Chapter 33

"You son of a bitch." Tonks said with a grin,.

"Sunnabitch!" Teddy said.

"Language, Tonks!" Harry said, laughing. Teddy giggled. Tonks rolled her eyes.

"Ok young man, let's get you home before they corrupt you even more." Tonks said. Teddy turned to Integra and hugged her one more time before kissing her on the cheek.

"Bye 'Tegra!" Teddy said.

"Goodbye Teddy." Integra said smiling back at him. Tonks took him back and She, Sirius and Remus went about the rest of their day. Harry lead Integra over to Florean Fortescue's where Luna was teaching Helena how one of the machines worked while Schrodinger sat in a booth reading his Potions textbook.

"That's a good one to start with." Harry observed. Schrodinger's eyes lit up and he smiled.

"Harry!" Schrodinger said, getting up and hugging him.

"Heya kiddo, how far are you?" Harry asked.

"I just read about how lacewing flies react with avocado skin to make a moderately good burn ointment... or if combined under too much heat, an extremely potent acid." Schrodinger said, grimacing. Harry nodded.

"My mate Seamus found that one out the hard way. I thought Snape was going to skin him alive." Harry said with a sad smile.

"To be fair, Seamus could blow up a goosefeather pillow." Luna said with a grin.

"Yeah, uh he did that once actually. Long story short, Weasley Fireworks react VIOLENTLY to goose down." Harry said.

"I hope he's learned from his mistakes." Schrodinger siad. Harry frowned.

"Seamus died this year, Schrodinger. Right over there actually, he saved a group of kids who were just looking at brooms from vampires." Harry explained gently.

"Oh! I'm so sorry!" Schrodinger said.

"Don't be, you didn't know. He was a really good guy, though a bit of a berk in the beginning of my fifth year." Harry said grinning.

"Do you remember when were doing the DA when he blew up the training dummy with an incarcerous charm?" Luna asked, giggling.

"Oh! Or the time when we were practicing the patronus something in his pants exploded and he ran around yelling 'Help! Me arse is on fire!'" Harry said in a terrible Irish accent before laughing. Luna cackled at that. They spent a few minutes regaling Helena and Schrodinger with stories about Seamus' misadventures, as well as other trouble they got into at Hogwarts. Harry donated a vial so Schrodinger and Helena could have some Harry Rocky Road.

"You said this has no sugar in it?" Integra asked Luna who nodded happily.

"Yes! I actually came up with it because of Hermione, her parents are dentists." Luna said.

"This is amazing!" Integra said. Luna laughed, and handed her a tiny plastic bucket.

"That's under a stasis charm so it won't melt. Have Harry unshrink it when you get back. I made five gallons for you." Luna said.

"Five gallons?! Why? Integra said.

"Because it as a five gallon bucket?" Luna said. Integra grinned.

"I could use a break. Schrodinger would you like to come with me to Flourish and Blott's? Daddy asked me to drop off a stack of Quibblers." Luna said.

"Sure!" Schrodinger said. Harry stopped him and handed him a small bag of coins.

"Books only, ok?" Harry reminded him. Schrodinger nodded and hugged him before following Luna out the door.

"You spoil him." Helena chided him. Harry laughed.

"Only with books. We have a rule, toys and games he has to earn by doing well in classes or getting his chores done on time, books are open season, and man does he chew through them." Harry said. Helena walked over and sat across the booth from him, finishing her ice cream.

"How have things been for you, Helena? I feel bad, I haven't spent a lot of time with you." Harry said.

"I've been doing well. Zorin and Rip have really helped me acclimate, and I absolutely adore working with Luna. She has the most unique perspective on things." Helena said. Harry nodded.

"Everyone thought she was mental in school. Called her awful things like 'Loony Lovegood' but if you actually sat down and talked to her, she always came to the right conclusions on things, she just took a wildly different path to them. She was invaluable during the war, because her open-mindedness enabled her to see huge glaring flaws in Death Eater strategies. When we were fighting vampires in London, they had no idea how to deal with her, and she is BRUTAL with fire magic." Harry said.

"I can't understand why anyone would be mean to that wonderful woman." Helena said.

"I think some people have no confidence in their viewpoints, and find it easier to challenge those of other people's than to change their own. Luna has helped me more than I can say in that regard." Harry commented. Helena was about to comment when the sound of breaking glass and screams caught their attention.

"What's happening?!" Helena asked. Harry was already out the door before the last syllable came out of her mouth. The sounds came from Flourish and Blott's. She rushed out behind Harry and gaped at what she was seeing. Luna was on the ground cradling a broken arm, and Schrodinger was standing protectively in front of her, bleeding from several injuries of his own. Harry was hovering several feet in the air holding up a vampire she didn't recognize up by his neck, choking him.

"Harry!" Helena shouted.

"See to them please, Helena." Harry said far too calmly. The vampire struggled against Harry's grip, slashing at Harry's arms with his claws but to no avail. Harry was bleeding profusely but not moving.

"What about you?" Helena asked, helping Luna up to her feet. Harry slowly turned his gaze to Helena, she shivered when she saw that his face was devoid of emotion and his eyes were faintly glowing green.

"I will be fine." He said calmly. The vampire redoubled his efforts, planting his feet against Harry's torso and pushing with all of his might. He succeeded only in breaking his own neck. Harry slowly turned his head to face the vampire who had adopted a panicked look.

"You hurt my friend.. You hurt my son..." Harry said.

"Harry! Kill him and be done with it!" Schrodinger begged. Harry turned to Schrodinger and smiled.

"I will, son. We just need to find out why he's here first." Harry said. He glared at the vampire.

"Legillimens" Harry said, diving into the vampire's mind. As Harry had expected, this vampire was one of Mengele's flawed creations. He was a next generation vampire, slightly stronger and faster than the second generation ones, but much less intelligent. The vampire had little in his mind aside from an implanted desire to kill Schrodinger. Beyond that Harry could find nothing. He frowned and withdrew from the vampire's mind.

"Harry?" Schrodinger asked. Harry apparated along with the vampire several thousand feet into the air. While in free fall, Harry was enveloped in a sphere of holy magic, incinerating the vampire well away from where it would have a chance to harm Helena or Schrodinger. He then apparated back to the ground.

"Episkey" Harry said, fixing Luna's arm with a sharp crack that caused her to cry out.

"Sorry." Harry said, looking confused at Luna.

"It's ok. What's going on, Harry? What was he doing?" Luna asked. Harry looked sadly at Schrodinger.

"He was sent to kill Schrodinger." Harry said.

"What?!" Integra asked incredulously.

"Harry, should you say that in fro-" Helena asked.

"I don't hide things from Schrodinger. He knows better than any of us what those monsters are capable of." Harry said, taking Schrodinger in his arms.

"What was he? He was way too strong, the vampires we fought in London were pushovers compared to him." Luna asked.

"New kind of vampire. Strong, fast and stupid. Luna can you close the shop real quick? You need to get that looked at properly at St. Mungo's or Hogwarts. Helena, can you go with her then come with her to Hellsing after?" Harry asked.

"Of course. Come Helena I'll apparate us." Luna said. Helena nodded, and hugged Harry.

"Please don't do anything reckless." Helena said, clearly worried. Harry smiled at her.

"I promise that if I do decide to do something reckless, I will not do it alone." Harry said.

"That's better than I could have expected." Helena said with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. She and Helena disappeared with a crack.

"Let's go through the leaky, it's not a long drive to Hellsing." Harry said numbly. They followed him to his car and Harry was silent for the whole ride home. Harry helped Integra out of the front seat when they arrived.

"Harry what's wrong?" Seras asked, following them into Integra's office.

"Schrodinger and Luna were attacked by a new kind of vampire." Harry said, his voice robotic.

"Integra, can you call Zorin and rip here? I don't think I can cast a patronus right now." Harry said. Integra nodded and picked up the phone. Hearing Harry admit that he couldn't cast a patronus charm was terrifying to her. Harry took Schrodinger into his arms and just stood there. Schrodinger was worried, especially when he felt Harry start shaking.

"Harry?" Schrodinger asked, looking up at Harry. He was staring into the middle distance.

"Harry what's going on?" Seras asked.

"They tried to kill him, Seras. They tried to take him away from me. From all of us." Harry said.

"But you stopped them." Seras said, trying to comfort him. Integra hung up the phone.

"They're leaving now, which means they're probably almost here." Integra said

"They tried to kill him..." Harry repeated. Seras was worried, she'd never seen him like this.

"Harry..." Seras said. He looked up at her.

"They tried..." Harry said.

"DAD!" Schrodinger yelled. Harry's jaw clicked shut and he stared at Schrodinger.

"I'm ok. We're all ok. Breathe." Schrodinger said. Harry shut his eyes and obeyed.

"I'm so sorry, Schrodinger." Harry said.

"You didn't do anything wrong." Schrodinger said, squeezing him.

"I very nearly did." Harry said, sitting in a chair and pulling Schrodinger into his lap.

"What do you mean?" Integra asked.

"I've never in my life been that angry, Integra. Not with the Dursleys, not with Dumbledore, not even with Voldemort. I desperately, DESPERATELY wanted to do something stupid just then." Harry admitted.

"Like what?" Seras asked.

"In that thing's mind, I saw him receiving orders. Mengele was there, so was The Major... and so was Matrograno." Harry said. Integra gaped at him.

"I was very close to begging Alucard to come with me to the Vatican to hunt him down." Harry said.
