AN: Side note, I'm taking a little artistic liberty with Hellsing canon here (not that I haven't been this whole time) In this story, Schrodinger is a vampire that was warped by the doctor into what he is. Thus, vampire needs, strengths, weaknesses etc.

Chapter 4

Harry returned to his quarters in the Hellsing manor only to hear the soft sound of crying coming from inside his special room in the closet. Harry sighed, he had figured this would happen sooner or later. He walked into the room and saw Schrodinger curled up on the couch, crying into his hands. Harry carefully sat down beside him and took him into his arms.

"Hi Schrodinger." Harry said simply, letting the boy lean into him and cry into his shirt. After a few minutes he managed to regain some of his composure.

"Why? Harry.. just why?" Schrodinger asked.

"He wasn't a nice man, Schrodinger. He should have just loved you and done what was needed to protect and guide you, but he just used you." Harry said, rubbing his back.

"Is that all I'm good for then? Ending Alucard?" Schrodinger asked.

"To him, maybe, but to us you are an amazing boy, someone we care deeply about and want desperately to be a part of our lives. We talked about my history, kiddo. I know what it's like to grow up as somebody else's weapon. It sucks." Harry said. Schrodinger nodded.

"But now you have a new family, one that loves you just for being Schrodinger. We don't want you to do anything except just be you. You know Zorin and Rip are worried sick about you." Harry said. Schrodinger nodded.

"I'm sorry, I just... I needed to get away for a little." Schrodinger said. Harry nodded.

"Of course, just the next time you need to not exist for a little while, can you leave a message? We were all worried." Harry said. Schrodinger nodded, still crying but smiling, leaning back into Harry and squeezing.

"Now come on kid you've been gone for days, you must be hungry." Harry said. Schrodinger nodded and bit into his wrist. Normally Harry would have just given him a flask, he preferred to only feed Seras straight from his body, but he wanted Schrodinger to know how concerned they'd been and how much they loved him. After a minute he let go and smiled up at Harry.

"All set?" Harry asked. Schrodinger nodded.

"Ok, now lets get you something new to wear, I don't think hitler youth uniforms are really in fashion nowadays." Harry said with a grin. He picked up his Journal and jotted a note down to Rip and Zorin to let them know he was coming over with Schrodinger. They had purchased clothing for him for when he got back, also Harry had prepared a room in their new house for him, in anticipation of them asking him to stay with them.
"Ok, you remember, this kinda sucks. Just concentrate on breathing when we get there. In, hold two seconds, out, hold two seconds. You get used to it, ok?" Harry said. Schrodinger nodded and held onto him. With a pop, they appeared in the lawn in front of Rip and Zorin's house, behind the notice-me-not wards. With a wave, Harry added Schrodinger to the wards, right as he was recovering from the apparition induced nausea. They knocked on the door.

"Schrodinger!" Rip yelled before running forward and taking the boy in her arms. Zorin stood behind her crying and smiling. They insisted Harry come in and they all sat down around the kitchen table, which in that house was purely for conversations.

"We were so worried, are you hungry?" Zorin asked, petting his hair.

"Harry fed me." Schrodinger said. Harry grinned and showed the rapidly healing bite on his arm.

"So you must know how worried we were!" Rip said, gently admonishing him.

"I know. Rip, Zorin, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you, I just needed to get away." Schrodinger explained. Rip nodded.

"I understand, but we just need to know that you're ok. You're family to us, Schrodinger you must know that." Zorin explained.

"I know. Harry told me." Schrodinger said.

"Why don't you show him to the you-know-where?" Harry said. Rip looked at him confused, so he mouthed 'his bedroom' and she got it.

"Come on, Schrodinger, we want to show you something." Rip said, taking his hand.

"This is a nice house, is it yours Harry?" Schrodinger asked.

"Oh, no I still live at Hellsing." Harry said with a grin. When they led him in Schrodinger looked confused. On the bed were several outfits in his size.

"What is this room?" Schrodinger asked.

"It's your room." Zorin said, placing her hand on his shoulder.

"What?!" he asked incredulously.

"We want you to live with us Schrodinger. Be a part of our family." Zorin said.

"But... why?" Schrodinger asked, tearing up.

"Because we love you, silly boy." Rip said.

"I'll head out for now. Let me know if you guys need anything." Harry said.

"Oh no you don't. You're family too." Zorin said, grabbing his shoulder before he could leave. Harry nodded, smiling and trying hard to ignore the tears in his eyes. Rip heard a noise on the counter and turned around noticing the journal was vibrating, she opened it and smiled, then wrote a message.

"Seras says hello!" Rip said.

For the following days, one of the adults in his life was 'in charge' of Schrodinger. The concept of an adult who is there to not only guide and protect, but love and enrich him was foreign, so they were lavishing him with affection and attention as much as possible. Some days he spend with Zorin and Rip as they acclimated to life in Modern London. Zorin found she could easily mill about the local punk scene, the only thing that made her stand out in that crowd was her height. Rip on the other hand frequently found herself enamored with London's fashion scene, and Schrodinger was all to happy to act as her own personal dress-up doll.

Other times, Schrodinger would spend time with Hermione plowing through magical newspapers from all over Europe in hopes of discovering patterns that would point to Millennium's locations. Schrodinger turned out to be adept at this, knowing several languages and having a sharp, analytic mind. He also found that thanks to Hermione's polyjuice experience, he had a friend who knew what life as a cat/human hybrid could be, even from her limited experience.

Harry, however, he gravitated most to. He was a mentor of sorts and the perfect male role model, because Harry was never one to hide his emotions. He would share with Schrodinger how much Integra's outbursts hurt him, he would explain that Hermione wasn't really mad at him when he would bring some absurd new piece of news to her attention, that she just had trouble when her view of how things are and should be is challenged, but his favorite thing was Harry's sense of mischief. It was this that he was hoping to see when he accompanied him to Diagon Alley.

"Ok, Fred and George are some of my best friends. They're Weasleys, so of course they're awesome. You're going to love them." Harry said, holding Schrodinger's hand as he walked up to the entrance of Weasley's Wizardin Wheezes.

"Fred, George, where are you?" Harry said.

"They're out picking up a shipment from Germany... Oh my god who is this cutie?" Angelia Johnson, George's fiancee said. Schrodinger hid behind Harry.

"It's ok, Schrodinger. This is another school friend, Angelina Johnson. We played Quidditch together at Hogwarts." Harry said, rubbing his hair between his ears. Schrodinger shyly stepped out and introduced himself.

"Hello Fraulein... er Ms. Johnson." Schrodinger said, offering his hand.

"Oh my god he's adorable!" Angelina said. Schrodinger smiled at her.

"Hey mate, why don't you go look around and see what they've got here. Everything on the first floor is safe. Don't go upstairs without one of us though, ok?" Harry said. Schrodinger nodded and walked off.

"He's great, we all love him." Harry said.

"Was he with those millennium creeps?" Angelina said. Harry nodded.

"Yeah but we're past that and now he's his whole life ahead of him." Harry said, catching angelina's eye and pointing to his ears. She nodded.

"That's great. I don't suppose he'll be going to Hogwarts?" Angelina asked. Harry shook his head.

"I don't know if he has magic, to be honest. I should bring him down to Ollivander's to see if he can find a match. I know he's been working hard to restock since it was reopened." Harry said.

"Worth a shot. Besides, I'm sure the tosser that owns Hogwarts might be convinced to let him in." Angelina said with a wry smirk.

"Ms. Johnson, Harry owns Hogwarts, that wasn't very nice." Schrodinger said from across the store.

"I know, Schrodinger I'm just joking with him." Angelina explained.

"Oh, Sorry." Schrodinger said, blushing.

"Not a problem." Angelina said. The bell dinged and Fred and George walked in, immediately noticing Harry and rushing over to greet him.

"Harry!" Fred said.

"Welcome to." George said

"Your store!" Fred said.

"Keep the back and forth to a minimum guys, my friend Schrodinger is here with us and he's not very used to being around so many new people." Harry said, gesturing for Schrodinger to come over to him. He once again hid behind Harry.

"Aww don't be shy young man. Any friend of Harry's is a friend of ours." Fred said.

"Yeah, promise we won't bite mate. Please feel free to tour the store. If you see anything you fancy, it's yours just ring it out at the till. Harry's part owner here, so have at it." George said. He looked up at Harry with an excited expression.

"One thing, and only from the bottom floor. The stuff upstairs can be either dangerous or mean." Harry explained. He nodded and happily darted off.

"Hey mate, When you get a chance, we need to talk." Fred said.

"The topic of course is not one suited towards younger ears." George said, giving him a knowing glance. Harry nodded

"Schrodinger, would you be alright if I stepped into their office with them to talk business? Angelina is going to be here if you need anything." Harry asked. Schrodinger hesitated but nodded.

"Youll be right out, ja?" He asked.

"Of course!" Harry said, then followed Fred and George into their office.

"Cute kid, I'm guessing you rescued him from Millennium?" Fred asked. Harry nodded.

"He was one of Mengele's experiments, an attempt at beating Alucard. Now he's kind of all of our little brother." Harry said, fondly looking out at him through the window on their door.

"It is Millennium that we wanted to talk to you about." Fred said, Harry's attention was immediately on them.

"What's up?" Harry asked.

"We've been in touch with Viktor Krum, at first hoping to leverage your partial ownership to get a brand sponsorship in Bulgaria, our products are finding their ways into the old soviet bloc countries." George said.

"He mentioned during our chat that he saw an 'airship' travelling east over his home outside of Sofia. He couldn't find out anything about it, but you know he's got 'seeker eyes' He told me he saw a swastika on the tail.." Fred said.

"Fuck." Harry said.

"Fuck indeed. Reach out to him, he knows a lot of people in Eastern Europe, also we sent an owl to Charlie who knows a lot of people in and around Romania. Any news we get we'll forward immediately." George said.

"Thanks guys, this is more helpful than you know." Harry said.

"Of course. Harry stepped out of the store, and helped Schrodinger ring out an animated toy dragon, before giving his goodbyes and leaving the store.

"Hey Schrodinger, want to see some magic?" Harry said. He nodded enthusiastically.

"Expecto Patronum." Harry said, causing Prongs to burst out of his holly wand. Schrodinger marvelled at it.

"Go ahead and touch it." Harry said with a grin. He did, and Schrodinger's eyes lit up.

"It makes me feel... happy? And optimistic!" He said. Harry nodded.

"It's also good for sending messages." Harry said, whispering a message into Prongs' ear before he galloped off and disappeared.

"So I want to talk to you about what Fred and I discussed." Harry said.

"Was it about Millennium?" Schrodinger asked, his expression dimming. Harry nodded.

"An old friend of mine spotted their zeppelin flying east form Bulgaria. It's good that they're so far away, but it does mean that it'll be harder to monitor them. I'm working on it, but when I was your age I hated having stuff hidden from me. There are going to be times that I can't tell you something either to keep you safe, or to keep you from being sad or scared, but I won't lie to you, ok?" Harry said. Schrodinger nodded.

"Can I go back to Zorin and Rip's house now?" Schrodinger asked.

"Of course mate, hold on." Harry said, picking Schrodinger up and holding him tightly, before apparating. Schrodinger, oddly, adapted to apparition faster than anyone else and it didn't really bother him any more. Perhaps because he had his own unique form of travel, however, he always insisted that Harry bring him places simply because he enjoyed spending time with him.

"Hello boys. You're back early." Zorin said, letting them in. Harry nodded.

"We got some disturbing news. A friend of mine in Bulgaria spotted a zeppelin flying east of Sofia." Harry said. Zorin scowled.

"Should we be talking about this in front of Schrodinger?" Zorin asked. Harry looked down at Schrodinger and squeezed his shoulder.

"Hiding things from him won't help him. I know, because when I was his age people hid things from me, and look at all the trouble I got into." Harry said. Zorin frowned.

"That makes sense, though I hate to burden him." Zorin said, picking up Schrodinger and holding him.

"Trust me, if I could isolate everyone from this shit, I would." Harry said.
