Chapter Four
Andy watched Erin leave the room and sighed.
"Andy, it's going to be okay." Diane tried to reassure her.
"Is it?" Andy asked, looking Diane in the eyes.
Diane sighs. "I can't promise you that it will be but I do know a lot of people are here for you," Diane told Andy as they heard a knock on the door.
"Come in," Andy called out.
The door slowly opened and Andy and Diane saw Robert come in.
"Robert! What are you doing here?" Andy asked, trying to sit up but ended up groaning in pain.
"Warren came back to the station and since everyone heard the aid cars' sirens we were all awake wondering what had happened," Robert explained, sitting down in the chair next to
Andy's bed. "Can you tell me?"
Andy looked down at her hands. "Diane, do you mind letting us talk?"
"No. No problem." Diane told her. "I'll come by later if you want. Maybe tomorrow?" Diane watched Andy nod and left.
Robert watched as Andy seemed to shrink into the bed. "Andy, please talk to me."
"I was coming from a meeting with Chief Ross. I knew it was late, I knew you all might've been asleep but I was willing to wait with how excited I was." Andy told Robert, trying to keep her emotions in check, not wanting to lose it in front of her ex-husband.
"What was the meeting about?" Robert asked gently, wanting to start with simple questions to not upset Andy anymore than she already is.
"Right now only a few people know, but Chief Ross called me in to talk to me about making me captain of 19." Andy smiled. "I just wanted to let everyone know even if Chief Ross told me to keep it quiet for now."
Robert smiled. "That's amazing Andy. I'm so happy for you."
Andy smiled back. "Thank you, Robert."
"All we heard from Warren was that you flatlined on the way to the hospital and that you were beaten badly." Robert tried to tread lightly. "What happened?"
Andy took a deep breath. "I was just getting out of my car when I heard these men come from behind me." Andy paused. "They said they were friends of Jeremy's."
"They?" Robert asked, surprised.
Andy looked down. "There were three of them." She heard Robert gasp and she sighed, knowing that he would react this way. "They tied me up and just beat me."
"What else, Andy?" Robert asked, knowing that Andy was holding back.
"They got through beating me and started to take my clothes off. " Andy could feel Andy tense and continued to look down. "They continued to beat me and then they started to r-rape me." Andy choked out. "They just continued for what seemed like forever and all I could think was "This is what Jeremy was going to do to me." and I ended up passing out. Woke up in the hospital."
"So what has Dr. Grey said?" Robert asked, trying not to pry.
"Said I had a concussion. A lot of bruises all over my body. My wrist needed to be x-rayed and it turns out that it's just fractured. So it could've been worse." Andy told Robert, finally looking up at him, seeing the shock on his face almost too much.
"Andy..." Robert started but when he saw her start to look away. "Is there anything I can do for you? Can I bring you any food while you're stuck here?"
"I'm not feeling very hungry right now, but thank you for the offer, Robert." Andy gave Robert a small smile.
Robert and Andy continued to talk for a while, Robert trying to keep her mind off of where she was and what led her there. Robert was about to ask Andy something when there was a knock at the door. Andy invited them in.
"Detective Lindsay." Andy was getting surprised by all the visits she was getting from her.
"You're back?"
"I have some good news." Erin started. "I know that I told you that Jeremy had some more friends who wanted to get some revenge on you so I wanted to come and tell you that someone in his circle told the Oregon cops that there was a group of guys that were planning on coming up here and since they got caught you should be safe now," Erin told her, a hint of a smile on her face.
"So what does this mean?"
"Well, first of all, it means that everyone who was involved is now arrested and secondly, knowing and having proof that all these guys wanted to hurt you should help me make a case as to why there shouldn't be a trial," Erin told her.
"So what does this mean for you?" Andy was curious if the detective would be staying or not.
"it means that this case should be open and shut." Erin smiled. "It also means that I'll be staying longer than I thought."
"So she won't have to deal with going to court and having to testify?" Robert asked, speaking for the first time since Erin came in.
"That's what I'm hoping for." Erin looks at Robert. "I told Andy earlier that I couldn't make any promises and while I still can't, I can say that the chances look better. With all the proof we have, I'm going to call the DA tomorrow and talk about this so I'll let you know then." Erin told him.
"What happens if she does have to go to court? Won't she have to re-live everything that happened to her?"
"Yes, she would have to relive it but if she did testify she would for sure put them away," Erin told them, voice confident.
Robert nods, not really knowing what to say.
"Alright, well, I need to get going again. I need to talk to the DA and then I'll come back and let you know what he decides. Get some rest, okay? Every time I've come in here lately you've been awake instead of resting to help your injuries heal." Erin teases. "I know we just met but you seem really great and I just want you to be okay. No one deserves what happened to you." Erin squeezed her hand, smiled and then walked out of the room.
"She seems..spunky?" Robert chuckles.
"Oh, she totally is. I think that's why I don't get freaked out by her. A cop that isn't pushy." Andy told him. "She is right though, I do need to get some rest."
Robert nods. "I'll be back tomorrow, Andy. Try to sleep"
Andy smiles and watches Robert walk out. "Robert." Robert turns around. "Thank you for coming to visit." Robert nods and leaves the room while Andy slides down on the bed and closes her eyes.
Trying so hard to update as much as I can for you guys. I hope this wasn't a wash of a chapter.
