—THIS... IS UNDOUBTEDLY... AN ETERNAL POSE—Toshinori said while holding the compass at everyone sight... For the first time in weeks, he showed a determined smile on his face and at the same time, generating confusion on everyone present.
—What is this artifact? —Present Mic asked while some students swallowed their saliva waiting for the answer, just to being pushed out of the way by the energetic girl who was about to froth at the mouth like a madwoman.
—CAN IT BE?! Let me see it… Mr. All Might Sir?! —She reacted trying to regain his composure after seeing how the compass came out of that millenary stone whose mysteries were still undiscovered.
—YOU CAN STOP WITH THE FORMALITIES EMILY-SAN... —He was trying to relax the girl whose behavior had taken a 180° turn.
—All Might Sensei... What is that thing and how do you know about it? —Ochako stepped forward with the question all wanted to ask.
—How did you know it would come out of there? —Jirou asked.
—And... and... This... How did you know what you had to... do, to get it? —Kouda asked timidly.
—How did you figure out that, that circle was not part of the message? —Sato joined the barrage of questions.
There were several questions, but his teacher could only exhale in relief, still surprised at his finding.
—IT IS A COMPASS THAT WILL ALWAYS POINT TO A SPECIFIC DESTINATION, FORMERLY USED TO LOCATE ISLANDS WITH A UNIQUE MAGNETIC FIELD. —Explained All Might
—THAT JUST MAKE MORE FUCKING QUESTIONS! —Shouted the explosive boy in annoyance.
Kirishima tried to calm his friend who had raised way too much his voice.
—RELAX YOUNG BAKUGO, THE QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED AT ITS TIME... ACTUALLY ALL THIS FEELS LIKE DEJA VU, AS IF I HAD ALREADY LIVED IT. —He said confused without being able to remember how he got that knowledge.
—THIS HAD ALREADY HAPPENED... ONLY NOW THE ROLES OF WHO DELIVERS AND RECEIVES THE INFORMATION HAVE BEEN EXCHANGED. —He thought to himself.
—"The dependence on their quirks only limits people... Creating weak beings"_ —WHO ARE YOU?
—"Your Quirks is nothing more than a weak version of a devil's fruit"— _DEVIL'S FRUIT?
—"How can you aspire to be the best if you only rely on your Quirk?"
—All Might sensei, I think we should report this to the museum directors. —The young man with glasses and blue hair complained aloud.
—I agree with Iida-Kun, this belongs to the nation. —His pupil joined the argument.
—ALL MIGHT LET ME HOLD IT PLEASEEEEEE, I PROMISE TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT AND NOT SAY ANYTHING, I JUST WANT TO SEE SOMETHING, PLEEEEEEAAAASE, I WILL KISS YOUR FEET. —Emily's screams that did not diminish her insistence brought the hero out of his trance.
—First of all... Disgusting Emily... Come on Number One, lend it to her for a second... STOP EM! YOU'RE AN EMBARRASSMENT TO OUR FAMILY! —Robert complained while his skin tone matched little Eri's eyes.
—Deku-kun, why does Miss Emily wants to kiss Uncle Might's feet? —Deku went blank at the little girl's innocent question not wanting to answer it, while Mineta's eyes were unblinkingly attentive to the scene.
—Don't be so degenerate Mineta, Kero. —Froppy said disappointed at his partner, but not surprised.
The blond lent the Eternal Pose to the girl who immediately started to walk around the red Poneglyph, completely invading the restricted area... when she completed the turn Emily just walked away with a big smile and returned the artifact.
—As I guessed, it's of no use to you... you've reached the location your compass is looking for... The Red Poneglyph. —She said proudly with a smile on her face.
All Might hadn't related it before...
—YOU KNEW THE NAME OF THESE STELES WERE PONEGLYPH AND YOU MENTIONED YOU HAD ALREADY HEARD OF THEM... YOU FOCUSED ON WHERE THE ETERNAL POSE WAS KEPT AND NOW YOU KNEW EXACTLY THAT IT WAS POINTING TO THIS OTHER RED ONE... HOW? YOU TOO...? —As he pronounced those last words, a wave of memories, sensations and voices began to manifest in his head, causing the hero to start feeling dizzy.
—For not having any information about this exhibition, you seem to be quite informed Missy. —The spiky blond hero complained.
—ALL MIGHT! —Izuku and Kirishima shouted while running towards him as soon they saw his teacher fainting.
—WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM? —Ojiro asked accusingly.
Aizawa's hair began to levitate as he activated his quirk looking at the brothers, but that didn't make any difference to the blond.
—Ahhhh! What's wrong with him? —The twins were shocked.
All Might's consciousness began to fade away, a bunch of memories began to manifest in his head. His body lost his balance, Midoriya held him so he wouldn't collapse, while his teacher could only hear the scattered voices of his students.
—Also… —He said with his voice fading, worrying his students and hero mates...
—You also know the Gran Line? —He managed to finish his sentence as his head and body lost strength fainting for a few moments.
~6 YEARS EARLIER / NEW YORK~
The sound of sirens approached altercation area, when a gust of wind ruffled the leaves of the trees in the same direction. A blue, white and red figure was seen high above and suddenly at great speed descended to the ground.
A man as big as the smile on his face landed on top of an armored car containing 7 individuals.
—FORGET THE CAR, GRAB WHAT YOU CAN AND RUN AWAY, WE DON'T STAND A CHANCE! —Shouted a male with the body of a praying mantis as he flew at high speed towards the Hero, launching several attacks with its blades.
_I may not be as strong as this monster, but any second I can give the boys will be of..._ His thoughts were interrupted as his body was quickly whipped, leaving him embedded and unconscious in the steel of the vehicle.
As the man-tis regained consciousness pulling his face away from the bodywork, he could faintly visualize his team piled unconscious a few feet away from him.
A call came in on the Hero's communicator
—ALL MIGHT WE NEED YOU IN THE WALL STREET AREA, THOSE CRIMINALS WERE ONLY A BAIT!
In a matter of minutes, the burly man found his target, he could see the empty streets on the area of the incident, the New York police had cleared the roads to avoid injuries during the persecution... He only had to locate the sound of the cars that were not far away...
A shockwave of air cleared the streets sweeping three armored cars that were moving in caravan attacking different directions, being expelled with great force ramming them against a building, causing several material damages from lighting, cars, and a tower of high renown.
The blond saw how the policemen took charge of the situation, continuing with his patrol just as he was interrupted by a call that made him a little nervous.
—All Might… I've been informed that you damaged the tower in the North area... I have told you several times to keep losses to a minimum. —Said David Shield, his friend who now had to take care of the material damage.
—I'M SORRY DAVID, IT WAS A SPECIAL CASE, THE COMPANIES IN THIS AREA ARE MULTIMILLIONAIRES, WHAT WILL BE INVESTED IN REPAIRS IS EQUIVALENT TO A MINIMUN FRACTION OF WHAT THEY EARN IN A DAY. —The hero excused himself.
—The insurance company will go bankrupt if you continue like this... Have you returned what they stole?
—THE POLICE IS TAKING CARE OF THAT, FOR THE MOMENT I'M DOING SOME PATROLIG IN CASE SOME VILLAIN IS ON THE RUN. —He commented as he felt some suspicious movement through the deserted streets, abruptly falling silent.
—What's going on pal, is everything all right?
He sensed a strange presence coming from an alley in a secluded area.
—I'LL CALL YOU BACK. —The hero hung up while wondering, what that sensation could be? Normally he can identify the presences of bloodthirsty villains, but this was different...
He was able to sense the existence of an immeasurable force that conveyed no hostility coming from the alleyway nearby, proceeding to approach cautiously... It seemed something out of the ordinary, the day was too bright for the alley being so dark.
Despite being in a skyscraper area, there should be a strip of light coming in from the back side. He looked carefully at the walls that delimited the alley.
There was a color difference in the surfaces, the colors of the refractive materials were smooth and clear... but then it began to look black without reflection... _VANTABLACK_ The surfaces and objects did not produce any type of light nor shadow, causing an appearance of emptiness. The hero did not know whether to go deeper or ask for a second opinion.
The area began to show its contents, as what appeared to be ashes slid away, uncovering walls, containers and boxes. The hero now had in front of him an amorphous figure generating the sensation of void.
The hero's body was overcome by a hot sensation, adrenaline began to warn him to get away from there, but before he could finish thinking what to do, he was enveloped by a cloud of ashes that deprived him of seeing any kind of light.
All Might tried to cling to the particles, but it was like being in nothingness...
_WHERE IS UP? NORTH? BACK? IF I LAUNCH ANY ATTACK, I WILL DAMAGE THE BUILDINGS... SHOULD I STAY WHERE I AM? _He thought to himself while he took out his cellphone to communicate with David but it was dialing without signal... With a determined look and gritting his teeth he made a decision... All Might put his phone away and formed a fist taking position to strike upwards where he supposed there was nothing.
—TEXAAAAAAAAS... —Before even throwing the punch, his body began to cast a shadow in front of him revealing a cut stone floor, the sky was clear with warm colors revealing a beautiful sunset, and colorful silhouettes began to appear around him, coming from them the sound of a crowd.
His body remained tense as he analyzed his surroundings. A medium sized town with buildings of various heights, their roofs were different colors as well as their constructions, the old-style streetlights showed the beginnings of being turned on and the streets were wide, but not enough to be traveled by cars as could be seen due to the number of stairs and slopes that it had.
A town built in the foothills of a mountain with warm weather... _I'M NOT IN NEW YORK ANYMORE _ Concluded the Blond as he observed how he was judged by all the glances surrounding him.
—What's with that ridiculous costume?
—Why is he in such a strange position?
—Is it some kind of street show?
People commented somewhat confused by the scene.
The disoriented Hero relaxed his posture understanding that he was not known in that place and his behavior could be misunderstood.
—GOOD AFTERNOON CITIZENS, COULD YOU TELL ME, WHERE AM I? —He said in a medium volume with his classic proud standing.
People looked at each other strangely, until a kind old man with pink cheeks came out of the crowd approaching the weird buff man.
—Come on boy, you don't need to make a spectacle of yourself when you're lost, you are not a child... If you're confused, I can help you. —He grabbed him by his cloak and pulled him out of the crowd.
—ETO... THANK YOU SIR. —He replied little bit confused in his characteristic loud voice.
—Keto, my name is Keto, I know I'm old but you don't need to shout at me, modulate your voice young man... —The old man complained.
—ALL MIGHT. I'm sorry... I didn't mean to offend you Mr. Keto. —Said the blond ashamed.
—All Might? What a name, I don't know if your parents hated or expected a lot from you boy. —The old man replied as he let go of his cape and directed him to a bar.
—I see that my name is still not so well known in the outskirts of America. —He said softing his voice a bit.
In front of them was a triple height bar with warm tones, the atmosphere was a little wild, fresh blood could be seen on a neglected table that hinted a recent brawl. A huge wall was decorated with "Wanted" posters, customers had different heights, the most remarkable one was around 5 meters tall with large gums, others with attributes of fish, some of sloppy appearance and only a few of them were neat. But at first glance mostly pure criminals...
_A FRIENDLY OLD MAN AND A HERO IN A BRIGHTLY COLORED SUIT, WE STOOD OUT WAY TOO MUCH AMONG THESE BANDITS. _
—What a variety of people, but I think it's not a suitable environment for you. —The blond commented worriedly.
—Bullshit! That's why I brought you All Might. I need a big and strong drinking buddy who will come to some ass kicking in case it's necessary... As they say, the more repulsive the place, the better the beer. —The old man started laughing causing his face to turn even more red, almost scarlet.
—I doubt that's even a thing, Mr. Keto. —The hero said worriedly.
—Or was it the cheaper, the better? Anyway, you take care of me and I'll answer. —He said while trying to get the attention of a waitress.
—Take off your cape young man, it attracts a lot of unwanted attention and this is not a suitable place for it... Regarding where we are... A seedy tavern HABABABABA. —The old man began to laugh while a drop of sweat ran down the back of the blond neck.
—We are on Pars Island, famous for its events and festivals... By chance, you didn't come to tomorrow's event and the pre-party wiped out your memories? —A waitress stop their chat to take the order.
—Beautiful lady, would you be so kind as to bring us two jars of your craft beer, please.
—Mr. Keto, you are very kind, but I don't drink alcohol. —All Might complained... Keto only pretended insanity when he heard that comment.
—Make them three. —He gave the waitress a smile as he turned his attention with a serious expression to his drinking companion.
—So, you don't drink? Then I guess you didn't end up lost here because of drunkenness? —He commented curiously.
—Don't be ashamed of it, it happens to all of us HABABABABA —He said mockingly.
—I don't know what really happened... I just showed up here... It must have been an enemy's "Quirk". —He answered confused.
—Quirk? Never heard of that. —He replied even more clueless than his friend.
—It's the power we are born with. —The blond answered.
—Is that some kind of hippie shit? —He asked with a chuckle.
All Might confusedly change the subject
—I had never heard of Pars Island, where exactly is it located... Which Continent?
—Continent? I really don't understand the jargon that young people have now... We are on the Grand Line, bordering the Calm Belt. —The old man explained as he continued looking for the waitress.
—Where is that? And what is the Calm Belt? —The questions caught the good old man's attention again.
-HABABABABA... You don't use those weird substances that make you delirious, do you? Or have you been living under a rock all this time?... That would explain that muscular body of yours. —He commented while complimenting the blond athletic condition.
—You remind me of myself when I was young, so take note of what you'll look like boy. —Keto continued as he lamented.
—Your beers, old man. —The waitress said reluctantly.
All Might sense danger on the surroundings, instantaneously getting up from his seat ready to go towards the second floor of the bar when suddenly he felt a hand grabbing his wrist.
—It is NOT your problem, stay out of it. —The short-haired girl in maid costume replied with an irritated expression and tone.
—HABABABABABABA! —The old man began to laugh as he lifted his beer and smiled at the man.
—I told you... the cheaper, the better. —Sealing those words with a body falling at the center of the bar with a fresh wound caused by blades, spilling blood on the floor further annoying the girl who retreated grumbling for a mop.
—This generation fills me with life. —Keto said cheerfully toasting with his mug.
—NO ONE IS GOING TO DO ANYTHING? —The blond complained looking at the attitude of everyone present.
—Boy, don't be a hero, it's just a fight between pirates.
-PI-PIRATES?
The gentleman finished his beer in one gulp and was about to continue with the young man's beer...
—You're not really from here, huh boy? —He answered with a defiant look.
—I'll tell you everything, just answer me something to simplify... Where do you come from and who are you?
All Might proceeded to tell him about his work as a hero in America and the cities where he had lived in detail, analyzing the surprised expression on the old man, going into more detail talking about the Quirks and their effect on society.
—If it weren't for the fact that I only drank 6 jars of beer, I'd think I am drunk… Your story doesn't make any sense, it's as if they were two completely different worlds... Let me tell you about this era we are inhabiting. —He replied, erasing his smile.
Keto didn't want to beat around the bush, so he explained the essential... The beginning of the great pirate era, the power of the devil fruits and the great difference between their world of islands as opposed to the continents he mentioned.
The blond man's skin tone turned pale unable to believe that he was not in his world, not knowing how to get back...
—Calm down, boy. Are you sure you don't want a drink? I think you may need it. —The hero was so overwhelmed that he was speechless.
Keto slammed his jar on the table and then stood on it to become the center of attention.
—IF A QUIRK BROUGHT YOU TO THIS WORLD... THE POWER OF A DEVIL FRUIT CAN BRING YOU BACK! THIS SEA IS VAST AND FULL OF MYSTERIES! TO FIND YOUR ANSWER YOU JUST HAVE TO EXPLORE IT! —All Might, in an instinctive reflex, grabbed Keto from the table and protected him on the floor, seeing how the place where they were enjoying their conversation had split in two.
—WELL WELL… SHITTY OLD MAN, I CAN SEE YOUR BALLS HAVEN'T ROTTEN YET, BECAUSE YOU NEED TO STILL HAVE THEM TO COME IN HERE... FORMER CAPTAIN MURAI KETO!
—Boy, couldn't you protect this poor defenseless old man? —He complained playing the victim without showing any expression of fear on his face.
The dim light of the bar illuminated the hero rising slowly highlighting his muscular figure intimidating those present.
—Captain Brendam... I don't think it was a good idea to bother them... I mean... they didn't mess with us. —One of his shivering crewmen complained to his superior.
The captain was a mature man of slender but well-defined build with a tribal tattoo replacing his hair.
His piercing gaze turned contemptuously towards his subordinate, decapitating him instantly... The body collapsed in front of Brendam leaving a puddle that continued to grow until it reached the feet of his nakamas who saw without emotion, the lifeless body of their comrade.
—Does anyone else want to complaint? —The captain expressed with a nasal laugh and a sarcastic tone shrugging his shoulders, while resting his huge axe in one of them. The sadistic captain glanced at his comrade corpse only to remove his body from the path with a kick.
The atmosphere felt heavy, the chairs creaked indicating that the pirates were preparing to obey their captain's orders. About 20 pirates stood up armed, ready to attack waiting for a signal.
The hero's characteristic smile disappeared, he began to breathe agitated, his face looked enraged.
—EVEN IF HE WAS A VILLAIN... I WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU FOR TAKING A LIFE AS IF IT WERE INSIGNIFICANT! —He declared providing him with such a powerful punch in the stomach, that at contact he ejected his minions all over the premises, smashing several pieces of furniture and breaking the windows.
With one hit the blond caused the total destruction of the first floor… gaining the attention of the criminals that saw the brawl in total awe, except for the waitress who just threw her apron to the floor more annoyed than before.
—I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE! I QUIT AND HOPE EVERYONE OF YOU DIE! —She burst out of anger, leaving the bar in a rage.
—There goes the last waitress. —Thought the cooks and the barista.
All Might in his moment of anger didn't think about consequences, he saw the place trashed and remembered his friend's scolding, he needs to think more about the collateral damage. There were people who were affected by his attack and the bar was in worse shape than when they arrived.
The drunkards started a ruckus as they toasted _HAVE I RID THEM OF A TYRANT?_ All Might wondered walking away from the unconscious villains returning to help the old man.
—Good show pal, you should come more often… And I thought you weren't going to fit in. —Keto congratulated him with small and weak punches on the hero's chest.
All Might was offended, they were all a crowd of drunken troublemakers who cheered and enjoyed the violence, including the old man... And now in their eyes, he seemed to be part of them.
The blond left the place in annoyance followed by the old man who could barely run.
—AMAAITOO! —He shouted, trying to catch his breath.
—You need to travel to find your answers? Why don't you look for someone here? They like you boy. —He sketched a smile
—THANK YOU MR. KETO, BUT I WILL SEEK HELP FROM SOMEONE WHO IS ON THE SIDE OF JUSTICE. —The hero said, raising his voice in annoyance.
The old man trotted closer to the huge man and said calmly,
—From experience I can tell you...Haa...ha...If you go with the navy... —He took a deep breath.
—They're not going to take you where you need to go... You need experienced scouts, not wandering with heroes hoping that your route will arrive by some sort of miracle... And even if you don't like to hear it young man... The ones who know the seas better, are the pirates, even more than the sailors themselves.
—I WILL NEVER ACCEPT HELP FROM VILLAINS! THERE MUST BE ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE. —He complained in discomfort.
—Good luck finding a hero that will assist you with that task, they have more to do than help a simple individual... Now come... Don't go walking around the streets with that ridiculous outfit, besides... It's not like you have anywhere to sleep.
After that bitter experience he was not sure about following him, but in spite of his bizarre tastes, his intentions didn't seem to hide any malice and the old man already knew about his situation, but above all he did not doubt it.
—WAIT MR. KETO, WE DIDN'T PAY THE BILL —Said suddenly worried.
—Pay it? Young man... You already did... And don't worry... You left enough for them to give that pigsty a good remodeling... Those pirates had a reward of 35 million Berries. —Keto said with a smile.
All Might felt used... As a bodyguard... A perpetrator of street fights... In the blink of an eye, he was used as a bounty hunter, adding yet another humiliation to the list in less than 24 hours.
Mr. Keto's house was small but cozy, it was quite hidden away from the town, but with a spectacular view of the bay shore, the living room was small, showing that the old man lived alone. But one of its corners caught the attention of the hero as it was completely destroyed while the rest of the house was impeccable.
While All Might was getting dressed Mr. Keto continued with the conversation:
—I recommend you use your normal name Almaito, it is impolite to introduce yourself with a nickname... otherwise, I would have introduced myself as the three-legged monster. -—Said Keto mockingly.
—The three-legg… what? —He asked in confusion.
—That's what the maidens call me. —He said elbowing the young man while laughing to himself.
All Might ignored the comment as if it never happened
—Toshinori Yagi.
—Don't you want to tell me your blood type too? I only asked your name. —Replied sarcastically.
—Yagi, Mr. Keto.
—Well young Yagi, welcome... Make yourself at home. —All Might took Keto's word and made himself at home, wearing clothes he borrowed although the pants were a bit tight due to the size of his legs.
The blond couldn't take his eyes off that unkempt corner, noticing something that caught his interest.
—WAIT, MR. KETO... DID YOU WORK WITH THE NAVY? —He asked when he saw some folded insignia with traces of having been burned.
—That was many years ago, young man, I couldn't even retire... I experienced things I would not like to reminisce. —He commented as he poured a glass of water, spilling a little as his hands trembled as he uttered those last words.
All Might was concerned about reminding him of that horrible past.
—Sorry. I understand... Those pirates... They are very different from our villains... No hostages... No need of powers to justify their behavior... Only the pleasure of taking lives... —He expressed as he clenched his fists on his thighs in distaste.
—Pirates? Yes, they are heartless... It's their nature... But sometimes the navy and pirates are not so far apart when it comes to cruelty. —He expressed disappointed while unintentionally shedding a few tears that wiped with his sleeves.
—We humans are trash in general Yagi-san, I'm not proud of who I was, or who I am... but I'm glad to see people like you. You have a good sense of justice... and I know all of you will make a positive difference in your world. —He mentioned pointing his hand at Yagi making circular movements, highlighting his whole figure in the air.
—All of you? He must be seeing double by now. Shall I take you to your room? —He tried to relax and take care of the melancholic old man.
—I'm not seeing double, boy... You are not alone... You carry several wills; I hear their voices. —He said smiling with a determined look.
—IS THAT YOUR QUIRK? —The hero was surprised.
—Devil's fruit... Here it's called devil's fruit... and no. —The old man stretched and released the air to relax his body.
—Haki... You see, the power granted by a fruit is not everything… But I'm tired... let's go to bed, it's late and tomorrow it's the great day.
—WHAT'S HAPPENING TOMORROW?
—Pirate race... why do you think it was so lively today? Come to think of it... you didn't have dinner... Feel free to have whatever you like. —He said wearily, retiring to his room.
All Might stared at where he went...
—He didn't tell me where I would sleep... it's not like I'm sleepy anyway... this is all very hard to comprehend... I don't have an appetite either_
A couple of hours passed and the hero had read some newspaper articles that the old man had, he could not rest and the small house made him feel more trapped.
All Might stood up and went outside to get some air, the area was desolate so he left a light on and closed the door, continuing walking along the bay for a while appreciating a beautiful starry night. Nights like this were long gone where he lived due to the number of lights that illuminate the big city.
A peaceful and fresh atmosphere cleared his mind for a few minutes, he had a long time without being alone in a place that managed to calm him all thoughts. The hero enjoyed those brief minutes of serenity until it was interrupted by some voices coming from distance… A uniformed group of 3 people and a bear were heading towards a submarine that was anchored near the shore.
_VOYAGERS_ He thought excitedly to himself while looking at the uniforms, regaining what he had lost upon knowing his situation... Hope.
