if I give up now?
I WILL NOT LET HIM TAKE ME!
Momo pushed back, her shield in front of herself, as she began walking towards Paradise City.
"Pushing the attack? You do know that you cannot harm me, right? You're smarter than this."
Momo remained silent, and Paradise City attempted to reach around her sheild, only for a boxing glove to pop out of her shoulder. It didn't hurt it, but it prevented it from touching her.
"Why do you resist?! What's the point?! Have you abandoned your intelligence for pig-headed stubbornness?"
Momo began for ing the stand backwards, and Paradise City was genuinely confused. Why are you fighting me?! There's no point! Damn! She isn't letting me touch her!
Every time Paradise City tried to find an opening, an object appeared to block it. Momo kept forcing the stand back, pushing, her adrenaline and her determination the only thing keeping her going as she pushed.
"STOP! YOU'RE ANNOYING ME!"
"I. WON'T. LET. YOU. WIN!"
"ENOUGH!"
Paradise City retracted it's fist, and punched the shield as hard as it could out of frustration. Momo crumpled under the mighty blow, and skidded across the sewer water, thudding against the wall.
Paradise City threw the dented shield aside, and once again began approaching her. Momo attempted to get up, but her body wasn't letting her. She had exhausted herself to the limit.
The stand reached down, it's fingers twitching in annoyance as it came centimeters close to the tired heroine's face. "It's over, you fought well, better than most...but my patience has worn thin. You will be taken NOW! I-"
*Squeak!*
Paradise City snapped it's head over to the sound, and a small rat was observing the scene.
"No...stay back..."
It's...afraid of rats." Momo realized as Paradise City backed away from her. It has Musophobia!
It has a weakness!
I heard that some phobias are so bad that they end up reflexively attacking anything that remotely looks like what they are afraid of...I have enough lipids for one final push...
Let's hope this works.
Momo weakly raised her arm, and began creating small, wind up rats. The wind up rats began marching their way towards the enemy stand.
"No...NO! STAY BACK! NO! GET AWAY FROM ME YOU DISEASE-RIDDEN VERMIN! DIE! DIE! DIEDIEIDIEDIEDIEDIEIDE!"
Paradise City began punching the rats, individually beating each one into the ground, but Momo kept on creating them, her body screaming at her to stop. For each rat she created, the stand's pure terror escalated.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! STAY AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!" Paradise City had become a frantic ball of pure fear, it's calm and calculating demeanor had disappeared completely. It was having a mental breakdown.
Momo just kept creating, and Paradise City just kept smashing...
And then a steel ball smashed into the side of the terrified stand's head. Blood flew from the crack as Paradise City stumbled to the side, and it charged Gyro, but a nail bullet knocked it aside.
Gyro and Johnny had arrived, and the dynamic duo was giving Momo's tormentor hell.
With every steel ball that missed, a nail bullet compensated, with every punch thrown by the desperate stand, a punch from either Tusk or Ball Breaker followed. Paradise City was being beaten senseless, it's confidence and intelligence didn't matter when it was afraid.
Momo made her opponent crack under pressure, and it was paying dearly from it.
A bloody Paradise City had regained some of it's composure however, and activated it's ace. "PARADISE CITY: TAKE ME HOME!"
Gyro and Johnny both separated as the stand sucked itself into it's own chest cavity, and disappeared from their sight altogether.
"It's gone...it...took itself?" Johnny questioned, swiping at the air where Paradise City had disappeared. "This has to be the stand that Uncle Josuke was investigating...I guess that confirms that it's victims aren't dead, if it's willing to use it's ability on itself...what was it doing here?!"
Gyro kneeled beside Momo and slowly picked up her head. "Momo?"
Momo had never looked so frail...
"I...tried...my best..."
"We wouldn't have gotten the drop on it if you hadn't figured out what it was afraid of. It's okay Bambina...I'm here." Gyro sorrowfully consoled his girlfriend. "It can't hurt you anymore..."
"You...gave...me...strength." Momo wheezed out. She had overused her quirk, and was barely awake, let alone alive. "I...couldn't...give up."
"Bambina..."
"We need to get her back to the old factory, she needs to eat something, now." Johnny said, looking at his partner with an intense gaze.
"Yeah...I'm going to pick you up now, okay? You're going to be fine..." Gyro was on the verge of tears. "You're going to be fine..."
"Gy...ro...?"
"Yes?" Momo weakly reached up and touched Gyro's face, and caressed his cheek.
"I...love...you."
"I love you too. More than the world."
Momo smiled, and then passed out. Gyro picked her up, and walked over to Johnny, his lip quivering.
"Johnny..."
"Yes?"
"If I ever see the triangle-head bastard again...will you help me finish the job?"
"You already know the answer to that."
Gyro nodded. "I can't use my steel balls while I'm carrying her...guard us."
"I will."
The two began heaving Momo out of the sewer, and Gyro was silent the whole way back.
If Paradise City ever showed it's face again, it wouldn't have a face for very long.
A dark shape of a man in a wide brimmed hat began coughing, falling to the floor. Blood leaked everywhere from the man's wounds, and all this mysterious figure could do is sit with it's back to it's work desk.
"I...underestimated you, Momo Yaoyorozu. You used my phobia against me, something I couldn't control, and I was forced to retreat from the island." The man's voice was muffled, but the British accent was unmistakable.
"I thought you'd be the easiest to defeat, but you consistently avoided my stand. It's obvious now...you are my greatest adversary. Next time...next time I will not be underestimating your intelligence...and I'll be getting your friends out of the way first."
The man propped himself up onto his desk with some difficulty, and examined his wounds in the mirror. "Nothing untreatable. Thank the Lord above for my training..."
A knife and a needle and thread were pulled from the desk, and the man turned away and limped towards an unknown destination. "This should be easy, after all, I am very precise."
Momo wouldn't get the drop on him next time, and she would soon learn what paradise truly is.
That...was a promise, and he was a man of his word.
