I do not own any of this. Paranorman belongs to Laika and Sonic The Hedgehog belongs to Sega.
Tonight sure had been strange for Sonic. He had gotten a little angry and suddenly a power he had never felt before shot out of him like a gun with enough strength to knock out power all across town. Hopefully, he wouldn't be shooting himself in the foot by accidentally revealing himself; hopefully it would be one of those events that people would completely forget about by tomorrow morning.
If not, then there's the strong possibility he will have to say a sad goodbye to Earth and a reluctant hello to the mushroom planet. "Oh please don't be traced back to me."
Rolling back into his cave, Sonic failed to take notice of the yellow lightning sparking out of the ground or the ghostly head watching him go inside from the twisted tree.
Safe inside his cave, all Sonic could do at this moment was frantically pace back and forth in panic. People were surely going to be trying to figure out on what happened tonight; he just knew it. What was he thinking that people would be forgetting about this by morning? Who would ignore a sudden power outage with no explanation? No one would buy that excuse.
"Okay, just calm down Sonic. You just need to lay low for a couple of days until everything settles down; then you can run around in Blithe Hallow again like usual and you won't have to go to the Mushroom Planet. Yes, that's a perfect plan, Sonic. Totally something I can get behind."
Stopping beside the beanbag, Sonic nodded to himself over his plan. For now, he would stay away from Blithe Hallow for a couple of days and simply run around in the forest, while getting food from nearby gas stations. It was absolutely a perfect plan.
He went to take a seat on the beanbag when a cold chill breezed through him. His fur stood up in goosebumps, right along with this uneasy feeling. "What the? Is winter coming early this year?"
A more, much harsher wind then blew through, kicking up his comics into the air like a flock of birds as they circled around the cave in a vortex. "Okay, that's freaky."
The breeze continued onward without any signs of stopping; then it got even weirder when a strange light slowly entered the cave. Turning around, Sonic gasped in shock and took a step back as a ghost of what appeared to be a girl with electric-yellow hair drifted down through the cave's entrance. Her head was twitching in a very unnatural manner, and her facial expressions were constantly changing, though right now her main expression is of that of confusion, as she has never seen anything like Sonic before in both of her life and afterlife.
As for Sonic himself, he just stands there with his mouth open. As if this night wasn't eventful enough, now he has the unexpected ghost coming down to visit him. Looks like Ghost Boy was right about ghosts after all. "Uh. Hi there."
Her face changed into that of rage; her voice echoed as she spoke. "I don't know what kind of creature you are, but get out of here!"
"Hey there, Ghost Girl. I'm clearly a hedgehog, and plus who do you think you are? Coming into my main pad uninvited and telling me to leave. That's not how I roll."
"I said, GET OUT!" She screamed loudly enough to shake the whole cave.
Despite the scream, Sonic remained unafraid as he reached down to the floor and picked up his trusty nunchucks. "I don't know where you came from, but you made a huge mistake by entering a home belonging to a hedgehog who's in the art of wielding sweet, but completely untrained nunchuck skills."
Releasing a barrage of ninja-like shouts, Sonic spins his chucks around like spinning helicopter blades. The ghost stands there, unimpressed. She becomes even less impressed when Sonic accidentally strikes himself in the head, knocking himself off his feet. "I meant to do that."
Quickly getting himself back up, Sonic briefly rubbed the spot where the nunchucks have struck him before placing his hands on his hips. "Look how about this Ghost Girl. Instead of things escalating here. Why don't we just sit down and talk things over, perhaps we could even play a little nice game of ping pong."
"I don't know what ping pong is." She replied, "but all I want is for you to leave! This is my area first!" Her lightning hair extended out a bit, nearly reaching the cave's roof.
"You seem to have a bit of anger issues. If you just take a calming breath, I can let you meet Ghost Boy. He has hundreds of ghost friends; I'm sure you would like him."
"SHUT UP!" Swinging her arm similar to that of a professional baseball pitcher, she shoots out a bolt of lightning at Sonic.
"Whoa!" Jumping out of the way of the incoming bolt, it instead struck the beanbag, destroying it in an explosion of stuffing and leather.
"Aw man! That was my favorite beanbag." There was no time for grief however; as Sonic immediately jumped out of the way from another lightning strike.
Growling in frustration at missing the strange creature yet again, the ghost released a barrage of lightning, trying in vain to strike, but he was far too fast; faster than anything she has ever seen before. He was actually managing to dodge her attacks as they instead strike either empty space or against objects unfortunate enough to be in her bolts path.
Failing to hit him again, she let out a scream of frustration and shut her eyes. Sharp tree roots then burst out from both the ceiling or walls.
Reacting quickly, Sonic hopped, flipped, and grabbed hold of them. Jumping from the last one, Sonic sped past the wall, holding his bag of rings completely automatically for he knew that he is going to need them.
Seeing how the ghost was blocking the entrance, Sonic takes out a ring, knowing that with just one fling he would be out of here and be at the other side of town in no time. He went to throw it, but a sudden root lifted up across his feet, tripping him up. The last thing Sonic saw before falling to the ground was a torn advertisement for the Empire State Building.
As he hit the ground, his ring rolled to the dirt below and opened up to reveal a bird's-eye view of New York City. The ghost stopped her attacks in shock from the suddenness of the unfamiliar sights, sounds, and lights of the busy city at night. Floating there, she is flabbergasted as to what could this magical phenomenon could even be?
Meanwhile, Sonic's bag of rings, which had flew out of his hand after he tripped, went through the open portal and landed on the highest ledge of the Empire State Building.
"My rings!" Crawling to the portal frantically, Sonic reaches for the portal just as it closes up on him. "Oh no. Oh no. Oh no! This is very not good."
Above him, the ghost was still caught up in surprise over the sudden appearance of the portal. The ghost had forgotten, for just a second earlier, she had been just trying to blast this hedgehog as she slowly lowers herself down onto her knees. She began to scan around the area to find on wherever the magical ring had disappeared to. "What was that?"
"My rings. They're used by advance cultures to travel across various places in the galaxy." Suddenly looking up at her in anger for those rings were very important to him. Not only because those were his only way of getting off this planet when it came down to it, but also because they were the last things of LongClaw he could hang onto. "And you made me loose them!"
"I, well, um," she stammered. Everything that he had just said was a complete blur. Advanced cultures using rings to travel, life on other planets, was that city from another planet? She then remembered what she was originally doing before and promptly returned to a angry scowl.
"I told you to leave! It's your fault!"
"Don't put the blame on me! I have just been minding my own business, thinking about causing a massive power outage. Then you barged in here, demanding for me to leave and attacked me completely unprovoked!"
She at first widens her eyes in surprise from the reply, but she then twisted her face into more anger as her head twists and splits while she holds onto it. "JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" She cried out.
Unleashing a large blast of wind, she pushed Sonic right into the back wall. Pain shot out from him through his back as he fell to the floor to his knees. Sonic looked up at the glowing ghost whose lightning zapped wildly. It looked like this was going to get very ugly for him if he stayed here any much longer.
Crouching down into a running pose, Sonic felt the same power from earlier reappear as his own generated electricity lit up his back. On pure instinct, he rolled himself up into a ball that spun in place, gaining momentum until speeding forward at such a high velocity that the ghost couldn't even react as the blue ball hit her with enough force to push her out of the way.
Spinning around in a couple of flips, the ghost manages to right herself back upright. Looking to her left, she finds herself near one of the cave walls. Her expression is one of surprise; not only because of how fast he had been, but mainly for the fact that he has actually managed to not only touch her, but also knock her out of the way.
From what she understood, that shouldn't have been possible unless she was in a physical form, which she wasn't at the time; he should've gone through her or at least fried a bit from the electricity she was producing. Yet, somehow he managed to do so, leaving her in a curious state about this odd creature.
She is also feeling a bit guilty over accidentally causing him to lose those rings of his. Perhaps she could maybe returned them. Oh, but that wasn't the important issue right now. The main point is that for whatever reason, she is up earlier than usual, which means that stupid story won't be keeping her asleep this time and now she can finally begin her long-overdue revenge.
There is just one problem; the time. Judging by the position of the moon, it's very late by now and no doubt everyone down in that village is fast asleep by this point. Her curse wouldn't work with everyone asleep, there would be no one to hurt 'them' and 'they' may try to escape their punishment by fleeing into the woods.
She certainly doesn't want that. She spent three hundred years waiting for this day to come and she isn't going to let them get away, not after what they have done to her. Therefore, she has no other choice but to wait until sunrise to begin her curse. It's a rather big annoyance, annoying enough to make her feel like screaming in frustration, but she held that in for she will endure it. After all, she has waited three hundred years for her revenge; she can at least be patient enough to wait till morning to begin it.
Releasing a breath of pent-up anger, she drifted towards the entrance of the cave, but then stopped when her eyes caught sight of a blue light. Leaning down for a closer look, it was a blue quill belonging to that hedgehog-thing.
Picking up the quill, she feels it's power go into her with electricity zapping right up to her hair which flashed into a blueish-yellowish glow. It feels very strange, what was this energy? What was this creature even?
The strange energy quickly left her body as soon as it entered, leaving her feeling even stranger and more energized than ever before. Her body became more physical as she became less transparent, and she landed on the ground. If she weren't glowing or had hair made of lightning, she could pass for a living person.
Looking down to her hands in utter amazement, she slowly closed them several times until they returned to their usual transparent state, leaving her a bit disappointed since for that brief moment she had felt a hint of joy, she almost could recall what it felt like to be alive, and it was all thanks to this quill, which at this point was no longer generating any electricity.
She wanted to feel that wonderful feeling again, but no matter how much she used her electricity, nothing would light the quill up. It looked like only that hedgehog could trigger this quill; that was very disappointing. It almost made her regret driving him off. But it wasn't like she could really do anything about it now, considering how fast he had been going. That creature was most likely long gone by now.
Perhaps if she encounters him again, she can ask him to recharge this quill. But that will have to wait for now as she needs to get herself ready for the big day tomorrow.
Robotnik's garage was filled with a buzz of activity as automatic fuel pumps filled the truck, while drones and smaller round robots loaded into it from above. Inside the back of the truck that would normally be the cargo for any other truck, a mini lab hummed to life in preparation for their journey.
Striding into the garage with purpose, two robots with huge wheels for feet approached Robotnik; both were holding out trays, one with his remote control gloves and the other with his glasses. He took them both without even breaking stride or making any sort of eye contact.
"Doctor" Coming out of the truck is his expendable, but loyal lackey Agent Stone.
Approaching him, Stone walked in pace with him as Robotnik didn't waste time on stopping for a chat. That was strictly for lower-based life forms he was unfortunately forced to share this world with. "You'll be pleased to know that everything is prepared for our departure."
"Of course everything will be prepared." He scoffed. "My machines are efficient when given a task. Unlike humans, who are too slow and stupid to finish even a single simple task. My machines need no breaks or have no need to spend time with their wives and children!"
Everything would be great if the world were run by robots with him as the supreme ruler. That day will come eventually, mark his words, but for now, he has to live among oversized chimpanzees.
"What time will we arrive at our destination, Doctor?" Despite the treatment he receives from the doctor, Stone is very much used to it; he shows great admiration for the doctor, even if he doesn't show any kindness towards him in return.
"Based on the speed of the vehicle, highway directions, wind speeds, and current weather conditions, my calculations, which are always accurate, suggest we should be arriving right at daybreak."
"Should I prepare you a latte?" Agent Stone asked.
Turning to him with a glare, Robotnik places a foot on the first step of the ramp. "What do you think?"
"I'll get right to it." Walking off to prepare the doctor's latte. Robotnik was finally alone in the miniature lab to work on the prototype. Once it was finished, it would be the ultimate combat aircraft the world had ever seen, and it would be all his.
